Chapter 6: the demon mist and betrayal of the mirror

[Konoha outside gates]

Teams 7, 8, and 10 were waiting on Kakashi for their mission to start as Tazuna is tapping his foot.

"Hey Naruto, is your sensei always like this?"

"Yes Kiba, but there's a reason why he's always late like this."

"Let me guess, something to do with the third ninja war?"

"Yep you're right on that Shikimaru, but here he comes."

As Kakashi arrives Naruto begins to have a bad feeling coming off Sasuke and grips his staff twice signaling the others to be wary on the mission.

[near the land of waves]

Teams 7, 8, and 10 are escorting Tazuna when they come across a puddle of water and walk past it as the demon brothers jump out of the puddle and are about to attack the Jōnin senseis the brothers' chain blade is blocked by a three pronged Kunai and the brothers are wrapped in the Demon shadow binding jutsu.

"Good work you two, Naruto, Shikimaru, you handled by that like real ninja." Says Asuma crossing his arms.

'Damn it all the hell, they were supposed to be my enemies to beat Naruto, when we get the chance I'm gonna make you pay for that.' Thinks Sasuke angry that he wasn't able to show off his skills.

"Thank you Asuma but the question is, why are you so adamant that I maybe someone, Tazuma?"

"What do you mean?"

"You keep on whispering about the successor of Ninsū, what do you mean by that?"

"Brat calm down, you know about Ashura and his brother, it's about them."

'Thank you Kurama'

"Well you see the Uzumaki clan left a temple here along with a prophecy that the successor of Ninsū would come from a land of flame and have wisdom beyond his years."

'That is definitely something that a Uchiha should have not the dope and if he does, I'll burn the temple along with him.' Thinks Sasuke with an evil smirk.

'He's planning something isn't he Kruama.'

"That damn Uchiha brat has the same evil smirk as Madara had when he gained control of me, be careful Naruto."

"Naruto, there's a specific nerve in the back of a Uchiha's neck that will depower the Sharingan temporally, aim for it" Says a worried Minato.

"PUT HIM IN THE GROUND IF HE TRIES ANYTHING!"

When Kushina yells out loud Naruto began to have a bit of a headache.

"Naruto are you alright?" Says Shikimaru looking at Naruto with the rest of the group.

"I'm fine, just Kurama being himself."

"Who's Kurama?" Says Asuma worrying if the Kaiubi is making him go crazy.

"The nine tail's real name, don't go flinging it around now you know it, now let's continue this mission, and gang gloves on."

As Naruto says this only the senseis, Sasuke, and Sakura are completely confused about why he said that.

"What gloves are you talking about dope, and if they give you the ability to use techniques that no other ninja can do, give me one of them." Says Sasuke demandingly.

"I wouldn't give you a boot filled with water with the instructions written on the soul of the boot, why would I give you a glove that you can't even use properly, nor trained with, a untested weapon will work the way you want it to, now are you going to come out mist demon."

As Naruto says this the group is surrounded by a heavy fog.

"Everyone group up around Tazuna, senseis mind assisting me in this fight?"

"Let me guess, it's one of the demon swordsmen of the mist right?" Says Asuma.

"Yeah and HIT THE DECK!"

As Naruto yells this everyone got down as the executioner blade spins over them and lands in a tree in front of them.

"Zabuza the demon of the mist, I suppose that you thought that we'd be killed by the demon brothers before we got to you?" Says Naruto with a smirk.

"Well well well, they teach about criminals in the bingo book in the leaf, got to say that's impressive." Says Zabuza crossing his arms.

"No personal tutoring from a former Anbu."

"Ah that makes more sense, which means that you're more...you're blind."

"What Zabuza, scared of a blind ninja? Or is it that I have an obvious weapon."

[flashback, Konoha,training ground seven, post bell exam]

To say that the team could work was an overstatement, outside of completing the mission the only one that was not totally distracted was Naruto.

When the team was not on a mission, Naruto was either doing meditative exercises in the Hyūga compound, or tending to his plants that he'd acquired.

One day after team 7 had done a mission Kakashi asked Naruto why was he so distant from his teammates and he only had this to say.

"Although Sasuke is talented and Sakura is smart, they know nothing about teamwork or true trust, Sasuke is so arrogant that it blinds him to think that he deserves everything for something he didn't do, and Sakura is only playing ninja and not taking her training seriously, sure she has the potential, but her drive is nonexistent, she only wants to be a ninja to get closer to Sasuke, and to be honest, I don't know how he got through the academy with his anger issues."

"I know what you mean, all I see is revenge in his eyes, people praising him and saying that he'll restore his clan's honor only fuels his rage."

"Do you think that the first difficult job we do he's gonna do something stupid?"

"There's no denying that possibility Naruto, and why didn't you use your sword during the bell test, nor any jutsu?"

"Because then it would be boring."

[flashback ends]

When Sasuke and Sakura heard this they were shocked and thought that he was lying, but before they could get a word in Zabuza had three kunai in his hand.

"I have faced a blind samurai before, but a blind ninja, that's something that I hate to say, am terrified of, but since you're a Genin, I'm a bit less scared."

When they heard that Naruto chuckled a bit.

"I understand your fear Zabuza, facing a samurai and a ninja are two different things, one is held back by honor, while the other." As he stops mid sentence and draws his sword from his walking staff.

"The other is not and is unpredictable, NOW!"

As soon as Naruto yells that a roar can be heard as a reptilian creature comes crashing down from above and is in between Zabuza and the rest.

"Tatsurian, attack Zabuza!" Yells Naruto at the now known, to those who didn't know, as Tatsurian

"Say less Naruto." As Tatsurian turns to Zabuza and breathes fire at him.

Zabuza jumped out of the way dodging the fire blast. 'This kid summoned a beast before we started fighting, so he has a summoning contract, that's bad, if he has sage jutsu then I'm in big trouble.'

'Heh a powerful beast for me to control to kill Naruto, the perfect way to do it is to make it look like an accident.' Thinks Sasuke smirking his evil smirk.

'He's thinking of something to botch this mission, I just know it.' Thinks Naruto feeling his smirk from a great distance. "Tatsurian focus on close combat, don't engage in long range combat!"

As soon as Naruto says this Tatsurian looks at him and nods then charges at Zabuza.

'Wait why did he tell the beast to engage in close quarters combat, long range would work better and with Kakashi there he could effectively kill me, why send his beast at me?'

"Are you crazy! Long range is clearly better against him, Now I Sasuke Uchiha demand you beast to attack him with your fire!!" Yells Sasuke casting a weak lo level Genjutsu at Tatsurian.

"Quite weakling, you're not my duelist so I won't follow your orders, and Genjutsu doesn't work on us Kaiju." Says Tatsurian.

When everyone heard this Zabuza immediately knew what Naruto was thinking.

'He's trying to make it so that realize that the world doesn't revolve around him.' "I have to say, you're smart kid, summoning a beast resistant to Genjutsu while fighting me is a smart move, but foolish!" As Zabuza brings down his sword a second reptilian creature appears and blocks his blade with its arm blades.

"We won't lose this fight!"
