A Phantom's Love and Courage

Chapter 21: More Attacks and Misunderstandings: Another Battle with the locci's

Sailor Moon and her fellow guardians soon arrived at the arcade's building rooftop for the meeting.

The arcade was currently emptied of any civilians from the whole area, mostly due to people trying to avoid more locci attacks.

"Huh? On time for a change...how surprising..." Mars snarked.

Sailor Moon glared at her.

"I was the one who called this meeting, and I'm not ALWAYS late, ya know!..." She yelled at her.

Mars and Moon soon got into one of their typical arguments, while the other guardians sighed.

"Some things never change..." Mercury said as they let the two resume and waited for the shouting match to reach its usual conclusion.

She then noticed a dreamy daze on Venus's face, and an awkward one of Jupiter's.

"Is everything okay?..." Mercury asked while Jupiter flinched.

"Oh...uh...yeah...everything is fine..." Jupiter said, still a little apprehensive about seeing Phantom again after that accidental kiss.

Venus, on the other hand, let out a dreamy sigh.

"Oh, things are so much better than fine...they are just wonderful..." Venus said happily, cheeks rosy with a blush.

The girls, including Moon and Mars, noticed this and could guess what this is about.

"Let me guess...it has something to do with seeing Phantom again?..." Moon guessed as Venus grinned.

"Yep. Who knows, if I play my cards right you'll all find me calling him my soon to be boyfriend. Heck, he already IS my soon to be boyfriend..." Venus said with a twirl, as she daydreams about the ghost hero

"Oh please...Venus, each cute boy is your soon to be boyfriend until he either is in a relationship, is oblivious or you find one thing that's wrong with them, loss interest and then move on to the next target. What makes Phantom any different?..." Mars asked, being used to Venus' boy crazy antics and recalling past incidents

"He is a cute and amazing hero, he is brave and he even the most adorable dimples ever. I am sure he likes me...that kiss tells me a lot..." Venus said, getting her friends' attention.

"Wait?! He KISSED you?! When?! How?! Where?!..." Jupiter exclaimed, much to the others' surprise.

"Oh, last time after you guys left...though I was the one who kissed him as a thanks for saving me...but he didn't back away when I kissed him, so that has to mean something good. I bet he loved it too..." Venus said with a giggle, while the others were shocked to find out that Venus also shared a kiss with Danny Phantom.

Hearing that made Jupiter feel a spike of jealousy, but she wasn't sure why.

"Why is this bothering me? It was an accidental kiss and it's not like he is my boyfriend. Still, if he likes someone else, why go and kiss Minako-chan? Doesn't make sense. Did he just say that because of my height?..." Jupiter thought, a confusing mix of emotions stirring inside her.

"I can't wait to see him soon…" Venus gushes. "That kiss was certainly something neither he and I will never forget..." She sighed dreamily, holding her face with her hands.

"You sure you didn't scare him away?..." Mars snarked.

"Ha ha... well, we'll see whose laugh is heard by dead last..." Venus went.

"You mean who gets the last laugh?..." Mercury asked.

"Yyyyeah, that too..." Vernus went.

The girls waited for the ghost boy to arrived, wondering what his side of the story is.

Especially Jupiter, who he confided in.

"Why do all these thoughts make my chest felt heavy?..." Jupiter asked herself, as she placed her hand over to where her heart is.

Mercury noticed that while Mars and Moon were back to arguing again, Venus was daydreaming about Phantom again, Jupiter was the only acting unusual. She noticed that the tallest sailor guardian was being extra quiet and had a quizzical look on her face as if Jupiter is deep in thought about something.

"I wonder what's going on with Mako-chan?..." The blue hair heroine thought as the other guardians did their own thing.

With a sigh, she figured it would be best to help. As the others were preoccupied, it was the only option she could think of. How often it was to be sometimes the only sane girl of the group.

Mercury decided to approach Jupiter and offer an ear to listen in case the brunette girl's thoughts were troubling her in some way or form.

"Is something wrong?..." Mercury asked.

