The TARDIS rematerialised again in London.
"What's the plan, Doctor?" Majora asked, following the Doctor on all fours.
"Simple, we go back to that toyshop and confront the Toymaker!" the Doctor said.
"Alright, but, you still haven't told me who's the Toymaker!" Majora said.
"The Celestial Toymaker is not a human. He's an immortal being who wants to have fun to escape his eternal boredom. I'm sure all this stuff is one of his games!" the Doctor said. "We must defeat him before the situation degenerates even further!"
The two arrived at the toyshop, but nobody was there.
"Toymaker!" the Doctor yelled. "I know you're here! Come out, we want to play!"
Suddenly, a wall opened, revealing a secret elevator.
"An elevator…" Majora sniffed around. "I can feel that man's scent coming from there."
"Looks like the Toymaker accepted my challenge. Come along, Majora! We have a game to play!"
The hound girl nodded and the two headed to the elevator, which immediately shut.
As it went down, tension was in the air.
"What…Will the Toymaker do, Doctor?" Majora asked, slightly worried.
"That's a good question. The Toymaker is always unpredictable, you never know what's coming for you." the Doctor said.
"Have you…Fought him before?"
"I've met him twice. Both times he lost, but he never gave up, I'm not a mortal, so every time he wants to capture me so that I can play with him forever."
The elevator reached its destination and the two stepped outside
The room they were in was brown with loads and loads of shelves with toys on them.
"We're in some sort of a storage…" Majora sniffed around. "The Toymaker is not here."
"Looks like this transformation gave you a very developed sense of smell, huh? You're like a dog!" the Doctor commented.
"I…Suppose so." Majora said.
The Doctor investigated around the room. "They seem normal toys…I wonder what the game the Toymaker wants us to play is."
As they kept walking in the room, Majora felt creeped out.
"Something's wrong, Majora?" the Doctor asked.
"These dolls…They're creepy. I feel like they're observing me…" Majora said.
"It's just your imagination. They're just toys, they aren't alive or anything!"
The toys turned towards the duo, creepily smiling.
"I stand corrected." the Doctor said.
The toys started falling from the shelves and chasing the two.
"RUN!" the Doctor said.
The two ran away from the toys.
"What should we do, Doctor?!" Majora said.
"Quiet! Let me think of something!" the Doctor said. "Think, Doctor, think…"
He noticed a piece of paper and took it. On it, there was a message, reciting:
"If you want to get away, rotate the world 5 times, and the exit will manifest."
"Rotate the world 5 times…" the Doctor repeated. "Perhaps…I've got it!"
"Got what? I'm tired of running around in circles!"
"Good! Keep going!" the Doctor said. "We have to run around in a circle 5 times!"
They did it until the toys suddenly stopped moving and fell to the ground.
"It…Worked…" Majora said.
Then, a door materialised.
"There's the exit! Come along, Majora!" the Doctor said.
The two went to the door, ready to face the next challenge.
The second room was nearly empty, with a second hint at the centre of the room.
"There's the Toymaker's scent in this room…" Majora said.
"We're getting closer to him, then." the Doctor scanned the area with his sonic screwdriver once again. "There must be a switch somewhere…"
Majora picked up the hint.
"The solution of this puzzle is hidden in plain sight." She read. "A bit vague." She headed towards a wall. "I wonder where it IIII-"
Majora accidentally pressed a hidden button, opening a trapdoor.
The Doctor rushed to her rescue. "Majora! Are you okay?!"
"Yeah…I'm fine." She reassured her friend. She sniffed around. "Hey, Doctor…I think I found the exit."
"You did?"
"Yeah! The Toymaker's scent is stronger here." Majora said.
"Hold on, I'm coming! GERONIMOOOOO!" the Doctor jumped in the trapdoor and Majora managed to break his fall.
"Are you okay?" Majora asked.
"Yeah, thanks." the Doctor said "Heh, you're pretty fluffy, you know that?"
Majora blushed profusely. "L-Let's go." she walked away.
The Doctor giggled. "Alright! Alright! Lead the way, Majora!"
The two explored the tunnel, with Majora leading the way.
Eventually, the two arrived at the end of the tunnel.
"Looks! There's a ladder over there!" the Doctor said.
"I wonder where they lead to," Majora commented.
"Let's find out, shall we?" the Doctor started climbing the ladder, followed by the anthropomorphic hound.
On the other side, they arrived in another room with a desk full of tools.
"We must be in the workshop." the Doctor said.
"You guessed right, Doctor." a familiar voice spoke: It was the Toymaker.
"Toymaker!" the Doctor said.
