"Angel, where have you been?" Wesley asked. "I've been looking for you. The depossession ritual worked, Cordelia is back. The fetus disappeared the moment it completed."
"That's good to know." Angel said dully.
"Angel? Where have you been?"
"Connor and I went to see the Oracles. I wanted to know why they hadn't told us any of this. Apparently, they can only answer questions that are asked. They can't offer information. They answered every question I asked."
"And what were the answers?" Wesley asked.
"Xander's right, I was never on a mission of redemption. I've been manipulated since I was pulled out of Acathla's dimension. I was to be the father to the Miracle Child so he could be used to impregnate Cordelia. So the thing possessing her could have a taylor made host. Her visions don't come from anyone, they just are. They were forced into activation early."
"Did you ask about why this Xander is here?"
"Yes. The answer is, he must learn to control what he has acquired. According to the Oracles, he's become very powerful. They also say, he walks with gods and so does the Cordelia with him. Where are they? I'd like to ask them some questions as well."
"Asleep, they really were exhausted. Fred showed them to a room and they just fell into the bed. Didn't even bother to take off their boots. Angel, there's something we need to talk about. I've put our Cordelia on a suicide watch. She remembers what that thing possessing her did while in control. She won't talk about it. But she may have been possessed since the coma. It may not have been her that came out of it. At least not her in control."
"Since she became part demon to handle the visions."
"Yes, exactly."
"Why didn't we notice? Was that part of the manipulation or were we just blind? There had to be signs, didn't there?"
"Lorne saw something, what ever Wolfram and Hart pulled out of his head. Beyond that, I don't know. Maybe we were all being manipulated."
About twelve hours later, Xander came downstairs.
"I'm finally starting to feel better." Xander said. "Seriously, the last week has really caught up with us."
"What have you been doing for the last week?" Wesley asked.
"Reality hopping. We're on a quest. To find the items necessary to destroy a demon. One that's corrupted the Game and the purpose of the immortals."
"What are immortals?" Angel asked.
"Great, we're in a reality where they don't even exist. Immortals were created by the gods to be living weapons against vampires. We're both poisonous and immune to them. As well as living immortal verses dead immortal."
"You're one of these immortals?" Wesley asked.
"Yep. Born with the potential, activated in Sunnydale when Angel killed me."
"You basically said I can't be held accountable for Angelus' crimes, why are blaming me for one now?"
"I'm not. Angelus didn't kill me, you did. Did Faith go rogue here?"
"Yes."
"Did Buffy put together an op to try to prove that?"
"Yes."
"Did you knock me unconscious and leave me on the street, at night, in Sunnydale?"
"Well, yeah. But they were watching."
"No, they weren't. Never even occured to them. I wonder how local me manged to survive? Guess we'll find out when we get to Sunnydale."
"According to the Oracles, you're here to learn to control what you've acquired. What does that mean, what have you acquired?"
"Power. We're going to need a ride to Sunnydale."
"I'll drive you." Wesley said.
"Good. We're about ready to leave. Where's local Cordelia?"
"I've put her on suicide watch. She remembers everything that happened while she was possessed." Wesley told him.
"Gods. She's coming with us. We're not leaving her in your care."
"You can't take her. She belongs with us." Angel protested.
"You let this happen to her. Because you're a moron. And Angel, you can't destroy me, but I can sure as Hell destroy you." Xander readied a fireball. "Stay out of my way. Or this has your name on it. Show me where she is, Wes."
"Where's your Cordelia right now?" Wesley asked, as he showed Xander to local Cordelia's room.
"Getting something to eat." Xander entered Cordelia's room.
"Cordelia?" He said softly.
"Xander, what are you doing here?"
"I'm not your Xander, Cordelia. I'm from another reality. I'm going to take you to your Xander, to Sunnydale."
"You think he can help me?"
"More then anyone else can."
"Okay."
Both Cordelia's sat in the back seat of Wesley's car and Xander sat in the front seat.
"You just missed Willow and Faith. They left not long before you showed up." Wesley told them and explained why they'd been there.
"You yanked the soul and then lost it? The more I hear, the more I think you're all brain dead. The damned curse should never have been done in the first place and you still haven't figured out, it didn't break because Angel was happy. It's not on him. It broke because Angelus got something out of it."
The rest of the car ride passed in silence. They pulled up in front of Buffy's house and got out, Xander knocked on the door. A tall, slim girl opened it.
"Xander? What are you doing here? I thought you went with Buffy on the raid."
"I'm afraid I don't know you, Miss. I'm not from this reality. Can we come in? We've got a lot to talk about."
Dawn looked past Xander and saw two Cordelia's. "Oh boy." She motioned them in.
