Review Shoutouts
The Storyteller993 – We'll have to see won't we…?
Also, glad you enjoy the little comedy moments in this story.
The embodiment of weirdness – Thanks for always enjoying it. And yeah, among all the Majikoi routes in the original the one I most loved was Kazuko's with Mayucchi and Momoyo's coming in tied for second.
Dv880 – I really am sorry. But as for a straight-out harem-esque Majikoi story from the start? That would take a lot of planning. That kind of story seems more in line with the anime's retelling than anything else.
But still I'm glad you're enjoying the story and hope you'll still be able to enjoy it even while I'm doing individual routes.
As for your anime choices (in order): No, Yes, Yes, Heard of it, Heard of it. As for if I ever had any ideas, I may have dabbled in an idea of Maken-ki and Kampfer, but that's about as far as I went.
And to everyone who has enjoyed this series:
Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays!
Majikoi – Love Me Seriously - Kazuko Route
Daughter of Kawakami – Part 12
A Young Warrior – Part 1
August 31st, 2009, Monday
(Kawakami Temple)
Today was the day of the Kawakami Martial Arts Tournament…
Thirty-two fighters, along with thousands of spectators were assembled here. The largest event here in Kawakami had begun.
"Whoa, it's packed." Moro said looking at the crowd.
"Well this is one of Kawakami biggest events of the summer outside anything related to school." Yamato replied.
Miyako also felt sluggish, "I have large crowds… and it's hot."
"Oh! Guys, over here!" Kazama called over to them.
"Oh, there's Capt." Gakuto said.
"Even in this huge crowd, picking out Gakuto was easy as pie." Kazama said as the muscle of the group smiled "triumphantly."
"Wow, this is such a nice place. We have such a good view of the ring." Mayucchi said.
"Best sets in the house. Cookie really saved us the best." Said robot was actually quite frustrated with its master.
"Sheesh. Making me stand out here in the blazing heat since yesterday. It was awful." Cookie whined.
Miyako then took to soothing her by rubbing Cookie, "There, there. Good robot."
"Heck, if we're here then. Won't we feel the shockwaves from their techniques?" Gakuto asked.
"That'd be such a cool accident!" Kazama wasn't scared in the slightest it seems.
"Not at all!" Yamato protested.
"Then I will take up the responsibility of protecting everyone." Mayucchi said.
Miyako nodded in agreement, "I'll help too. So everyone sit back and enjoy."
"We can always count on you girls. Huh… where's Chris?" Moro asked not seeing the blonde German transfer.
"She'd texted me saying she's not feeling well." Kazama said.
"Huh? She never said anything to me… come to think of it… Oh no… she didn't… Did she?" Yamato was now worried.
"Really? And this is Wanko's time to shine too." Gakuto said a bit disappointed.
"But wait, I thought I saw Chris leaving the dorm this morning." Mayucchi told the others.
"Yeah, what's going on?" Miyako openly inquired.
"Where's Nagamasa?" Moro asked.
"He's Wanko's second, so he'll be in the waiting rooms with her where the other fighters and their supporters are." Yamato answered.
"Oh right, I forgot seconds can watch from the side of the ring." Moro said.
"Hey yeah, darn that Nagamasa, he's got the best seat in the house." Kazama whined.
(Meanwhile - In said waiting room…)
I wasn't even a fighter in this tournament and I could just feel the electrified tension in the air….
"I forgot how hot the city can get… Let's get the match started already." Kazuko said seemingly not bothered by it.
"Yamato just texted me and told me the rest of the Family are in the stands near the front row." I told her.
"Wow. Part of me's thankful. But another part just feels more awkward to be honest." Just then a familiar face came inside…
"Oh, there you two are. Wanko! Nagamasa!" The Goddess of Martial Arts called out to us.
The other fighters were awed that she of all people would come here, "H-Hey, that's Kawakami Momoyo."
"Make way for her, she'll send you flying with just a bump." Another fighter warned.
They parted like the Red Sea.
"I haven't seen you two in so long… You're looking good… nah, more like great Wanko!" Momoyo said.
"Long time no see, Onee-sama!" Wanko greeted her back. "But still, I won't hold anything back today, Kawakami Momoyo! I will… beat you!"
"I like your eyes. They truly look like they know what you want. I'll see you in the exhibition!" After that I heard even more whispering among the others.
"I really stand out it seems. See you soon." And so Momoyo made an exit just as bold as her entrance. Once she was gone, the tension dropped, and everyone relaxed.
