Ghost-Spider
Note: This story takes place after Mighty Avengers and picks up right where the Avenging Spider-Man finished. Gwen Stacy will be taking the deuteragonist role while Mary Jane is switched to the tritagonist role.
"My name is Peter Parker and I am the Avenging Spider-Man and this is my story." Peter narrates.
"Your story? Don't you mean our story." Gwen narrates.
"Gwen?! How did you get into narrating this story?" Peter narrates.
"Because it's my story too. It kinda fun to narrate yourself, I see why you do it." Gwen narrates.
"Okay... uh... lost track here. Okay, let's start over. My name is Peter Parker and this is Gwen Stacy, the friendly Ghost-Spider, and as she said this is our story." Peter narrates.
The news is playing on TV. The day is August 10th, an important day for Peter.
"Couple months ago the world was under attack by a race of extraterrestrials who wanted to conquer Eatth. But thanks to the brave efforts of a team of heroes who calls themselves the Avengers, including our very own local hero Spider-Man, they managed to stop the Skrulls and save the Earth. Now the mayor of New York wants to honor this hero the key to the city, the ceremony is happening at Central Park tomorrow, be sure to get there early as it's going to be pack."
"Unbelievable! Unbelievable! This city wants to honor that menace the key of the city. I'm I the only who realize the menace he really is. Next thing you know they're have a balloon of him floating in the thanksgiving parade." Jameson said.
"I'd pay to see that!" Peter said.
"Anyway, tomorrow I need you there at the ceremony taking shots." Jameson said.
"Yeah... about that. I'm going to sit this one out." Peter said.
"What? Why?" Jameson said.
"I got... something personal to do. It's my day off." Peter lied.
"Fine, I'll get someone else. Bring me Leeds!" Jameson said.
A new photographer entered, his name is Ned Leeds.
"Parker, you know the new photographer Ned Leeds." Jameson said.
"Yeah, we met." Peter said.
"You need something Jameson?" Ned Leeds said.
"Tomorrow you're going to be taking photo of the ceremony." Jameson said.
"Me? What about Parker? He always takes shots of Spider-Man." Ned Leeds said.
"Well he turned it down, my other photographer Eddie Brock is in a looney bin for some reason. You're all I got." Jameson said.
"You can count on me Jameson." Ned Leeds said.
Jameson turns his attention towards Peter. "You! What are you waiting for? A raise? Go! Go! Go!"
Peter left the office.
"That went smooth, no way I could be Peter Parker in the crowd taking photos and Spider-Man in the stands." Peter said in his thoughts.
"Peter!" Betty said.
Peter turns around and see Betty Brant, she returned from her leave.
"Betty?!" Peter smiled.
Betty walked up and hugged Peter.
"Betty Brant, I can't believe that it's you." Peter smiled.
"Believe it." Betty smiled.
They broke off the hug as they are happy to see each other.
"I heard that you're coming back, didn't think that it was so soon!" Peter smiled.
"Wanted to surprise you." Betty said.
"How... how are hold up? You know, the kidnapping and Venom?" Peter said.
"Oh... uh... I'm getting better with time, that fear and pain eventually started to fade away slowly. I need to move forward, and this is how." Betty said.
"Well I'm here if you need me... as a friend of course." Peter said.
"Of course... by the way... Happy Birthday." Betty said.
Betty gave Peter a kiss on the cheek.
"Thanks." Peter smiled.
"I should... you know..." Betty said.
"Yeah... me too." Peter said.
Peter and Betty parted ways as to avoid any awkwardness given their relationship and what they had.
At Avengers Tower, the headquarters of Earth's Mightiest Heroes, Peter uses it as a base of operations for his activities.
He and Gwen Stacy are in the gym, she wears workout clothes as did Peter. Peter spent the past five months training Gwen in using her powers. He taught her the styles of Boxing, Taekwondo, Muay Thai, Capoeira, Krav Maga, Yaw Yan, Vovinam, Wing Chun, Judo, Ninjutsu, and Pencak Silat. Gwen is currently 17 years old and soon to be a senior at Midtown High.
"You ready?" Peter said.
"I'm ready!" Gwen said.
"Come on, show me what you've got." Peter said.
Gwen came charging in as Peter dropped down and sweeps his leg, she tripped and fell down.
"Don't alway charge in! Get up and try again!" Peter said.
Gwen got up and has her fist ready. Peter could tell that's she's about to punch. She punch until he caught her wrist and tossed her down.
"You're telegraphing! Don't, you're only giving your opponents an advantage. Let's try again." Peter said.
Gwen got up and ready herself. She does a roundhouse kick, Peter avoid the kick only to be surprised by another kick, she does a Feilong roundhouse kick. Peter fell down as Gwen bested him.
"Not bad." Peter smiled.
Gwen helped Peter up on his feet.
"Seriously Peter, I've been training for months, you still haven't let me go out doing what you do, be a hero." Gwen said.
"You have training but you lack experience, which is different." Peter said.
"You turned me into a better fighter, I bet that I can take on Captain America." Gwen said.
"No offense, but Cap will just best you easily, trust me on that one." Peter said.
"You know what I think. I think that you're just distracting me, I think that you don't want me to be a hero." Gwen said.
"This isn't all fun and games, there's a price for such a life, it can take a toll on you, on your soul. I don't want that for you." Peter said.
"I think that after what happened months ago, the world needs more heroes than ever. Sometimes life can make you take a different one, whether you like or not. I think that what happened to me by that spider wasn't an accident, I think that I was chosen. I think that this is my purpose." Gwen said.
