Chapter 1: Mundane Living

The night was cool, and calm as the noise from the city had simmered down for the first time in what seemed like ages. It was the type of night that many would dream as it was one to savor as long as it could last…..

"MOTHER-FLUFFER!"

Until it wasn't

"SLAM!:

Followed by the sound of his side of the wall cracking a bit and knocking down some of the portraits he had hanging to the floor.

"Goddammit, what is it now"

His bloodshot eyes looked at the timer and realized that it was ten past three in the morning, and the noise of the wall behind made such an impression that it continued to jolt his entire bed from the sheer loudness.

Though his entire body wanted him to stay in bed, and tried hard to prevent him from moving, he instead opted to ignore it as the last thing he wanted was to keep hearing the loud noise keeping him from having his well-deserved rest.

Wanting to get this over with in order to get back to sleeping, he took no time in getting himself clothed in his orange robe, alongside that of his fluffy blue slippers. It also didn't take long for him to get over from his apartment room to that of his neighbor's door, and proceeded to knock at the door.

"Gert! Knock off the damn noise! Am trying to sleep!"

"Then go to fluffing sleep!"

" I can't because of you!"

"..."

"Knock!"

"Knock!"

The door suddenly slammed wide-open to reveal the image of a woman in her mid-thirties standing in front of him half-naked with unruly green hair that pointed in every direction in how unkempt it was. By the stains of her pink muscle shirt that loosely hanged off her shoulders it looked as though she was drinking again. It didn't help either that her breath stank as though a rat had taken a crap in her mouth.

"Can't you take a hint!"

"Can you go to sleep, and not make too much freaking noise!"

"Well, foxy if I didn't know better I bet you just it as an excuse for you to come over to little ol' me, and score some again"

"That time didn't count"

"Oh really, that's not how I remember it" Wiggling her green brows at him."You couldn't stop shaking from how good it was"

"I was shaking out of pure relief that it was over" Not wanting to go down memory lane in what occurred that day."I still shudder of what happened"

"Nah, you enjoyed it"

"You took advantage of me!"

"Now's who's making too much noise" Laying at her door frame looking at the blond getting angry."I'll have half-a-mind to take it up with the super to complain"

"Yeah, but I'll ask you to use the other half to remember that the super hates your guts and wants nothing more, than to throw you outta of the building"

"He doesn't hate me"

"Not to your face"

"Touche"

The two stood looking at each other in silence almost to the point, before Naruto sighed in tiresome how late it was, and the last thing he wanted to do right was stand in the middle of the hallway in his robe talking to an equally half-naked Gertrude.

"Did something bad happen to you yesterday?"

"Same old, same old" Looking at the floor briefly, before looking back at him."Same fluff, different day"

"Lost another job?"

"Wasn't much of a job to begin with"

"Is that the reason why you were making all that noise? I thought by now you wouldn't let the loss of a job get you down as before"

"Not when the bills start stacking up"

"Jeez, Gert" Rubbing his temples."Why didn't you just ask for some help?"

"Am not a charity case, whiskers" Getting a bit miffed at his question."I can take care myself"

"That I don't question, but at the very least it's not wrong to come over, and at least tell me so I can at least see if I can help you in some way"

"You know, sometimes I just can't seem to put my finger on what goes through that head of yours" Looking at him as if had grown a second head."One moment your chewing my head from making too much noise, and the next your trying to be some sort of saint in getting me to come to you for help. What's the catch?"

"Is called being a good person"

"Looks more like you trying to get inside my pants" Throwing him a wide smile that showed him all those mismatched almost broken teeth."Now why didn't you just come out and just say that?"

"I'll ask you to take a shower first with nothing, but disinfectant, followed by jugging down a gallon of mouthwash, before I'll ask you that" His face having that of a deadpan expression that showcased how he felt at such a question."Maybe a heavy shave to go with it"

"I rock it how I like it" Shrugging her shoulders at the comment, and going back into her apartment, and leaving the blond to himself staring at the open door.

