Robert and Holly got up the next morning and went down to join their family as soon as possible. Tiffany walked out of the room with Seana who was more impressed that her grandpa was there than her presents. "Grandpa!" She ran over to him.
Robert's whole face lit up as he scooped up his youngest grandchild. "There's my girl. Are you excited to open presents?"
Seana nodded and gave Holly a hug.
Robert took her over to the tree and sat down.
There was a knock on the door. "I hope you all don't mind I invited Cameron over." Emma got up to go answer it.
"Oh not at all. The more the better!" Holly smiled as she got a present for Seana. Ethan and Annie had come over to sit near her too.
Emma gave her boyfriend a hug. "Hi Cam, you are just in time."
"I was going to wait until later but my brothers went through their presents like they were nothing." Cameron hugged Emma back then walked over with her. "Hi everyone."
"Hello Cameron." Holly smiled as she grabbed a present out from under the tree. "Santa didn't forget you here either."
Emma was surprised but so happy Cameron was included. "Thank you Grandma Holly and Grandpa." She gave Holly a hug then the two of them sat down.
Everyone enjoyed opening their presents and seeing what they had gotten each other and what Santa had brought. They were down to one last present and Ethan picked it up. "It's for you dad."
Robert took it and read the tag. "From your secret admirer." He looked over at Holly. "This better not be you trying to get my bottom in shape."
Holly could not help but laugh.
"Grandpa!" Emma shook her head but smiled, it was good to see him this happy again.
"I swear they have been like this since the eighties darling." Tiffany told Emma as she helped Seana open up one of her dolls.
Robert opened the present to find two tickets to Paris, dated for two days after the anniversary of when they originally legally got married. Which turns out to still be their legal anniversary.
"If you can't go because of work we can see about returning them." Holly didn't want Robert to feel like he had to skip out of his job already.
Robert shook his head, he was speechless but it was because of the love her felt for his beautiful wife. "I told you you always come first and I meant it. I do think you picked our vow renewal though." Robert grinned at her. He got up and went over to the closet, pulling out a wrapped box. "We have one more."
Holly grinned as she took it from him. She opened it up to find a cute little stuffed animal and plane tickets to Paris, dated for May. Holly laughed. "Great minds." She gave Robert a hug and a kiss. Her eyes lighting up. "We don't have to go both times..."
"Ah but you see, we do. I insist." Robert wrapped his arms around her and kissed her.
"You two are so sweet." Jayne smiled at her parents who had seemed to forgot everyone else was in the room.
Holly gave her daughter a hug. "I'm so glad you are here and getting to know our family, finally."
"We had a lot of fun last night." Emma smiled at her aunt. "It's cool I have her and Uncle Ethan now. Even if I've always had Uncle Ethan."
Ethan hugged Emma. "You know you always will."
They had all cleaned up and had breakfast, knowing that they had all planned on spending the day together and still had family and friends that were going to pay them visits.
"Do you think you'll have to work today?" Holly asked Robert, she knew what being the commissioner usually meant, she wasn't going to complain. She was very proud of him but she definitely still wanted their first Christmas back together to not be interrupted.
"I don't think I will." Robert wrapped his arms around Holly. "2024, the year we double up on Paris." Robert's whole face lit up. "I can't wait to have you all to myself."
Holly grinned at him and gave him a kiss. "Selfish." She teased him. "I can't wait either." She wrapped her arms around his neck.
