The Chamber of Secrets
Chapter 2 - Off to Hogwarts
The days passed after the trip to Diagon Alley, Terra had her hands full with Susie, she would shake uncontrollable whenever she sees a wand even if it is laying on a surface, so Terra had to treat the Niffler's injuries by the potions, healing creams and bandages, a slow progress but it is building between her and Terra. She slowly introduced Susie to Lulu and Puke gaining a bond with especially Puke who would bring small shiny tokens from his den to help her feel more at home, the three Scamander finding it incredibly cute.
August 14th arrived, Terra's Birthday, now 12 years old, she woke with Lulu tapping on her cheek, she smiled at the Bowtruckle, once decent and dressed she made her way down stairs where Oliver and Rolf greeted her with her breakfast and saying, 'happy birthday'. Not long after cleaning plates, three owls appeared delivering letters, one of them being Hedwig carrying two, judging that Errol the Weasley family Owl was still tried from its last flight, she open the cards, one from Harry, the Weasley children, Hermione and Hagrid all wishes her a great day.
And once again not long after the Owl delivery, Newt, Tina, Queenie, Jacob, Theseus and Bunty arrived by Floo powder, after taking care of the creatures, the most of the group made their way to the private beach not far from the cottage, the day was perfect, the sun was shiny, the waves where calm, wearing swimsuits the kids entered the sea swimming as the day grew hotter. They were called back when Jacob and Queenie brought back a picnic basket to have dinner on the beach, when the sun was starting to set they head back to the cottage, where once they enter started to see sing 'Happy Birthday' will bring in a birthday cake Jacob and Queenie bake earlier. After Terra blew out the candles everyone enjoyed the cake, then is came to presents, Oliver gave her a braided cord bracelet that belonged to her mother, telling her he gave her this when they first started dating, then she gave him one for him on their first anniversary of courting.

Rolf gave her a box of Butterbeer fudge, Theseus a wand holster just like her did for Rolf when he turned 12 years of age, Bunty got her new pair of gloves for caring her creatures, Jacob and Queenie together got her muggle story books, and las was Newt and Tina.
"Now Terra before you open your gift first read this," Tina said handing her a letter with a smile.
Confused she looked at her grandfather and father, they were smiling, so she opened the letter and began to read.
Dear Miss T Scamander,
Due to the circumstances of your Father helping with Newt Scamander at the Thunderbird Sanctuary in Arizona, with authorisation from your Father and Headmaster of Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore, you have permission to bring magical Creatures under your care to Hogwarts School this year.

Terra looked at her Father and Grandparents, then back at the letter, then back at them, she was speechless. Then Newt brought out his case, opens it, used his wand to bring something out, Terra gasped, a smile spread wide, it was a case just like Newt's, she recalled the tale on how the suitcase was copied to protect a baby Qilin.
"I chatted with Albus, and it is all set," Newt explained. He thought seeing how some of your creatures could release into the highlands, and if you have any questions just ask the Headmaster."
He had the case to his granddaughter, she took it carefully as if it was made of glass, and hug it to her chest, she always loved her Grandfather's suitcase ever since she first stepped inside it seeing the creatures within.
"Thank you Granddad and Grandma," she said, after putting the case down to hug them both. "But what about Rolf's Creatures?"
"They are going to Hogwarts too, but they are to be part of Professor Kettleburn's Class," Oliver explained. "Some kind of extra credit Dumbledore came up with for Rolf."
"Brilliant."
Newt and Oliver began to show what is inside her suitcase, from the shed working space to each of the paddocks for her creatures, she was so happy, best birthday ever.
With September coming closer, the cottage was getting busier by the day, Oliver was getting the last of his paper work for the US done, Newt and Bunty helped move Rolf's Creatures to Hogwarts, it took most of the morning seeing Rolf did not have many Creatures, while Terra was packing everything and anything into her case, and making sure the new home for the creatures are comfortable once placed inside. The only creatures that have yet to go in are her Nifflers and Lulu, she was going to put them in on the morning for when they go to Kings Cross Station not to cause too much stress for them.
The first September finally came, all three Scamanders got up early, quickly had breakfast and began to leave, Bunty arrived by Floo powder, she is to be looking after Oliver's creatures seeing the job will be taking most of his time. Terra feed her creatures and put Puke and Susie in, Lulu was being fussy not wanting to go in, and not in the mood to argue with the Bowtruckle she told her to stay in her pocket and not poke out till she says so.
The kids gathered they school trucks, bag, suitcase and cages with their pets they where ready to head out, Oliver thanked Bunty and says he shouldn't be gone long as they used the Floo powder to get Kings Cross. Making they way though the crowd in the station and when it was clear they ran into the barrier to Platform 9 ¾, Rolf going first followed by Terra and Oliver, the time was 10:27am.
"Right," Oliver said facing his children. "Now I know this year is going to be different, but I'll write to you two, send photo too, and you'll be spending Christmas at Hogwarts, don't worry Terra you'll love it."