He signed at her response, before entering her home, while closing the door behind him. The inside was a deep contrast to the outside and almost gagged at the smell that assaulted his senses, and seemed to only get stronger the deeper he got. Entering the living he noticed stacks of empty pizza bottles with that of crushed beer cans thrown all over the floor.

The only source of light coming from the room was from the small tv that Gert had on that was showing some random cartoon about a small princess doing magic. Just one of those generic cartoons that were dime a dozen.

Gert herself was just sprawled over the coach with feet up on the small table in front of her looking at the tv with a beer in hand. By the looks of her face it seemed more like she was watching it with contempt, than enjoyment. He'd seen her do that type of face to a lot of things, but this time around felt different. More sadder than he was accustomed. And that was saying something.

He also noticed the cracked wall near the couch that contained the familiar dent of a fist imprinted on it to know where she landed her blow. By how she was using the coolness of the beer can to hold it against the knuckles on the right hand.

Not bothering to question the obvious of the injury, or of the wall. Naruto just decided to walk into the kitchen, grabbed a clean cloth, and got some ice from the fridge to wrap it around it tightly.

He sat on the green coach beside her, and passed the cloth with ice to her, which Gert got without breaking away her gaze from the tv, and placed it on her hand. Both watched the tv in silence, and it was only after few more moments of watching tv did she finally say something.

" I really hate this world"

"Yeah, I guess I kinda hated too sometimes"

"At least you fit in. Unlike me who can't seem to make much sense on how people here can just be so used to being so normal. It's a living hell"

"It's not that bad." Not really agreeing on how she compared the place to being bad, especially giving their own respective backgrounds"Is because you don't make much of an effort to fit in"

"Like I flip I don't!" Crushing her empty beer can, and getting another another one to pop."The people here just fluffing suck by giving me a hard time"

"It's called being adaptive, Gert. Is something that most do if they want to fit in to new places, but it's a bit more complicated in our situation as it's more of a dilemma on how were not able to find a way back to our respective worlds, well more like my respective world as yours is here, but your more of an social outcast with no such working skills, bad character traits, poor hygiene, terrible personality, violent tendencies that borderline on homicidal, not to mention b-"

"I get it"

"What am trying to say is that your unfamiliarity on how the real world works, due to how you were practically gone from it since you were six is just what makes it difficult for you to be a real human being"

"You done?"

"Good, because one fluff you. Two fluffing fluff you, and three f-"

"Is it another fluff?"

"No, I think this time I'll go with a classic here…..FUCK YOU!" Throwing her can at him only to have it picked up by him with a quick hand, and downing the rest of it in quick succession, and throwing it behind him onto the trash can.

"Fluffing ninja skills" She muttered under breath as he went back to watching the cartoon.

"Was losing your job today really what got you so mad that you almost broke a hole through my wall?"

"If you know already, then why do you even have to ask me at all what's wrong?" Still looking at the tv with a sunken face. Her eyes were devoid of emotions as they continued to watch the show with black eyes.

"Because since the moment that I've met you that's been the only serious problem that you've let linger around. And it's the only one that gets you this much in the dumps for"

"..."

"..."

"Thanks for the ice"

"Don't mention it"

The two continued once more to watch the tiny screen as it rolled on with what seemed to be a marathon of kids programming with each one seeming to get more badly written, and badly a while he noticed that Gert had gotten quite and tuned to see that she was laying back already dead to the work as drool escaped from the side of her lower mouth. The ice that she was applying to her hurt hand was thrown onto the carpet floor.

Sighing at the display in front of him and seeing that it looked to be another one of those nights. He got off the coach and went into the hallway that led to her room and came back with two blankets. Turned off the tv and went back to the coach to drape one of the blankets over Gert's sleeping form and laid himself down next to the sofa chairs near the coach.

