Hey guys! This is my first story so I hope you like it. Feel free to comment any mistakes I might have made or on anything you liked! Warning! There will be boat parts mentioned in this story if you are not aware of what the poop deck or crows nest or starboard and port is (which are just a few of the many sailor sayings in this book) then I highly recommend that you search those things or you might not be able to figure out what is happening in this story. The picture is not done by me! Please owner don't sue me! I just saw it on safari and I thought this amazing work of art would go well with my story!

If you don't know I don't the Httyd characters. Unfortunately : (

Hennry Haddock sprang out of his bed and rushed to put his clothes on. Usually he would be dressed in something much more formal then a white shirt that looked like it was worn by a pirate and loose pants and a belt for two nives. But he was about to embark on a grand adventure on his father's ship, The Fury. This ship was not like many others it wasn't a pirate ship but it wasn't a ship full of law abiding people. It was allways attacked by enemys of the city of Berk. Hiccup rushed down the stairs and ignored the warm food on the table. He wanted to get down to the ship as soon as possible. As he ran down the dock he bego to ponder about all the wonderful things he would experience. There it was before him the strong and powerful ship. Henry ran up the gang way as the crew began to load the crates of food and supplies upon the ship. His father Stoick Haddock had mentioned that there was going to be some new members of the crew on the ship but he didn't think much about it. He looked up at the top of the second mast to the tallest crows nest. That's was going to his position on the ship. He couldn't wait!

"Son!!"Shouted his father from the door of the captains cabin. Henry ran over to his father.

"Here." Stoick handed his son a shiny new sword with a red lether handel.

"Wow, thanks Dad!"

" It's a real sword for a real pirate. Wear it proudly, but remember its a weapon not a toy."

" Aye Aye Captain! "

Hennry waved to his mother as they sailed away from the dock. He was going to miss her and her tasty cooking but this was the start of a grand escapade. As they sailed into open waters, Stoick held Henry's shoulder and walked up on to the poop deck.

"Everybody I would all like you to meet the newest member of The Fury. Hiccup Haddock!"

"Dad!" fumed Henry. His nickname was Hiccup but his dad was always teasing him about in front of others. Most of the crew already knew about it but some didn't and he didn't think it was fair for him to mention it in front of new people, even though he knew it was a joke.

"Now, I want everyone to be nice to our new friend and for you all to line up at the bottom of the poop deck to shake his hand."

As many lined up to give a warm welcome to the new arrival, Hiccup found himself shaking the hand of all who were aboard. He shook the hand of people he had never seen and he shook the hands of people he had known since his childhood. Then a blonde girl came up to him. Hiccup wasn't sure but he didn't remember seeing anyone else who wasn't a guy. In fact some people believed that girls on a pirate ship brought bad luck to a voyage.

"Well, it looks like were cursed guys!" Hiccup had ment it as a joke and everyone seem to think it was funny except the blonde girl.

"I'm Henry..." But before he could finish a hand reached out a punched him right in the shoulder.

"I'm Astrid Hofferson, pleased to meet you. Hiccup was shocked! This girl had a powerful arm.

As the girl began to walk away, Stoick called her back.

"Hey lass, do you think you could whip my son into shape!" Hiccup stared at him father. Had he even seen the way that girl punched him! He was doomed!

"Sure. Meet me down by the second mast in ten Hiccup." she sighed. Then walked down to the hold of the ship.

Astrid Hofferson walked to the main deck with a scowl. She couldn't believe the captain had assigned her to help his son Hiccup. From the look of him he was strong not brave and definitely not skill with a sword. And there he was sitting at the bottom of the main mast sleeping. Oh how she wanted to get out of this, it was embarrassing. She approached and somehow didn't waking him. She started at him. There was nothing cool about him. He was skinny with freckles and brown messy hair. Come to think of it, hve did kinda cute. No! She would have this happened again. With a kick to the side, he woke instantly standing to attention. She sighed.

"At ease."

Hiccup put his hand down.

"Alright your first assignment it to climb the mast to the crowd nest." She gestureed to to the top of the mast where the crows nest sat.

" You know, there a ladder over at the base of the mast." He looked over to the back of the mast and at the rope ladder.

" I know but I'm in charge and I say if your going to be in the crows nest for you job you are going to learn to climb the mast."

Hiccup reluctantly pulled out his nives from their holsters, and began to climb the the mast. Slowly he ascended the mast but aventualy he stopped not far from where he started. He dropped to the floor panting, with sweat dripping down his face. Astrid stared at him. I guess he's worse the I thought.

"Come with me," she said as she walked towards the back of the ship. As they came to the rudder she stopped at looked at him.

"Alright this should be easier. Jump into the water and wait until the ship is decently far from you. Then you swim to the boat a climb back in."

" But the ship is so fast!"

Astrid glared at him. So he reluctantly began to pull off his shirt. Astrid looked away. Why was he like this.

" Hiccup. When you fall into the water you don't have time to TAKE OFF YOUR SHIRT!"

Hiccup sheepishly put is shrist and belt on, and with a big splash he jumped into the water. He began to swim far out from the ship. After he was

two feet from the ship he started coming back. Astrid was about to tell him to go further. But as he came back towards the boat he was drifting further into the ocean. Finnaly she tossed him a rope. As he came out of the water he was blushing. Greeeaatt now he's embarrassed.

"Are you any good with a sword?" Astrid already assumed the answer.

"Yes! My father said that I'm probably the best on the ship."

Astrid was surprised! At least he was good at that.

As the sun began to set, they returned to the main deck.

"Tomorrow. Were going to get better." At that Hiccup gave her a lopsided smile. She smiled back at him, telling herself that it was only to reward him for trying and that she wasn't beginning to be friends with him.

As she lay in her hammock, she tried not to think about the boy with the lopsided smile, which she didn't know yet had stolen her heart.
