Amelia
My breath was dry and hoarse as I opened my eyes.
Blue grass. Big hills. The sky was a usual color is cartoon like clouds. My arms shook as I rose up and stood. I touched my throat as it felt tight and then I turn around fast.
No one. But me.
"I'm in the spirit world."
"I'm in the spirit world." I said aloud and I took a step forward, but I fell as something had my legs attached to green roots. I touched it and thorns threated me as they appeared. I shot fire at it, but another root grasped my wrist and slammed me forward on the ground.
My head turned behind me again as I moved my other arm, but the root grabbed that one too and I was laid on the dirt floor. My breathing had not stopped since I saw Axel.
"His eyes were red. Not like Sally's but almost similar. Why? Why was-"
I heard rustling in the grass behind me and I saw a green shaped creature with a mask face. We started at each other, and it ran to my face and touched my cheek. Its face started vibrating and I rose my head up.
"DO you remember me?!" I asked and it stopped vibrating.
"I was here. Months ago. Me and my friends. Remember?"
It started vibrating again and sat down in front of me and I watched it do so.
"… are you tying me down?" I asked and it continue to shake its face. "
"Is it you that's holding me here?"
The plant like creature stops shaking its face and then crawled on my back and sat down. I noticed that it became comfy on my back as it snuggled in my jacket.
"I need to leave. I cannot be here. My friend... he... there is something wrong with him. Please let me go."
The creature jumped from my back and then started running off.
"Wait!" It ran into the woods, and I felt the roots tug gently and then I was being pulled through the force.
"Ahh!" Dirt got in my face as I was dragged and then I caught up to the creature that was sprinting.
My head lifts up and I see the edge of the cliff. My heart jumped and I tried to move arm, but it was held down.
"AHHHH!" the creature jumped off the cliff first and then me.
The roots shoot downward quickly, and I open my eyes to see a small pond of water.
"SPLASH."
My eyes open and then I see that was underwater the roots brought me to shore, and the creature was wiping its face and watching me get dragged in.
"That wasn't very nice. l said and then I blinked slowly.
Small flecks of darkness moved past my face until the entire area was covered. I turned around and to look at the area and then I turned back, and it was back to normal.
The creature turned its head and I felt sweat prickle at my head.
"Aaahhhaaa not again-"
Pain screeched through my body and my vision turned black.
"Princess..." Vaatu twisted my vision and I open an eye painfully.
"Still haven't bothered to use the darkness."
"I won't. This pain isn't bad enough to cause harm to o-others." I breathed out and pain ten folded. I yelled out and then Vaatu laughed.
"You actually are a stupid girl. Taking on something you know nothing about."
"I had too-"
The pain rang through my lower abdomen, and I flinch.
The pain stopped fast, and I breathe heavily, and my vision started to clear up.
My eyes looked towards the sky, and I watched the clouds float above me.
The spirit jumped in my line of vision, and it sat on me and offered me some fruit.
"Thank you." I smiled softly and it fed me the fruit. The tiredness feeling floated away and my body temperature was normal.
"That was the same fruit they have sonic when he was having visions. " I said as I continued to get dragged through the forest and then we stopped at a near by grassy area. The spirit sat down on a pile of leaves and decided to take a nap, leaving me on the vines that were holding me fell off and I carefully got up and walked away.
Quicker.
Once I was a few feet away I ran. Fast.
"I'm sure they have me here because of my dark energy. They do the same to Sonic-"
I froze and I close my eyes.
"Sonic!"
I tried to connect with him from here and nothing connected.
"Sonic… Hello?"
I opened my eyes and I started to run again. I get out of the forest, and I step a couple of steps until I heard rustling behind me.
It was the spirit.
"Okay, you caught me." I said and the creature walked out and started to brown, and I grabbed it and put it back on the grass.
"you shouldn't harm yourself for others. I told you that." I kneeled down and petted it.
It turned a dark green and started to grow in size. I backed up and my head leaned up towards the sky as it got bigger. It reached and grabbed me fully and I yell.
