Mining
Jasper finished pulling on his restored armor and sighed in relief, smiling as he glanced over at Mia, who was just finishing getting her own armor on. She'd had a second style made, in addition to having her one set remade, and Jasper now had a second set, though identical to the first. Mia was wearing her newer set right now, the armor consisting of skin-tight, black pants, knee-high black boots, black, leather sleeves running from a loop around her middle fingers up to mid-bicep, a leather armored top that left her lower abdomen exposed and was cut low on her currently sizeable chest, but which was tight, both making them swell to increase the cleavage it showed and also still fit properly if she decided to shrink them to something closer to her true form's petite breasts. The waistline of her pants swept low in the front into a "V" that reached just below her waist, and above the top, she wore a black leather choker and a black cape with a trio of holes for her head and arms.
"I love the new armor," Jasper grinned.
"Good," Mia smiled. "How's your new rapier?"
Jasper picked up his new rapier, inspecting it. Its grip was the same textured, black grip as its previous form, and its hilt was still the same black metal. The face from the previous hilt was now on the hexagonal pommel, the grip was long enough for two hands, and the guard had changed drastically. The guard had a pair of straight arms, then just above them was a latticework of metal woven into a three-inch-wide ring, then flowing forward along the guard for half of the front arm's length before sweeping down into the knuckle bow, connecting to the grip in the middle, leaving room for one hand and the other hand's placement outside of it. The blade was pure white and was nearly the exact same length and width as the Ironwood rapier he'd given Edgin, the perfect size for him.
"It's perfect," Jasper smiled, sheathing it in its new scabbard and strapping it to his side, his Ironwood sword now on his back.
"Good," Mia nodded, smiling. "It's just a shame you can't use it as a Divine Focus."
Jasper shrugged. "I'll probably use my Ironwood Sword most, once the novelty of having a new sword has worn off."
Mia chuckled, then nodded. She handed him the belt of throwing daggers, and he slung it across his chest as Mia strapped her own Ironwood sword to her side and her longsword to her back, her daggers strapped to her thighs. Then, together, they headed out of the now abandoned tent from just outside of the mining camp they'd used to change. They headed back into the camp, arriving just as Edgin pushed the door to the mine open. Out of everyone, only Kromlech had updated his gear. He now carried Kolgrim's sword paired with a shield Kolgrim had owned but left at the camp, the shield enchanted to reduce the effects of magic. It was a shiny, white, steel kite shield with gold around the edge and in a kite in the center bearing the same lion emblem as Kromlech's tunic.
"I like the new armor, Mia," Aranea smiled.
"Yeah, it looks great," Holga grinned, knowing full well why she'd gotten it.
"Thanks," Mia smiled. "Is everyone ready?"
"Yeah," Kromlech nodded. "Let's go."
Together, they all headed into the mine, and were immediately set upon by a swarm of two dozen giant rats, only to slaughter them in seconds.
"Alright," Edgin said, looking around. "Kromlech, have you been in here before?"
"No," Kromlech shook his head. "But all Dwarven mines are the same. Big main path breaking off into smaller side passages. The lower we go the narrower the paths. On this level, we're probably good with two side by side, but we'll have to choose one person to be in front when we go lower."
"I'll take it," Jasper said. "Adrianna, I'll want you behind me so you can use a Shield Spell to block any spells from Drow magic users."
Adrianna nodded, readying her staff as they continued forward. However, they stopped at a three-way intersection, looking to Edgin.
"Sure," Edgin sighed. "Doric, Simon, and Xenk to the left."
"The rest of you wait here," Jasper said. "I'd rather not have the Drow circle around and ambush us."
The others nodded, and the two groups split off, Mia following Adrianna with her bow in her hand. As Jasper's group walked, a pair of male Drow warriors charged from the front, but Jasper smirked, drawing his rapier. They wore identical black and red armor and held the identical, jagged, black swords. Jasper stepped forward to meet them calmly, and the first slashed at him, only for Jasper to step back out of range, then forward again, jabbing his sword into the Drow's heart, then withdrew it before stepping to the side and avoiding the other Drow's blade, slashing his head off. A third Drow warrior charged with a black morning star, only for Jasper to duck under his first swipe, slashing his inner thigh. The Drow collapsed, and Jasper jabbed his rapier into his chest twice rapidly as he continued walking. They continued on, only to find that they were at the end of their tunnel. Jasper rolled his eyes, heading back the other way.
