Chapter two:

Angie and Donnie are on the move again after waking up.

Donnie is glad to see Angie looking refreshed after that rest. He tries to find any signs of a breeze anywhere wanting to help get them out of here. He so far hasn't found anything. He glances to Angie as they continue to just move on in whatever way feels right.

Angie looks around as they go while still making sure he stays with Donnie.

Donnie smiles softly to himself turning away from Angie. He feels like getting trapped here might not have been so bad. He got to meet the other after all. He decides he needs to talk to him more. "Angie." He starts when a slight rumble around them makes them pause. He quickly glances around fearing another collapse. He notices some rocks fall from above which makes him scared. "Run!" He tells Angie and the two start running as they hear the collapse behind them. He finds that Angie is pretty quick in running. He does manage to keep up pretty okay with him. He starts to slow as the collapse and shaking comes to an end. He doesn't feel like they're in danger anymore.

However Angie doesn't stop and clearly in a panic he keeps running.

"Angie!" Donnie calls out attempting to catch him however he ends up trying to follow the light... Until he finds himself left in darkness... Alone... He slows to a stop and glances around trying to figure out where to go. "Angie!" He calls hoping the other will hear him. His voice echoing off the walls with no other reply. He takes each step cautiously as he tries to figure out where Angie went. "Angie! It's okay!" He calls hoping for a response only to once more get none. He takes hesitant and careful steps forward. He feels ahead of himself before taking each step. "Come back!" He tries as he manages to go further in the direction he thinks the other went. He just keeps going cautiously and grunts as he bumps into a wall. He puts a hand on it following it out of this tunnel. He makes it to a more open area with barely enough light to see.

There's still a lot of darkness around but it is easier to see compared to pitch black.

Donnie glances around trying to find any sort of sign of where Angie had gone. He knows the other had just ran in panic, so it would have been whatever way felt like the way to go. He looks to two tunnels unable to tell which one Angie went in. He tries to listen for any sounds from him however he doesn't hear any.

Angie is either too far away or has gone quiet.

Donnie slightly wonders how unlucky he is to have lost a literally glowing turtle. He supposes it doesn't matter as he needs to find the other. He refuses to try to find a way out without him. "Angie!" He tries again down each tunnel, then listening for a response. He gets none making him sigh as he decides he'll have to trust his gut... And hope that it'll lead to Angie... He heads down the tunnel to the right and follows it carefully into its darkness. He emerges into another area in darkness still. He tries to figure out what to do here since he can't see his own hand in front of his face. He listens as hard as he can for any sort of sound that'll lead him in the right direction. He can hear a slight sound in one tunnel so he follows it. He sees light up ahead and heads for it. He feels fresh air and comes out into some wilderness. He looks to the ground looking for any sign that Angie made it out. He doesn't see anything. He looks around the area with nothing. So he turns back to the tunnel system.

Angie is still in there.

Donnie doesn't care that he found a way out. He has to find Angie. He spots a discarded old oil lamp which he picks up. He tries it and finds it still works. So with that in hand he prepares to go back. He takes a breath and heads back in to look for him. He keeps a memory of where that exit is.

In the city...

Leo, Mikey and Raph are on a patrol with everything being quiet between them. They just look for any signs of trouble.

Raph sneaks a peek at Leo while they're crouched on a rooftop looking down to the streets. He can't help thinking about how they lost Donnie. He looks away as he remembers the times that they almost lost Leo. He lets out a breath and turns to glance for Mikey. He has to know where he is. He spots the other standing on a slightly higher rooftop just staring off with his back to Raph. He gets up and heads towards Mikey, out of the corner of his eye he sees Leo take notice though not say anything, and he gets himself to be beside the other. "Mikey." He begins causing Mikey to jump and turn to him. "You can head back if you need to." He offers to the other who shakes his head then looks away.

"I know we're all suffering from suddenly losing Donnie like that." Mikey lets out a breath before he continues. "I can keep going." He doesn't sound as confident as he probably wanted to, though he looks like he thinks he got his point across. "I can." He tries again still not sounding as confident as he wants. He lets out a sigh as he comes to realize it might be hopeless to try to convince them. "I do miss him a lot. Things don't feel the same without him." He gets hugged by his older brothers and he ends up breaking down to them.

They remain there with the older two hugging the youngest.

Mikey just cries to them for a good bit within their arms. He finally settles after a little crying. "I can still finish the patrol." He still tries to insist even with a slight sniffle.

"You sure? You can go back to the lair." Leo offers but Mikey shakes his head.

"Please." Mikey's plea makes Raph and Leo glance to each other before giving in.

"Alright. Lets go." Leo confirms and they continue on their way.

Mikey is at least glad that he was able to convince them.

The patrol went pretty well with the whole city being quiet.

Allowing the turtles to return to relax soon enough.

Mikey slips away heading into Donnies lab. He stands there looking at the now abandoned projects. He swears that the place is eerily quiet now without Donnie. He doesn't feel right standing here with the lab so silent. He heads to Donnies chair and sits down resting his arms on the desk to rest his head. He decides that he'll stay here for a bit. He stays there in the silence of Donnies lab just remembering him. He can remember when they were a few years younger Donnie gave Mikey something he still treasures. He got a pair of safety glasses so he could help Donnie, while the two match with the safety glasses when they were needed. He also can remember how Donnie showed him each part as he mixed chemicals, how he explained things despite Mikey not really understanding it. He keeps remembering until he checks the time finding he missed supper.

Raph and Leo are at least giving him the space he needs right now.

Mikey gets up heading to bed since it's bed time now. He thinks that he should get some rest this time.

