Hello,
This will be the last chapter of this story. Since it contains a bit of smut, consider this a warning. ;)
Enjoy.
The sun was already warming up the earth as Bilbo walked into his garden.
At the moment, the temperature was quite pleasant to get some work done. Not like it would be in a few hours, when the heat of the day drove most people back inside.
Bilbo went to work with a smile on his face. Noticing that some of the vegetables he grew were ready to pluck.
First, he had to manage the weed though, which would take over his garden if he didn't remove it.
As he was working, Bilbo's mind wandered back to the last few months. Months wherein he and Thorin had been genuinely happy. Wherein Thorin accomplished to find a healthy work-life balance.
The dwarf even found some time to help Bilbo with readying the soil for his garden.
A task that would have taken a lot longer if he had to do it by himself.
If he were completely honest, he probably would have abandoned the idea if it wasn't for Thorin.
Once Bilbo was done with the weeds, he cleaned his tools and set them aside.
The hobbit sat down on the bench in his garden, admiring the beauty of it for a while.
The bench was too, an idea and creation of Thorin, who insisted Bilbo should be able to enjoy his little piece of nature to the fullest.
After he rested for a few minutes, Bilbo gathered a basket and started to pluck the ripe fruits from the garden. It delighted him to harvest the fruits, for it showed him once again anything was possible if you put in the right amount of work and care.
"Bilbo!" He heard behind him when he was plucking the last ripe tomato.
The hobbit turned around to find Thorin walking towards the garden.
Proudly he held out the tomato towards Thorin, wanting to show him his harvest.
"Oh no, watch out." Thorin yelped, ducking to the ground.
Startled, Bilbo turned around to get a view of the threat that Thorin warned him about. Only, there was nothing to be seen.
The dwarf started laughing at Bilbo's confused face, getting back up and crossing the distance between them.
"Tomatoes can be very dangerous, you know." He commented, taking the tomato out of Bilbo's hand. "I know a certain hobbit who can testify to that."
"You are not being funny, Thorin. You scared me." Bilbo interjected, however a grin spread over his face. "What are you doing out here anyway? Shouldn't you be working?"
"Aye, but as this is one of the last summer days. I decided I would rather spend it with you." Thorin spoke, then took a bite from the tomato before offering it back to Bilbo. "These are good."
"And what exactly were you planning on doing today?" Bilbo asked curiously.
"I'd like to fulfill one of my promises." Thorin replied with an amused look on his face. "I remember I was going to teach you how to swim. As far I can recall, I have only given you one lesson."
Bilbo frowned, getting uncomfortable by the idea of swimming. "Not exactly my definition of fun though."
"Come on, Bilbo. It's the end of summer." Thorin pleaded, pulling the halfling against him. "Days like these are scarce, we ought to enjoy them while they last. And swimming is a perfect way to keep cool when it gets hot today."
The hobbit didn't have it in him to decline the dwarf's proposal.
Although he certainly would regret it later, when he would be splashing around helplessly.
"Fine then." Bilbo admitted, gathering his basket. "Let's bring these to the kitchen. I'll make us some lunch to go and then we will go to the lake."
"Perfect."
The sun had gained strength by the time Bilbo and Thorin arrived at the lake. Making the hobbit huff and puff as they went up there.
Thorin had chosen a quiet part of the lake, where barely anyone would come. That also meant they had taken a harder route and although Bilbo was used to walking a lot by now, he still struggled with the tree roots.
"I'm tired already." He complained, setting the basket with lunch aside and sitting down on a rock. "I need some rest first."
"Suit yourself." The dwarven king, who was already getting rid of his clothes, replied. "I'm going to cool down."
Bilbo watched as Thorin waded into the lake, admiring the fine features he possessed.
It was something that Bilbo had seen multiple times by now, but the sight never ceased to amaze him.
Once the dwarf was in the water to his waist, he smoothly dove under the water' surface, only to resurface a few meters further.
Bilbo felt a soft sting of jealousy at the dwarf's graciousness in the water. In comparison to him, Bilbo would look like a flailing fish on dry land.
"The water is nice, Bilbo!" Thorin called out. "Come in!"
Bilbo sighed, then reluctantly undressed himself before moving towards the water.
As he waded into the lake, he noticed Thorin was right, the water cooled down his warm feet instantly.
Bilbo slowly proceeded into the lake, his body getting more engulfed by the water the further he got.
In the meantime, Thorin swam back to him.
"This will be far enough." Bilbo stated as the water came to his chest.