"Hey! I can't play with you today! I have to find my friends!" I tried to get out and it brought me to its face. Its eyes started glowing and my vision started to blur. I close my eyes and then once I opened them, I was on a different part of the spirt world. The grass was cold and there was no wind… or sun but I could still see. It wasn't dark but it was dim… filtered almost as I stood up. I saw a flicker of darkness and I continued to walk as a freezing breeze touched my skin. A light blue stream flew past my eyes, and I turn my head to the left.
"Sonic!" I ran and I continued to follow it.
"Where are you!"
I got nothing back and then I tripped over something and then I felt a grunt. My landing was soft, and I leaned up and saw him blinking his eyes open slowly.
"Ow-"
I got off of him and tried to lean him, but the grass was holding him down as well.
"Sonic… wait. Why are you here too?"
"I… I don-"
Sonic seemed to faint, but I realized that it was extremely cold here. It didn't bother me as much but with no sun and the faint stream of light. I can see why Sonic would be so sleepy. I reached to pull him up and the grass let him go surprisingly. I placed him on my back and grunted as we took long steps around the dimmed area. I was walking for a moment, and I stopped once I saw the same area that had the outline of Sonic's body imprinted on the ground.
"I was just here."
I warm my body up, trying to get Sonic to wake and I heard a mumble.
"Sonic. Listen. This area is in a loop a-and why did Axel have spirit energy. He pointed at us, and we came here? What does that even mean-"
"Axel… it was h-him." Sonic breathe heavily. "Whatever it is… I'm not sure but his eyes… red. Glowing-"
"Is it possible he sent us here?" I cut him off and Sonic turned his head.
"…Something is happening at the fire kingdom. Something bad." Sonic tried to walk but he slumped on the ground. "We have to do something."
"Yeah… okay." I grabbed his hands and closed my eyes.
My body shifted and once I opened them, we were in my spirit realm. The flower grew instantly with a burst of color and Sonic sprung up fast.
"Welcome Princess." Spoke
"H-hello. I need to get back to earth."
He starred at me and brought me fruits .
"I am unable to do that."
"Why… try to send Sonic back." I pushed Sonic forward was slowing warming up and he tried again.
"I am unable to do that request Princess."
"Why? Did we die?" Sonic asked and my heart jumped.
"No. But you have both have been sent here from another spirit. I have never seen this before. But… you have been shut off from earth. Your spirts have been sent back to the spirit world for 3 hours."
"We have a time limit… no. We need to go back , NOW." I close my eyes and focus.
I felt nothing shift, no energy change. Absolutely nothing.
Sonic rose up and turned to me and we starred into each other's eyes.
"What do we do?" Sonic asked and I shrugged my shoulders."
"I don't know." Hopelessly I sat on the ground, and I started to think of the worst.
"We have to figure out something. I have a bad feeling." He says and he pulls me up. "Let's walk."
"But were. He said we could go back until 3 hours for now. He doesn't even know what's going on so how are we going to be able to find out. The spirt world is too large and about time we figure out something, more than three hours will pass."
"That's fine. We can't just sit here after what we saw. Our bodies are just there and everyone else are on their own. We are the only two who spirit energy besides Cass and the Asendel is too far for them to get there in time." I look at the back of his head.
"So where are we going?"
"The dark side. I'm sure Vaatu knows what's going on… maybe you can shift us there and we will get there faster." Sonic suggests ad I grab his hand. I close my eyes and I feel my hair float from the energy I using to teleport but then my hair touches my shoulder again.
"It didn't work." I said and Sonic looks at me.
"What-… your nose." Sonic touched my face and blood appeared on his hand.
I look at him and immediately feel faint. My legs fall limp, my body ran cold… but I felt myself be caught. My eyes were heavy as I tried to gain control of it, but I was feeling sluggish. I let them close then I opened them.
"Well, well it didn't take you long to figure out that something is going on!"
Tentacles wrapped around my neck, and I was being lifted from the ground. The grip strengthened and my eyes felt like they were about to pop out. I clawed at his arm, and I coughed loudly.
"Let's have a chat." Vaatu finally appears and he stares me in the eyes. " You and Sonic are going to have some fun while I have fun on earth because you two refuse to do what I say!"
He tightens his grip, and my ears start ringing as I feel so much pressure.