"I don't doubt that you'd make a great hero, you're a great person Gwen. I'm just trying to protect you, once you go down this path, there's no turning back." Peter said.
"I already chose this path the moment I've chose to save Sally from the Lizardman that tried to kill her. Why can't you understand that?" Gwen said.
Peter said nothing.
"I should get going, my dad is expecting me to be home soon." Gwen said.
Gwen left as Peter is in the gym alone, he understands that Gwen chose to save her friend despite being inexperienced at the time. He was like that the first time he became Spider-Man. Since the day he put on that costume his life never became the same. He knows too well the toll this life can take on one's soul. He doesn't want Gwen to suffer that same fate, he thinks that he could keep her distracted hoping to spare her from such a life.
Gwen returned home and see her dad cooking.
"Hey Gwennie, pasta is almost ready and the sauce is looking good too." George Stacy said.
Gwen smell the air. "Smells good, I am starving."
"You wearing gym clothes, did you just workout or something?" George Stacy said.
"Something like that." Gwen said.
"Alright, sit down. Dinner should be ready soon." George Stacy said.
"Dad, can I ask you something?" Gwen said.
"Sure, what is it?" George Stacy said.
"Why did you become a cop?" Gwen said.
"What kind of question is that?" George Stacy said.
"Just curious." Gwen said.
"Okay... I was just a kid when my cousin got shot, he was like an older brother to me." George Stacy said.
"I'm sorry." Gwen said.
"He's the reason I became a cop, I wanted to protect people from those who caused harm to others. It wasn't easy, but it was worth it. This life also led me to meeting your mother, my Helen." George Stacy said.
"Mom?" Gwen said.
"She was the daughter of my old Captain, your grandfather, I met her through him, we went out dating, years later we got married, and in time we had you, our miracle, our Gwen." George Stacy said.
"I miss her." Gwen said.
"I do too... every day. When I look at you, I see that she lives on through you, you're so much like her, beautiful, smart, compassionate, and kind." George Stacy said.
"I'm also like you too, I have your stubbornness, courage, and determination. I am the daughter of a cop after all." Gwen said.
"I'm proud of the woman you are, I know that your mother is too." George Stacy said.
Gwen smiled.
"So... shall we?" George Stacy said.
He and Gwen have dinner.
Peter made it back to the apartment that his girlfriend Mary Jane rented. He opens the door and he see May, Mary Jane, Betty Brant, and Harry Osborn waiting.
"Happy Birthday Peter!"
"What's the occasion?" Peter said.
"Why? It's your birthday, can't believe that you've turned nineteen." May said.
"Thank you Aunt May for the surprise." Peter said.
"I had in this Tiger, remember that." Mary Jane said.
"Of course, it's you." Peter smiled.
Peter and Mary Jane kissed. They broke off as Peter turns his attention towards Betty.
"Betty, thank you for coming." Peter hugged Betty.
"That what friends are for." Betty smiled.
Betty and Peter broke off the hug as he turned to Harry.
"Hey buddy!" Peter said.
"Happy birthday brother." Harry said.
"Where's Lily? Thought she be here?" Peter said.
"Yeah... we've... well... didn't work out." Harry said.
"You two broke up?" Peter said.
"Don't worry about it, plenty of fish in the sea. Though you shouldn't have to worry, since you're lucky to have a gorgeous girlfriend like Mary Jane." Harry said.
"Don't I know it." Peter smiled.
"If you think this is the surprise, then just you wait until you see what I've got for you tonight." Mary Jane said.
"Hello!!" Harry yelled.
Peter, Harry, and Betty laughed at the joke. May is coming in with a cake.
"Make a wish Tiger." Mary Jane said.
"I already have everything I wanted, my aunt who's been like a mother. Two best friends, and the girl of my dreams." Peter smiled.
Peter closed his eyes and blow out the candles. Everyone clapped as they celebrate his birthday. Peter is now 19 years old.
Later as the party has finished and Harry, May, and Betty left home.
"I'll be back Tiger, just need to slip into something... kinky." Mary Jane said.
Peter smiled as he watched Mary Jane go into the other room.
Peter opened up his laptop as he reached the Army camp in Symkaria. His call went through and he sees Flash Thompson, dressed in a standard army green t shirt. His hair has been cut to be a buzz cut.
"Hey, I was wondering if you were gonna call me!" Flash smiled.
"Hey Flash! How are things over there in Symkaria?" Peter said.
"It's been five months since I got deployed here and things are still the same." Flash said.
"Yeah well, wars aren't won overnight." Peter said.
"That seemed easy for Spider-Man and his amazing friends, the Avengers. I was here in another country while another war happened in New York." Flash said.
"Yeah... that was a dark time." Peter remembered that day.
"Yeah... but it didn't last. Those heroes gave everyone hope during the darkest times, made us believe that there still is a tomorrow worth living for." Flash said.
"What if it's not enough." Peter said.
"Peter... the world needs more heroes more than ever. Spider-Man is great but even he can't fight every battle alone. That's why I'm here, even though he still in New York fighting street crimes, I'm here doing my part in helping free a country from tyranny." Flash said.
"I admire you Flash, back then you were the biggest jerk in high school, now you've changed into a better man who risked his life fighting for others." Peter said.
"Well... you can thank Spider-Man for that. He inspired a lot of people, he inspired me." Flash said.
"Still his number one fan." Peter said
"You better believe it... listen I gotta sign off. A guy is waiting to chat with his gal and his baby." Flash said.
"I understand... take care Flash." Peter said.
"You too." Flash said.
Peter closes the computer as he is finished talking with Flash.
"Peter... Come in..." Mary Jane said.
