Chapter one:

"DEE!" Mikey screams as he reaches for his brother only for the entrance to the tunnel to collapse.

Donnie doesn't have time to even try to get out before the collapse happens.

Mikey falls to his hands and knees sobbing, while the other two are staring at the completely collapsed entrance of a tunnel they found. They all believe that Donnie must have been crushed by the collapse.

No way could Donnie have survived if he was crushed under all that.

"DONNIE!" Mikey screams raising his head to stare tearfully at the collapsed entrance. Desperately hoping for a response though none comes. He fully collapses sobbing loudly. He wants his brother back.

Leo drops his head with tears in his eyes. He is quickly hugged by his boyfriend Raph. He clings to him in return as he more quietly cries.

Raph tries to hide that he's crying as well. He does try calling Donnies cell only to get the message that it isn't able to go through. He clenches his teeth knowing that it must have been crushed with him.

Donnie always makes sure his phone doesn't die, and has a good charge before leaving the lair.

After grieving for a little bit Mikey is helped up and they leave to head home, as there isn't really anything they can do.

First Splinter passed away due to an illness and now they lose Donnie like this.

In the tunnel...

Donnie blinks his eyes open having been knocked out for a little bit. He turns his head to glance where he sees the collapse.

There's too many large rocks for him to be able to dig his way out.

Donnie huffs turning his head away from that. He guesses that his brothers might think that he is dead. He finds that the tunnel is rather dimly lit by some sunshine seeping through a small crack.

A crack in the mess of the collapse that wouldn't even be able to help in escape. Even if it was used as a starting point to dig.

Donnie can only see so far deep down the tunnel as there is a lot of darkness. He is giving his body a moment to rest. He blinks when he sees movement in the darkness. He raises his head when a box turtle mutant emerges from the darkness.

The turtle is completely naked with no sort of clothing not even a mask or anything. He is actually kind of cute. He stops just in the light and blinks tilting his head at Donnie.

Donnie sits up and isn't fully sure what to make of this turtle. He glances to the collapsed way out, not sure if the other speaks english. He turns back to the other who moves closer to look at the collapse. He can see cute spots on the others body and tries to stop anymore thoughts. He just keeps finding cute things about the other. He isn't dating anyone so it wouldn't matter though he hardly knows this turtle.

The turtle turns to him and gestures towards the way deeper into the tunnel. "We can try to find another way out." He offers slightly surprising Donnie.

"You do speak english." Donnie gets to his feet as the other turtle nods his head. He looks for his cell only to realize he must have lost it when he was knocked back. He almost groans remembering he was holding it just before the collapse. He figures it must have been crushed by the collapse. "How do we navigate the darkness?" He inquires the other who smiles at him.

The other turtle closes his eyes in concentration before his spots start to glow. He opens his eyes once getting the spots to glow.

"H-How?" Donnie gasps in amazement at this.

"I have magic!" The turtle informs him. "I don't know the tunnels all that well. But we can try to find a way out together." He offers and Donnie nods his head.

The two set off together with the glow from the box turtle lighting up the area around them.

It's not like a flashlight as they can only see so far ahead of them, but it's better than no light at all.

"So why are you in the tunnels?" Donnie questions causing the turtle to glance to him. "Who are you and where did you come from?"

"I tell you then you can tell me about you." The turtle offers with a shine in his eyes and Donnie nods in agreement. "Okay. So me and my brothers live as more wild mutants. We try to stay away from humans but we did pick up on their language. We also sometimes travel to be in areas outside of various cities. To help stay away from humans by not staying in one spot. We all have magic though our magic is different for each of us. Plus one of my brothers thinks that we haven't unlocked all that we can do yet. Oh and you can call me Angie. We were looking for food when I decided to try these tunnels. It collapsed with me inside and my brothers couldn't get in." He looks down to which Donnie realizes they kind of understand each others situations. "I've been in here for only what feels like maybe two days. I'm not really sure." He shakes his head before turning to Donnie. "Okay. You."