"I see you're in good shape, so energetic and young, you even ditched that distasteful coat." the Toymaker commented. "And I noticed you have a canine companion too."
"I-I'm not a dog!" Majora objected. "H-Hold on, you know I'm not a human?"
"Indeed I can. Cheap tricks such as Perception Filters don't work inside my realm." the Toymaker said.
"What's your plan now, Toymaker?! What is that microchip for?!" the Doctor demanded an explanation.
"Oh, it's pretty simple. You see, this microchip has the particular ability of mind control. I've calibrated it to affect the brain waves of human children so that when I activated the transmission, they would become bloodthirsty machines." the Toymaker calmly explained.
"Okay, but…Why children? And why were they so strong?" Majora asked.
"Well, my furry fellow, I simply gave them a…Little advantage, just to spice things up." the Toymaker.
"Well, sorry to spoil your fun but, the game is over, Toymaker!" the Doctor said.
"Well Doctor, I am willing to stop this…But at one condition." the Toymaker grinned.
"I don't like that tone…" the Doctor sighed. "Fine, what game do we have to play?"
"It's a simple one: You only need to find an exit to this maze and reunite with your friend. If you win, I will deactivate the microchip. Now, off you go!"
The Toymaker clapped his hands and a trap door opened under their feet.
"Have fun!" the Toymaker laughed as the Doctor and Majora fell into the trap.
The Doctor regained consciousness.
He looked around to find out where it was. He was in a barely lit maze.
"Right…The Toymaker's game…" He stood up. "Majora? Where are you?"
No answer.
"She's probably far away from me." the Doctor thought. "Well then, let's explore this maze."
He started walking away, hoping to find Majora as soon as possible.
However, the more he changed directions, the more the maze seemed constantly changing, as if it was mocking him.
"If the maze keeps changing, it'll be impossible to find her!" the Doctor said. "Okay, calm down and reason: What can I do to find Majora?" he looked at his sonic screwdriver. "Perhaps…I can find her with the sonic if I look for her vitals!" The Doctor calibrated it and went to the rescue.
Meanwhile, Majora woke up.
"Doctor…?" She tried to call her friend, but nobody answered. "Where is he?!"
The hound calmed down and started sniffing around to locate the Doctor. "I think he's somewhere in the West, it's better if I first find him, then we'll find an exit." she thought.
Thus, Majora rushed towards West to find the Doctor.
…But, her run was soon stopped when she found that she wasn't alone in the maze.
She immediately hid behind one of the bush-made walls and tried to see who was following her.
It was…A clown on a unicycle, who was juggling.
"Huh…It's just a clown." Majora sighed in relief. "Hold on…It might be something orchestrated by the Toymaker, he looks like the type of guy that would make traps like this. I have to take him down…"
Then, she heard an explosion that startled her.
"What the hell was that?!" She looked around and saw the cause of the explosion…It was the clown. He was juggling normally…He was juggling with bombs.
"Where did those bombs come from?!" Majora panicked. "I have to take him down before he kills me!"
However, just before she went into action, Majora noticed something that horrified her.
She was drooling, as if…She couldn't wait to attack the clown.
"Why…Am I drooling?" She thought, as she quickly wiped it off. "Enough of this! I have to find the Doctor, he might be in danger!"
The more she thought about saving the Doctor, the more this…Bloodlust became stronger.
And so, the instant the clown became closer, Majora struck, making a monstrous growl.
Meanwhile, the Doctor was still looking for Majora.
"Majora! Majora! Where are you?!" the Doctor kept yelling until he stepped on something wet…And crimson.
"Blood…" he thought. "It's still fresh, it must have happened recently. I hope it's not Majora's…"
As he followed the trace of blood, he found the remains of someone wearing a clown costume: An arm, a leg, a hat…
"Majora?" the Doctor kept calling his friend.
"...Doctor?" Majora spoke feebly.
He followed her voice and finally found her huddled near the other remains of the man, with her dress and paws all drenched in blood.
He would have been horrified at a sight like this normally, but this time the Doctor was more worried about Majora's well-being than the corpse.
He held her paw and talked to her with a soothing tone. "Hey."
Majora gave him a bear hug and trembled. "I'm…I'm sorry…"
"It's okay, it's all okay now…" the Doctor caressed her cheek. "What happened?"
"I-I don't know! I was getting for you, and the more I thought about it the more I…It's like I went berserk or something…" Majora was a blubbering mess.
The Doctor kept composure and gently cleaned the blood from her face and paws with a handkerchief. "It's okay, don't worry. Now then, let's defeat the Toymaker and return to the TARDIS, okay?"