"Coming!" Peter said.
Peter arrived at the living room and see candles and Mary Jane in a robe.
"What's... what's with the candles?" Peter smiled.
"I told you... I was going to give you a gift." Mary Jane said.
Mary Jane opened up her robe and he see her dressed in red lingerie, she looked... erotic.
"Wow." Peter said.
"Happy Birthday Tiger!" Mary Jane smiled.
Mary Jane walked up to Peter and they kissed each other. Mary Jane got her hands on his shirt and pulled it off. Peter pulled down the lingerie straps on her shoulders, he kissed her neck as she smiled.
They both finished disrobing their clothes. They both proceeded to have intercourse. Peter is kissing Mary Jane who is on top of him. His hand felt her soft skin. He flips them both, he's on top as he kisses her neck down to her collarbone. Peter and Mary Jane are having one of the best nights of their lives.
Spider-Man and Captain America both fought against Queen Veranke. Spider-Man see her about to kill Captain America.
"Cap!" Spider-Man said.
"Watch your friend die!" Veranke smiled.
Spider-Man got up and took Cap's shield. He tossed it hard at her.
He hit his target and saved Captain America, but the force of the impact knocked her off the window. She kept falling down from Stark Tower at such a far height. She fell down and crashed a taxi cab, she'd died.
Peter woke up from a nightmare he had, it was from the Skrull invasion. He looked and see that it's midnight. He see Mary Jane sleeping beside him, both of them slept naked. He kissed her forehead as he slowly got up and put on his pants.
He hasn't had a good night sleep since the invasion happened, someone died because of him, even though he saved a life, he unintentionally took another's. Captain America told him to make a compromise on his morals that could save lives, it hasn't been easy for Peter.
He went to the closet and pulled out the advanced suit that Stark made for him, his shoulders has the emblem of the Avengers.
He would go the window and looked back at a Mary Jane, she's so innocent, he wonders sometimes if he's ever good for her, does he ever deserve her. He swings away as Mary Jane opened her eyes and see that Peter left in the middle of the night again. She got so worried for him.
Spider-Man swing through New York at night as he thinks about the nightmare he has.
"Don't let it get to you, Spidey. The Skrulls are gone and the city is safe. What could go wrong?" Spider-Man said in his thoughts.
At Ryker's Prison, a van approaches the gate as the guard came in to check the driver's credentials.
"ID's please!"
The van is carrying three men. The guard checks the database to see if they're legit. The IDs checked out, they're cleared.
"Alright, proceed!"
The van enters the prison. The men in the back has guns ready. An AR-15 assault rifle, a M249 SAW light machine gun, and FN P90 sub machine gun. The three men straps on bulletproof vests.
"Alright let's get to the control room and cause a riot!" Montana said.
"Got it!" Fancy Dan said.
"Oh yeah!" Ox said.
"Let's go!" Montana said.
Montana came guns blazing, shooting his assault rifle at the guards. Ox came and see some reinforcements coming in, he fires off his SAW, tearing down the reinforcements. Fancy Dan managed to slip inside during the gunfire. He went down the hall and sees guards with shotguns. He shoots them down with his sub machine gun. He sees a couple of guards coming in close. He uses his skills in martial arts to get the best of them. Montana and Ox came coming in.
"What kept you two so long?" Fancy Dan said.
"Let's go." Montana said.
They reached the control room and shot off the guards. Fancy Dan searched one of them and found the access key.
"Here you go Montana!" Fancy Dan said.
Montana uses the key to access the control to the cell doors. He opens up every cell in the prison. He speaks through the speakers.
"Alright boys, time to get wild!" Montana speaks.
The guards inside the cell blocks see the cells opening up, the inmates got out and started attacking the guard as they got caught off guard.
"Now that the prison is distracted, time to reach the Vault." Montana said.
One of the injured prison guards managed to trigger the alarm and alerted the police. Ox see the guard that triggered the alarm and shot him dead.
Spider-Man is watching the city as his phone got an intercepted broadcast on the police frequency.
"All units! All units! Be advised, there's a prison riot happening at Ryker's! Proceed with caution!"
"Will do! Spider-Cop reporting for duty!" Spider-Man jokes.
Spider-Man heads for Ryker's island.
The Enforcers reached the Vault and already taken care of the guards.
"Here it is... the Vault. Where they lock up the most dangerous criminals. Time they get out for some fresh air!" Montana said.
Fancy Dan opened up the cell door.
"Flint Marko!" Fancy Dan said.
He free the Sandman, he proceeded to the next cell and opens it.
"Lonnie Lincoln!" Fancy Dan said.
The Tombstone has been freed.
Montana opened a cell.
"Herman Schultz!" Montana said.
Ox opens a cell, Fancy Dan opens another.
"Aleksei Sytsevich!" Ox said.
"Adrian Toomes!" Fancy Dan said.
Ox opens the next cell.
"Mac Gargan!" Ox said.
"Last but not least!" Montana said.
Montana opens the last cell.
"Doctor Otto Octavius! You're out on good behavior!" Montana said.
"Anyone want to tell us what this is about?" Adrian Toomes said.
"We're just mercenaries hired to do a job, our employer will give you all the details, there's a couple of choppers coming in to extract you all." Montana said.
"Forget it, Tombstone don't work for anyone. I'll find my own way out." Tombstone said.
"So be it... we only got a short window before Spider-Man and the NYPD get here. Let's get going!" Montana said.
The Enforcers and six other criminals make way for their escape, Tombstone decided to find his own way.
Outside the prison gate, the NYPD has the entrance guarded as to keep any prisoners from escaping. Spider-Man came by and see Captain Stacy and Lieutenant Watanabe.
