Chapter 40
Control Room
"Sir, the Fuma ninjas are in place ready to defeat the two Academia soldiers." A man said. Reiji watched the screen where The two ninjas had their duel disk ready facing Syrus and Jim with Yuya in the background checking on Dennis.
"Sir, we just received a report of a duelist fighting a girl on a motorbike in the Iceberg Area, now cutting the feed" Another man in the room said as he cut the feed for the Iceberg Area (crowd erupts in anger and Nico is so confused and panicking). Reiji looked at the screen and saw Rin riding off after defeating Makoto Takeda from Ryozanpaku School. He looked at the screen and saw Rin making gestures and probably figured the girl was cursing Makoto out. After making one last gesture she rode off. He turned back to the Volcano Area focusing on the two Academia Soldiers.
"What do you want? You want a Fight?!" Syrus said, activating his duel disk as he glared at the two ninjas but Jim put his arm in front of him, stopping him. When they saw that Jim didn't want to fight they deactivated their duel disks. Checking on the unconscious men on the floor the red ninja turned to everyone saying they should go to another area before the Academia soldiers woke up. Jim grabbed Syrus who began complaining, the blue ninja grabbed Yuya, while the red ninja grabbed Dennis. The two ninjas ran with Jim following them which surprised them since they didn't expect him to keep up with them. They ran till they hit the Jungle Area. The red ninja put Dennis down in an area before catching up with the others saying it's for his safety when Yuya questioned him about leaving Dennis behind. When they reached a clearing Jim and the blue ninja put down their passengers.
"Tsukikage, take care of them. There may be enemies in the area. I'll look around." The red ninja said before disappearing after Tsukikage told him he understood.
"Who are you people?" Yuya asked Syrus and Jim. Syrus just crossed his arms from the scolding he received from Jim about leaving without help.
"They're from the Fusion Dimension's Academia." Tsukikage said when Yuya was ignored.
"Academia? Dimension? What are you talking about?" Yuya asked Tsukikage, then looking at Jim and Syrus who were facing them.
"I could have defeated them without either of your help." Syrus told Jim and Tsukikage. But stopped when Jim bopped him on the head and was told to stop being hostile with Tsukikage turning his back on him as he scanned the area.
"What the hell is going on…" Yuya said to himself and then remembered something.
"Who is Yuri?" He asked, looking at Jim. Jim gave him a confused look but then Yuya reminded him that when they first met they both called him Yuri.
"He's a strong duelist in our world. Although he's never left I believe he could be in the elite…" Syrus said as he remembered watching Yuri's duels and how quick he won, with both the professor and his little pet always there. Then he would disappear to a tower with that girl. Jim put his hand on his shoulder giving him a reassuring squeeze.
"Why are you talking like you come from a different world?" Yuya asked, looking at Syrus.
"Because we are mate. We are from the Fusion Dimension." Jim said.
"Then why are you here?" Yuya asked.
"Tsk, I'm here to prove that the Professor made a mistake when he didn't let me join the front lines." Syrus said as he clenched his hands.
"Syrus…" Jim said, looking at his friend. Yuya then asks them who the Professor is, with Jim saying that the Professor's orders are absolute and no one is allowed to disobey them.
"He sent the Obelisk Force to bring this idiot back while some of us were sent to deal with the Xyz refugees." Jim said, pointing a thumb at Syrus.
"Wait! You mean there are other dimensions besides Fusion?" Yuya asked, remembering when Syrus called Dennis an Xyz's refugee.
"Yes and I left to find them to prove my worth." Syrus said.
"That…That sounds like something a movie would come up with, not real life!" Yuya said not fully understanding what he was hearing.
"It's the truth. Kurosaki's home was destroyed by them and now they're here." Tsukikage said, finally joining the conversation.
"Kurosaki is from another world?! And what do you mean destroyed?!" Yuya yelled in shock, looking at Tsukikage and then at Syrus and Jim.
"The Fusion Dimension invaded the Xyz's Dimension carding everyone they could find." Tsukikage said, shocking Yuya.
"Wh-What do you mean by carding?" Yuya asked, trembling. Taking out one card, Tsukikage showed Yuya the terrified form of Ken Umesugi.