Donnie nods his head. "I'm Donatello. But call me Donnie. I also have brothers. We live in the city. I was checking out something in here when it suddenly collapsed. Separating me from them too." He pauses as the other hugs him.

"I'm so sorry! We'll find a way out and you can return to them!" Angie tells him and Donnie gives him an appreciative smile.

"And when we get out of here I'll help you find your family." Donnie pats Angie on his head who looks thankful before letting go of him.

The two continue walking looking around as they try to figure out a way out. They pause as there are three different ways to go up ahead. They glance down one way and down the other then down the third way. Neither are really sure which way they're supposed to go.

Donnie wets his finger, in his mouth, and holds it in front of each way to see if there's a draft. He knows that might help tell them which direction to go, since a draft has to come from somewhere. He finds that there is only the slightest hint coming from the middle tunnel. He gestures for Angie to come so the two head down that tunnel. He tries to see if he can figure out where that hint of a breeze is coming from. He makes sure to not go too fast so Angie can keep up. He's been following it for a bit when he finds the ground is suddenly gone. He hadn't been paying attention and he falls over an edge. He quickly turns his body grabbing onto the edge.

"Donnie!" Angie gasps rushing forward and grabbing onto Donnies arms. He helps to pull the other turtle back to safety where they take a quick breather.

Donnie looks over his shoulder to see that there is no way to continue unless they can fly.

There is a deep and wide gap between them and the other side where the tunnel continues. They can't even use the walls to jump across as it has opened to a large cavern.

"Guess we're not going that way." Donnie mentions before thinking of something. He turns to Angie. "Do you need to rest? Does your magic have limits?"

"It does. But I'm okay right now. I can keep going for a bit longer." Angie assures Donnie who nods his head to this. He looks to the gap. "What do we do now?" He inquires and Donnie turns to where they came from.

"We'll have to try to find another way out." Donnie tells Angie so they head back the way they came. He tries another tunnel with Angie staying close to him.

This tunnel leads them to a water pond with a source of light that can't be seen, though the light is dim so it's just enough to light up the pond area.

"Lets have a break." Donnie suggests so the two settle down at the ponds edge.

Angie lets his glow fade for now and he checks the water. He tries a sip and seems to think it over as if searching for anything bad. "This water should be safe." He tells Donnie glancing to him. "It's actually pretty clean compared to some of the water sources under the sky." He turns back to drink some more.

Donnie decides to join him trusting his judgment on this. He also drinks finding that it does have a bit of an earthy taste though otherwise seems fine. He feels glad for the water not having realized how thirsty he was. Once he's finished drinking he turns to Angie who also finishes. "If you don't mind me asking how do you replenish your magic?" He inquires causing Angie to turn to him.

"Oh. That's simple. Sleep and not using it." Angie informs Donnie. "If we use too much we can get feverish and a little sick. But we all figured out our limits while learning a bit about our magic." He informs him. "So I'll let you know before I reach that point."

"Good." Donnie sighs in relief to hear this. "I don't want you pushing yourself to the point you fall sick. It wouldn't be pleasant for you and I'd hate to see you like that."

"Awww. You're so sweet!" Angie grins at him and he can't help but smile back.

Donnie wonders what this weird feeling in his chest is. He thinks that it's kind of similar to what he used to feel around April, before her and Casey came out as dating, yet it's different at the same time. He'll have to look into it later at a better time.

"Donnie?" Angie's voice brings Donnie out of his brief thinking. "Can you tell me more about your life where you live?"

"Sure." Donnie agrees to this smiling to the other. "I have a whole lab where I create all sorts of things. We also have this one night a week where we all watch a movie together." He notices Angie tilt his head at the word movie. "Oh. A movie is basically a thing that you can watch on human technology. I could show you when we get out of here." He tries to explain remembering that Angie doesn't really know human technology. "If you want that is."