"Huh? Oh? Kind of? Not sure how to put it..." Jupiter said, not wanting to talk about it.

Mercury didn't seem all that convinced.

"Mako-chan?..." Mercury tried again but the tall girl avoided eye contact.

"It's nothing to worry about. My mind just started to wander and I can worry later..." She said, wanting to end this.

Mercury nodded, figuring now wasn't truly the time ask.

She knew she knew better than to push the issue any further with Makoto. So she decided to pull back for now, until her tall yet feminine friend was in a much more willing mood discuss about what was troubling her.

Perhaps then, she'll help her find a solution.

Meanwhile

In America

Sam Manson was in a bad mood, more so than usual.

Her best friend was still on the other side of the world and she hasn't heard a word from him in forever.

"He's probably giving puppy dog eyes to those so called "heroes" in brightly colored skirts that even Paulina would find skimpy..."Sam thought, jealousy rising.

She tried to ignore it and went on with her day.

She tried to rationalize her NOT-JEALOUS thoughts and realize how ridiculous her thoughts are and remind herself of their reality of the situation.

"What am I worried about? Danny is probably too busy stopping whatever danger Clockwork warned him about and will be back in a few days tops. I doubt anything serious could happen between him and those floozies during that time frame...and even if he did have more time, they'll probably say no to him..."She thought, making herself feel much better.

Sam then remembered that there was 10% off sale at the Skulk and Lurk bookstore at Amity Park Mall and she was looking to find some more books involving the paranormal.

"Yeah, that's what I need. Some gory gothic books to make me feel better while Danny saves the day with those probably as shallow as a puddle sailor floozies who probably never wouldn't even bother getting to know the real him besides his superhero side in a million years..."She thought, ironically judging them without knowing them herself and some of her parent's threats were subconsciously rubbing off on her.

That didn't matter, all that did was that if she knew Danny as well as he did, he'd be unable to make a move.

The goth girl then decided to go get some new books, unaware that Danny now has not one but two of these girls falling in love with him.

And that the the ghost boy would have to make a decision that'll change nearly everything for all teenaged super-powered heroes involved.

Back in Japan

Danny was still flying as he headed to where he'd meet the girls.

"I hope that Venus keeps what happened on the down low..."He thought as he flew as fast as he could to the currently vacant Juuban arcade is.

He kept flying and glance at his watch, realizing he was already running a few minutes late. He sighed.

"Oh man, I hope that being a few minutes late isn't considered too much of a big deal for them. Hopefully they'll still be there..."He thought, a little nervous.

After another five minutes, he soon arrived to aforementioned arcade.

"Made it..." He said, as he tried to find his temporary teammates.

After a few moments, someone called out to him.

"Phantom-san!..." Was heard.

Danny turned around and spotted the Sailor Guardians.

"Oh good, they really were waiting for me..." He said, relieved to see them.

"Hey..." He greeted.

"Took you long enough..." Mars muttered impatiently.

Danny frowned.

"Sorry, had to take care of something before I got here..."He said, doing his best to keep his cool and not get into an argument with the red sailor guardian.

Although Danny could already tell from one glance from Mars that she was still reasonable cautious around him, the ghost boy didn't take it too personally. If he were in her shoes, granted he wouldn't wear red high heels, then he he'd might probably be a little wary around super-powered strangers too.

"I guess we finish this quick, the less I have to put up with her glares, the sooner I go home..." He thought, figuring there wouldn't be a point in truly earning her trust anyway.

He ignored that in favor of the rest.

As Danny reunited with the Guardians, one of them, Sailor Venus, got in his face.

"Hi, Phantom-san! How are you?..." She went happily, sending him a flirty look.

"Oh... uh..." Danny went, his face red due to the mixed feelings he had for her.

On one hand, she's very clingy. On the other hand, she's also very beautiful and he respected her heroism.

"How are you feeling since last time?..." Venus went with wink, recalling the kiss.

"Uh... oh... I'm doing... a-ok!..." Danny went nervously with a thumb's up.