"Captain! Lieutenant!" Spider-Man said.
"You're just in time Spider-Man, there's a riot going on inside. The guards said that some guys started shooting and freed the prisoners. SWAT is about to go in but we feel better you can clear the way." George Stacy said.
"No problem." Spider-Man said.
Spider-Man went inside as Captain Stacy and Lieutenant Watanabe follow with SWAT.
"Alright men, let's back him up!" George Stacy said.
Inside the prison, the inmates managed to reach the armory and some of them got guns. They started shooting the guards.
Spider-Man swings inside and webs up the guns off their hands. He dropped down and fights them off. The ones he defeated he'd webs them up.
He proceeded until he see Tombstone with some inmates beating up the guards.
"That's very low of you Tombstone, beating up defenseless guards is beneath you." Spider-Man said.
"Spider-Man! I'm glad that you're here. I finally get to pay you back for the misery you've caused me!" Tombstone said.
"Misery?... you didn't get the cookies I sent you or I forgot, my bad." Spider-Man jokes.
"You got quite a mouth on you, after I'm done, you won't using it ever again." Tombstone said.
Spider-Man and Tombstone fight off.
Meanwhile, the enforcers and six super villains made it to the courtyard.
"This is perfect, while Tombstone keeps Spider-Man busy, we'll be gone before they know it. Here they come!" Montana said.
A couple of choppers came landing in the courtyard.
"Everyone on board!" Montana said.
The Enforcers and super villains boarded the choppers as it takes off, they've managed to escape prison.
Spider-Man and Tombstone kept on fighting as Spidey is faster than Tombstone.
"You almost got me." Spider-Man said.
Tombstone punched again but missed.
"Too slow!" Spider-Man said.
"Stay still, bug boy!" Tombstone said.
"Uh... no!" Spider-Man said.
Spider-Man jumps and does a spin kick, Tombstone dodged the first kick but Spider-Man still in the air does a surprise kick and hits him in the head, knocking him out cold. He did the Guyver kick and took out Tombstone.
"Like that move, it's my favorite." Spider-Man said.
Captain Stacy and Lieutenant Watanabe arrived with SWAT. The inmates see that they're outnumbered.
"Anyone else want to fight?" Spider-Man said.
The inmates realize that with Tombstone down, they'll have no chance against Spider-Man and the NYPD. They dropped their weapons down.
"Everyone back to your cells now!" George Stacy said.
The inmates complied and returned to the cell.
"Well looks like our job is done." Spider-Man said.
"Not quite, we've got bigger problems." Yuri Watanabe said.
Later they arrived mobile headquarters outside the prison. They see footages of the Vault.
"According to the warden, theses three men came in and caused a riot, their real purpose is to get to the vault and free these seven inmates, Tombstone is locked up again, but these six are still on the loose" Yuri Watanabe said.
They see mugshots of Shocker, Doctor Octopus, Sandman, Scorpion, Vulture, and Rhino.
"I recognized five of them, except for the Rhino." Spider-Man said.
"He was sent here by S.H.I.E.L.D. two months ago."'Yuri Watanabe said.
"This is a lot trouble to go through just to free these six. They managed to produce fake ID's and know exactly how to override the cells, they had intel on everything. Theses guys are working for someone, someone who had the means and resources to pull it off." Spider-Man said.
"Yeah, but who?" George Stacy said.
"I may have idea." Spider-Man said.
Later as the choppers landed near the docks, the Enforcers led the six villains inside the warehouse.
"Thank you for the early release, but out of curiosity, who goes through all that trouble for us?" Otto said.
They see a man in a suit, it's James Wesley.
"Who the hell are you?" Herman said.
"Merely an employee, my employer would like to speak with you." James Wesley said.
He pulled out his phone, he called his boss and puts it on speaker, he placed it on the table.
"Gentlemen, welcome. I trust that you're happy with your new freedom." Kingpin said.
"May we ask who is man on the line pulling the string?" Otto said.
"I'm sure you've heard of me, the Kingpin." Kingpin said.
"The Kingpin of Crime, you did this? But why?" Sandman said.
"Because I have a proposal for each of you. I gave you your freedom in exchange for one thing... Spider-Man." Kingpin said.
"Spider-Man, I remember him, he foiled my plans of revenge against the man who wronged me. I'm listening, go on!" Otto said.
"What I propose that each of you can work together to become a team that is powerful enough to beat Spider-Man. Together... you will succeed and get your vengeance." Kingpin said.
"Sounds interesting... I'm in!" Otto smiled.
"I'm in." Sandman said.
"Me too." Herman said.
"I'll join." Adrian said.
"A chance to me to get that bug, count me in." Mac Gargan said.
"I never faced that bug, but he is friends with the Hulk, and any friend of the Hulk is an enemy of mine. I'm in." Rhino said.
"We all agree, though we're gonna need some major ordinance of ours." Otto said.
"We can provide you with everything you'll need." Kingpin said.
The Enforcers showed them four crates, they opened them up and show them their stuff. Doctor Octopus's mechanical limbs, Scorpion's tail and armor, Vulture's suit and wings, and lastly Shocker's suit and gauntlets.
Doctor Octopus got his limbs attached to his harness.
"This is more like it!" Doctor Octopus smiled.
"I've got my wings back!" Vulture said.
Scorpion got his armor on, Shocker puts on his suit and his gauntlets.
"Oh yeah! I miss these!" Shocker said.
Shocker fires off his gauntlets and destroyed a car.
"Dang!... I gotta get me one of those!" Montana said.