"Wh-what?" Yuya said, taking the card with trembling hands. He told him that it happened in the Volcano Area before the Academia Soldiers found them.
"When they carded him they were laughing at him. Granted his dueling is not honorable but they were worse with five against one. They hunted him down like a lion would hunt down its prey. They would let him run thinking he could survive but then cut him off while laughing." Tsukikage said.
"Ridiculous." Syrus said, shocking Yuya.
"Laughing as if it was a game? Academia duelists wouldn't do such silly things on the battlefield!" Syrus said with Jim nodding behind him since there was now way they would do that, granted he wasn't there at the time but that didn't sound like something honorable warriors would do.
"Are you saying that my brother and I are liars?" Tsukikage said.
"Academia has a noble goal! To unite the worlds into one!" Jim intervenes before Syrus lets his temper get the better of him since he looked like he was about to jump Tsukikage.
"World into one?" Yuya asked.
"That's why we entered the Xyz Dimension. Eventually, we'll absorb Synchro and Standard Dimension to unite the worlds. We have been trained for this noble goal. Those noble warriors wouldn't do what you claimed." Syrus said after finally calming down.
"You plan to invade more dimensions?!" Yuya yelled but Jim just said it was for their noble goal and sacrifices had to be made.
"I don't believe that my comrades would do what he said." Syrus said, pointing at Tsukikage.
"The fact that he lost and was carded is an honor for him since he will help usher in uniting the worlds." Syrus said. Yuya was trembling with anger when he heard everything Syrus and Jim said.
'They don't see a problem with this?! They are invading other worlds! They are…' Yuya thought and for a brief moment he had a dark aura form at his feet but when Tsukikage grabbed his shoulder the dark aura disappeared. He looked at Tsukikage who was still staring at Syrus and Jim.
"Are you telling us that we should accept losing and being carded?" Tsukikaga asked, holding Yuya back.
"If what you say is true…How are you any different from a tyrant committing genocide?" Tsukikage asked, shocking both Jim and Syrus.
"Are you saying we're tyrants?!" Syrus yelled angrily about the comparison Tsukikage just made.
"Everything you said sounds like a tyrant or a terrorist!" Yuya said, trying to reach them. With the way Jim looked down thoughtfully he figured he was thinking about their words but Syrus was another issue.
"How…How dare you call us terrorists! We don't go around killing people!" Syrus yelled
"You're doing the same thing if not worse than a tyrant!" Yuya yelled, cutting Syrus off.
"Wh-What?" Syrus said, stunned.
"You trapped people who may still be alive in cards, which is a fate worse than death! You destroyed an entire world under the pretense of a noble goal!" Yuya said, showing them the card of Ken and for the first time Syrus couldn't refute what Yuya said. He thought about his words, about if they were alive. Where they stuck in pain until they completed their goals. He shivered when the terrified face of Hokuto came to his mind. He tried to not think about it but Hokuto's terrified face just became more clear. He tried to find holes in Yuya's statement but couldn't.
"We-we-" Syrus tried but couldn't find the words.
"If you want to know what your comrades did then I suggest you seek out the Kurosaki's. After all they are the Xyz refugees you're after. They will tell you, well if the brother doesn't card you first." Jim nodded and asked if he knew where they were.
"Shun is in the Ancient Ruins Area while Ruri is in the Iceberg Area. The Ancient Ruins is closer. Just go straight and then turn left it would lead you straight there. But be careful, Shun is dueling one of your comrades." Tsukikage said and with a nod Jim grabbed Syrus and left. Yuya watched them leave and felt anger inside himself.
'Dueling is meant to bring smiles of joy not smiles of monsters who cause pain! Dad, I need your advice…' Yuya thought as he grabbed his pendulum.
Iceberg Area
With the sun already gone, Everyone was watching Yuzu and Ruri making sure they didn't act up again. Groaning Yuzu opened her eyes and when she focused she saw Gong, Olga and Halil looking after her.
"Yuzu! You're awake!" Gong said with relief. She looked around and saw that Ruri was also waking up with Teppei saying no more occult stuff.
