*Trumpet of the Swan movie. Post-movie. Inspired by the ending scene of the cygnets hatching, with Louie and Serena watching over them.

-December 6, 2003-

Louie nuzzled Serena happily as their little cygnets tried out their feet and voices, and Serena smiled, "I know...I'm so proud of them too...They're perfect...".

Louie nodded slightly before hearing rock crumbling in the near distance, and looked over to see Sam, his best human friend climbing down his favorite boulder, and Louie smiled before an idea came to him, and he grabbed his horn and his chalkboard.

"What's the excitement, Louie?", Serena asked, and Louie tugged her wing, nuzzling his cygnets before motioning at Sam with his chalkboard, and Serena blinked, "Oh, he understands that thing, and he could help with the names for them?".

Louie nodded eagerly, and Serena smiled, "Okay, let's have them do their first swim, and you lead the way, Louie.", and Louie smiled, kissing his mate on the cheek, nuzzling her before waddling over to the lake, swimming around, looking at his cygnets who blinked in confusion as Serena nudged them, "It's okay, darlings, Daddy wants you to follow him. Come.", walking on, and the cygnets followed her.

The cygnets understood almost immediately when they first swam, learning from their mother, and Louie then tooted his horn, calling them over, and the cygnets followed their father, curious and surprised to hear unique sounds from him, as Serena took up the back, smiling.

Louie kept blowing his horn, musically and such as he led them, and as Sam was starting to pack up his backpack again, he heard the familiar horn of Louie, and he looked up to see Louie leading his family towards him, and he smiled widely, "Louie!".

Louie tooted happily as he led his family into the ground, waddling to Louie, as Serena stood closely to their children, still a bit wary, but trusting her mate. Sam hugged Louie, "Hey, Louie, congratulations! Your girl's really pretty, and your kids, wow! 8 of them!".

Louie went to write on his chalkboard, and Sam read out loud, "Serena's your mate?", and Serena perked her head, hearing her name from a human, and Sam smiled, bowing, "Nice to meet you, Serena. I'm Sam, Louie's human best friend. Louie says that he loves you.".

Serena gasps and looks at Louie who smiles bashfully, nodding, and Serena sobbed softly, "Oh, Louie, I love you too! Oh, the children? He can voice out names?", and Louie nodded.

Serena nudged the girls, "Go on, girls. Walk forward.", and the girl cygnets walk forward, and Louie wrote on his chalkboard, and Sam read, "Oh, the first four are girls! Oh, okay, you want the eldest daughter to be named Crystal?", and the oldest girl stepped forward, as Serena smiled tearfully.

Louie smiled, wrote again, "Crystal's next sister is to be named by Serena?", as Sam read it out loud, and Serena smiled happily, "Abby!", and Louie wrote again, as Sam smiled, "Ah, Abby is a good name!", as the second eldest girl stepped forward.

Serena sobbed happily, as Louie wrote again, as Sam read it out loud, "What is Mrs. Hammerbotham's first name?", and Sam blinked in surprise, "Let me think a bit...I know it was Carol.", and Louie smiled, writing again.

"You want the third eldest girl to be named Carol.", Sam read, and Serena smiled, "That's perfect!", as the third girl cygnet stepped forward. Louie then wrote again, and Sam read before gasping, "Really?! You want me to name your last daughter?".

The last girl cygnet blinked and went to pull Sam's shoelaces, and Sam laughed heartily, "She's like you! Say, Louie, how about Lily, since your lake got water lilies and all?".

Serena gasped, "That's brilliant, yes!", and Louie smiled, writing again, and Sam smiled warmly, "You're welcome. So, that's Crystal, Abby, Carol, and Lily for the girls. Now for the boys.", with a nod.

Louie looked at Serena with a smile who understood happily, "Jeremy for our eldest boy!", and Louie wrote again, and Sam read, "Jeremy, huh?", as the first boy stepped forward, "Pretty good.", as Louie wrote again, and Sam looked, "Okay, you want to name your second eldest boy Nick.".

Serena smiled, "That's a good name, Louie!", and Louie smiled, writing again, and Sam read, "What's A.G.'s real name? Don't tell anybody, okay? He's really sensitive about it.", and Louie crossed his wing over his heart, and Sam smiled, "Alright, then. It's Albert.".

Louie seemed to think a bit before he wrote again, and Sam read out loud, "Art? Yeah, I suppose that would work without too much overthinking, if you want that for your third boy.", and Louie glanced at Serena who nodded with a smile, glancing at Sam.

Louie then smiled, writing again, and Sam looked before gasping, "Really?! You want to name your last boy after me?", and Louie nodded, writing again, and Sam chuckled, reading, "Oh, yeah. Well, there's two fuller versions of Sam; Samuel and Samson.".

Serena smiled, "Samson! His name shall be Samson.", nuzzling their last son, and Louie smiled, writing again, and Sam chuckled, "Samson. That's actually perfect as he looks like you, Louie.".

"Alright, that's it for the boys. Jeremy, Nick, Art, and Samson.", Sam smiled warmly, and Louie hugged him happily, and Sam laughed, "Aw, shucks, thanks, Louie. It's no problem, really!".

Serena then saw the cygnets yawning and cheeping softly, and Serena smiled, "They're getting tired. It's time for their naps, Louie.", before she walked forward and gently nuzzled Sam on the cheek.

Louie wrote, and Sam smiled, "Oh, yeah, that's fair. They sure look tired. And I better get going too. I'll visit tomorrow, okay? And Serena, you're welcome.", and Serena replied, "Tell him that he's a miracle boy for being such a wonderful friend for you, and he's an honorary swan.".

Louie nodded, and wrote, and Sam read, and he smiled so brightly, "Oh, wow! Aww, Serena, that means a lot! I really appreciate that, and I would never regret being friends with Louie as he's amazing and a great listener.".

Louie blushed bashfully, and Serena chuckled, nuzzling her mate, and then called her children, "Come, children, let's head back to the nest so you can sleep.", and went back to the lake, swimming with the children following her to the nest.

Sam smiled, "I'm really happy for you, Louie, bud. You've really come a long way since you were a little guy.", and Louie smiled, and went to play a note on his horn, waving to Sam as he went to follow his family home. Louie kept playing low and slow, playing a lullaby as Sam walked back to his parents' camp, smiling, glad that he got a weekend visitation.

He wondered if swans are welcome in the heavens, and maybe Louie could actually have a voice up there, and if he does, Sam bets that Louie really has a lot to tell him; a heap of stories and all, since angels can understand other angels without a barrier, or at least that's what he heard about.

At least that'd be an adventure, but for now, he's just glad to live life, and have friends to know and love, like Louie the trumpeter swan who actually plays the trumpet and write.