"I'd like that. Maybe I can visit after I check in with my family." Angie suggests which Donnie nods his head to. "You can show me so much about your life! You can also visit me and I can show you about how I live!"

"I'd like that." Donnie agrees feeling a small flutter in his heart at the thought of them visiting. He wants it to happen. He wants to spend more time with Angie.

Angie looks happy to hear that as he grins at Donnie. He glances around after that. "Should we get going?"

"Are you okay to keep going?" Donnie inquires causing Angie to turn to him.

Angie nods his head to assure Donnie that he can. "I can go for a bit longer. Glowing doesn't use up as much as other things do."

"Okay." Donnie agrees so they get up and continue on their way.

The two walk through the tunnels for a bit in silence trying to figure out where to go. They have been walking for awhile when they slow to a stop in an area.

"Donnie."

Donnie turns to Angie who looks tired. "Let's settle down then you can stop glowing. We'll have sleep for a bit."

Angie glances around to the darkness before turning to Donnie. "Can I cuddle you? It's going to be so dark."

Donnies heart warm and he nods his head. "Of course."

The two settle on the ground with Angie snuggling up into Donnies side.

"We've got each other. You're not alone." Donnie assures Angie before the other stops his glowing leaving them in darkness. "Sleep well."

"You too Donnie." Angie responds before yawning. He stays snuggled up with Donnie and lets himself drift off into sleep.

Donnie stays up for a bit and glances around despite it being pitch black. He hopes that they'll find a way out of here soon. He closes his eyes letting himself drift into sleep for now.

In the lair...

Mikey is curled up on Donnies bed. He can smell Donnie all around him. He sniffles which brings another inhale of Donnies scent into his nose.

Despite working on technology Donnie smells kind of earthy with the smell of flowers mixed in.

Mikey's always loved Donnies scent.

Raph tends to have a campfire and wood scent to him.

Leo smells like freshly fallen rain.

Yet Mikey hasn't liked how they smelled compared to Donnie. He may not like Donnie as more than a brother but he still cared deeply for him. He was closer to Donnie than he ever was with Leo and Raph. He buries his face into Donnies pillow and sobs. "I miss you! I want our family to be together!" He cries there in that bed not sure that he'll get any sleep tonight.

In a few rooms over Raph enters into Leo's room causing the other to look up from a book. He goes over to Leo's bed and sits on the bed with him.

Leo glances back to the book which is when Raph realizes it's actually a photo album.

One that Mikey had made for all of them.

Raph looks over Leo's shoulder to look at the photos Leo's looking at.

It's open to a page with photos of all of them together including Splinter.

Raph puts an arm around the blue banded turtle who leans into it. "You wanna talk?"

Leo lets out a soft sigh closing his eyes as he slightly cuddles into Raphs side. "We've lost two members of our family so suddenly. It doesn't feel quite real..." He admits and Raph feels sympathy for him. "I should have been able to realize that Donnie shouldn't have gone there. Maybe then he'd still be here."

"Fuck Leo." Raph snorts at hearing this. "There wasn't any way any of us knew this was going to happen. It's in no way your damn fault. Okay?"

Leo hesitates a moment before nodding softly.

Raph isn't sure that Leo fully believes him though he won't push things right now. He gives the top of Leo's head a kiss. He knows that hiding their relationship is so they can come out when ready, he just does wish that Donnie was able to know about them before he had died.

Now they'll for sure have to wait to even tell Mikey, since there's no way right after Donnie died it is a good time to tell him.

Plus Leo probably won't be ready to come out so soon after losing another family member.

Raph moves the photo album to the side. "Let's try to get some rest." He suggests which Leo nods softly to. He gives his mate a kiss on the lips that is soft, and is returned.

They lay down together on Leo's bed cuddling close. Taking comfort from being able to hold each other close. They close their eyes trying to fall asleep hoping that it will come to them.
