Atlas

Book 1: Rise of Atlas

Arc 1: Heroes of Tomorrow, Today

Part 1

Galaxy Inc Headquarters,

Metropolis, Delaware, United States of America

Prime Earth

A white haired man in an expensive Italian silk gray suit is in heavy conversation with a much shorter man as his companion. The golden Rolex on his wrist symbolizes the true wealth of him as he is trying to finish out his negotiations. Meanwhile his companion was the exact opposite. A much smaller, less imposing man, with a receding black hairline striking a stark contrast to the bigger man's full head of white hair.

A charming smile on his face the older man loosened his tie as their meeting for business had finally come to an end. "So what do you say?" He starts off before pausing to yank his tie off and toss it onto a couch in his office. "A drink to celebrate this turning point in our relationship?"

The other man involved in the conversation is much more nervous compared to the white haired man. "Mr. Glenmorgan..." He starts off before being cut by a gust of wind shaking some papers loose around them.

As Mr. Glenmorgan makes his way over to his bar the shorter man is protesting as Glenmorgan grabs two glasses. "I've been sober for six months, I appreciate the kind offer though."

The gust in the room picks up again as a red blur joins it, ending in a sudden quick gust of wind sending papers flying all around the room, highlighted by a tall imposing man with swept back black hair, and glowing red eyes. A red cape draped over his blue t-shirt and jeans holds a weird black symbol.

The man stands up and begins to sniff the air around him. Frowning for a second he replaces it with a feral grin. "Rats." Sniffing again he turns his attention to Mr. Glenmorgan. "Rats with money." A few of the other suited men attempt to stealthily draw and load their guns. Without even flinching the new man smiles even more. "And rats with guns? My lucky day."

"Now." The man says as he steps menacingly towards Mr. Glenmorgan. "You're the rat that's ruining this city." As he slowly makes his way over to the white haired man, the men behind him attempt to shoot him in the back, specifically the black logo on the cape.

The man continues walking as the guards attempt to unload into his back. Bullets begin to clang and fall onto the floor as they bounce off the man's back. Pausing as his ear twitches the man mutters something unintelligible to everyone else that's in the room.

Picking his pace up he covers the rest of the room before anyone else could blink. Now the unknown man has Mr. Glenmorgan pinned by his neck with his head hanging over the railing of the balcony.

"Now, now now. Let's not be hasty." Mr. Glenmorgan tries to show superiority in the situation but with the waver in his voice the superiority is completely lost.

The stranger's ears twitch again as the short man Mr. Glenmorgan was in business with sprints out of the room right as the elevator down the hall dings. The doors open and a Metropolis PD SWAT squad begins to sweep the hallway.

"Don't let him get me." The man practically blubbers out as tears start to well up in his eyes. "This madman in a shirt with some red parachute, crashed in and started shooting fire out of his eyes."

"Don't worry, someone downstairs will be taking your statement. You'll be safe down there." One of the officers responds to him as they continue making their way down to Mr. Glenmorgan's office.

"Oh, thank you sir." He makes his way over to the elevator and dries his tears and lets a more sinister smile take over. "Poor Mr. Glenmorgan. Won't someone help him?" He begins to chuckle deeply to himself as the elevator doors slam shut and it makes its way back down to the lobby.

The detective leading the SWAT team bursts into the room and all begin to make their way around the bodies crumpled, injured on the floor, and one guy who has half of his body thrown through the concrete reinforced wall.

The man is now standing on the railing as he dangles Mr. Glenmorgan over the edge holding him up by only his leg.

"PUT THAT MAN DOWN, AND STEP AWAY FROM THE LEDGE YOU MANIAC!" The lead detective bellows out as they move in on the man. His eyes normally brown tinged with red as he radiates pure anger.

Eyes still glowing a bright red, the man smiles as the cops take formation around him. "Just as soon as he makes a full confession. To someone who actually believes that the law should work the same to everyone, whether they're rich or poor. Because that's not Superman."

Mr. Glenmorgan screams out during the pause the man takes. "Please someone, for the love of Jesus save me." He turns his rage towards the cops that are watching him scream. "In the name of god, you're supposed to protect me. So do your jobs."

The Detective aims his gun for the space right between Superman's eyes. "Put down Mr. Glenmorgan or we'll be forced to shoot."

Superman's ears twitch one last time as his smile grows more and more menacing. "Still won't talk? You had your chance Mr. Glenmorgan." As his sentence ends, he pauses for a few more seconds to allow the suspense to truly build up before he lets go of Mr. Glenmorgan.

Screams overtake everything as Mr. Glenmorgan screams for his life as he plummets to the rapidly approaching ground beneath him. As Superman dropped him the detective rushes forward and tries to catch the falling man, arriving just out of the man's reach.

Superman steps towards the railing as he watches Me. Glenmorgan falls. As Superman watches, the detective turns his attention onto Superman. Marching up so he's face to face with him the Detectives face is blood red. "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?" He roars out before Superman simply points down towards Mr. Glenmorgan's falling body.

Just as he reaches the second story a new hand reaches out and grabs him. Mr. Glenmorgan is then pulled into a bridal carry as the new man plummets the last two stories hitting the street.

The asphalt of the street crumbles under the force in which the new man lands. Cracking and shattering it leaves two holes in the size of foot marks with piles of rubble surrounding them.

No longer feeling the wind rushing by him, Mr. Glenmorgan slowly opens up his eyes, being met with a pair of sea-green ones. Giving Mr. Glenmorgan a smirk the new man looks back up towards the balcony drawing Mr. Glenmorgan's eyes along with him. "We can do this all day, or however long you want to Mr. Glenmorgan. Just remember, no one is big enough where they can't be taken down a peg or two when Superman and I are around."

As Mr. Glenmorgan is lowered down to the ground by the new man, he collapses into a pile, blubbering out apologies. "I'm guilty. I'm guilty. I lied to everyone, what else do you want me to say? That I used cheap labor? Because I did. I also ignored safety procedures and bribed city officials to get away with it. I lied to everyone."

The cracking of asphalt picks up again as Superman lands next to Mr. Glenmorgan and the man who hasn't yet been named. Turning his attention towards the television crews who were recording everything he strikes a pose similar to a lawyer in an ad and jabs a finger towards the camera. "You all know the deal Metropolis. Either treat everyone right or Atlas, and I will come hunting for you." He gestures towards the newly named Atlas, and him as they both try to show their power.

His speech ends with the doors to the buildings being opened back up and the SWAT team still being led by the same detective swarm out of the building and surround Superman and Atlas.

"Freeze, both of you. Hands up you're under arrest." As he says this the earpiece inside of the detectives' ear passes on some new information, which causes Superman's ears to twitch, as he runs his eyes up and down the detectives body.

"You should call your doctor about that ulcer Detective Blake. It looks like it'll burst any second." He then begins to crouch down and tense up his muscles as he prepares to jump away from the scene.

Allowing his partner to prepare his exit Atlas fills in for the next point. "How about you and your boys deal with the actual criminals in this city. You all start doing that and you won't need us to start doing it for you."

As Atlas prepares to jump away Superman gives them one last smirk as they both jump and clear the crowd surrounding them. When Superman hits the ground he throws one last line back to Detective Blake. "Catch us if you can."

Then Superman starts running faster than humanly possible as the cops begin to unload their guns into him as Atlas sneaks away by jumping up to the top of one of the surrounding buildings.

Unbeknownst to both costumed heroes every single security camera on the block turned to focus on them, and begin to record their escape.

So that's right, next week this will have the next chapter get posted. As always thank you to Silver for controlling me on what I do, and being the world's best hype man.