"Gong…enzaka? Ol…ga? Ha…lil? What are…you doing…here? And where…am I?" She asked tiredly and with the help of Olga she sat up then looked around to see she wasn't in the Ancient Ruins Area anymore.
"Well we carried you to the Iceberg area after your monster tried to kill us." Meiru said, looking into her crystal ball intently.
"Your…Mieru…" She said but her focus was brought to the plate that Michi put in front of her.
"You both must be hungry. Eat, we have plenty." Michi said, giving her a plate then walking over to Ruri and giving her a plate. With the help of Gong and Olga, Yuzu and Ruri were close to the pot that had a fish stew in it with everyone eating beside them.
"Thanks to my help, you've got food to feed your empty belly. By the way, I went all the way to the ocean to catch the fish that you're eating right now so you could thank me in Pendu-Hey you're not listening to me!." Teppei said, hoping to receive praise and a few new card but everyone was more worried about Ruri and Yuzu, so they ignored him.
"What's the last thing you remember?" Olga asked Yuzu.
"I remember finding Kurosaki in the Ancient Ruins, then seeing Sora." Yuzu said, shocking Gong.
"Are you sure?" He asked. She nodded her head and took a spoon of soup after Michi told her to eat.
"He was with three men wearing uniforms with three colored gems on their helmets," She said.
"Academia…" Ruri said, clenching her spoon as she stared into her bowl with hate.
"Academia? Who's that?" Halil asked. Everyone looked to Ruri for answers.
"Academia are the ones who destroyed my home world." Ruri said.
"World? What are you from a different world? That's ridiculous!" Teppei said jokingly but Ruri told them that she and her brother are from another world.
"WHAT?!" Everyone said besides Yuzu and Mieru who was still looking into her apple.
"We are from the Xyz dimension, but a few months ago Academia invaded without warning. They're world mainly uses Fusion so when they attacked they used Fusion monsters and completely destroyed my home. The damage you saw between Sora and my brother is close to describing it, however imagine that all around the world but ten times worse." Ruri told them. Yuzu looked at her in pity now, understanding why she told Yuya that Fusion didn't fit him (Yuya told her about what Ruri said when She told him Fusion doesn't fit him)
She looked into her bowl and took another spoonful when Halil asked her what that huge monster was that had lights flowing around him. She looked at him confused and then remembered what Mieru said about a monster almost killing them.
"I don't know…" She said, confused. Not understanding Halil told her it was a man in a suit with a cape and wearing a mask. Still looking confused she looked into her deck and didn't see anything that matched what he said and then took out her extra deck to check. She screamed when she saw him and dropped her extra deck on the floor trembling. Panicking, Halil grabbed her cards that were close to the fire and tried to give them back but she screamed again when he approached her with Phantom face-up. She didn't know why but she didn't want that monster anywhere near her.
"Xyz…" Ruri said as she looked at the ground where Phantom was before Halil grabbed him.
"You can use Xyz?" Olga asked now when she looked over Halil's shoulder to see Phantom.
"No! I've never used Xyz before! I only had Fusion monsters!" Yuzu said, panicking.
"Then how about we practice till you can!" Halil said excitedly thinking about dueling Phantom. Yuzu was trembling so bad that you swore she was suffering from hypothermia.
"Yuzu?" Gong asked when he saw her and Michi told Halil to stop when he saw her trembling as well. With an apologetic bow Halil put Yuzu's extra deck back into her duel disk and then put it on her lap saying sorry again before he went back to sitting next to Ruri. Yuzu stared at her disk and images played in her mind. The duel with Academia, the fear they had, the joy she felt when she hurt them, Resha laughing in her ear calling her a murderer. Not wanting to be here anymore, Yuzu ran away when everyone shouted her name in shock. She ran till she reached the area that Teppei said he fished for their dinner.
"Why…Why?" Yuzu said as tears fell down. She brought up her duel disk and very shakingly took Phantom out and with a bit of determination she went to throw him into the sea.
"What are you doing?" a voice said, making Yuzu freeze. She turned around and saw Mieru staring at her.
"I hurt people with this monster! If I don't have him then I won't hurt anyone!" Yuzu said.
