After the phone call that my father took to my mother while I was listening in I was wondering why mom never said anything about him and her especially if she still loved him. Whenever I asked, she never talked about him but she also never really dated anyone else. From knowing mom, I am pretty sure she is still in love with him. I wonder if she's on her way here. After I left the room, I walked into the living room and asked what is going on who are you and why were you yelling at my mother. He sighed running his hands through his hair clearly a stress habit of his. He told me his name was Edward and I'm your father I said.
Shocked I stood there for a second before responding. How did you know? He said you look just like me as a girl I always wondered what I look like as a girl now I know. What are you doing in Texas? I told him I was looking at colleges to go to although mom was not too happy that I was coming down here and now I know why. I think she was worried what you would say to her about me. He said I wish I knew; I wish I had a choice even if I wasn't involved with you and your mother I would have still helped out. I said well, there's nothing you can do now about it.
I always had imagined what my dad looked like and why he wasn't around. I was still trying to wrap my head around the fact that my mother never even told me about him. It was a lot to process. I was broken out of my thoughts with his response. He said yeah, I know but I like to get to know you if that's all right with you. I said yeah that would be fine with me. I asked what do you do for a living? He said I ran the business I asked what kind of business. He said I own a couple of clubs around the state, and I help out with your grandfather's shipping company.
He asked me what I want to go for college for I told him I want to go to cosmetology school. I love doing hair yes, I know how to cook mom did teach me, but I love to cut hair and dye it too. He said good for you, if need be, I will help you pay for college. I said okay and thanked him for the offer. Mama is really worried about the money, but I never told him that. Mama would never forgive me if I said anything to him about the money issues we have. I'm not supposed to know about them, but I do.
After we start talking for a while he asked if I wanted to go to dinner with him, I said yes. I looked to my Aunt Alanna and told her that I was leaving with him to go get dinner if she did not mind. She said okay check in with me when you get there and when you get when you leave so I know when you come home if you don't your mother might kill me. I said okay we left the house we got into his SUV and then was a huge guy sitting up front and he looked to Dad and asked where to Boss? Dad said to New Moon restaurant it's a restaurant that's very exclusive only a few people can get into it on a short notice most the time you have to wait months in advance to even get a table. My aunt had told me about it when we saw it while driving around town.
I wonder how he could and I asked him don't you need a reservation for that he said no your uncle owns it he owns a couple of those kinds of restaurants I said okay. Then I asked what kind of business my Uncle owned he said my younger brother owns it his wife isn't that right Emmett. I looked around to see who was Emmett and he said the guy that is driving the SUV he owns the restaurant but he also drives me around sometimes most of the time Peter drives me around. I said okay and then we were off when we got there the waitress that was sitting us kept looking at dad like he was a piece of meat it disgusted me. It's like come on he's with his daughter have some dignity I was thinking but I never said anything out loud but the look at my dad's face said it happened all the time. I said if Mom saw that she would have ripped her a new one he said most likely.
He got a wistful look on his face and smiled as if he could imagine it happening . He said knowing your mother definitely she tells you how it is no matter what that's one thing I Love about her. Then a male waiter came to get our order and for some reason he was looking me all over up and down my dad did not like that one bit. My dad said angrily go get me someone else now. The guy left quickly and out came a woman she was very professional she took our order dad got steak with baked potatoes and broccoli. I got salmon with greens and mashed potatoes. After she wrote that all down she said what did we want to drink I said water for my dad said the same for me start with we got an order of onion rings to share.
After she left to put everything in dad started asking more about my life and mom. Dad asked about what mom did for living? How was the school I go to? How are my grades? When do I graduate? I told him everything that my mom works at a diner. My grades are great and I'm looking at graduating early with a grades I have by looks that I can graduate this year if I can find a college that will take me next year. I told him if not I'll just wait until the year after to graduate.
He said good for you maybe graduate this year then take a year off then go to college. I said I don't have that kind of money to do something like that. I would just end up working to help mom out with bills. Dad frowned and said that's fine I'll help with that. I said are you sure? I don't want to be a bother said no, no it's not a bother. I said okay. After the onion rings came out, I said one minute I got a message Alanna and tell her that I am here. I had almost forgotten. I texted her that I'm here and everything is fine and I'm having a nice time with him.
After that I asked him about him and his life, he says well I said you know that I own a club while a few of them and I help your grandfather out with his shipping company and there's other things in my life that I cannot tell you just yet. I said why not well first of all you're only 16 you do not need to know this kind of stuff hopefully never but you never know what's going to happen in this life. I said okay that's fine with me. We just met after all it wasn't like I was going to reveal all my secrets right now either.
Deciding to change the subject I asked how did you meet Mom anyways? He said she came down one summer with your aunt, your aunt was looking at schools so was your mother and I accidentally ran into her at a club. It was actually my first club that I owned I put my blood sweat and tears into that one and it still is up to this day. After I ran into your mother I asked to buy her a drink she said no then left with your aunt after that I'll just left to go upstairs to my office to make sure nothing happened to anyone then I saw her sitting down drinking and some guy comes up starting to bug her.
She asked him to leave but he wouldn't so I went down and told the guy to leave he said why she likes it your mother says no I do not leave me the f*** alone. He did not until I said leave now or the bouncers will take you out. The guy ask who are you to be saying stuff like that and I told him I'm the owner you dumbass. He didn't believe me until I signaled for the bouncers. He left your mother alone then she said I will take that drink now then after that we got to talking about different things. At the end of the night, I gave her my number so she could call me so I could take her out on a date if she didn't mind she said I'm only here for the summer. I'm looking at colleges to go to and I told her okay whatever she'd like to do.
Then Nikki asked what happened after that he said that we got to know each other. Then one thing led to another well you came long but I didn't know about that. After that one night your mother left, I had no reason why she did until earlier today. She said there's somebody told her that I was marrying some other woman, but I was not I hated the woman so much. The woman is very shallow and very high maintenance unlike your mother. After we got done talking and eating dinner was delicious, he says do you want to go get some ice cream or do you want to go home? I said ice cream please, so we left the restaurant, and we headed down the block to the ice cream place.
They had so many different flavors I got my favorite Rocky Road he got plain vanilla I said really? He said it's good you don't mess with classics. I said whatever floats your boat after we were done eating at the ice cream we got into the SUV and headed back to Aunt Alana's house. When we got into the SUV, I called her and told her we were on our way she said okay see you soon. When we got to the house mom was there waiting, she did not look so happy. I said Mom I had a nice time with him, and she said okay I am glad but we have to talk Edward. He said yes, I know but can I wait till the morning it's late. Crossing her arms and looking uncomfortable mom said okay but we will be talking in the morning. He said okay see you in the morning.