"She's right though, a whole month without talking." I pointed out.
Kazuko looked at peace, "I'm so glad I got to talk to her. But I promise that won't affect our match!" Seems she was ready and raring to go.
Then a fighter approached us, "Hey, are you Kawakami Kazuko?"
"Who are you?" Kazuko asked him.
He pointed his thumb at himself. "I am Zakuro. The one who're destined to fight in the second round. You, the youngest daughter of Kawakami Temple will be the first to fall by my hands. Then, your sister, Momoyo will fall soon after. After that, I will be the greatest martial artist in the world. You two have the honor to be stepping stones in my legend. Congratulations."
"What the fu-?" Monologue much asshole?
"It's time. We're starting!" And so the first match was set to begin!
(Back Outside)
"Ladies and Gentleman! Welcome to the Kawakami Martial Arts Tournament! I'm Inoue Jun. I have bee selected as today's broadcaster after going through a rigorous screening process for today's event! And by my side today as my co-commentator is the one and only strongest fighter in Kawakami Temple, Kawakami Momoyo."
Said co-commentator was no amused, "We're paired up again? Let's get this over with."
"It's finally time for the first two fighters to step into the blazing heat and fight." Inoue started off.
"The winner gains th right to challenge me. I hope you'll all look forward to the exhibition match later." With that announcement, the crowd let out a cheer.
"Then for the first round, we have the rising wolf, Kawakami Kazuko vs. the Cannon of Las Vegas, Palrog!"
With that both fighters made their way out to the ring.
The Kazama Family cheered for her loudly, "There she is!" Kazama xheered.
"Wanko, good luck!" Moro cheered too.
"Kazuko-dono!" Yep, that's Hideo Kuki.
"Wow, there's so many people… But that doesn't change what I'm here to do." Wanko was ready and willing.
In the stands Mayucchi could feel the difference in Kazuko, "My goodness… Kazuko-san… She's truly stronger than when we last say her! Incredible!"
"Yeah, I don't think I could her unarmed anymore, actually… even with my bow I'd still have trouble with her. What did she do in the mountains?" Miyako wondered.
"Kawakami Kazuko's using her naginata, while Palrog's out there with only his fists! But this is mixed martial arts, so anything goes!" What was your first clue?
"As a friendly tournament between fighters, those using edged weapons are only allowed to use the flat parts of their blades or replica weapons provided by the temple. Kawakami Kazuko had gone with the latter, but that still doesn't make her weapon any lighter than a real one. Can Kawakami Kazuko use her reach to make up for the weight and strength difference?!" Way to play it up there baldie.
Tesshin was the referee, "Both fighters step forward. I shall be the referee. You will obey my commands."
"Yes, sir!" Wanko stepped forward.
"Yeah!" Palrog replied.
"A fighter is eliminated if they are knocked out of the ring, knocked unconscious, or I deem them unable to continue? Understood?" Tesshin looked between both of them.
(Kazuko vs. Palrog!)
"My fists will have your blood on them, pipsqueak!" Palrog taunted her.
"Then let's fight! Good luck!" Wanko said holding her naginata tightly.
"Then stand tall and fight fair! Now… begin!" Tesshin opened the first match!
"Oraah!" Palrog's opener was a vicious forward punch.
"Hmph!" But after he training it looked to her that Palrog was slow, and dodged by the slimmest of margins.
"Yeah, my eyes are in perfect condition." Wanko noted to herself.
But Palrog wasn't done as he continued to attack, "Uppercut!" He launched a strong upper which missed, "Straight punch!"
Wanko dodged again flawlessly, "I can see them!"
"She dodges left, then dodges right. Looks like Kawakami Kazuko's able to dodge everything Palrog offers her!" Jun began commentating.
"Then what about…? Three, two, one… Turn punch!" After a few wind-ups, Palrog let out a powerful charged punch.
"I'll dodge by a hair's breadth…" She did just that! "Now then to finish this… Kawakami Ultimate: Scorpion Strike!"
"Ugggghhh?!" Palrog fell just as the blow made contact. "Oh… oh… oh…"
"Palrog is already down!" Jun excitedly called.
Tesshin checked over Palrog, "The fighter is unable to continue. Kawakami Kazuko wins!"
Kazuko bowed respectfully, "Thank you very much!"
"Man. Wasn't she a fast one, Momo-senpai?" Jun asked his co-host.