"Right... right..." Venus went with a nod.

As she turned around and returned to her friends, Danny's face felt like it was on fire.

"Why is someone way to overwhelming also a 50 on a scale of 1 to 10 on the please be future Mrs. Fenton meter?..." He thought, slightly worried that his face might give away how hot under the collar he's feeling right now.

Jupiter's saw this and frowned, crossing her arms as she pouted a bit at Venus being a little overly flirty with Phantom.

"Does she have to be so obvious with her flirting?..." She muttered as she tried to take her mind off of Mina's attics for a brief moment.

She looked at her cell phone and saw message from Danny.

The human Danny who has become her friend and the only cute boy she knew that wasn't bothered by her height or strong sense of justice.

The tall heroine immediately turned her frown into bright smile as she saw the message that human Danny left for her earlier today.

She wanted to see him, her feelings for him growing.

"I wonder what Danny-kun is doing right now? I wish I could talk to him right now..." She thought, wondering if it would be alright if she sent him a text.

However, she knew that now isn't the time and they had to focus on their duties as heroes.

"Now is probably not the best time to make any plans with him today. I'll just sent a quick message that I'll call him once my schedule is free..." She thought, hoping that Danny won't think that she's trying to avoid him.

"He can wait until things are safe... relatively safe for Juuban. For now, I'll have to spend time with this Danny..." She thought, looking at him disapprovingly.

Danny noticed her staring and flinched.

"Why is she looking at me like that?..." He thought while Venus kept flirting with him.

"So... have you been looking forward to seeing me?..." Venus asked sweetly.

"I've been looking forward to seeing all of you. We got a job to do, after all..." Danny said while tensed up from how close she is.

Mercury saw how he was acting, stroking her chin in thought.

"If they kissed, he shouldn't look so uncomfortable with her. This must mean the kiss was entirely one-sided..." She reasoned under her breath.

That's when she got an alert on her phone. Looking at it, she saw photos of 2 mysterious creatures on it.

"I just got word that more locci's were spotted by the Rugby stadium..." Mercury said.

"Then I guess we'd better get a move on and stop them. We probably should split into teams and cut down their numbers.." Danny said, before someone quickly volunteered to share a team with him.

"I'm on Phantom's team!..." Venus said as she clung to his arm.

This action made Danny blush bright red, while the other girls sighed in unison.

"Predictable..." Mars snarked while the blonde heroine pouted.

"What? Someone has to look out for Phantom-san, since he doesn't know the area like we do. I say that'd be me..." Venus said, refusing to let go.

"Why do I get the feeling that she wants to use this as a chance to kiss me again? Not that I'm 100% against it... maybe 50%?..." Danny thought while Jupiter sent them a dirty look.

"She can't wait until AFTER we beat the bad guys? Wait, why does this still bother me?...oh right, he said he likes someone else...and yet isn't pushing off Mina-chan..." She thought, figuring his hormones were at work.

However, Jupiter still want to do Sailor Guardian hero duty. So she'll have to figure out how to juggle both at once while on this mission.

"He needs someone close by to show him the ropes. And I just so happen to know the layout of this part of Juban like the front of my hand..." Venus said, still not letting go.

"Why does it sound like she rehearsed that line a lot, but STILL managed to say that saying wrong?..." Danny thought, while trying not to let his face look like he got a massive sunburn.

"You mean like the back of your palm?..." Jupiter corrected.

"Yeah, that too..." Venus said, as she kept sending goo goo eyes at the nervous ghost boy.

Jupiter frowned.

"Maybe I should tag along too, that way if they get ambush by the enemy then at least one of us will be able to warn the others..."She thought, worried that Mina's focus might get divided during this mission.

That and for another reason even she wasn't completely sure about yet.

Something about her around Phantom made her feel upset, for reasons she doesn't quite get at the moment.

With that the teen superheroes were split into two three person teams. One side had Sailor Moon, Mercury and Mars. While the other had Danny Phantom with Sailors Jupiter and Venus.

