The trip to Baba's palace was given a twist no one in the small group expected. Ayote's mother, Elery, had been revived by the old hag's magic. Now in the presence of her mother, Ayote, along with her friends, were left dumbstruck at the revelation. But what would happen next?

Aside from a slight gust of wind, the air was still as Elery let the reveal of her being the one who not only gave birth to Ayote but raised her for the first few years of her life set in. Yamcha, Puar, and Krillin looked between Ayote and Elery, now seeing the relation as both had similar hairstyles though different body types.

Yamcha: "S-So wait… If you're Ayote's mom. Uh…"

Elery: "...Yes?"

Yamcha just stops himself, not waiting to let the intrusive thoughts win, leaving it vague - and confusing - on what exactly he was going to ask. Goku jumps to get ready to fight, getting into a fighting pose.

Goku: "Regardless of who you are, you stand between us and a fortune telling. Sorry, but I'm going to win."

Elery: "You're free to try, Kakarot. And old man, don't worry. I'm not gonna kill the boy."

This didn't reassure Gohan, but Elery stepped up, crossing her arms as she unfurls her tail.

Elery: "I'll make it easy for you, boy. If you make me use my hands, then you'll win. Easy enough, right?"

The older Saiyan was taunting Goku now; and because he couldn't sense energy yet, he couldn't quite tell this lady was far stronger than him. Still, he kept his composure before launching at Elery, aiming a punch square at her face. The punch connects… but Elery didn't even budge, much to Goku's shock. Elery looked at him, still smiling a smug look; Goku got back to the offensive, punching Elery endlessly at various points of her body, but she shrugs off these attacks as if the boy was giving her a massage. Everyone looked at this with utter fear; everyone but Ayote, who knew Elery the best out of everyone. Goku jumps back as he charges a Kamehameha, firing the blast at the Saiyan, hitting right on. Everyone but Ayote cheers as it seemed like Goku had won. But as the smoke clears, Goku's confidence drained as Elery remained standing, completely unmoved by the attack.

Goku: "Wh-Whoa… J-Just what kind of power do you have?"

Elery: "Hmm… Pretty average power for my age."

Elery shrugs before vanishing over to Goku, surprising him as he takes a step back. She looks down at him for a moment before her tail slaps him under the chin, sending him high in the air. As he was about to hit the ground head first, Elery catches him by the foot with her tail.

Elery: "And knockout. Sorry, Kakarot. But you're no Bardock when it comes to power, but you'll get there eventually."

The woman then drops Goku, who lands on the ground with a thud, swirls in his eyes from the instant knockout. Elery walks back into place as she looks at Ayote.

Elery: "Now while Kakarot will be a fine warrior in his own right, he's not the main event for me. You are, Ayote."

Ayote was very visibly nervous. She knew her mother was certainly unlike most Saiyans when it came to her, but Elery was still a ruthless fighter when she got serious. But regardless, Ayote walked up, confronting her mother.

Elery: "You don't have to look so nervous. After all, I figured you'd be happy to see your ol' lady."

Ayote: "Well, considering I wanted to revive you just so you and I could live on Earth together…"

Elery waves that idea aside before giving Ayote a serious look.

Elery: "Kiddo, my time has come and gone. While I'll admit the life I had before it got snuffed out was by no means one I wanted - what with taking lives of other creatures on other planets and all - I got to become a mother and give a better life to that very child I birthed."

Ayote's eyes widened, her heart skipping a beat as the older Saiyan continued.

Elery: "Trust me, as much as I'd love Earth, I'd just get bored of it eventually. I was bred a warrior first and foremost, meaning my life is nothing but killing and destruction. Even if I didn't enjoy it wholesale, it was still a life I lived. You and Kakarot though? You two are free from the influences that dragged the rest of us down. Free to choose how you want to live. And the way I see it… I couldn't be more proud."

Elery gives a genuine smile at her daughter, causing Ayote to start to tear up. She had no idea what to say to that, but it did make her very emotional.

Baba: "Elery… As much as I enjoy this pep talk… Don't forget why I summoned you here."

Elery: "Yeah yeah yeah. Keep your hat on, lady."

Elery extends a hand to Baba as the old lady summons an hourglass - though more of a minute glass - and hands it to the waiting Saiyan.

Elery: "Your challenge, Ayote, will be quite different. Much like Kakarot, your attacks will do… pretty much nothing. So instead of letting you fight me head-on… Let's test your endurance."

She then raises a finger as she smiles.

Elery: "One minute. One minute of me attacking you while you dodge or block. If you are out cold for ten seconds, you lose. And of course, if you endure the full minute, you win. Think you can handle it?"