Thorin gently placed his hands on the halfling's back. "Let yourself fall back. We'll start with floating."
Bilbo raised his brow. "Excuse me?"
"Trust me, Bilbo." Thorin snickered. "I won't let you drown."
Bilbo did as the dwarf instructed.
Slowly he let himself lean back, supported by the hands of Thorin, until his feet were no longer touching the ground.
The back of his head was floating in the water, just like the rest of his body, giving Bilbo a feeling of freedom.
"You're doing great." Thorin commented, still supporting the halfling. "I'm going to remove my hands now. Just a little bit down. If you sink, they'll be right there again."
Bilbo swallowed hard, but he did not interject.
He felt the dwarf's hands disappear and to Bilbo's surprise, he kept floating.
"I'm doing it, Thorin!" He called out.
"Aye, I see." Thorin replied, taking a step back. "Now, lean forward again and place your feet on the ground."
Bilbo managed to do it without trouble, a smile plastered on his face as he turned towards the dwarf.
"Ready for the next step?" Thorin asked, now placing his hands on Bilbo's torso. "The same thing, only now forwards. Remember to keep your face out of the water."
This time Bilbo had a bit more trust. Smoothly he let himself float on his stomach, keeping his head above the water.
"You are a good student." Thorin remarked, surprised by the halfling's sudden confidence. "Can I let go?"
"I think so." Bilbo replied. "Just don't move away too far."
"You'll need to move your arms and legs a little to prevent sinking." Thorin warned before removing his hands from the hobbit and taking a step back.
For a few seconds, Bilbo stayed afloat.
Then his head went under, and it seemed like he had forgotten everything Thorin told him.
Panicking, he kicked and splashed in the water. Making a desperate attempt to surface again.
"Put your feet down."
Bilbo didn't register those words, he kept kicking and splashing, until Thorin grabbed onto him and pulled him back up.
Bilbo coughed and wheezed, wrapping his arms and legs around the dwarf, holding on for dear life.
"No more swimming!" Bilbo blurted out as he finally caught his breath. "I nearly drowned, again!"
Thorin chuckled. "No, you did not. I was right beside you the entire time. Only wanted to give you the chance to do it yourself."
"You bloody dwarf. I cannot swim!"
"You can stand here, Bilbo. I told you to put your feet down."
Bilbo glared at the dwarf. "I told you this is not my definition of fun."
"You seemed to be enjoying it quite well until now." Thorin pointed out. "Don't worry, you'll get the hang of it."
Bilbo sighed, nevertheless his annoyance was already fading away.
He was still wrapped around the dwarf, who gently held onto him.
Bilbo couldn't help but notice the dwarf looked incredibly sexy on that moment. His wet hair fell around his face perfectly, the amusement in his eyes made them sparkle.
Suddenly, he was very aware of the dwarf's muscled body against him, making Bilbo bite his lower lip.
Thorin noticed the change in Bilbo's mood.
The way the little hobbit was looking at him, made something stir inside his stomach.
"I guess the swimming lesson is over." Thorin concluded in a husked tone.
"Aye." Bilbo confirmed, then placed a gentle kiss on the dwarf's lips.
Bilbo felt his body react as their lips moved against each other. The coolness of the water giving it an extra erotic feel.
The dwarf's fingers found their way into his hair as he deepened the kiss. His tongue darting against the other's lips, slipping it in as Thorin's lips parted a little.
Their tongues explored one another, and Bilbo could feel the aroused state the other was in through the fabric of his underwear.
The evidence of his own arousal pressing against the dwarf's abdomen.
Thorin teasingly grinded his body against him, making a soft moan escape from his lips.
"We can't do this here." Bilbo objected halfheartedly. "Someone might see us."
"No one ever comes here. We will not get caught." Thorin quickly replied, crashing his lips on the ones of the hobbit again.
Again, the dwarf grinded his body against Bilbo, making the need intensify.
In return, Bilbo lowered himself a bit, making him able to grind against the dwarf's loins.
A muffled moan came from the dwarf's throat, urging him on to do it again.
Thorin, whose body was on fire by now, started to carry the halfling out of the water, never ceasing their kiss.
Once out of the lake, he settled himself on a patch of grass between the rocks, placing Bilbo on top of him.
His lips trailed from the halfling's mouth to his neck, making Bilbo shiver out of pleasure.
In a swift movement, Thorin removed Bilbo's slip, followed by his own. Letting out a small growl as he laid eyes on Bilbo's arousal.