"This day is suppose to be Spider-Man's great day, let's make it his last." Kingpin said.
Spider-Man returned back home as morning came. He entered the apartment quietly as not to wake Mary Jane. He strips off his costume.
"Back from your midnight shift?" Mary Jane said.
Peter see Mary Jane has already waken up early.
"Yeah. A big one... there was a prison riot and six super villains escaped." Peter said.
"What? How is that possible?" Mary Jane said.
"Apparently someone is helping them, whatever this is I have a feeling this isn't over. Think I should cancel the ceremony." Peter said.
"What? No... no, you're about to be honor in front of the whole city for your dedication and heroism. You can't just skip it." Mary Jane said.
"MJ, these criminals are highly dangerous and on the loose. I have to focus on stopping them before anyone gets hurt." Peter said.
"Peter!... what is going on with you? Lately you've been going out at night, you barely sleep. When you do you get nightmares. This has been happening ever since the invasion." Mary Jane said.
Peter couldn't exactly tell her what happened that day, he was afraid that she would see him differently.
"I'm just worry for you.. Whatever it is, I'm here for you no matter what." Mary Jane said.
Peter took a deep breath. "This world has changed forever, that day aliens came in and I had to give it everything I've got to survive and succeed in winning. I think about a lot of people who died that day, I have to be out there make sure that never happens again, I can't fail."
"Peter... even with all those powers, you're still human. You still feel something, it's okay if you're feeling guilty that you couldn't save everyone. This world is never in short supply of misery and suffering. But even you have a right to have a life, have the right to happy. I'll alway be here for you because I love you." Mary Jane said.
Mary Jane went up and hugged Peter. Peter felt better as the pain inside him slowly fades away.
"How did I ever get so lucky to have a girl like you?" Peter smiled.
"That's easy Tiger, you've hit the jackpot." Mary Jane smiled.
"I love you." Peter said.
"I love you too." Mary Jane said.
Peter and Mary Jane kissed,
"Alright, your ceremony is about to start in a few hours, I'm going to take a shower... you're joining!" Mary Jane's walked smiling towards the bathroom.
Peter smiled and followed her in, he closed the door behind them.
At Central Park, the place is packed with a lot of people who wanted to witness. Spider-Man is at Avengers Tower waiting to make the big surprise. Gwen and Sally arrived with George.
"Okay girls, go find your spots, I'll be at the stage." George Stacy said.
"Good luck dad!" Gwen said.
"You too Gwennie!" George Stacy said.
Gwen and Sally are in the crowd.
May and Mary Jane are here.
"Where's is Peter?" May said.
"Oh... he got held up at work." Mary Jane lied.
"Well... you know best, you know the kind of man he really is." May said.
"I do... he the man I love." Mary Jane said.
May is already aware of the secret Peter kept from her, she knew that Mary Jane knows the truth about Peter.
Betty and Ned arrived, Betty hopes to get a few words from Spider-Man, Ned takes the photos.
"This is quite a crowd he's attracted." Ned Leeds said.
"Yeah, well the man is a hero, he saved my life." Betty said.
"Listen uh... after the ceremony, I was wondering if... you want to go out for coffee." Ned Leeds said.
"For coffee? Ned... are... are you asking me out on a date?" Betty said.
"Well... is just coffee, as friends of course." Ned Leeds said.
Ned seemed to taken an interest in Betty Brant.
The mayor is taking the stage. On the stage beside him are Captain George Stacy, Wilson Fisk, Martin Li, Norman Osborn, and other prominent figures.
"People of New York, months ago this city, this world has faced danger unlike any we've ever seen before. We managed to pull through thanks to the brave men and women that served our city!"
Everyone claps their hands.
"We also wanted to give our thanks to the brave heroes who did the impossible and saved our world from destruction and tyranny. But mostly we wanted to give our thanks to our very own Friendly Neighborhood SPIDER-MAN!!!
Everyone cheered as Spider-Man jumped off the tower, came in a gliding in the air.
Everyone sees him coming in and cheered. He gave them a grand entrance as he landed on stage.
"Hello everyone! Hi!" Spider-Man said.
"SPIDER-MAN!!! SPIDER-MAN!!!
"Hello mayor." Spider-Man shake hands.
He then shook hands with Captain Stacy and Martin Li. He then is surprised to find Wilson Fisk here given the encounter they had last time.
"Fisk?... I'm surprised that you're here." Spider-Man said.
"Oh, I wouldn't miss this moment for the world!" Fisk smiled.
Spider-Man got a shiver from his smile, he's up to something, he wouldn't come here is if was that important to him.
"Thank you people of New York, I'm honor to be here to in your presence. Though what I do isn't about thanks or rewards, it's about responsibility, about doing what's right for everyone. That's what a good hero does, he fights to keep everyone safe, to give them hope. I am honored to be Spider-Man!" Spider-Man said.
Everyone clapped their hands, Spider-Man's spider sense tingles. He looked up at the sky and see the Vulture coming in fast.
"The Vulture! Everyone clear out of the park now!!!" Spider-Man yelled.
The crowd see the Vulture coming, they ran out as Spider-Man prepares to fight. Mary Jane escorts May out of here, Gwen too Sally to safety.
"Betty let's go, come on!" Ned Leeds said.
He and Betty got out of the park. Fisk is being escorted out as he smiles.
Spider-Man jumps and takes down the Vulture with a kick.
"You never learned, I've taken you down before and I'll do it again. You're unwise to take me on alone." Spider-Man said.
"Oh... I didn't come alone!" Vulture smiled.
Spider-Man's sense tingled again, he dodged an incoming blast from the Shocker.