With that he went to sleep the moment he closed his eyes wanting to get the night over with and hoping Gert would be in a better mood in the morning. Though that was a bit too much to hope for.

(Gert's Apartment)

Gert awoke from her deep slumber by the sound of loud noises, but instead of feeling angry of something waking her up this early the tantalizing aroma of food hitting her nostrils made her wake up in a different mood instead. Groggily getting up, while rubbing the crust that formed overnight and spotted where the noise was coming from.

She quickly put two-two together on who it was, and went over to the kitchen. The scene itself consisted of her next-door neighbor cooking what seemed to be a delicious breakfast by the smell of it.

Didn't take long for her to find herself a seat at the table, and the blond to take in her presence at the kitchen.

"Took your sweet time waking up"

"With how much I drank last night, I'm lucky to even be sober enough to even be talking right now" Stretching her back against the chair as she made sure to do the same with her arms. Until hearing a satisfying pop of the joints."That feels nice"

"You know what feels nice? Having a clean kitchen to cook in"

"Looks pretty clean to me"

"Yeah, because I had to spruce it up just before I started to get the stove cooking. I mean come on, am surprised that you don't live knee-deep with roaches with how much trash litters your apartment"

"That's a sign that my place is not as dirty as you make it out to be"

"No, it's a sign in how you were able to get roaches to second guess nesting here with how bad you kept it"

"Hey, I see that as a good thing" Cracking open another beer can from the fridge."Is a sign of dominance"

"For cockroaches?"

"They're not here are they? So why complain"

"I doubt that's something to be proud of, but I guess having one less thing to worry about is better than nothing." Putting the final touches to the simple eggs, and bacon meal alongside that of freshly done buttered toast to go with both of their plates."At least it makes eating breakfast tolerable" Making sure to also carry over the stacks of pancakes that he made on the side.

No sooner did he sit down at the table with Gert that the plate he had cooked for her was already being demolished by said person at a ravenous pace. He had to avoid not getting pieces of food over him as went all over the place. Watching her shove a mouthful of food into her mouth made him think about how animals in the wild ate their mouth with deep hunger.

Unlike them, Gert seemed to be inhaling her food, and not even chewing it. It was the sight that made him lose his hunger for the morning, and opted to instead just keep to his fresh brew. It wouldn't be long for the food to be all gone as the moment the sound of chewing stopped was the moment of silence broken by the loud belching released by Gert did breakfast truly end.

The plates of food that once stood now laid empty with grumps littering the plate and its surroundings left as the only evidence that was once there. Gert on her part was patting her stomach in comfort of having treated herself to some food. More happy that she didn't have to pay for it.

"Satisfied?"

"You better believe it" Laying back on the chair with a comforting sign in having eating well."That hit the spot"

"That's good to hear. It really did look like that you enjoyed it."He stated as he took a sip from his cup."Now, with that being said am head back to my pad" Pouring the rest of the coffee down the sink together with that of the cup."I have a busy day ahead of me, and the sooner I leave the better"

"Just call in for the day, and maybe we can do something fun instead" Getting up as well and while still wearing her nightly attire. Which again didn't consist of much."Maybe go for a drink at Meg's?"

"Gert, it's 8 in the morning"

"And?" Looking at him as if he was the one that said something weird.

"It's too early to be drinking"

"Come on, don't be like that. I've seen you drink people under the table too many times that I can count"

"Which last time I check wasn't much"

"But you did it enough that you had a good time doing it"

"Look, I don't mind having a drink with you Gert, but right now I really need to get myself ready for work because it's what helps to get the bills paid. And don't forget either that you need to look for a job yourself, or we may not neighbors for too long"

"Now, why did you have to bring that up again? Now you've gone and killed the good mood I was in"

"Good, now you can focus on looking for a job without wanting to drink" Naruto replied back as he was making his way out from the apartment room."Later, Gert"

"Can you just think about it for just a moment?"

