A pup sat at a table, early in the morning, reading a newspaper. She learned from the newspaper that the assassin she had hired had been killed. Shot dead by Chase after they had injured Ace. However, the newspaper also addressed Ace as Chase's son, which made the pup's plan even more complicated.

"Stupid, useless, piece of-" The pup stopped herself mid-sentence, she was infuriated at the assassins failure. "Guess it's onto plan B."

Adventure Bay, Lookout

7:21 AM

The pups were all sitting around the main room of the lookout, either watching TV or playing. Everest had just woken up from her nap, having somehow not woken up from the megaphone. Soon however, they all heard Ryder call for everyone from the kitchen, which they thought was strange since they all had already eaten but nonetheless, they went to see what he needed.

Upon entering the kitchen, they saw Ryder holding a newspaper, smiling. They were confused but assumed that it was about the performance in Barkingburg yesterday, probably full of news about how amazing it was.

"What do you need? Ryder sir." Chase asked, staring at the newspaper.

"You and Ace are now heroes of Barkingburg." Ryder replied, all the other pups were even more confused, but Chase and Ace knew exactly what he was likely talking about.

"We are?" Ace asked, playing dumb.

Ryder then turned the newspaper toward them so they could read it, they began reading it and got more and more shocked as they read.

The Heroes of Barkingburg save the day again!

During the play at the Barkingburg theatre, a deadly assassin was hired by an unknown person to assassinate no other than Famous actor and Wealthy celebrity, Wilhelm Juniper.

Due to the attempt on the actors life, the story that he was supposed to play the next day was cancelled. The incident is being investigated.

According to the man himself, the two heroes, named Chase Schäfer and his son, Ace Schäfer, had saved his life. The assassin was later identified as a man named-

They stopped reading further as they were completely shocked. Chase was already popular with the people due to him stopping the kingdom from falling into the wrong hands many times. But now, he had quite possibly saved the life of one of, if not the most popular and powerful canine on the planet, from being ended in front of thousands.

"There was an assassin at the theatre!?" Marshall asked, completely surprised to learn this.

"That explains the police that were outside when we left." Rocky pointed out.

AL looked at all of them, confused. "What?" The robotic canine asked them.

"Oh, right..." Rocky said, remembering that AL didn't have a single clue what anything they were talking about meant. "I'll explain it to you later." Rocky told him.

AL traded one more confused look with all of them before leaving the room. Everest watched him as he left. "I don't think I'll ever get used to a robot living here now." Everest said.

"Honestly, I don't think any of us will get used to it." Zuma said, looking at AL with distrustful eyes.

"You're just saying that because you don't like him." Chase said to him, staring at him out of the corner of his eye.

"It's not that I don't like him, it's just that I don't twust him. I mean, look at him! He's quite litewally a tewminatow!" Zuma responded, gesturing to the robotic pup in the other room. "How can any of you twust the guy?"

"I get where you're coming from Zuma, but even then, he's clearly not evil, he's just curious about everything." Skye pointed out.

"I agree with Skye, I don't exactly get... well, why he's here, but he's definitely doesn't have any evil intent, that I can see." Everest added, looking over at AL, who was staring intently at something outside through the window.

"All of you have lost youw minds!" Zuma exclaimed.

At Jake's Resort on the mountain

A pup was in her room, writing a note to leave behind and making sure she was ready. It was clear she couldn't trust anyone else to do it, especially after the failure of 'The best assassin money can buy.' as Locke put it before he was arrested.

"If you want something done, you gotta do it yourself." The pup whispered to herself, making sure the firearm she was given would work. She didn't find any issues with it that she could see, so she holstered it and continued writing her goodbye note to Everest and Jake.

In the off chance that she fails, or she succeeds but Chase ends up killing her for cutting his sons life short, she wanted to leave behind a note explaining why she had done this and saying a final goodbye to the husky she almost considered a sister. When she was done writing the note, she hid it in one of the drawers in her bedside table. She told herself that she'd toss it in the lobby for them to see tomorrow morning.