"I am on a team with TWO super hot heroes and one of them is hanging onto me and flirting with me too. Why isn't this as much fun than it already kind of it?..." Danny thought as Venus kept holding onto his arm.

"Lead the way, Phantom. Oh wait, maybe I should lead instead. You still don't know your way around these parts yet. Better stay close to me, so you don't end up getting lost..." Venus said cutely.

"Uhhh..." Danny said, his uncertainty on returning Venus' affections growing.

"I'm holding on tightly, Phantom-san. Don't worry, I'll be by your side..." Venus said in a coy way.

Danny gulped.

"Please don't let this end with my pants becoming intangible like that time with Paulina..." He thought, his natural shyness around girls acting up again.

"Venus... you'll have to let go of him if he's going to help us...like he was sent to do..." Jupiter reminded her.

"I know... but we're not in danger right now, are we?..." She asked, refusing to let go.

Danny sighed, unsure how to handle her.

"Well on the plus side... if I'm stuck with her and things don't work with Makoto... she's a guaranteed prom date..." He thought in bittersweet amusement.

Jupiter shook her head.

"I swear, she must be hearing wedding bells in her head, so hard she can barely see how conflicted he is..." She thought.

There was just something about Danny Phantom that both caught and peaked Jupiter's curiosity, but she just pin down the reason why.

At least not yet.

For now, there was work to do.

Later

At the Rugby Stadium

Danny and his female allies were close to their destination...with Venus still clinging to him as Jupiter was still sending him dirty looks when she thought he wasn't looking.

But the ghost boy could certainly tell that Jupiter was sending a dirty look. He simply didn't point attention to it mainly because he was worried that it distract them from the mission of hunting down a villain.

There was still the part of him that both loved and hated the situation he was in.

"14 years of nothing and then bam! I am not only out with 5 girls that outrank Paulina in the looks department, but I accidentally kissed one of them and another one is all over me. That's not even taking the two non-superheroes where they're both pretty and really seem to like being around me..." He thought, finding it ironic.

Although this outing feels a bit more awkward than exciting. Especially since of the four, his heart went to Makoto, while arm was currently belonging to Sailor Venus.

The look on Jupiter's face remained in the back of the ghost boy's mind for quite awhile, even with his face currently turning into a new shade of red from Venus' flirting.

"She doesn't really think I want this, does she? Granted, I don't hate it... I hate that I don't hate it... Although... Venus is a total babe, so ma- NO! Don't think that! Think of Makoto... no matter how much Venus is stuffing her way in there..."He thought, trying to ignore his hormones and focus on the mission.

The heroes soon arrived to the stadium, and saw that Tuxedo Mask was there while the area is deserted.

The stadium was empty, likely due a special event held at one of the other town next over that's currently hosting a sports tournament and, drawing attention away. One of the good things about Japan is local and special events.

"Tuxedo Mask!..." Moon went, happy to see him.

"I arrived as soon as I got your message..." He said.

"Thank goodness you did, we could use all the help we could get right now..." Mercury said, glad to see him.

"But of course. And I see that you brought some assistance with you. Let's hope this Dead-Weight can be of some help..." Tuxedo Mask said as he spotted Danny.

Danny frowned at that.

"Oh I'll be fine Butler-man, but I doubt you'll need any help finding a dust cloth since you're wearing one as a cape..." Danny said, striking a nerve in the other male hero.

"This costume is the embodiment of bravery and stylish elegance! Not to mention that this outfit is handcrafted at a tailor's shop!..." Tuxedos Mask said defensively.

"Yeah...maybe...at a local dinner theater with college actors performing on a budget..." Danny said sarcastically, getting under his skin.

The ghost boy and Tuxedo Mask locked eyes with one another electricity crackled between them, the two were only a few more insults away from trading words with one another to trading fists until Sailor Moon got between them.

"You two, now is not the time for you both to be acting like little kids in a playground fight. Save those attitudes for when we meet the bad guy..." She said, being the mature one for a change.