"Yeah… Seems Wanko's taken it up a notch. Every movement served a purpose. Her moves have none of her old sloppiness. Now I'm really excite to see if she can land a blow on me…" Momoyo said.
"Huh? What do you mean?" Jun asked her about her last comment.
"Heh, that's between me and her." Momoyo said. "That's right. We kept that a secret from everyone not involved. How shocked would Capt and the others be if they knew this fight had her dream on the line…?"
"Her opponent, Palrog, was a good fighter, but it seems he couldn't keep up with this speedy Kazuko." Jun continued.
"Yeah, he played a good line. It's just that Wanko's that strong. She hasn't trained at the Temple for so long for nothing." Momoyo said.
Funny, I still remember that day you told her everything she'd done was for absolutely nothing.
"Sweet, that's one win down! Nice!" Kazama cheered.
"Keep it up!" Miyako cheered.
Wanko smiled as she heard the others, "Thanks, everyone!"
She then noticed one of them wasn't here, "Wait… Kuri's not here? What's going on?"
Oh… I know exactly what's going on.
Back in the waiting room—
"You have time until the next fight. So rest up." I tell Wanko.
"Okay…" She replies.
"While I hoped everyone here was as strong as Palrog, I know for a fact there's another one here who's on Kazuko's level." I thought to myself.
And how stupidly she's getting away with it…
Then that's when I heard it, "Zakuro's been knocked out of the ring! Yamhad's made it to the second round!"
"Lost already? Hah, so much for destiny." I said.
But with that, the matches continue on, "It's time for the fourth match of round one! The mysterious Miss Chivalry, versus the Thinking Jujutsu Master, Shibukawa Rekka!"
"Miss Chivalry?" Really Chris ? You couldn't come up with anything original? That just sounds cheesy and corny.
And out Chris came, "Step aside. I am Miss Chivalry."
I stood there saying nothing until I let out a breath I found I was holding, "Hey…"
"What?" 'Miss Chivalry' (Chris) replied with.
"If this new look of yours in meant to be a joke, it's not funny Chris." I told her straight up.
Chris merely scoffed, "I am not this Chris you speak of. I am Miss Chivalry. Isn't that right Maru-san?"
And out comes her second, Margit Eberbach, "That is correct, Frau Chivalry."
"No, it's quite obvious. You even used her nickname Chris." I told her.
"I have no idea who you even are, Azai Nagamasa." It was at this point I began hyperventilating angrily… "Uh! Ahem! I only knew of your name because of my Chivalry Power."
Margit then stepped in, "And you will accept that such mysterious powers exist."
"But… the author even wrote Chris in your dialogue." I said.
"That will be enough of your fourth-wall-breaking foolishness! It is time. To arms, Maru-san!" And off she went…
"At once, Frau Chris!" Margit replied.
"Ah! You weren't supposed to say that, Maru-san!" Chris panicked.
"There is nothing to fear, this lonely man heard absolutely nothing. Right?!" Margit tried threatening me, but I was not having it as I merely scoffed back with my hands tucked in.
"Oh, please go ahead. Attack me. I'm very certain then you know the rules say if I'm attacked it reflects very badly on your precious 'Miss Chivalry', correct?" I remind the German solider.
"Hmph… even so there is nothing you can do in revealing her identity, as that would seek to interfere in her mental state affecting her performance. One would call that 'cheating' would they not?" Margit argued back.
"As if… but go on fine. I don't care, just tell her to be more original next time." I tell her.
"Hmph…" And with that the German Hound walked off.
"I thought my disguise had been discovered. I didn't want to ruin the surprise. All right! Let's go! Tohh!" And with that 'Miss Chivalry' set off for battle.
"That's not even a disguise. Her obvious hair color is sticking out, Margit's following her familiarly, and she's literally named herself as her favorite concept, I mean… come on! Who's that stupid to fall for this nonsense?!
"Who was that? Do you know her, Nagamasa?" Wanko inquired.
It was in that moment, I heard what sounded like glass shattering… Nope, just turns out that was my brain failing… as my eye began to twitch.
I facepalmed, "I keep forgetting… you're just that stupid sometimes."
"Huh?!" Wanko was taken aback by my sudden insult, but it's not like I was surprised that Chris was here. I knew she'd be here from the start.
But that's fine. That's how this all started. The rivalry between these two is what's the catalyst for this fight today.
From schoolgirls dueling to having a dream on the line…
This battle has to happen…
And Wanko's gonna win it…
I know she can.