She made sure everything was ready one more time, then left the room and made her way to the resort lobby. She was sure Everest would be back soon, and she wanted to greet her upon her arrival. While she claimed to hate Ace, she still loved the rest of the PAW Patrol.

Back at the lookout

The pups were all outside, surrounding Everest while saying their goodbyes. Everest was slowly walking toward her Snowcat to begin her trip back to the resort. Marshall was walking along with her, closer than the others were.

When she got to her vehicle, she thanked the others for letting her stay overnight and hopped in. She then turned toward the pups and Ryder and said goodbye to them all, they said goodbye back before beginning to wonder off. Eventually, the only pup left was Marshall, who was just sitting there. Everest started her Snowcat's engine before looking up and noticing Marshall was still there, Marshall closed his eyes, smiled, and waved to her.

"Goodbye Eve!" Marshall said goodbye to her. Everest did the same, smiling and waving to him.

"Goodbye Marshy!" Everest said before pulling off and beginning to drive up the tall mountain. Marshall watched her until she got too far to see, he then turned around and walked toward the lookout, still smiling.

Meanwhile, in the lookout's basement, Chase and Ace were in Chase's room, going through some boxes they had pulled from his closet. Ace was going through one of these boxes when he pulled out a bunch of green leaves tied together with a red bowtie.

"Oh, I forgot we got this." Ace said, looking at the leaves.

"Hmm? Oh, the mistletoe. Do you think it'll work?" Chase asked his son, curious about his opinion about it.

"Ehh, maybe. Will they even notice it when we do put it up?" Ace asked him back.

"Not sure. If we're lucky enough, maybe Ryder and Katie will walk under it together." Chase replied while giggling a bit at the thought, it was obvious to all the pups that those two had a crush on one another.

"Yeah, maybe if we succeed with matchmaking Marshall and Everest, we'll be able to play Cupid with those two." Ace said, also giggling before putting the mistletoe back into the box and closing it, tossing it back into the closet.

Chase then closed the box he was going through and tossed it back into the closet as well. He then grabbed the last box remaining and opened it, immediately seeing what he was looking for. The box was filled with newspapers, mostly from The Times and Barkingburg Tribune. He went through the box before pulling out five specific newspapers and tossing them toward Ace. Ace caught them and began reading.

"Alright, so what are these anyway?" Ace asked, noticing that they were all about Chase and Sweetie in some way.

"They're the papers printed after each of my visits to the kingdom to stop Sweetiem One of them actually talks about me 'betraying' the PAW Patrol, and joining Sweetie's side." Chase replied, pointing to one newspaper that his son was holding specifically.

Ace looked at the one Chase was pointing at and read. As Chase said, it spoke about his betrayal and him joining Sweetie in attempting to steal the crown of Barkingburg, with Marshall being hailed as a hero for stopping them this time. "W-What? You had betrayed the PAW Patrol?" Ace asked his father, very confused why he would've done this to the organization he loved so much and that he had helped in founding.

"It's a long story, I'd prefer not telling it." Chase replied, with a nervous smile on his face and scratching his head with his paw.

"I don't mind, I need to know this. I want all of the information about this!" Ace told him, gesturing to the newspaper. He was clearly upset that his own dad has betrayed his comrades.

"Alright then, I'll tell you." Chase said, hopping onto his bed and sitting down before he began. "A couple years ago, before Adventure Bay grew in size. The PAW Patrol hadn't gotten any missions in a couple months. I was worried that the others would eventually get used to it and soon become less effective if something big did happen. So I called up an old friend I had by the name of Sweetie, as you know, and asked her if she could help me execute a...'Fake mission', We'll say. She agreed, especially since I had saved her ass from the incident with Claw a few months before. She was happy to help and me and her began plotting, she'd attempt to steal the crown again, and when I was inevitably called there to stop her, instead of stopping her, I'd join her. Y'know, just to give the team a bit of a wake-up call and mix things up. Hell, we even managed to convince them that me and her had gotten together! Man, when Ryder heard about that I swear he lost his mind, he couldn't fathom me 'betraying' them all like that."