"Shocker!" Spider-Man said.
His spider sense tingles again as he felt the movement on the sand he's standing on, he jumped out as it attacked him. He sees the Sandman is here.
"Sandman!" Spider-Man said.
He then see the Rhino running, charging in with his horn. He dodge it quickly until he got surprised by then Scorpion who swings his tail and hits him.
Spider-Man tries to get up until his wrists are caught by mechanical limbs. He sees that Doctor Octopus is here.
"Spider-Man... we meet again." Doctor Octopus said.
"Ah... What's up Doc?" Spider-Man jokes.
"Still a joker as always, I'm afraid that it'll do you no good. So what's the spider to do?" Doctor Octopus said.
"Improvise!" Spider-Man said.
He kicked Doctor Octopus in the face, he got freed until he got blasted back by the Shocker. Then he got punched hard by the Sandman.
Gwen watches as Spider-Man is outmatched.
"Sally, get to safety quickly!" Gwen said.
"What are you going to be doing?" Sally said.
"Helping a spider, go!" Gwen said.
Sally ran to safety as Gwen found an restroom nearby, she enters it and pulls out her homemade costume out of the backpack.
Spider-Man still fights off the six villains. The Rhino slams his fists down as Spider-Man caught them. Scorpion came in and managed to sting him.
"Ahh!!" Spider-Man said.
Spider-Man got poisoned by the Scorpion's venom. He's having trouble maintaining focus as the venom did it's work.
"You're poisoned, we can just wait as it slowly kills you or we just finish you off her as quickly and painlessly as possible. Which do you prefer?" Doctor Octopus said.
"Is there a third option?" Spider-Man said.
The villains came in close until they heard a beep, they see a motorbike coming in.
"Incoming!!!" Gwen said.
Gwen is in her costume as she rode close to Spider-Man.
"Take my hand!" Gwen said.
Spider-Man reached out as she grabbed his hand and pull him on to her bike. She rode off with both of them.
"What?! Vulture, after them!" Doctor Octopus said.
The Vulture flies off as he chases after Spider-Man and his masked friend.
"Gwen is that you?" Spider-Man said.
"Yeah... it's me!" Gwen said.
"You stole a bike?" Spider-Man said.
"I borrowed it, it's an emergency!" Gwen said.
Their spider senses are tingling, they see the Vulture coming in. Vulture fires off his metal feathers.
"Turn right!" Spider-Man said.
She complied and steered right, they cut through the trees. The Vulture still flies towards them.
"Do something about the Vulture Spidey!" Gwen said.
Spider-Man shot the web line at the trees. The Vulture flies towards it.
"Oh!!" Vulture said.
He crashed on the web line and fell down on the ground.
"Nice Spidey!" Gwen said.
"Yeah, I'm..." Spider-Man said.
Spider-Man fell off the bike as Gwen stopped and ran up to him.
"Spider-Man! Spider-Man! Come on!" Gwen said.
"The tower... get to the tower." Spider-Man felt sick.
Gwen then took the web shooters from his wrists and strapped them on hers. She used her strength to pick Spider-Man up. She got close to the building and webs sling away with Spider-Man.
Gwen arrived at Avengers Tower with a poisoned Spider-Man. She laid him on the couch and removed his mask.
"What's wrong with you?" Gwen said.
"Poisoned... antidote... infirmary... now..." Peter said.
Gwen ran up towards the infirmary and searches for the antidote for the scorpion venom. She found it and a needle to inject it.
She ran back towards Peter with the antidote.
"This is gonna hurt." Gwen said.
Gwen held the needle in her grip, she slammed down on his chest, injected it into his hearts. Peter got up as he felt the pain.
"Owww!!! Did you really have to do that? That's hurts!" Peter said.
"Stop being a baby... Gets some rest, the antidote should do it's work now." Gwen said.
Peter drifted to sleep as his body is being cleansed of the venom.
Later Mary Jane came by the tower and ran up towards a sleepy Peter.
"Oh Peter! I'm so glad that you're alright!" Mary Jane said.
Gwen watched as Mary Jane tends to Peter. She envied her, what she has with Peter. Gwen still has feelings for Peter but she realizes that Mary Jane is his true love, all she can do is respect it.
"Thank you." Mary Jane smiled.
"You're welcome." Gwen smiled.
Peter is waking up as he see Mary Jane and Gwen.
"How are you feeling sleepyhead?" Mary Jane said.
"I'm I in heaven or something?" Peter said.
"Close... though that gonna have to wait." Mary Jane said.
Peter turned to Gwen.
"Gwen... what the hell were you thinking?" Peter said.
"I was thinking about saving your live, you're welcome by the way." Gwen replied.
"You know I had it under control!" Peter protest.
"Ah... apparently not, since those six kicked your ass and you came close to death if I didn't sweep you of your feet." Gwen said.
"You could've been killed." Peter said.
"But I didn't, not only did I survive but I also saved you." Gwen said.
"You think that this is a game, what you're getting into is dangerous!" Peter said.
"Peter, this whole world is dangerous, I was kidnapped and threatened, this city got attacked by lizards, then the aliens came to take this world. If you think this is dangerous, then you need to wake up to the reality. Do you really think that this world is safe anymore? Things has gotten worse and uglier than ever. This world needs heroes more than ever." Gwen said.
"Gwen... I appreciate what you've done, but don't take this life lightly, there's always a price for such a life. Your life will never be the same if you continue down this path." Peter said calmly.
"Everything changed since that spider bit me, I chose to save someone I care about. I'm no longer that same shy smart girl that you knew, I became so much more. Why can't you understand that?" Gwen said.