With a gentle flick of his hips, Thorin slid into the hobbit, making the other moan loudly.
With a little encouragement, Bilbo started riding Thorin.
Quivering and whimpering as their tempo increased.
Thorin grasped the halfling's hips, steering him into a steady pace.
The hobbit shook on top of him, little sounds of pleasure escaping his lips and it did not take long for white arcs to shoot in the air, landing onto his stomach.
It was enough for him to lose control himself and with a few hard trusts, stars exploded before his eyes.
Bilbo slumped down onto the dwarf's chest, breathing heavily. He could hear Thorin's racing heartbeat like he could feel his own heart thumping in his chest.
"Wow." He eventually managed to get out.
"Wow indeed." Thorin replied, ruffling through the halfling's hair.
Bilbo looked up at the dwarf, giving him a warm smile.
"I guess swimming isn't that bad after all."
Thorin laughed. "Would you like more lessons?"
"I wouldn't complain if they always ended like this." Bilbo murmured contently.
"Is that so?" Thorin replied, letting his fingers trace over Bilbo's spine.
"Aye."
Without warning, Thorin rolled over, making him hover over Bilbo, pressing his hips onto the hobbit's.
Teasingly he started to nibble the halfling's ear, moving further down to his neck as he felt Bilbo grow again.
"Why leave it to one lesson a day?" He asked innocently before he continued to Bilbo's chest.
The halfling let out a little whimper, his fingers finding their way into Thorin's hair, pulling at it.
Thorin continued his downward journey, landing at Bilbo's belly button with his tongue, drawing circles around it. Meanwhile his hand slid down to the halfling's arousal, taking it in his hand and slowly stroking it.
Bilbo voiced soft moans of pleasure as Thorin continued his attack. His lips going down from the belly button to the loin.
Once there he paused a bit, yet his hand remained working at a steady pace.
For a moment, Thorin took in the sight of the hobbit, edging him on further as Bilbo's face was ecstatic.
He took a nip at the tip of Bilbo's arousal, making the halfling gasp, before he swallowed it whole.
He switched from mouth to hand and then again from hand to mouth until the halfling was a panting mess underneath him.
When he knew the hobbit was about to crumble underneath him, he stopped what he was doing, inserting a finger into the hobbit in return.
Bilbo buckled underneath him as his finger moved inside him.
"Tho..rin..!" He cried out, followed by another moan.
Thorin hovered back over him, crashing his lips on Bilbo's again.
Thorin replaced his finger with his arousal as the halfling started quivering underneath him, making him cry out in joy.
As he trusted into Bilbo, his lower abdomen stroked against Bilbo's shaft, making the hobbit growl out of pleasure.
Once more Bilbo buckled underneath him, making him increase his pace as he cried out: "Harder!"
The hobbit quivered underneath him, scratching at Thorin's back as he came undone for the second time. Thorin following right behind him.
Panting, Thorin rolled himself off Bilbo.
They laid in the grass contently for a while, staring at the blue sky above them.
It was only when Bilbo's stomach started to growl that they got pulled back to reality.
"You are hungry." Thorin said, stating the obvious.
Bilbo sat up and nodded. "That's what you get from all this swimming."
Thorin chuckled, then got up from the ground.
"Come on. Let's get cleaned up first." He said, holding his hand out towards Bilbo. "Then we'll have lunch."
"I've had enough water for one day, thank you very much." Bilbo replied, gathering his clothes.
"Bilbo, you might be a bit sticky." Thorin pointed out.
Bilbo's cheeks flashed red as he realized what Thorin meant.
"Right." He mumbled, before marching off to the lake, with a laughing Thorin behind him.
After they cleaned themselves and consumed their lunch, Thorin took out his pipe.
He lit the tobacco inside and took a long drag from it, then passed the pipe to Bilbo.
"We should return soon." He stated, staring into the distance. "I may have taken the day off, but someone will be looking for me by now."
Bilbo nodded but didn't really react to the dwarf, being too deep in thought to register anything he was saying.
"What's troubling your mind, Bilbo?" Thorin, who noticed the halfling's distraction, asked.
He gave the hobbit a little nudge as he didn't reply.
"Maybe we should get married." Bilbo blurted out, getting startled out of his thoughts.
A smile lit Thorin's face. "If that's what you wish, we can start making arrangements tomorrow."
Bilbo shook his head. "No. No, not like that. I mean, let's get married today."
"What do you mean, today?" Thorin asked, looking at the halfling in confusion. "We can't just announce we're going to get married today and expect everyone to be there."