"That was disappointing," Jasper said. "I was expecting something a bit more...expansive."
"Or more heavily populated," Mia agreed.
"I'm sure we'll have a more...active journey once we go to the lower levels," Adrianna assured them.
"No doubt," Jasper snorted as they reached the others, finding Xenk's group returning as well.
"Two Drow and a hundred feet of tunnel," Simon said.
"One extra Drow but only fifty feet," Jasper reported. "I think we may have overprepared on that one."
"Agreed," Edgin nodded. "Let's just keep going."
They continued on, and this time, several Drow found them before they had to go looking. Several warriors charged as a pair of archers opened fire, only for Vahn and Mia to each shoot an archer as Edgin, Jasper, and Xenk stepped forward to meet the warriors. Jasper and Edgin both baited their targets into attacking before stepping out of range, then struck out, Edgin stabbing one in the brain and Jasper slashing the other's head off. Xenk, on the other hand, deflected his opponent's sword before slashing them up the front. Jasper again shook his head, frowning.
"They're...weak," Jasper frowned. "They're really weak."
"The ones we fought on the way to get our weapons weren't exactly deadly, but they were better than these," Mia frowned. "It's like they're exhausted."
"Well, my clan definitely didn't go down without a fight," Kromlech said.
"One hard battle to take the mines wouldn't account for this," Jasper said. "It's like they haven't rested in months. Like they've been fleeing something."
Mia and Jasper met gazes.
"How deep are these mines?" Mia asked.
"Deep," Kromlech said. "And the Drow came up from below."
Jasper narrowed his eyes. "Please, no Sinspawn."
They continued on, clearing any branch tunnels quickly and easily and being assaulted by Drow every so often, but no matter how many times a group of five or less assaulted them, they slaughtered them in seconds. The Drow were just pathetic. By the time they'd cleared the entirety of the mine's first level, they had yet to find a single battle lasting longer than a minute, including one which was against a swarm of giant spiders.
"Is it too much to hope that we're just that much better?" Edgin asked.
"Yes," Mia said. "Drow are usually deadlier than this."
"And my clan wouldn't have been pushed back against...this," Kromlech frowned, having yet to have to step in. "Something doesn't feel right." He stopped, staring at the lift to the next level. "We can't go down."
"Why?" Jasper asked.
"It's missing three cogs," Kromlech said. "We'll need them."
"Wait, they sent these Drow up and then sealed them off without reinforcements?" Holga frowned. "Why?"
"They were already dying," Jasper said. "Whatever happened, these Drow were all dying already. They were sent up here as a bluff and as sacrificial forces. That's why it's been so easy."
"I remember seeing one of the cogs," Doric said.
"So do I," Mia nodded.
"And me," Edgin nodded.
They all quickly split up, scattering through the mine to retrieve the cogs. A few minutes later, they'd returned with them and quickly put them into the lift before taking it down a few at a time.
Xenk went first with Simon and Doric, then Jasper, Mia, Aranea, and Adrianna, then Kromlech, and Vahn, then Edgin, Kira, and Holga. As Jasper and the others road down the lift's shaft, it was a tight fit, so Aranea pressed closer to Mia and Jasper, who both wrapped their arms around her, then also around Adrianna. She blushed, but pressed into them as well, wrapping her arms around them as well. As she did, Mia barely restrained a smirk, Jasper keeping his face carefully neutral, but Aranea smiled openly.
"I really love your new armor, Mia," Aranea smiled. "It's so sexy."
"Thank you," Mia smiled. "But let's be honest here. Adrianna's got me beat by a mile."
Adrianna's blush darkened, but she smiled. "Thank you, but Aranea's right. You're much more attractive than me."
"Don't sell yourself short, Adrianna," Jasper said. "I'm biased toward Mia, but you're definitely incredibly beautiful."
Adrianna again smiled, squeezing them both gently. "Thank you."
Finally, the lift descended into the next level, and they all released each other, ignoring Simon and Doric's knowing grins, both having finally grown accustomed to Jasper, Mia, and Aranea's displays of affection and their rather unique views about intimacy. Once the others had all joined them, they looked around at the two tunnels, then split up, Jasper taking Mia, Adrianna, and Aranea to the left, and everyone else going down the path to the front.