"But it's fine. I found a better person suit for what needs to be done and well… seems like I have no use for the fire kingdom or the water kingdom. I'll find someone who wants it ALL! Someone who understands that darkness is needed to keep balance in the universe! You all will see the great power that I withheld that you refused to use, and I'll use it all the way until there is no light. For Ions! It's been light…. Light! And now that I even have two bodies that could use it any moment are wasting my time and power… well. That means I'll just get someone else to do it… someone who has been shunned from the light just as I!"
I soon was starting to fade and Vaatu frowned and let me go and then I appear back to Sonic.
I gasp loudly of air and Sonic pulled me in close as I tried to catch my breath.
"Oh my gosh!" Sonic held me softly and then leaned me back.
"Are you alright?! What was that?" Sonic held me close, and I cough and hacked. "Baby, just breathe-"
"Vaatu is... in Axel."
Sonic
"What…" My eyes felt dry from staring at her in shock.
Amelia's eyes watered and her lips wrinkled.
"Axel wasn't leaving to better himself… Something else was going on and I didn't listen-" Amelia coughed more, and I patted her back, but I also starred off.
"There is no way… he… he wouldn't do that."
"I should have known! Fuck!' Amelia stood up and stumbled but I helped her up as well.
"Easy. Amelia wait."
"Wait?!" Amelia walked up to me. "We have no choice but to wait because of this curse! Vaatu brought us here so he could destroy Asendel and the fire kingdom! And we have no idea what's going on! All those random people that looked like creatures… Its Vaatu using Axel for power! Something must have happened to him when he was journeying maybe… yeah. Axel has to had been forced. Something… he wouldn't… would he?"
"I'm not sure." I said and I tried to touch her, but she backed away. "Amelia… let's just."
"Let's do what?!" her eyes were streaming now, and I stood in place. "I let someone else… alone. Scrouge…now Axel." She rubs her face and runs it up through her hair. "I'm… I'm no better than the fire queen. "
Her eyes moved to mine.
"I… I didn't mean that, but I can't help but to think about her actions and mine. I am so unthoughtful because I let ones go when in reality…they need. It's a call for help and I can't ignore them!"
"Babe, you are doing your best." I took a step closer as she was crying into her hands.
I walk closer to her, and I brought her in smoothly. She rested her face on my chest and I slowly sit down with her.
"I'm sorry for bringing up your mom." She sniffed on my chest.
"It's alright."
I rubbed her back as we sat down on the grass, and she leaned up slowly.
"Sorry."
"It's okay." I smiled softly but there was pain behind my smile.
"I… uh. I feel like in a way. I pushed him there because how I felt about you."
Her eyes moved to mine, and she shook her head, about to disagree but I shrugged my shoulders.
"You both knew each other for so long and it was obvious he… was in love with you so I guess seeing you fall for someone else hurt him. "
"You think?" Amelia looked off and I nodded my head silently.
"Never less. People are responsible for their own actions. So. Whatever is going on out there. Whenever we head back. We have to be focused. There is too much on the line and I'm still keeping my promise to keep you safe."
I wipe her tears away and to kiss her forehead.
My eyes moved back to her deep shades of blue. They were filled with trust and safety.
"I lo…_"
I froze and my heat exploded from me, making the trees and grass brush back. My face was a hot red and then I let her face go.
"What?"
"I don't know!" I stood up quickly.
"You don't know?" She walked closer and I nodded my head.
"Yeah!"
"No, you were about to say something."
"I wasn't. But we should get going."
Amelia face studied mine and then she started to frown.
"Just when you were being so sweet to me, you had to ruin it with not telling me the rest of your feelings." She turned and started to walk off.
"No! I'm serious I'm not sure." I walk up to her, and she marches in front of me.
"Fuck! I really didn't know what I was about to say. "
I watched her stop and looking over a hill and her hair blew back, showing her focused face until she looked at me and she frowned.
My heart skipped a beat, and I clenched my fist.
"I love her."
I touched my chest as my heart was jumping of joy at the thought of my feelings.
"Love…" This feeling was something I haven't felt before. That nervous pounding emotion. The tingle in my brain and the excitement I feel in my legs. I'm sure… That's what it has to be.
"I'm in love with her."