"Not everyone needs to be there." Bilbo answered. "Let's get married in secret. No guests, no party, no fancy clothes. Just you and me. And the ones closest to us of course."
"You are serious." Thorin concluded, a glimpse of amusement visible on his face.
"Very serious." Bilbo admitted, eyeing the dwarf carefully. "As long you are in for it too."
Thorin pulled the halfling against him and placed a kiss on his forehead. "As long it makes you happy."
And so, it happened Bilbo and Thorin stood before Balin at nightfall. Dwalin and Frodo at their sides as best men.
Surrounded by their kin, who all hurried there as they received word of the instant wedding.
"I would ask if you have vows prepared." Balin started. "But since this was a last-minute call, I expect the answer to be no."
"I'd like to say something." Bilbo softly spoke.
"Go on then."
"From the moment you walked through my door in Bag End, I knew you were trouble. And trouble you have proven to be." Bilbo started his speech. "I got to know you as the crankiest, unpolite dwarf that walks middle earth. Shortly said, I got to know you at your worst. But then something seemed to change. As I earned your trust, I got to know a whole other side of you. The caring, trusting, loyal side, but also a fierce and relentless one.
Then you asked me, of all beings nonetheless, to help you search for your one. And looking back at it now, I guess I have always known my heart belonged to you. It only took me a while to realize it. We had our troubles and our problems over the months, but in the end I will always choose you."
Thorin desperately tried to hold back the tears that were burning in his eyes as he heard Bilbo's speech. Scraping his throat before starting his own vows.
"At the start it felt dreadful to find you as our burglar. You just did not look much of an adventurer and the reasons Gandalf gave to choosing you, failed to ease my mind." Thorin started, giving the halfling a warm smile. "But you proved me wrong along the way. In some manner, you were perfect for the task. You even put up with me. Then as Smaug was defeated and Erebor was restored, you stayed. You didn't go back to your books and your hearth as I expected. You even helped me to search for my one. Who, of course had been under my nose the entire time. I love you Bilbo Baggins, and I will love you until the day I die."
"Ok. That was something else." Balin commented, looking from Bilbo to Thorin and back again. "Let's get you married then."
"Do you, Bilbo Baggins, take Thorin Oakenshield as your husband?" Balin asked.
"Aye." Bilbo answered, taking the dwarf's hand in his. "I do."
"Thorin Oakenshield, do you take Bilbo Baggins as your husband?" Balin asked.
"Yes, I do."
"Then you may now kiss the bri… urhm… groom." Balin corrected himself, leading to giggles from everyone in the room.
Thorin and Bilbo did not mind though, the dwarf gently cupped the halfling's face in his hands, before planting a sweet kiss on his lips.
"You are mine now." Thorin stated, pulling the smaller being against him. "No more escaping."
"Wasn't planning on it." Bilbo retorted, wrapping his arms around the dwarf.
As they walked out, a rain of rice landed upon them, followed by the snickering of two young dwarven princes.
"Our marriage was so unexpected and still they manage to pull something like this off." Thorin sighed, shielding his hair with his hands.
"You couldn't really think we would let the two of you get married without having at least a little bit of fun." Fili called out.
"Uncle, you know us better than that." Kili continued.
As the newlyweds walked into the dining room, to their surprise, the tables were filled with food and ale.
"And no wedding without at least a small party." Kili, who had walked in right behind them, commented.
The rest of the company followed right after, everyone helping themselves to the food and the drinks.
The party went on deep into the night. Thorin and Bilbo slipping out somewhere halfway through, dying for some peace and quiet.
They made their way to the king's bedroom, dropping down on the bed as soon as they entered.
"What an exciting day this was." Bilbo spoke, turning himself towards the dwarf.
"Are you interested in a bit more excitement?" Thorin asked, his eyes shining mischievously.
Amusement appeared on Bilbo's face as he positioned himself on top of Thorin. "Can't get enough today?"
And as the fireworks outside started, the two of them experienced their own fireworks for the third time that day.
60 years later
Bilbo Baggins was sitting at the hearth, reading a book in his favorite chair.
Glancing up now and then to see the dwarven king eagerly working.
A smile appeared on his face as he took in the dwarf's features. The years had grayed his hair and his face had wrinkled a bit. Still, Bilbo found Thorin incredibly attractive to this day.
"What is it you are smiling about?" Thorin casually asked, looking up from his work.
"Nothing. I am happy. That is all."
Thorin grinned. "So am I, Bilbo. So am I."
The end. :)