"I don't think the teams are equal," Adrianna pointed out.
"We're better off," Jasper said. "We have two melees, three ranged, one Sorcerer, plus Shadow."
Adrianna considered, then nodded, only to immediately shove a hand forward, forming a shield around them in time to block a Fireball. Jasper narrowed his eyes as Shadow raced out, passing the group of Drow, which included a pair of female Sorcerers who both held long, thin swords, then transformed into a panther, letting out a loud, yowling snarl as he tore into a Drow archer at the back. The Sorcerers both turned to look, only to realize their mistake a second too late as Jasper shot forward. The first died with a slash up across the torso before he turned sharply, stabbing the other through the temple, withdrawing his blade instantly. A warrior leapt at Jasper, but Aranea hurled her spear, impaling him and knocking him to the ground, and a Drow archer fired at Jasper, only for Adrianna to block the crossbow bolt with a Shield Spell, then send out a Lightning bolt, killing him. A Drow seemed to materialize from a crevice beside Jasper, one Jasper hadn't even noticed, but before he could reach Jasper, Adrianna's staff crashed into his throat, crushing it and dropping him to the ground before she stabbed down into his heart.
"Thanks," Jasper said.
"Are these Drow living up to your expectations better?" Adrianna asked.
"They're better, but they're still sloppy," Jasper shook his head. "It's strange. The hunting party we fought in the Underdark just got done fighting a Purple Worm, and yet they still had plenty of energy to fight us, but they were hampered by their numbers making it easy to get them to kill each other. In even numbers, they should be enough to challenge us, even if not directly beat us."
Adrianna frowned. However, before they could say another word, they stepped into a large, open area, and Adrianna cursed, instantly forming a shield around them all as dozens of spells blasted into it. Adrianna narrowed her eyes, but on Jasper's signal, she dropped it, returning fire with a Fireball as Jasper and Mia charged, Jasper firing a barrage of Flame Arrows as Mia yanked her daggers from behind herself. Another volley of spells flew at them, but Adrianna and Aranea charged as well, avoiding the spell, Adrianna beginning to return fire with spells of her own. Jasper reached the Drow first, his rapier splitting her up the front before he spun around the other, his dagger slashing their back before he slashed off their head. A Drow launched a Venom Spine at Jasper, but Adrianna dove into the way, shouting in pain as it stabbed into her abdomen just above her skirt. Then, she ignored the agony of the poison and the dark veins spreading from the spine, launching a Fireball into the Drow that had attacked, killing it and a second. Jasper sheathed his dagger and grabbed a throwing knife, sending it spinning across the chamber and into the head of a Drow charging Aranea in the back while she was busy levering her spear out of another Drow's chest. Mia swept past Aranea instantly, slashing the last Drow just as Adrianna collapsed, convulsing. Jasper caught her, setting her down and looked around as Mia killed the last Drow, she and Aranea sprinting over.
"Can you cure her?" Aranea asked.
"I'm terrible at healing spells," Jasper shook his head.
"She'll die if we don't do something," Mia said urgently.
As if on cue, Xenk swept into the room, immediately seeing the problem and running over. He ripped the spine out and placed his hand over the wound, his hand glowing faintly. Slowly, the dark lines of poison in her skin receded before fading, color quickly returning to her face as her body slowly relaxed. After a moment, her eyes fluttered open, and she groaned. Jasper sighed, sheathing his rapier before picking up Adrianna's staff and pulling her to her feet, only to hug her.
"Thank you," Jasper smiled. "You shouldn't have shielded me, but thank you."
"You're welcome," Adrianna smiled.
"What'd you guys find?" Mia asked.
"Nothing," Edgin said. "A dead end with a few Drow trying to mine gold from the walls."
"They're getting pretty comfortable if they're mining," Jasper said, releasing Adrianna, who accepted her staff back. "Let's go."
They all nodded and continued through the mine quickly. More Drow sorcerers met them, but this time they were prepared and were able to kill them all without incident.
"Hey, Xenk, how do you always seem to show up at the perfect time?" Jasper asked as he slashed a Drow across the back, Xenk removing another's head.
"I can sense danger, and I also sensed someone be infected with poison," Xenk said. "Not including Mia's Quicksilver arrows, none of you use poison, so I knew there was trouble."
