Chapter 39

Jungle Area

Before Gongenzaka meets Mieru

"Hey Breath!" Michi said as they put a wet cloth on Ruri's head. When Ruri fell Michi ended the duel saying that someone's health was more important. The only one who complained was Teppei but stopped when Olga stared at him. He swore he saw a glacier with a blizzard blowing. Ruri was panting but every now and then would clench her eyes harder in pain.

"What's wrong? Does she have a medical condition?" Michi asked but Gong said he didn't know since this was the first time he's ever seen her before.

"AH!" Halil said with a smile clapping both hands together, surprising everyone before him.

"Wh-What?" Olga asked after recovering from the shock.

"Her last name matches another person in the tournament right?" Halil said but everyone looked at him confused.

"The reporter lady said that there was a person with the same last name. What was it…Quan…Fruen…June…" Halil said, then started to name some names that he thought were said but then would shake his head and try again.

"SHUN!" Gong said with Halil saying that was it. With a bit more talking (arguing from Teppei) about what to do but when Ruri screamed in pain. They decided to find Shun.

"Wait, do we all have to go?! We don't owe this girl anything!" Teppei said when Michi offered to carry Ruri.

"I didn't owe you anything either when you had me duel every person we met. I could have left you alone at any time but I saw it as honing my skills with all my duels even with you waiting for me to get exhausted and then stab me in the back." Michi said shutting Teppei up.

"I helped you, now I'm asking you to help me." and with that Olga said that the last area she remembered hearing Shun's name was the Ancient Ruins Area. They all nodded at each other and began to run. Teppei looked down and with a shout to the sky he yelled that they were going the wrong way and that they needed to go toward the LDS tower. They stopped and Michi smiled and everyone began to run with Teppei telling them when they needed to turn.

In the arena the crowd had started to clap when Teppei decided to help lead the others to Shun.

"Ah can I go out for a bit?" Ayu asked the now awake principal.

"Eh?" He asked when he stopped looking at the screen trying to see if Ruri was showing symptoms of anything he could think of when Michi asked if Ruri had a medical condition.

"I want to see something else besides the videos and hearing the other people." Ayu said as she pointed to the people were fangirling about how they wished they were the one there. He let out a nervous chuckle but when Yoko fangirled he decided he needed some fresh air too.

"Shuzo if you end up ditching Tatsuya, Futoshi, and Ayu in hopes of finding Yuzu then you will see the revival of the 'Maiami Queens' " She said with a sweet smile but Shuzo felt the threat. He gulped but when she began to fangirl again he wondered if she was joking but decided not to test her. So he left with Ayu but then Futoshi and Tatsuya said they wanted to come along and without waiting for his answer they ran following Ayu who started running as well. He ran after them saying to be careful or they will fall. When they made it to the building, they started going down the stairs and were stopped by one of the Elite Youth telling them that they couldn't exit when the battle royal was happening and please return to their seats.

"What?" Tatsuya said followed by Futoshi asking why and then by Ayu asking even if they wanted a break.

"That's unusual." Shuzo said also confused.

"I'm sorry. But we're thinking of everyone's safety" Himiko said as she walked up to them.

"Chairwoman Akaba!" Shuzo said surprised.

"Leo Corporation is using the Real Solid Vision System outside of a duel stadium for the first time. We don't want any accidents to happen that could have been prevented." She said, giving all of them an apologetic look.

"I see. You won't let anyone enter the Action Field area to avoid possible accidents. Can you at least tell us of the well being of the kids currently dueling." Shuzo asked, hoping to get some information that could help quell the worry building in his heart. Her eyes softened and she said that the kids were safe and that they had measures in place to help if anyone was in danger.

"But what about Ruri…That's the name right?" Tatsuya asked, then looked at his friends asking if that name was right. They nodded and then looked at Himiko intently.

"We have medical staff set up for Ms. Kurosaki when they reach the Ancient Ruins Area. So please put your worry to rest and return to your seats. And aren't you Tatsuya Yamashir, the Junior Class Finalist?" She said as she looked at the three kids softly then at Tatsuya. He confirmed that he was and with that she told him that he will have a match in another venue to determine his opponent and that he looks forward to it. He nodded and with a little nudge from Shuzo they returned to their seats. When they were out of ear shot, the boy that stopped them asked if they truly had medical staff ready and if they did then LDS really thought about everything. She smiled at him and left without saying anything. She continued walking till she reached a pair of double doors and walked in.

"Well?" She asked when she approached a doctor who was cheking Reira's vitals.

"Everything is stable with nothing out of the ordinary." He said looking at a clipboard.

"Then why was she screaming in pain?!" Himiko yelled. The doctor couldn't answer her question and she felt something in her about to snap but then she felt a hand grab hers.

"I'm okay. I'm sorry for worrying you." Reira said, calming Himiko down.

"No, I'm just glad you're okay." She said as she sat in a chair next to the bed.

"Nii-San was so scared, can you tell him I'm sorry." Reira asked, sitting up.

"Of course. So rest here till your duel tomorrow. If you need anything, call the nurse in and she will get it for you." Himiko said as she stood up and then turned to leave when Reira said she understood. Himiko left and walked towards the control room to inform Reiji but before she made it she hit the wall in fury.