Gwen walked away as Peter and Mary Jane.
"So now what? You can't go back out there and face them alone. You need help." Mary Jane said.
"You're right... why don't you go check on Gwen. I'll see if I can get help." Peter said.
"Okay." Mary Jane said.
Mary Jane left the room as Peter got his phone and dialed Steve Rogers.
"Hey Cap!" Peter said.
"Son... heard about what happened. Are you alright?" Steve said.
"Yeah, I survived... barely. Listen is there anyone who can help me out that's available?" Peter said.
"Sorry, I'm in... well that's classified. Thor is still away in Asgard, Banner is across the pond with Betty Ross, Tony is handling the Mandarin problem, Carol is out helping the Guardians." Steve said.
"The Who?" Peter said.
"Never mind, sorry that we can't be of help to you. What about your new protege?" Steve said.
"Gwen... I don't think that's an option." Peter said.
"Look I'm not thrilled to have someone young getting into hero business, not that there's something wrong with that, no disrespect intended." Steve said.
"None taken." Peter smiled.
"You've trained her for this, she's got power, she's ready. You just need to have faith in her and in yourself." Steve said.
"What if something goes wrong and she does?" Peter said.
"Do you remember that months ago the world was about to be conquered by the Skrulls, it didn't because we had each other, we came together and became a team that saved this world. You need to trust that she can handle it, trust me." Steve said.
"I do Cap." Peter said.
"Good... one more thing, Stark left you a gift for you birthday, he hopes that it'll help you. I have to get going, Bye." Steve said.
"Bye... say hi to Sharon for me!" Peter smiled.
Steve hanged up, Peter went to his quarters and sees a case that Tony Stark left for. He opened it and sees the surprise.
"Wow... Hot Dog!" Peter smiled.
At the living quarters, Mary Jane went up to check on Gwen.
"How are you holding up?" Mary Jane said.
"I'm not hurt so that's a good sign." Gwen said.
"That's not what I meant." Mary Jane said.
"Peter just doesn't want me to be a hero, I thought he be proud but instead he's disappointed." Gwen said.
"He's not disappointed... he's just trying to protect you from this life. Trust me, I've been with him for months and I saw the toll it took on him, it's been hard. He just doesn't want you suffer like he'd suffered." Mary Jane said.
"When I was kidnapped the first time, I never been so afraid in my life. I thought that I was going to die, but Peter saved me and he gave me hope. Then the spider bit me and I got these amazing powers. My friend Sally was close to being killed by one of these lizards, I went against my dad's wishes and save her. I realize that there are other people out there that needs heroes to keep them safe. That's why I chose to be a hero." Gwen said.
"You are a hero, today you just proved it." Mary Jane said.
"Thank you." Gwen smiled.
Peter came in wearing his new suit that is red and gold.
"So how do you like my new suit?" Spider-Man said.
"Amazing!" Mary Jane said.
"Spectacular! What is it?" Gwen said.
"It's an armor that Tony made for me, the Iron Spider." Spider-Man said.
His phone vibrates as he got a call from Betty Brant.
"Betty, what's going on?" Spider-Man said.
"Peter, these criminals are causing rampage at Time Square. The police are unable to stop them. I was hoping that you can send Spider-Man the message." Betty said.
"Don't worry, I'll make sure he gets it." Peter hangs up. "They're at Time Square, we need to go!"
"We?" Gwen said.
"Are you up for it?" Spider-Man said.
Spider-Man and Mary Jane awaits her answer.
"Yeah!... I'm with you." Gwen said.
"Let's get going... Ghost-Spider." Spider-Man said.
"Ghost-Spider?" Gwen said.
"I would've called you Spider-Woman." Spider-Man said.
"I like it!" Gwen said.
"But it's taken." Spider-Man said.
"Aw!" Gwen said.
The police at Time Square are having a hard time holding the line against the six criminals.
"Bring in the tank!" George Stacy said.
A SWAT tank came in as the Rhino came charging in and tipped it over. The SWAT officers climbed out as the Shocker is charging up his gauntlets. The officers ran as it shot the tank, blowing it up.
"Fall back everyone!" George Stacy said.
Doctor Octopus got his metal clamp on Captain Stacy.
"Captain!" Yuri Watanabe said.
Yuri aimed her gun but he disarmed her and swings his tentacle at her, she got knocked out cold as Doctor Octopus has Captain Stacy.
"Captain Stacy... I apologize for this unfortunate turn of events but just know that this isn't personal, at least not to you." Doctor Octopus said.
Spider-Man came in, he webbed Doctor Octopus face, he dived in for a kick. His clamp dropped the Captain as Ghost-Spider caught him and carried him to safety. She just saved her dad.
"Here you go Da... I mean Captain Stacy!" Ghost-Spider said.
"Thank you... whatever your name is?" George Stacy said.
"I'm Ghost-Spider." Ghost-Spider said.
"Hey! If you're done, I could use some backup!" Spider-Man said.
"Right! Excuse me." Ghost-Spider said.
Ghost-Spider joined up with Spider-Man as they prepare to fight off the six villains. Doctor Octopus removes the web from his face and see that there's two spiders now.
"What?! There's two of you now!" Doctor Octopus said.
"Yeah! Together we're gonna take on you sinister six!" Ghost-Spider said.
Spider-Man gave her the look.
"What? You think you're the only one who can come up with names." Ghost-Spider said.
"The Sinister Six, I like the sound of that. Thank you Ghost-Spider for the name. Sinister Six assemble!" Doctor Octopus said.
"Who died and made you boss?" Shocker said.