She said as she was able to catch him out in the hallway and he turned around to look at her with a raised brow at how insistent she was being.

"I just told you I'm gonna be busy?"

"Seriously, can we just meet up for at least one drink at Meg's. I don't want to be that sap at the bar drinking herself in a stupor and pass out by an alley again"

"Then, don't go to Meg's if you don't want that from happening again"

"Please!"

Mustering up the pleading look with the quivering lip and teary-eye expression. Though the problem was that it looked entirely wrong giving her crusted eyes, disheveled hair, and half-naked attire that made it fall flat.

He thought for a moment of saying outright no to her idea, but seeing that she wasn't gonna let this go and also that he didn't want her to get in even more trouble. He had no other choice, but to relent.

"Ugh, fine"

"You won't regret it"

"Am starting to regret it already"

"Good, now if you don't mind. Why don't we get share a quick o-

"No"

"What?Why!"

"Because you don't live here. That's , I am gonna start to get ready to head off to work. So, the last thing that I want to think about is having you be left alone in my apartment doing god's know what"

"Why? You think I'm going to steal something"

"No, what I am worried about is you getting too comfortable that you won't want to leave unless I force you too." And I don't trust you enough to leave by your own without being supervised"

"I'll l-"

Slam!

"Well, guest what? It's not like I wanted to stay in your crummy apartment anyway!" She yelled back, before scratching the side of her head and thinking of what to do for the day."I guess it's back to the drawing board. I wonder if I still have the clippings for those job applications laying around?"

Gert would continue to ponder at the type of job that she could find for herself as she headed back to her apartment with the goal in minded of finding one as soon as possible, due to the fact that rent was just around the corner and her landlord was the last thing that she wanted to deal with.

It was bad enough that she had to look for another job, and dealing with that short hunchback was the last thing that she wanted to deal with.

It was moments like these that made her want to go back to fairyland.

Hours later (Night Time)

He walked up to the entrance of the bar and walked in smelling the familiar scent of the bar that he would at times frequent during his off-hours, or when he would want a stiff drink after a long day's work.

The type of day like the one that he had already got done with. It made the notion of having a cold one that enticing as it helped to loosen his nerves a bit and forget about the hassle he had to deal with when it came to the clients.

Being constantly on the go to deliver "special" packages to people all over the city took a toll of him at times, when knowing that some of the job's that he went on were for some of the least flattering of people. Though like most, he couldn't complain as much as the pay was very good, and the delivery themselves were coming in at a constant rate.

And given his background in dealing with all sorts of dangers it made it easy to stomach some of the more inherent dangers that came with the occupation. It sometimes paid off being a trained soldier from a different world living in a realm that didn't have a lick of anything too dangerous that could be thrown his way.

Unless that danger happened to belong to Gert, which though seldom were times that had everyone near her steer clear with good reasons. But nowadays she just seemed to be in a deeper rut of self-loathing than usual. A feeling that brought a lot more drinking outta of her, than before.

He would have to talk with her about it, before it really got outta of hand.

Walking inside the joint he could instantly make the green turf of hair that belonged to no one else, other than Gert who was slouching by the bar with an array of newspapers littering around her. Shaking off some of the drops of rain that had fallen on him as the moment he walked it began to pick up steam and soon evolved to a torrent of rain with the occasional flashes of thunder.

"Hiya, Naruto"

"Hi, Meg"

"The usual"

"Sure, and can you cut her off. I think she's done for the night"

"Way ahead of yeah"

"Thanks"

He took the seat open next to Gert, while also making sure to push away some of the empty bottles of beer that had already started to pile up around her and some of the papers that were all over her. The moment that he did was when Gert took notice of him.

"Didn't think you were gonna show up" She mumbled out as her hair blocked much of her face with her eye being the only thing that he could make out looking at him lazily.