In the tunnels...

Donnie keeps searching carefully making his way through. "Angie!" He calls hoping for an answer. He can't help wondering if maybe there's a way the two of them could be mates someday. He tries to push those thoughts away as he continues his search. He slows to a stop as he comes to a spot with three ways to go. He glances down each way finding himself unsure where to go. He gets a sudden gut feeling and follows it down the tunnel to the right. He takes a right after coming to a fork. He follows that tunnel slowing to a pause as he comes to a large open area. He'll have to be careful as he sees several cliffs and slopes. He looks around before gasping as he spots some light coming from a small cave down below. He thinks it looks like Angie's glow... Just brighter...

Could Angie be glowing brighter in a panic attack or something?

Donnie pushes away those thoughts knowing that he needs to get down there. He sits on the edge of a cliff then carefully jumps down to the one just below. He walks to the edge of this one glancing down for the next cliff. He can see this one is a bit further away.

At least the next cliff leads to where he can jump to some rocks from a rockslide which take him to the bottom.

Donnie backs up a little then runs before leaping managing to land on the next cliff. He feels his heart warm as he knows that he is getting closer to where Angie is. He jumps until he gets to the rockslide, where he carefully picks his way down to the bottom. He heads for where the light is coming from looking inside. He gasps at seeing Angie curled up shaking with his eyes shut tightly. His heart feels like it's being torn up at seeing Angie like this.

The other is clearly terrified and panicking.

Donnie moves closer and he lays on his side next to the other turtle. "Angie?" He tries to see if the other can hear him right now.

Angie turns to him scared only to blink in surprise. "D-Donnie?"

Donnie smiles to Angie at this. "I'm here." He confirms spotting tears falling down Angie's face at seeing him.

"I... I thought you left... Left without me... I tried to find you... I couldn't... I couldn't..." Angie glances down at this.

"No. Of course not. You ran off after getting spooked and I tried to keep up. After I lost track of you I tried to find where you went. Also I have good news. I found a way out of here." Donnie sees Angie perk up a little to him. "It's where I found something to light my way to find you. I would never leave you behind."

Angie sniffles before shifting up and tackling Donnie in a hug. His glowing going down to a lighter glow. His eyes returning to normal compared to how they were glowing before. "Thank you. Thank you so much!" He sniffles and Donnie holds him close.

Donnie feels so warm having Angie held so close to him. He wants them to be close forever. He feels some sadness as he realizes something.

In order for them to be together like Donnie is wanting one of them would have to leave their family...

Donnie decides to not say anything. He will feel hurt having to say goodbye when the time comes, he however thinks that it'll probably be for the best anyways. "Come on. Let's get out of this place. Together."

Angie pulls away after Donnie feels a nod from him. He wipes away his tears letting his glowing fully settle down.

Donnie takes Angie's hand. "No need for glowing. You relax on that and I'll light our way this time." He grabs his light that helped him find his way. He takes Angie back to the way out where they step out to the sun on the horizon.

"I know this area!" Angie gasps looking around while Donnie puts down the light they used; making sure that it won't start any fires. "Follow me! I know my way back from here!" He takes the lead this time making sure to not go too fast so Donnie can keep up. He leads Donnie through the wilderness leaving behind a grassy area and going to a more rocky area. "We're almost there!" He keeps doing before ducking under some space dug out under some large rocks.

Donnie follows through only to get to the other side where he sees Angie just standing there. He glances around taking in the space made with large rocks all around.

There are some large rocks that were dug under looking like dens, and even a large rock on its side in the perfect sun basking spot, a small pile of what looks like leaves with some bones that was maybe once a food pile, and it has a small pond in the back with a small waterfall going into it.

"Hey! I'm back!" Angie calls looking around worriedly when nothing happens. "They... They left... There's always one of us that stay here. Watching our home while the rest of us are gone. So the fact that no one's here means they've left." He lowers his head sadly. "And I have no way to find them."

Donnies heart hurts at seeing Angie look so sad. He goes to him putting an arm around him causing the other to turn to him. "I'm sorry that they left."

"It's okay. They probably think I'm dead. So I understand." Angie looks around his home once more. He seems to be trying to figure out what he's supposed to do now.

"You could come live with me." Donnie offers to Angie who turns to him blinking in surprise. "No way am I gonna leave you alone. Also." He tries to not blush. "I would like it if you came to live with us. Since your family left already."

Angie stares at him for a moment before hugging him happily. "Thank you! I'd love to come live with you too!"

Donnie lets out a churr hugging Angie back. He is about to apologize when Angie giggles making it feel okay.

"But can we rest here? Just for tonight?" Angie requests stepping back. "One last time out here?" He blinks hopeful at Donnie who smiles.

"I don't mind that." Donnie agrees making Angie happy again. He is suddenly lead by the hand to one of the dens. His hand is let go of as Angie darts into the den. He decides to follow slipping down into the den where he finds a nice nest.

The nest is made with woven sticks, lines with leaves and even some tall grass, and upon closer inspection the bottom is padded with moss.

Donnie can't help thinking that it does look comfy.

"Come on in." Angie invites after climbing over the wall of the nest to lay in it. "It's really comfy. If you're okay with sharing a nest that is. I can let you use one of the other nests." He stops as Donnie climbs inside laying with Angie.

"Sharing a nest is fine with me." Donnie assures Angie who grins at this. He curls up entangled with the other kind of reminding him of sleeping as kids with his brothers. Except his heart didn't race when he did so with his brothers. He closes his eyes resting his head on Angie's shell as the two of them fall asleep pretty fast in the comfy nest.