"I am the superior brain of you all, a Master Planner." Doctor Octopus said.
The villain team decided to call themselves the Sinister Six, with Doctor Octopus as their leader.
"Alright Ghost-Spider, this is it." Spider-Man said.
Spider-Man and Ghost-Spider swings in and faces the Sinister Six. Spider-Man jumped and kicked the Vulture in the face. Ghost-Spider uses her acrobatics to avoid the fire from the Shocker. She got closer and kicked him. Spider-Man finished off the Vulture.
"Two down, four to go!" Spider-Man said.
Rhino came charging at Ghost-Spider, she jumped up and webs up his horn. She got on top of him.
"Get off!" Rhino said.
"Okay let's see, turn right!" Ghost-Spider said.
She uses the web to turn the Rhino. Spider-Man does everything he can to avoid the Scorpion sting.
"What did I ever do to you to deserve this?" Spider-Man said.
"You try to threaten me with my own tail." Scorpion said.
"Oh... point taken." Spider-Man said.
Spider-Man dodge the sting again as he see Ghost-Spider coming in riding the Rhino.
"Incoming!" Ghost-Spider said.
Spider-Man jumped out of the way as the Rhino crashed Scorpion, he got knocked out cold by the Rhino. The Rhino got up and sees two spiders in front of him.
"Shall we?" Ghost-Spider said.
"Ladies first!" Spider-Man said.
"Huh?!" Rhino said.
Both of them punched Rhino at the same time, he fell back out cold.
"Four down!" Ghost-Spider said.
The Sandman enlarged himself and attacked them both. They both dodge his attack until Spider-Man sees a hydrant nearby.
"Ghost-Spider! Keep him distracted!" Spider-Man said.
"On it!" Ghost-Spider said.
Ghost-Spider kept Sandman distracted as Spider-Man reached the hydrant.
"Force him my way!" Spider-Man said.
Ghost-Spider shot off some webbing at Sandman's face, taunting him. He took the bait and heading towards Spider-Man, he kicked the hydrant lid as water came out at Sandman.
"No!!!" Sandman said.
Sandman got all wet that his body is like mud.
"Now is your chance. Hit him!" Spider-Man said.
Ghost-Spider punched Sandman in his vulnerable state, he got defeated.
"That's Five." Ghost-Spider said.
"Doesn't matter, I'll take you both on myself!" Doctor Octopus said.
Doctor Octopus attacks them both as they dodged his tentacles. Spider-Man tries to get close to a punch but he was caught.
"Nice try!" Doctor Octopus said.
Doctor Octopus tossed him back hard until Spider-Man's Iron Spider Armor activated its special features. His suit deployed four waldoes.
"What the...?" Doctor Octopus said.
"You're not the only one with four extra limbs!" Spider-Man said.
His waldoes gave him a boast, he jumped in close and punched Doctor Octopus in the face. Doctor Octopus is out cold.
"And you make Six!" Spider-Man said.
All six members are defeated as the crowd witnessed and cheered.
"You did it!" Ghost-Spider said.
"No... we did it, together." Spider-Man said.
They see Betty Brant and Ned Leeds.
"Who are you?" Betty said.
"I'm Ghost-Spider." Ghost-Spider said.
Betty now interviews the new hero as Ned Leeds takes a picture of both Spider-Man and his new partner Ghost-Spider.
Next Day At Stan's Diner, Peter, Mary Jane, and Gwen looked at the Daily Bugle, it said 'Spider-Man and Ghost-Spider teamed up with Sinister Six to menace the City'.
"Unbelievable, first time I do something righteous and I get criticized on paper!" Gwen said.
"Get use to it, doing what we do usually has critics like Jameson paint us as bad guys. But remember that it's not about reward or a thank you, it's about responsibility." Peter said.
"Responsibility?" Gwen said.
"Yeah... with great power comes great responsibility. Those are the words that kept me going, remember it." Peter said.
"I will, I promise. So what going to happen with the Sinister Six, they broke out once." Gwen said.
"Don't worry, they're being transported to new prison that S.H.I.E.L.D. just built for supervillains, it's called the Raft. I don't think we have anything to worry about in a while." Peter said.
"That's good to hear." Gwen said.
"Here's to Ghost-Spider." Mary Jane holds up her milkshake.
"To Ghost-Spider." Peter hold his milkshake.
"Ghost-Spider, cheers." Gwen said.
They clanked their glasses together. They all drank their milkshakes.
"By the way I got a gift for you back at the tower." Peter said.
"What is it?" Gwen said.
"It's a surprise." Peter smiled.
At Avengers Tower, Peter, Gwen, and Mary Jane arrived at the top floor.
"So... what the surprise?" Gwen said.
"Is in that case right there." Peter said.
Gwen walked up to the case and opens it up, she sees her new suit. It resembles the costumes she drew in her sketch.
"Are you for real?" Gwen said.
"I saw that sketch of yours and had this made with the resources of Stark Tech. I wanted to give it to you when you're ready, now you're even more ready than ever." Peter said.
"It's perfect, thank you." Gwen smiled.
"Well go on, try it out!" Peter said.
Later Peter and Mary Jane waited for Gwen to come out.
"So how do I look?" Gwen said.
They see Gwen dressed in her new costume, it white and black mixed with dark pink and light blue, it even includes the hood just as she wanted.
"It's definitely you." Mary Jane said.
"It's wonderful." Peter smiled.
Gwen took of her mask. "Thank you... Spidey."
"You're welcome... Spidey!" Peter smiled.
Gwen Stacy was bitten by a spider and now she is the one and only Ghost-Spider.