"Almost didn't"

"What changed"

"Slow day"

"Well, at least I wasn't the only one that had a bad day today" Raising her head off counter and looking at him with her usual crooked smile and by what he was smelling was a bit of beer as well."Trouble at work"

"Nothing that I couldn't handle." Taking the beer that Meg had given him and thanking her for it."What about you? What's eating you up?"

"Nothing much, just the usual muffing fluffing people giving me the same old gripe that makes me want to ring their necks off their bodies"

"So pretty much the same"

"Pretty much, oh, and I also got fired today"

"How do you get fired on your first day on the job?"

"Pffft! As if you call working at the Dragon Dogs a real job. I mean do you see the type of people that go there. A bunch of braindead-mouth-breathing-dips that need to be wiped off the face of the earth"

"What do you expect? Is a fast-food joint it caters to everyone looking for a quick and cheap meal"

"God, just thinking about that place, and the people, and the freaking uniform with the stupid hat"

"I like the hat" Said Meg in passing as she began to serve some of the other patrons in the bar.

"That's not the point. Is how it makes you look like an idiot. It's a hate crime being forced to wear it"

"That's not a hate crime"

"Well, I hated it,...a lot, okay" Slamming her head back to the counter that almost made the blond's drink spill if he weren't holding it."If I knew that this would be my life after so many years trying hard to get back home I would have had my head cleared out for thinking here would be better, than back there"

"How hard is that to believe? Your comparing a world that is straight out of a magical wonderland filled with endless opportunities to live it up to a world that is devoid of magic, and chalked full of mundane nuisance" Before taking a swing of his drink."It's pretty much to be expected"

"With how you described your homeworld it sorta seems straight out of an fanboy's fantasy"

"I'll say is more grounded than anything you've told me about yours" Chuckling a bit about the comparisons between both their respective places."Besides, at least mine was easy to understand. Yours just sounds like nothing made sense to it"

"That was the charm of the place. Nothing had to make sense for you to enjoy it" Remembering all the goods times she had being able to do anything she wanted."More fun, than what you told me about yours, ninja boy"

"Shinobi, not ninja"

"Same thing"

"There's a diff-..Am not even gonna bother with this again" Not even attempting to have this conversation again."There's a difference, alright. And i'm just going to leave it at that"

"Sure, you are. Because you know I'm right" Giving him a loop-sided grin."Man, is always fun to watch you get all riled up over the little things"

"Not when they mean something to you"

"Yeah, but when you get red in the face, and your whiskers do this thing where they seem to almost shoot out. Is almost kinda cute. Like a big oversize fox"

"Whatever" Going back to his drink and not giving Gert the satisfaction again in seeing the blush on his face that that slowly seeped in. Though it grew a bit more with the sound of Gert laughing at his expense.

The moment itself helped the two of them feel a bit better over the day both of them had as talking about better times made their current predicaments less of a hassle to deal with. It for sure also served to help make the drinks enjoyable to have.

"..."

"..."

"Still sucks to be here though"

"Still sucks to be here though"

"Man, not only are you two the weirdest pair of patrons that come here, but you also have a bit of habit of saying the same things when agreeing with each other" Meg stated as she back to clear some of the rest of the bottles that Gert and Naruto finished."You sure you two are not together?"

"No"

"Maybe"

"Right...So you guys want anything else" Taking the cloth she used to clean spills on the counter to wipe some stains at the end of the bar counter.

"Now that you mention it. I will have a-"

"Just ignore her Meg. She's already had enough for tonight"

"Come on! Am barely getting my buzz right now. Besides, the night is still too young to stop drinking" She told him as she got a bit animated at the thought of not drinking."Besides, this stuff doesn't begin to get you buzz unlike the hard stuff back in Fairyland. Now that stuff could put anyone here through the wall"

"Yeah, but even if that's true. You already had enough, and I know for a fact that you've already blown all you cash for today"

"Just a little.."

"Meg, what's her current bar tab?"

"You really wanna know?"