Ayote: "We've sparred before, Mom. I feel like I could handle you."

Elery's smile becomes more devious as she glares at Ayote.

Elery: "...How much of that was me holding back though?"

This… scared Ayote suddenly. She didn't even consider the idea that her mother was just holding back for her. A wind blew across the battlefield as Elery places down the glass; in that instant, she zips over to her daughter and punches her right in the gut. This very sudden action took a second for Ayote to register. Once it did, her body couldn't handle it as she started to throw up on the ground, collapsing to her knees as the force of the attack made her body vibrate and her ears ring.

Elery: "This is what it looks like when I stop holding back."

Krillin: "A-Ayote!"

Krillin and Yamcha got ready to assist, but a sudden explosion a fair distance behind them caused them to stop. They slowly turn back towards the explosion before looking at Elery, who had two fingers pointing upwards - a Giant Storm…

Elery: "Just a warning, I'm not gonna give any mercy to those who get in the way. So stay out of this."

With that taken care of, Elery turns back to her daughter, who was still dealing with her injury. She grabs Ayote by the hair and lifts her up. She then kicks Ayote right into the air, sending the younger Saiyan flying before flying after her. Ayote starts to reorient herself in time as Elery quickly catches up to her. Ayote is met with a huge beatdown, even as she blocked the incoming attacks; each hit was like a piston going at mach 10, with Elery not letting up as Ayote could barely endure this onslaught. That is until Ayote manages to dodge a punch and get behind Elery.

Ayote: "All I got to do is survive a minute, right?"

Elery: "Huh!?"

Ayote immediately grabs Elery by her tail, holding it tight. Her friends below smile as they think she won because of this. But Elery was oddly calm; in fact she didn't seem to be struggling like Ayote or Goku would when their tails are grabbed.

Elery: "Really? You thought that would work?"

Elery turns and slams her foot right into Ayote's face with a downward diagonal roundhouse, sending Ayote flying down an impact hard enough to leave a crater.

Elery: "Guess you haven't quite learned that Saiyans can just train that weakness out. It's not an end all be all solution forever."

Ayote struggled to get out of the crater as she stood back up. Her body was shaking in pain as Elery descends down to greet her. Yamcha glared at the mother before turning to Baba.

Yamcha: "Hey! Call the fight off! Don't you see that Ayote can't take it!?"

Baba stared stoically at Yamcha before looking back at the "fight". She does admit to herself that she didn't expect this kind of beatdown from a Saiyan mother like her. She looked at the glass on the floor and hoped Ayote wouldn't die from this encounter.

Ayote: "Sh-Shut up, Yamcha! Don't assume I'm that weak!"

Elery: "There's that stubborn attitude I like. Out of everything you could've gotten from that bastard father of your's I'm glad it was his stubborn nature. Might want to know when to call it quits though."

Ayote: "I don't know the meaning of the word 'quit'."

Elery smiles before lunging at Ayote, aiming to slam a fist at her. But she misses as Ayote jumps into the sky, sending a ki blast at her mother in order to blind her. This didn't blind her, but it did give the young Saiyan a few seconds to breath before Elery was on her again. The older Saiyan lands a hard knee on Ayote's gut before following up with a skyward back kick, sending her daughter even higher into the sky. She then starts charging energy into her hand before pointing at Ayote with a finger gun.

Elery: "A little something I picked up while on Planet Cereal. Let's see how my aim is. Star Arrow, fire!"

The energy she charged up fires out of her fingers, sending an arrow-like beam that homed into Ayote at an astonishing speed. The younger Saiyan had little time to react, but she manages to dodge the attack, but her arm gets singed by the attack as it passed her. Blood starts to trail down from her injury as she glares at her mother.

Elery: "Huh. Turns out I'm a very lousy shot."

Elery shrugs before she dashes at Ayote, getting up close and personal before going on the offense once more. Baba was just about to call off the fight, now thinking Elery was going too far. But just as the last speck of sand went to the bottom of the glass, Elery's fist stopped just a few inches from Ayote's face, the sudden halt causing a huge gust of wind to blow past Ayote as… time was up.

Elery: "...Heh. Looks like I lose after all."

Ayote breathes a heavy sigh of relief before she collapses. But before she could fall, Elery grabs her and descends down to Baba to get her fixed up.

Baba: "That was far too harsh, Elery."

Elery: "Welcome to the life of a Saiyan. I was playing around with her more than I usually do, otherwise she would've died the second my first punch connected with her gut."

Baba: "...Still… But I suppose it worked out."

Everyone wasn't quite sure what to think of Elery at the moment, but soon Ayote's wounds mended. And not long after, both she and Goku woke up, the former revitalized after Baba healed her.