Jasper nodded, jabbing a Drow in the heart, then spinning around them as they fell to their knees, only for a Drow to fire a lightning bolt at him. Just as she did, however, Kromlech stepped forward, blocking the spell with his shield and grunting as the electricity made his arm sting in pain but did little else, and a moment later, Jasper had fired a Flame Arrow into the Drow's face. They all continued, but Jasper noticed that Adrianna was wiping sweat from her forehead frequently, clearly still exhausted from being poisoned. They passed through a narrow passage too thin for anyone to walk without turning sideways, so Simon took the lead. Several Drow sorcerers tried to ambush them, but Simon was more than capable of wiping them out. His magic had improved drastically even before his new staff, and with it, he was more than a match for any of the sorcerers they met. Finally, they exited into a wide, open area and Simon blocked a barrage of incoming spells while the others hurriedly exited the narrow tunnel. Then, he dropped the shield and they all charged at the Drow, slaughtering them all in minutes. As they all regrouped in the middle of the room, Jasper kicked a Drow's sword into a large hole in the floor, watching it fall.
"What's down there?" Jasper asked.
"It'll go to the next level," Kromlech said. "The mines here are full of 'em. But you won't survive the landing."
Jasper nodded, and followed Kromlech after the others, catching up to Adrianna, who was struggling not to look as tired as she was. He held out his hand, chanting an incantation and a pair of shimmering, red berries appeared in his palm. She smiled, eating both, and within seconds, he could see some energy return to her stride.
"Thank you," Adrianna smiled.
"I owe you a lot more than a couple of berries," Jasper smiled. "You didn't have to protect me."
"I didn't think about it," Adrianna said. "I just reacted."
Jasper smiled, nodding. They passed through another large area where the Drow had prepared, but with Shadow's help they had slaughtered the Drow within minutes. Up ahead, there were two wide paths.
"We're not splitting up," Edgin decided. "Let's go left first."
They all nodded and continued left, Kromlech, Xenk, and Jasper at the front with their ranged fighters behind them, then Holga, Doric, Aranea, and Edgin in the back. Instead of Drow, they were swarmed by giant spiders. The front line all dropped to a knee, Jasper adding Flame Arrows to a barrage of spells and arrows, slaughtering the first wave of spiders before they all charged. As much as Jasper hated them, and as he'd rather not be around them, they'd gotten good at fighting spiders, and within minutes, Jasper had slashed the last one up the front. They quickly explored the area they were in, finding it was simply the main path and a pair of paths looping around a pair of huge sections of stone but going nowhere. So instead, they reformed the formation in the opposite direction and headed back to the other path. However, after a moment, a Drow warrior atop a massive quadrupedal lizard charged out of the darkness ahead at them. Before it could reach them, Shadow shot forward, crashing into the lizard's side as a Grey Render and crushed both the lizard and the Drow against the wall.
He dropped back into the shadows of the ground but didn't immediately return to Jasper, so Jasper shifted into a Tabaxi, Mia doing the same. Sure enough, as they stepped into the next open area, they were swarmed and assaulted by spells. Adrianna and Simon blocked the initial volley before they all scattered. Several warriors charged Jasper and Aranea, only for Jasper to duck and weave through them, slashing them rapidly, shooting a sorcerer just past them with a Flame Arrow. As he killed the last warrior, a sorcerer launched a Fireball at him, but he dodged to the side, hurling a dagger into her chest. He ripped another from the belt as he spun around a warrior, driving it into the back of his head and leaving it there as his sword slashed another across the chest. He fired a trio of Flame Arrows at a group of sorcerers that were sending a constant volley of spells at Adrianna, who was struggling to hold a Shield Spell against the onslaught. One of the group was struck, but the others avoided the spell. However, as soon as the spells ended, Adrianna traded her Shield Spell for a Lightning Bolt which forked and struck all of the sorcerers, killing them all. A warrior leapt at Jasper from behind, but Aranea's spear stabbed into his side, slamming him into the ground before withdrawing and swinging around, slashing a lizard's head to redirect it to the side. The Drow on its back slashed at her, but Jasper yanked her back against him, out of range of the halberd before stepping forward and slashing off the Drow's leg as he killed the lizard. The Drow crashed to the ground, and Jasper stabbed him twice in the torso just as Mia flipped over another Drow Rider, decapitating him with her longsword before landing in front of a pair of warriors, slashing both across the chest and killing them.