"Case-in-point"

"God, this is another reason why this place sucks. Not only can't I not have a drink when I want one, but now I am cut off because someone else says so. You know this type of treatment wouldn't have stand back in Fairy-"

"Oh God. Can we go one night without having to hear this whole fairyland stuff again?" A heavy-set woman at the end of the counter added."It was fun to hear about it the first couple of times, but it's gotten real old, after the hundred, or so afterwards"

"Barb, listen. And listen real closely. Whenever I mention things that are clearly personal about my own life. It's mostly something that is directly aimed towards me, and to those I share it to. Alright" Gert pointed out as she pointed her finger at Barb."There not meant to mean anything for people that are not even telling them to. So, fluff-off from the conversation, and go back to being a sad sack drinking by herself like usual"

"I can't even do that when you're here yammering all the goddamn time about some made-up place that even a six-year old would be sick of. And I know everyone here plays along with your pathetic little stories because think of you as some special case. But I speak for not just myself, but for everyone else, just shut your mouth for once"

"You know what Barb. You're lucky this isn't Fairyland. Because everyone there knew if they talked to me like that" Getting up from her stool and grabbing the half empty bottle she was still nursing.

"You gonna stop this?"

"Nah, Gert knows what she's doing" Finishing up the last of the contents from his own drink and leaving some bills to cover the their drinks and some extra for the damage that was bound to break out."Here's some for the damages"

"What damage?"

Crash!

"I'd bust their grape wide fluffing open!"

"The ones that are about to happen"

The next few moments happened to turned into a complete beatdown as Gert was put to through the ringer thanks in part of Barb who happened to made of some sturdy composition as not only was she unaffected of having a bottle smashed over her head, but knew how to put down some serious damage on Gert.

Punch to the face first.

Uppercut to the chin next.

Followed by a boot to the face.

Bottle to the back to the head.

Poke in the eye.

It would have led to some more hurting if Naruto hadn't stepped in to prevent Barb from using one of the stools to slam Gert into. He managed to get Barb to calm down and even manage to sweeten the deal a bit by throwing a couple of free drinks on him.

Afterwards he looked down at the prone form of Gert's bloody body and messed up face and sighed at the trouble caused.

"Already, I think it's time for you to get home" He said to her as he picked her up by the shoulder.

"I…still…want…to..drink…"

"Nope. Your cut off for tonight. Besides I think your eye is hanging off from it's socket again"

Her response to that was to just push it back in with her right hand. Some of the patrons who saw came to unload their stomachs onto the ground from such a gross display. But, it was at least better to have it inside, then let it hang out.

"Later, Meg"

"Are you sure you want to leave? It's a bit hectic outside right now"

"Nah, it's no biggie." He waved at her concerns."Besides it'll do her some good to have some cold water to get her thinking straight, and also from keep her from losing consciousness"

"Oh okay, I guess. Later"

Waving once more back at the barkeep. He wasted no effort in taking Gert outside where a torrent of rain and thunder cracked across the night sky. Though the rain was the least of their worries as the vehicle seemed to come to life the moment they left the bar.

And followed the two of them discreetly the further they walked away into the raining night.

The walk was a bit of a drag in his opinion as having to steady a beaten-up Gert, and trying to power through the weather was giving him second doubts on leaving the bar. But shaken off the idea of going back as he was already a bit too far to reconsider going back.

But that quickly changed as he spotted an empty bus bend with a roof over it that he opted to use for the meantime until the rain cleared itself out. Taking no time to waste he quickly trudges alongside Gert who herself seemed to come back from the beating that she received and gained some awareness of her surroundings, but it was still not enough for her to wake up completely.

It didn't go unnoticed by the blond as he saw the vehicle parked in the same location as when he arrived at the bar. He only narrowed his eyes as the vehicle in question came to a sudden stop near them.

"The hell could this be?"