Yamcha: "Ayote! Hey. You okay?"

Ayote: "Yeah. I'm fine. A little sore and there's still ringing in my ears, but…"

Krillin: "That's good. Honestly, how could your mom be so cruel? She was way too hard on you."

Yamcha: "Yeah. A parent should be teaching their kid to be tough, not try and kill them."

Krillin and Yamcha expected Ayote to agree with them as any normal kid would. But she and Elery looked at each other before they started laughing, as if they heard the funniest joke ever, much to the duo's confusion.

Ayote: "What are you two talking about? I had a blast! Never had I seen Mom go so hard before! Had I known before, I'd ask to spar MORE."

Elery: "And you all forget that I'm not an Earthling. Hell, if Bardock was around, he'd give the same sort of beating to Kakarot. Though I don't know if he'd pull his punches like I did."

Ayote: "Wait. You were still holding back!? AGH! MOOOOM!"

This actually got under Ayote's skin as she practically bursted on fire in anger. Elery simply laughed this off before turning to Kakarot and Gohan.

Elery: "Sup?"

Goku: "So you weren't out to kill us?"

Elery: "Nope. Never my intention."

Goku: "Then… Can I ask for a rematch?"

Elery: "When you train up, sure. Asking for a rematch right now would… uh… be counter intuitive…"

Gohan: "I must admit, your fighting style is very wild. You have strength and skill. And while I may not agree with your methods personally, as long as you and Ayote had fun, I won't get in the way."

Elery smiles before placing a hand on Gohan's shoulder.

Elery: "Hey, same here. Kakarot- or Goku, if he prefers, is free to live what kind of life he wants. Same for Ayote. But this is just a taste of what fights may come in the future. I'm just here as an appetizer; enemies far stronger than I exist and they are not ones who believe in mercy. If they come to Earth, I'd rather leave you two prepared than not. That was my end goal in this."

Elery places a hand on Goku's head, ruffling his hair with a smile. Goku nods, looking determined to train hard for whatever threat may lie ahead.

Elery: "And with that, I think my time is up. Any longer and I feel like the Other World may send the fun police to arrest me."

Goku: "Uh wait! I am curious about something… Is my Mom and Dad with you? I mean, wherever you were sent?"

Elery: "Gine? Pfft… Believe it or not, she's far more unique a Saiyan than even me; she was sent to Heaven instead of Hell due to her soul being surprisingly more clean than the rest of us. Bardock though… He's an odd case… I asked about him, but seemingly… He never died. In fact, no one knows what happened to him; he just… vanished."

Gohan: "I was sent to Heaven myself. Perhaps… You'd like me to deliver a message, Goku?"

Goku: "Um… Sure. Tell my Mom that… I'm doing okay. And that I'll be big and strong."

Gohan nods as he hugs Goku, happy to see that he was indeed doing alright. Elery turns to Ayote.

Elery: "One last thing. Don't worry about reviving me; I'm perfectly fine with my lot in the afterlife. Like I said before, my time had passed, but you still have a long life ahead of you. Live it how you want to… for me."

Ayote got… very emotional over this as she quickly and tearfully embraced her mother.

Ayote: "I will, Mom… I will…"

After this final embrace from both parental figures, they vanish from the world of the living, heading back to Other World.

Baba: "Well, with that heartfelt goodbye, it is time for my end of the bargain. To find that last Dragon Ball."

Upa: "Goku… Is it truly right for you to revive my father for me? After what you went through…"

Goku: "Don't worry, Upa. My grandpa would want me to do this. Right, Ayote?"

Ayote: "Yeah. I did want to revive my Mom… But if she's fine where she is… Then so am I. I finally got closure…"

The three kids smile as Baba finds the last Dragon Ball, within a red car - and more specifically in the Pilaf Gang's possession.

Ayote: "A red car, huh? Ready, Goku?"

Goku: "Ready when you are."

The two hop onto the Flying Nimbus, heading to the exact location of their goal.

As is the case of the original story, the Pilaf Gang end up defeated and lose their Dragon Ball at the hands of Goku. But with Ayote, the fight ends up even more of a cakewalk thanks to the duo's teamwork and the boons from their latest fights. With the final Dragon Ball in tow, the wish to bring back Upa's father, Bora, is made. As the duo return to Kame House shortly after, Roshi, after hearing what had happened within his sister's palace, advises his two best students to pursue strength on their own by traveling the world. Though the idea of traveling together did cross their minds, the two Saiyans decided to go their separate ways. However, a promise is shared between them - they will meet at the 22nd World Martial Arts Tournament, with the intention of facing each other in a fair match. As friends. And as rivals. And thus, their three year training began…