Xenk slashed off the lizard's head, then turned, launching his blade into a sorcerer's chest. A trio of warriors moved to meet him, but he shredded his way through them with his dagger before reclaiming his blade in time to kill another warrior. Edgin passed him as a sorcerer stepped out from behind a large piece of broken mining equipment, only for Edgin to slash her down the front. A warrior charged Adrianna from behind, only for Shadow to catch it with his hand, then bite it in half, dropping both halves instantly before becoming an Ephemeral Hangman, catching and crushing several sorcerers that were just entering the fray. The last handful of warriors all let out a roar and charged, only for Kromlech to meet them, letting out a bellow as he hacked and slashed his way through them, deflecting a pair of slashes with his shield and spinning, severing the two warriors legs, then left them for Vahn to finish with his arrows as Kromlech leapt at the last warrior, planting Kolgrim's sword in his chest and tackling him to the ground before ripping it free again.
"This is much closer to the Drow I remember," Jasper said as they all headed for the next path.
"Agreed," Mia nodded, glancing at a large, red tent with a crescent moon on it. "They made camp here. We should be getting close to their leader."
"Good," Kromlech growled. "I have a gift for her from Kolgrim."
The pathway was narrow and guarded by sorcerers, but Mia and Vahn shot them all before they could cause trouble. On the far end of the narrow path was the other section of the encampment, even larger and more heavily guarded than the last, but they made quick work of it just as they had the other last. Within minutes, all of the Drow were dead, and they all gathered around the lift. This one, however, was considerably smaller, forcing them to go in pairs.
"Adrianna and I will go first," Jasper decided. "Shadow."
Shadow returned to him instantly, and Adrianna joined him on the lift as they started it down. For a time, it was silent, but finally, Adrianna wrapped her arms around Jasper.
"I'm glad you're okay," Adrianna said.
"I should be saying that to you," Jasper said, hugging her back. "You saved my life."
Adrianna didn't respond for a moment. "You're...unlike anyone I've ever met. You're genuine, and honest. Even putting your race aside, that's rare. You're one of the best men I've ever met."
"That's because you don't know what I've done in the past," Jasper said, withdrawing from her. "You don't know my past."
"I'd like to," Adrianna said, taking his hand. "I'd like to get to know you."
Jasper raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"
Adrianna hesitated, then opened her mouth, only to stop as they left the lift's shaft into the darkest stretch of mine yet. However, Jasper frowned as he stared around at the landscape as the lift rose. It was like a naturally-formed cavern, not a mine. There were no wooden reinforcements indicative of digging, there was almost no light, and there was a high clicking sound from somewhere around them.
"I can barely see anything," Adrianna frowned. "I'll give us some light."
"No!" Jasper hissed, shoving her hand down. "This isn't a mine. The Dwarves got greedy."
"What do you mean?" Adrianna asked in a whisper, as he was speaking.
"This is the Upperdark," Jasper whispered. "The highest section of the Underdark. That's how the Drow invaded. The Dwarves dug down and invited them."
"Why would they come down here?" Adrianna asked.
"Some places in the Underdark have more precious metals and gemstones than any other place in the world," Jasper said. "Like I said, they got greedy. But at the same time, the danger here is unlike anything they would have been prepared for. They were primarily a mining clan. They didn't have any true warriors. They might as well have slit their own throats."
The lift began to descend again and Jasper carefully guided Adrianna out of the way without approaching the Umber Hulk he could hear clicking its mandibles in the distance.
"What is that?" Adrianna asked.
"Umber Hulk," Jasper whispered. "Stay as quiet as possible."
Adrianna nodded, and a moment later, the lift descended into view, Mia immediately covering Adrianna's mouth. As the lift reached the ground, she looked around, then directed them to Jasper and Adrianna.
"Mia says she's going to warn the others where we are," Aranea whispered as Mia rode the lift back up. "Where are we?"
"The Upperdark," Jasper whispered back.
Aranea's eyes widened and she swallowed hard, nodding and adopting her hybrid form for its increased strength and her webbing and Darksight. After another couple of minutes of waiting, Mia and Xenk arrived, joining Jasper and the others. However, as the lift rose again, the Umber Hulk let out a roar and charged out of the darkness. It had a pair of enormous, razor-sharp mandibles, the posture of a gorilla, and long claws for fingers on its front legs, or arms, or whatever they were.