Ace was standing there, trying not to lose it in a fit of laughter. "I'm happy you didn't actually betray them, but what's this about Juniper?" Ace asked, gesturing to a certain section of the newspaper with a confused expression.

"Well... How do I explain this? Me and Juniper meeting at the theatre yesterday, wasn't the first time we met. The reason he acted like he knew me, was because he did. He was also in the plot. In fact, he was debatably more involved in it than I was. He loved the attention he got from being the villain!" Chase replied, laughing while telling the last half of the story.

"There's no god damn way." Ace exclaimed while reading the entire newspaper, despite his doubt, the newspaper confirmed everything Chase had said. "How convoluted is this? How dedicated were you!?" Ace asked, even more confused.

"Very, very fucking dedicated." Chase replied, losing his mind.

"Alright..." Ace said, he then read the rest of the newspaper and soon finsihed it. "I have one last question that this newspaper doesn't explain." Ace said.

"Shoot." Chase said to him.

"How did the other pups respond to this? And Ryder? Was he pissed with you?" Ace asked, extremely curious.

"They were all a bit pissed but they had to agree, it was hilarious in the end. I had made sure that by the end, no one was harmed, and nothing had been damaged." Chase replied. Well, mostly.

"And the princess?" Ace questioned.

"She just laughed it off after me and Sweetie explained everything to her. The Earl and Sir Claw wanted me thrown into the dungeon for treason, but Sweetie blocked it, and the princess backed her up, giving me a Royal Pardon for my 'crimes'." Chase replied.

After the two shepherds were exhausted from laughter from the story, Ace asked a question that had come to mind after Chase revealed that Juniper was apart of it.

"If Mr. Juniper was so quick to join you two, do you think he's secretly evil?" Ace asked him, Chase was silent for a couple minutes, thinking about it.

"I don't think he is." Chase finally replied. Though, he did join us before we revealed to him that it was a fake plot

A couple hours later...

On Juniper's private jet, leaving Barkingburg toward the Adventure Region

Juniper and Sylvia were sitting in luxurious chairs on the jet, chatting with one another and drinking champagne that Juniper had paid for. Sylvia was reading through some of the books that Juniper had laying around while they chatted.

"So, you and Chase knew one another back when you two were pups?" Juniper asked.

"Yeah, there was this sheep herding competition that Adventure Bay used to hold every year, back before it grew. I had won it the previous year and was ready to win it once again, before Chase joined that years competition. I kinda knew I was screwed when I heard about who he was." Sylvia replied, explaining the competition and how she still tried but still ended up losing to Chase.

Juniper listened and nodded between sips of champagne, being moderate with how much he drank, not wanting to get drunk. When Sylvia finally finished her story, she asked Juniper if them meeting at the theatre was the first time he had met Chase.

"No, me and Chase had met before our meeting at the theatre yesterday." Juniper replied to her, smiling as he answered the question.

"How did you two meet?" Sylvia asked, curiosity taking over.

"We met during one of Sweeties many attempts to steal the crown, I think the one where he 'betrayed' his friends." Juniper replied, not exactly sure on the details.

"Hmm, interesting." Sylvia said. I never knew Chase had betrayed his friends at one point, I need to research more about the PAW Patrol I guess.

That's the end of Chapter 10

I got some free time so I decided to write a short chapter here. Hope everyone is having a great Christmas.

Responding to Foxfire69 - The original plan was to have half of it dedicated to Chase and Ace and the other half being dedicated to Marshall and Everest. The reason most of it was cut though was because it would've just been the script to Romeo and Juliet, which I felt wasn't necessary.

Anyway, until the next Chapter, bye!