He didn't have to wait long for whoever was inside the car to make themselves known as a hulking figure of a man came out first, and was very apparent of his tall figure as the movements required for him to get out made the entire car shake and heave a bit. In terms of appearance alone. The individual seemed to be someone's bodyguard, but that made him think as to who he would be protecting as he was the only one that got out of the car. His umbrella kinda obscured much of his upper body as it came out to shield him from the elements.

It didn't take long for him to stand in front of him and Gert as he looked down at them with a neutral expression that contrasted with that of the blonds own skeptical one.

"Can I help you"

"We're here for the one named Gertrude. Not you"

"Sorry, to break to yeah, but right now she's a bit indisposed right now. So, if you want to talk to her I suggest coming back another time" He replied back all while making sure to keep a close eye on the man."Maybe, when the weather is a bit better"

"Then I guess it would be good for her to come with us to someplace warm and dry"

"Us?"

"I think he would be referring to me as well"

The voice took him by surprise as he looked to where Gert was placed and found a small critter standing by her with a smile to his small rodent face.

A rat.

Correction. A rat wearing a short red cape with a gold button holding it together capped together with what seemed to be a very large eye that seemed to want to bulge out of its socket.

A talking cape-wearing rat who was talking to him.

Maybe this word did have something going for it after all. Go figure.

"Greetings"

"Hello…." Still not sure what to make of the situation of a rodent talking to him right now."Who the hell are you?"

"Who I am is not important. The person mumbling to herself next to you is" The rodent said as he jumped onto the shoulder of the bald-headed figure."So, if you could just step-aside and let us take her with us that would be very well appreciated"

"Yeah, still a hard pass."

"Now, please don't consider our presence to be that of an unwelcoming one as were here only to bring the one named Gert back to our employer for a simple inquiry"

"Inquiry into what?"

"Personal business" The small animal added as he adjusted him perched on top of the big lugs shoulder from getting wet."The type that doesn't concern you"

"Look pal, do yourself a favor and get lost. You don't play into this so don't go on butting into things that don't concern you" Getting a bit too close to the blond's personal space."So, scram if you what's good for yeah"

"So, neither of you two will budge until you take Gert with you"

"Exactly"

"Well, I guess that's too bad for the two of you then" Now standing up from the bench. Though he didn't measure up to the tall brute he was still no slouch as his 6'1 frame still had him be as imposing as he could be."Maybe, I could use the time to elevate some stress after such a long day of work"

"Why, you think you can do something that gets us to chance our minds"

"Not think, but can"

"I'll like to see you try"

Crash!

The wind was soon knocked out of him the moment he finished talking as a blow to his midsection too quick to see made him topple backwards to hit the wall from the building behind him.

The talking rat was quick enough to land on his feet and avoid having the umbrella fall on him as the shoulder he was perched on top of was no longer there to support him. He looked back to see the man knocked out as a bit of the concrete wall chip away from the impact fell on him.

He heard the noise of feet shuffling behind him that compelled to look up at the blond looking down at him with his fingers laced around each as he cracked them with a loud audible crunch.

"Still not willing to tell me you hired you?"

"...No"

"Good"

The groan of the man that was supposed to be the muscle was all that was heard through the torrent of rain pouring down on all of them.

"Tell, who your boss is?"

End of Chapter 1

Another story done, another one in the bag.

This was done on the spur of the moment since I started to think about the series that I liked reading from Scottie Young of I Hate Fairyland, and really started to think about it even more since the series was brought back with an adult version of Gert.

It's a fun read of a comic and I would highly recommend reading the series as much of what I am going to reference with this fic takes place after the original run ended, and will mostly be based on the current one running.

I don't have much else to say at the moment, other than being happy about getting this chapter done, and will be hard at work in getting some of the other chapters from other fics finished and posted as soon as I can.

Want to at least meet the dateline in getting some new chapters, and fic posted before the end of the year.

So, for now. Have a happy Christmas, and happy New Year. And hope everyone has a good read, and stay safe out there.

Later.