"Adrianna, stay back!" Jasper snapped, laughing himself forward, slipping between the Umber Hulk's front legs as it swung them downward, slashing along its back.
Its body was massive and covered with a black and shiny purple exoskeleton, but his sword bit into its flesh easily. However, killing an Umber Hulk was not as easy as slashing its back. It roared, lunging and snapping at Mia, only for her to drop to the ground under it, allowing its mandibles to snap closed above her before laughing herself out from under it to its right. Xenk slashed the Umber Hulk across the face, forcing it back and Aranea slashed it across the front, then spun her spear, repeating the strike before leaping away. She sprayed it rapidly with webbing, trying to bind it, only for it to break free easily, turning on Adrianna. Shadow crashed into it as a Grey Render, knocking it to the side, but it turned, lunging through him completely and making his claws miss as it swung a massive foreleg at Jasper. Jasper dropped into a slide, firing a trio of Flame Arrows into its underside and making it rear up, then slid to his feet, driving his rapier into its belly before slashing out to the side as he darted away from it. Just as its forelegs crashed into the ground, narrowly missing Xenk, who'd broken off a charge, Holga crashed down on its back, planting her axe in it, only for it to rear up, knocking her off and keeping the axe. Mia jumped past it, spinning, and her blade tore through it several times before Adrianna fired a Lightning Bolt into its side, knocking it to the ground. Then, Shadow formed over it as a Girallon, smashing his four fists down onto it and crushing its side. Seemingly out of spite, it began to rise again anyway, only for Jasper and Xenk to slash off its forelegs entirely. The Umber Hulk crashed back to the ground, and Shadow became a giant serpent, coiling around the Umber Hulk and constricting, crushing it to death in seconds.
Holga reclaimed her axe, only to growl in annoyance as Drow Riders began to emerge from the shadows. Kromlech, who had accompanied Holga, moved to meet them with the others, and within seconds, the battle had begun and turned fierce. Without being able to see properly, Adrianna wasn't able to aid them with her spells, leaving them to have to fight unaided against an equal number of enemies. Jasper hissed in pain as a halberd grazed his shoulder, but finished his spin, slashing two of the lizard's legs off before dodging away from it as it crashed to the ground, allowing him to kill its rider. Then, he dove to the side as several different spells shot past ranging from Fireballs, to Lightning Bolts, to Venomous Spines, to Frostballs. Adrianna sent a Fireball toward the spells source, but caught only one of the sorcerers. Jasper's Flame Arrows caught three more, but he couldn't focus on them as Mia and Aranea were fighting together against four Drow Riders. Kromlech finished off his own opponent and charged the Drow sorcerers, his shield held high, and Jasper nodded a thanks to him, expanding into a Girallon just in time to punch one of the Drow riders, killing him before grabbing a lizard by the tail and swinging it around into another Drow Rider and his mount, killing all three. Aranea lunged instantly, stabbing a lizard, but was forced to leave her spear behind in order to evade the rider's own spear. Then, she leapt at him, tackling him from the lizard before it could collapse and bit into his throat. The Drow let out a choked scream of pain, but it was too late for him to defend himself as her venom sent agony racing through him for the ten seconds it took for him to die.
As she killed him, Mia lunged at the other, slashing hard and deflecting his own sword before spinning, slashing the lizard down the side. It roared, batting her aside with its tail, only for Jasper to catch her, then shield her with his own body from the Drow Rider's sword and from a Fireball. He crashed to the ground hard, releasing Mia, and she shrieked in rage as he shrunk back down to his Tabaxi form, wounded and burned but alive. The Drow Rider and his lizard couldn't say the same, because in the blink of an eye, Mia had decapitated the lizard and driven her sword down through the drow's throat and into his torso even before the lizard began to fall. She grabbed her bow instantly, beginning to rapidly fire arrows into the sorcerers as they charged out of the shadows, and by the time Vahn and Doric arrived, as the last two, she'd killed them all and Xenk was healing Jasper.
"Oh, yeah," Jasper groaned. "These Drow are exactly what I expected."
"There," Xenk said, helping him up. "How do you feel?"
"Lucky I was a Girallon and don't need to get my armor mended again," Jasper said, looking around. "Everyone else okay?"
Everyone reported that they had no serious injuries, only a few bumps, scrapes, and scratches, and they all all carefully continued deeper into the Upperdark cavern.