"She is right, now is not the time for a silly guy fight..." Jupiter said, arms crossed.

Danny cringed, while Tuxedo frowned.

"He started it first!..." He muttered.

Tuxedo was about to respond, until Sailor Moon quickly stopped him by covering his mouth with her hand.

"I don't care who started what! I'm the one that ending it here and now!..." Moon said, shocking a lot of the heroes with her surprisingly scolding sounding tone to the two male heroes.

"What's going on here?..." Mars questioned in disbelief.

"When did she get mature?..." Venus questioned as Jupiter and Mercury held onto each other out of fear of the situation.

Danny paid no mind to that, only reminding himself not to act like this.

"Remember Fenton, every group of friends has at least one or two people that difficult to get along with at first..." He thought, reminding himself that some people have a hard time trusting new people.

Just look at Sam Manson, a perfect example of someone that doesn't trust new people even after a good first impression.

He pushed that thought out in favor of the current situation.

They had bad guys to find and stop.

Mercury activated her Mercury Visor to scan the surrounding area, trying to spot any enemies. Within a few seconds later, the Mercury Visor started giving off signals of enemies in the area.

"I don't mean to disrupt things, but I've got multiple enemies readings ahead..." She said, being serious as they kept looking around.

All the heroes were on high alert, but were a bit limited on terms of scope and vision with their current vantage point.

"I don't see anything..." Jupiter said, keeping her eyes peeled for any abnormalities.

"Do you think they could hiding within the stadium?..." Mars questioned out loud, while not letting her guard down for a moment.

"Maybe they could buying stadium snacks and formed a really long line. Speaking of which, I'm getting hungry again..."Sailor Moon said in her usual immature way, earning a sigh from her team.

"I knew it wouldn't last..."Mars muttered, while Moon wondered what she meant.

"Anyway, what are we gonna do about all the enemies that we currently can't see? It's not like any of us can can track them down with some type of detection power..." Jupiter said, while the ghost boy got an idea.

"I'll go get a birds eye view. Maybe with enough luck, we might just find them lurking somewhere or get some clue as to where the real Locci is hiding..." Danny suggested.

"Good idea. We'll hold the fort here..." Jupiter said.

"You just do what you do best, besides being cute..." Venus said with a cute smile, while Danny blushed uncomfortably.

"U-um...alright..." He said as he went into the air, wanting to track down the locci sooner than later.

As Danny went to the air to get a better look, another member of the team arrived.

"Girls!..." Luna said, as she ran to them.

"Luna, where have you been?..." Moon asked, as she picked her up.

"I don't wanna talk about it..." Luna said, recalling the embarrassing moment earlier.

Before she could say anything else, Sailor Moon picked her up.

"Shush...there loccis around here..." Moon said, wanting to keep the element of surprise on their side.

The cat like alien was silent, as she realized the seriousness of this situation.

"What's the game plan?..." Luna asked.

"For now it's scouting the area and pinpointing the enemy's whereabouts. We'll have to plan for the rest afterwards..." Mercury explained, as she keep her Mercury Visor out in case of any other surprise readings from the enemy.

"Stay vigilant Sailor Moon. While we're busy searching for the enemy, our foe may be proceeding in a similar fashion..." Tuxedo Mask said with an air of caution around him.

"You got it, Mamo-chan..." Moon said.

Danny, all the while, was searching from the skies. He could almost feel the loccis arriving, and his paranoia was spot on as he saw something that caught his attention.

That is when the swarm arrive.

"Incoming!..." He said, getting the Sailor Guardians attention.

"They are here!..." Mercury shouted, as the guardians put their guards up.

They saw about a dozen or so locci's appearing through the stadium doors, and they did NOT look friendly to say the least.

"We've got a small army heading our way! Everyone get ready!..." Danny said, as he landed beside his allies.

With that said, all the heroes took on battle ready poses as the small swarm of enemies Locci's started entering the stadium's field.

Danny Phantom, Tuxedo Mask and the Sailor Guardians all glared at the enemies, ready to fight.