"Leo…Akaba…" She said with so much venom but then after a couple of minutes she left to see Reiji and tell him that Reira was okay.

Iceberg Area

Ridding onto a flat pillar Rin skidded to a stop looking around.

"What the hell? Am I in the Ice Age? Wasn't I in a normal town a while ago?" Rin asked. She then looked at her bracelet and felt a sharp pain hit her head.

"Argh…That pain again. Good thing I'm used to pain otherwise I would be dead." She said to herself remembering when she almost drove off the road when she was riding and her head had started to throb with weird images flowing in. She clenched her handle when she saw the image of the commons looking at the tops and the tops looking at them in mockery.

'No! Focus Rin! You have a mission to complete! Find that bitch, force her to tell me where Yugo is after I beat the shit out of her, then go find my idiot and go back home.' She thought and after another sharp pain she rode off to try and find Ruri.

Ancient Ruins Area

Yuzu was standing holding her body as she screamed in pain with a dark aura forming around her, scaring the onlookers.

"Wh-Wh-What's wrong with her" Mieru asked, trembling as she stared at Yuzu.

"I…I don't know…I've never seen her like this…" Gong said as he stared wide eyed. Teppei then looked around and saw Yuzu's monster still on the field. He took a step back but the sound had the monster turning towards them and with quick moves he charged them.

"GET DOWN!" Teppei said falling to the ground with everyone looking in his direction confused followed by panicked screams as they fell to the ground. Gong looked up and saw Yuzu wobble to one of the ruins.

"What's going on inside the temple?" Gong said and then saw Shun jump into view.

"Don't tell me she's going after Kurosaki?" he said but very quickly rolled to the left when he saw Phantom's sword try to behead him. When she reached a certain point he saw one of the pillars start to crumble.

"YUZU! Go Superheavy Samurai Big Benkei! Hold back that monster!" Gong said summoning a monster and then running after Yuzu. His monster then Charged Phantom protecting Olga who was almost hit. When it blocked the sword Halil ran over and helped Olga up and followed after Gong when they saw the pillar start to fall.

"YUZU!" Gong yelled as he jumped trying to save his friend. When Mieru saw this she covered her eyes, while Michi was speechless as Ruri began to clench his shirt very hard in pain. She uncovered them to see that Gong was holding Yuzu down with the pillar on his back. Yuzu began to scream in pain again as her bracelet started to release a black light. When the light hit Gong he felt a sharp pain in the area it hit but he refused to let go.

"I summon La Jinn the Mystical Genie of the Lamp!" Halil said summoning his monster and told it to grab the pillar. With a nod it went over and grabbed the log and with a devilish smile it threw the pillar at Phantom destroying him. Everyone felt a sense of relief when the monster that was trying to kill them was now gone. Fist bumping each other's hands the two monsters disappeared.

"AHHHHHH!" Yuzu screamed and kneed Gong in his side and when that didn't work she bit him. Moving very quickly Olga grabbed Yuzu's legs while Halil and Gong grabbed her arms. Each of them tried calling her name but she kept screaming in pain. Meiru grabbed Yuzu's bracelet and covered the gems on it hoping that would stop the black light.

"Yuzu calm down! What should we do?!" Gong said, then turned to Meiru for help. She put the bracelet down and then walked over with her crystal apple out.

"We can try and find out what's happening in her soul." Mieru said, looking into her crystal which started to glow.

"You can do that?" Teppei asked, helping Mitch with Ruri who was now biting his shoulder.

"I'm Mieru Houchun. I'm the number 1 fortunetelling duelist in the school. With my powers, there is nothing I can't see." she said as she looked intensely into Yuzu's soul then released a gasp.

"What's wrong?" Gong asked worried with Olga asking what she saw.

"There are two souls inside Yuzu's body beside her own soul." Mieru said and then looked at Ruri who was off Michi's back but still groaning in pain. She put her crystal in Ruri's direction and gasped.

"Half of that girl's soul is inside of Yuzu." She yelled, shocked by this discovery.

"WHAT?" Everyone yelled looking at Yuzu then at Ruri.

"But it looks like the other soul that is inside of Yuzu is protecting them both from something else that is trying to overwhelm them." Meiru said.

"How do we stop this?" Michi asked but Mieru didn't know. It was at that moment that Ruri's bracelet let out a bright light, causing everyone to close their eyes. When they opened them again they saw that Yuzu wasn't screaming anymore and was now just sleeping. Ruri was also sleeping.

"What was that?" Olga asked, looking between both sleeping girls.

"I don't know but it looks like the missing half of her soul (looks at Ruri) is back. The other soul that was in Yuzu seems to have gone dormant.

"You mean it's gone?" Teppei asked but Meiru just shook her head.

"Not gone, just dormant." she said, looking into Yuzu's soul again. Confused about what to do, everyone decided to leave. Yes they needed to talk to Shun but they saw the bridge was no longer safe to walk on so they left hoping that what just happened was a weird illusion they were all having. So they went to the nearest place to rest, which was the Iceberg area. Running back Mieru picked up Yuzu's bracelet and very slowly uncovered it and saw that it was blinking but the light was no longer black but pink. Shaking her head she ran after the others trying to catch up.