Rolf had stayed at Christmas in his second year wanting to spend the time with his friends that where staying for the holidays, she remembers that two of her friends Harry and Ron stayed at school last year. They put their trucks in the carriage, giving Arch an owl treat before getting out, the two hugged their Father tightly, it'll be sometime before they will meet in person again, it had been ages since Oliver had been away with work, it was before Rolf entered Hogwarts and they stayed with Newt and Tina for two solid months. Oliver ruffled Rolf's hair and then kissed Terra's forehead.
"Don't forget to write if you need anything," Oliver said. "Enjoy your time."
"Say 'Hi' to Frank for us," Rolf replied, as they waved bye to Oliver, disappearing into the crowd.
Once Oliver was out of sight, Rolf's friends called out to him, they greeted the Scamanders, and they made their way inside the train, Terra kept her case with her, she was told to keep a close eye on it, better to have it on hand instead of with the other luggage where there could be a chance that the case would open on the journey. When Rolf and his friends found an empty cartridge, Hermoine called out to Terra, and she makes her way to her friend after saying 'see ya at Hogwarts' to her brother.
The two sat and began to talk well mostly Hermione did most of the talking, when the time was getting close to 11 when the train leaves the station, they saw people with flaming red hair hurry into the train, Terra and Hermione looked out their compartment soon spotting the Twins Fred and George with their little sister Ginny walking down the narrow corridor, trying to catch their breathes, their cheeks as red as their hair, Hermione called out to them, saying there's room where they are seating. The girls watched as the redheads collapse onto the seats, they train began to move, they were off.
"Phew," said Fred, wiping the sweat of his forehead. "Made it."
"What happened to you three?" Hermione asked.
"We were running late," replied George. "It was a nightmare, we kept on going back to the house some of us forgotten somethings, then dad tried to convince mum to use the flying car to get here quicker but mum was having none of it."
If Terra heard of everything, a flying car was a first for her, but put that thought was pushed in the back of her head, she was wondering where Ron and Harry was?
"Where's Harry and Ron?" she asked them.
"Don't know they were right behind us," Fred answered.
"Properly in another compartment," George said.
When they made it to the open countryside the trolley lady came around, and Terra gave the twins, Ginny and Hermoine what they wanted on the cart, she still had some butterbeer fudge from her birthday she retrieved from her suitcase in her muggle worthy section. At one point terra spotted Hermione reading one of Lockhart's books, making her roll her eyes, she thought that Hermoine would have been more smart to know the what Lockhart wrote was complete troll dung. Terra did read the books, but it was hours that she had wasted wished she could take it back, she would have talked about Lockhart books, but her attention was taking to outside, looking up in the clouds to see… a flying car? She blinked and it was gone, it most have been a trick of the light.
The rest of the train ride went smoothly, arrive at Hogsmeade Station, Terra, Hermione and the Weasleys have changed into their robes long ago Terra grabbed her suitcase and made her way out of the Hogwarts Express, Hagrid called out to the first years, Ginny head her way after Hermione told her she is to be going across the lake, Fred and George lead the two girls to black horseless carriages. But Terra did not see horseless carriages, they was something pulling them, a black skeletal horse, a reptile like head, with leathery bat like wings on it's side resting against its skin and bony frame, she knows what this creature is and is surprised to find them at Hogwarts.
"Thestrals," Terra said under her breathe.
At that moment the Thestral she was looking at, turned its head at her direction, Terra stared into its milky eyes, she knows it was not blind, she smiled at it, other people would call them a bad omen, but she and her family do not believe it, they are shy but gentle creatures.
"Terra come on," Hermoine called out from the carriage.
She hurried inside and sat down next to the Gryffindor girl.
"What where you looking at Terra?" she asked.
"Nothing," Terra lied, she didn't want Hermione to know she could see the Thestrals, at least not at this moment. "Just wondering where Harry and Ron are?"
Once they finally made it inside the castle, all students sat et their respected House tables, Terra sat next to Rolf, keeping the case in between Terra's left leg and Rolf's right leg, they watched the Sorting Hat Ceremony, she noticed a girl with long blonde hair with a dreamy expression she was sorted into Ravenclaw, and when Ginny was Sorted into Gryffindor, Dumbledore announced the feast to begin. While digging into her Shepard's Pie she spoke to Rolf about not telling her about the Thestrals.
"I didn't know how you would react," Rolf said. "the last time you saw one was 9, and you just stared at it."
"Is there a herd?"
"I think so, I never really asked Professor Kettleburn I think Hagrid will know, I spotted a few near the Forest in my third year, but they are shy creatures Little Bow."
"I know," she said turning back to her meal.
With full bellies, the Headmaster called it a night, and the made their way to the dormitories, once in the Hufflepuff Common Room, the Scamander siblings said goodnight and headed to the rooms. Terra meet with her fellow second year Hufflepuff girls, they where talking about Lockhart, Terra did not talk part in the conversation not wanting to bring up her tea, so she changed into her PJ's and went to bed.
It was not till after midnight when her dormmates where finally asleep, Terra quietly got out of bed, checked to see if Lulu was still in her robes, the Bowtruckle is asleep too, she get her suitcase from under her bed and silently tiptoed to the restroom, locking one of the cubicles, placing the toilet seat down to lay her case on top, opens it and steps inside closing the lid of her case behind her.