"That's ridiculous," Mieru said, shocking Yuzu.
"Do you not remember your tag duel? Bloom Diva blew Masumi off the railing. Halil's monster also caused you to fall off a cliff and then hit Olga. If we use what you just said, shouldn't you and Halil throw Bloom Diva, and Fire Jinn the Flame Genie of the Lamp into the ocean too?" Mieru said.
"You saw my duels?" Yuzu asked surprised and for a moment Mieru felt her cheeks go red.
"Do-do-Don't misunderstand I was only watching darling not you!" Mieru said, flailing her hands.
"Also Bloom Diva didn't hurt Masumi, and Halil's monster didn't mean to throw me off the cliff." Yuzu said.
"And how sure are you that your XYZ monster hurt someone." Mieru countered.
"Didn't you say he tried to kill you?! And didn't you see the three men who were on the floor" Yuzu said, making Mieru look to the side.
"He was probably protecting you. You don't remember you duel right? (Yuzu nods) Maybe something happened in the duel and he thought we were friends to the ones who attacked you so…" Mieru said trailing off but from the look Yuzu was giving her she knew she understood.
"But what if he does hurt someone…Then what? I would rather not have that possibility happen!" Yuzu said as she stared at Phantom. With a sigh Mieru walked over and stood beside Yuzu.
"Did you know that before I joined Umno Divination School many kids were afraid of me." She said, shocking Yuzu who couldn't believe that she was feared.
"I could see the fate of those around me and most of the time, they were not good things. It got to the point that people called me Mieru the disaster, since when I saw your fate it would always bring disaster. I believed that if I tried hard maybe I could change their viewpoints but it just got worse to the point I didn't want to leave my room…" Mieru said and then closed her eyes when she remembered the bullying and fear in other people's eyes when she entered the room.
"Mieru…"
"I thought that maybe if I didn't have this ability maybe I would have friends, and my parents wouldn't be afraid to approach me. That if the possibility of me seeing the future was gone then things would be fine. I really began to suffer from headaches since my ability was stronger than normal, not to mention people around me began to suffer. But then I met my teacher in Umno Divination School and she saved me. She showed me that there was nothing wrong with me and helped my parents by showing them that with proper training I wouldn't be alone and now I have new friends and a darling that I love more than anything!" Mieru said but the last part had Yuzu's eye twitching.
"But back to the topic! Right now you can't control your power so now you want to run and hide in your room. But I think instead of hiding, learn to control your power so that when the time comes you won't be afraid of your power and use it to help mothers like my teacher did for me." Mieru said with a confidant smile and held out her hand. Yuzu thought about her words and looked at Phantom.
'If I have the ability to control it so that I don't hurt anyone then…' Yuzu thought and with a determined look she took Mieru's hand. Both girls smiled at each other and went to meet up with the others.
Halil, Olga, Gong, Michi, and Teppei sat quietly processing everything Ruri told them. The fear that her friends felt while they ran for their lives, the fact that when you lose you were carded, that was a hard one to wrap their minds around but when Ruri carded a rock in front of them they believed her. They listened to the crackling of the fire until Mieru and Yuzu came back.
"YUZU!" Everyone screamed with Gong running up to her asking if she was alright as Halil ran up apologizing about scaring her and should have not had Phantom face-up when she dropped her cards. She told them she was fine and apologized to Halil for her reaction when he was only trying to help. She then walked over to Ruri who was watching her and waiting for her to ask what she already knew but wanted to hear it from her herself.
"Ruri I want you to help me Xyz summon." Yuzu said, looking at Ruri determined.
"I don't mind but are you ready for that since I'm not going to go easy on you since Academia is already invading." Ruri said.
"Yes! I want to be able to protect all that's important to me. If Xyz's helps then I want to use it to protect everyone." Yuzu said. With a smile Ruri took out one of her Xyz monsters and began to explain what the material was and what to do. Everyone was listening to Ruri teach, taking in some more info as Michi made more food and made sure they ate since they barely ate before.

I wanted some bonding time and all Yugioh arc v did for Mieru was make her a love rival, granted she still is but I figured with what's coming soon, Yuzu needed this talk.