Majora nodded. She then noticed something behind the bushes.
"What is it?" the Doctor turned and saw a hidden camera. "Oh…" He quickly deactivated it with his sonic screwdriver. "Looks like the Toymaker is observing us."
"Did you have any luck
Majora shook her head. "What should we do?"
The Doctor smirked. "I think I have a plan. Do you see these walls? Do you think you can reach the top?"
"I don't know…Maybe?" Majora said.
"If you managed to make a bloodshed like that, maybe you have super strength! Try concentrating and jump!"
Majora nodded, followed the Doctor's instruction and…Voilà! She reached the top of the maze. "Wow…"
"You did it!" the Doctor jumped in joy. "Now, come pick me up!"
Majora went down, took the Doctor in her hands and jumped again to the top of the maze.
"I can see the exit!" Majora thought. She jumped from side to side until the two reached the centre.
"Finally…" She sighed, as she let go of the Doctor. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah…I'm just a bit dizzy…" the Doctor said. "Anyway, let's get out of here!"
The two entered the mysterious door before them and returned to the workshop.
There, the Toymaker was waiting for them.
"Congratulations!" He clapped his hands enthusiastically. "You've won the game! I did enjoy how that clown got brutally murdered!"
Majora glanced away in shame.
"Quiet, Toymaker." the Doctor said. "Now, we honoured our promise, it's time for you to do the same."
"I haven't forgotten about it, Doctor." the Toymaker smiled. "As you know, I like following the game rules."
"Yeah, and I'm the Lord President of Gallifrey." the Doctor said sarcastically. "Deactivate the microchip!"
The Toymaker pressed the same red button from before and all over the world, children returned to normal.
"Did it work?" Majora asked.
"How about you see it by yourself?" the Toymaker snapped his fingers and a large TV appeared, showing what was happening outside, with children hugging their parents while bursting into tears and UNIT doing some damage control.
"As you can see, I kept my promise. The exit is behind you, Doctor."
The Doctor was puzzled. "You're…Letting us go? No tricks or stuff like that?"
"Correct."
"Where's the trick? I don't buy it!"
"There is no trick, Doctor, you won my game." the Toymaker said.
"It's unusual of you to act this nice." the Doctor glared at him.
"Well, it's Christmas, after all." the Toymaker chuckled. "I thought it would be fine to act nice for once. Merry Christmas, Doctor."
The Doctor and Majora looked at each other with a confused look and then headed to the exit.
Outside, it started snowing.
"Wow!" the Doctor was distracted by it.
Majora, on the other hand, looked around the town, trying to cover the bloodstains on her dress.
The child-looking Time Lord noticed her discomfort and smiled. "Let's get back to the TARDIS, okay?"
Majora softly smiled and nodded.
Back in the TARDIS, Majora took off her Perception Filter choker.
"Well, Majora! What do you think about your first adventure?" the Doctor asked, thrilled with anticipation.
"It was…Fun." Majora smiled. "Yes, it was fun."
"Yaaay!" the Doctor jumped in joy. His cuteness made Majora's heart squeeze. "Now, go get changed! You surely don't want to celebrate Christmas drenched in blood, do you?"
"Okay." Majora went to her room.
The moment she left the console room, the Doctor mischievously grinned and pulled out of his pocket a wrapped present.
Majora returned, wearing the same "embarrassing" dress the Doctor gave her before.
"Say, Doctor…" She said as she noticed all the Christmas decorations and the tree around the room. "When did you put all those?"
"Who knows…Who nose!" the Doctor chuckled, touching his nose. "I see you put on the dress from before! Even the hat!"
"Well, I-I think I exaggerated a bit…" Majora glanced away. "It's not exactly my style…But I kind of like it."
"Splendid! You look amazing!" the Doctor said. "Now, close your eyes."
"Huh? Why?"
"Just do it, trust me!"
Majora closed her eyes, wondering what the Doctor wanted.
The Doctor put in her paw the present. "You can open them now!"
Majora opened her eyes and noticed the present. "It's…Is it for me?"
The Doctor nodded. "Open it!"
Majora opened it and looked at the gift. They were silver earrings, in the shape of a question mark and with rubies set.
"I've worked hard to make them, I hope you lik-"
Majora gave the Doctor a bear hug.
"I love it." Majora began to tear up. "T-Thank you…" She smiled.
The Doctor blushed a bit at the hound's smile. "Merry Christmas, Majora."
"Merry Christmas, Doctor…"
And incidentally…
A Happy Christmas and a New Year to all of you at home!
