Hey everyone, Pygmalion here. First of all, I hope you've all had a wonderful Christmas, and my gift to you is an update on the status of Pulsar Company. It kind of keeps slipping my mind that the last arc was ended in May and I've been basically radio silent since, so now is as good a time as any to clue you guys in on my plans.

First, the status of the Alderaan arc. Nothing has been done with it. I took a break for several months to recharge and have done no work on it yet. I have some preliminary ideas, but nothing like a full design document or anything. This was partly because I was deliberating over how I was going to handle the matter of the rewrite and its deployment. I know in the A/N for Chapter 42 I mentioned syncing the release of the Tatooine rewrite to the first chapter of Alderaan, but I think I need to go further with that.

This leads me to my second point; I will not be leapfrogging the rewrite with the arcs as I had originally planned, where I would rewrite one arc and then start a new one. Instead, the Tatooine and Coruscant rewrites will both be rewrittenand posted here simultaneously with the release of the first Alderaan chapter.

Third, for the first time in the 9 years that I have been writing fanfiction, I have an actual, honest to god, no shit for real design document that I wrote the plans for the rewrite in, and am properly adhering to. This means that Tatooine is going to be as narratively airtight as it can be, and Coruscant will finally shed horrific narrative confusion that plagued its writing constantly.

Fourth, progress on the rewrite is going smoothly. I have several people now who are willing to both read my drafts and provide highly valuable feedback on things I can improve. This is little things like dialogue, mannerisms, descriptiveness, and so on, to big things like, say, the first confrontation between Nax and Lostur's men in Chapter 1, which has been rewritten to make them a credible threat, just as an example. Chapter 1 needs some further polish before I consider it 'final', Chapter 2 is sitting as a draft and I'm awaiting feedback, and Chapter 3 is drafted up to the interrogation sequence. I have solid plans for 4 through 9, and need to set up the design document for Coruscant, but the rewrite is going well. Very well.

Fifth, the previous arc is also going to be rewritten with the other two. It bloated far too out of control and was much too disjointed for my liking, considering how important it was supposed to be. I'm reasonably confident I can shave about six or seven chapters off of it. As much as I would like to simply say "to hell with it" and throw that arc under the bus, I don't want to put a disclaimer at the end of Coruscant that says "hey this next arc is dogshit keep an open mind thanks :)", because that reflects poorly on me to willingly leave such a drop in quality visible. Doubly so since this arc is supposed to be the second most important out of all of them.

Sixth, with the rewrite, I'm also planning to upload Pulsar Company to AO3 once each arc is completed. The AO3 version will be identical, except with the addition of art I will be making using the character models of Pulsar Company characters. I already have a few basic plans for how these will look, but they will also be posted elsewhere, which brings me to my last point.

This is to provide a space for easy communication with me, facilitate a community, as well as receive updates on the progress of my writing so we can avoid the long-term radio silence that I've just broken. TL;DR version: Pulsar Company is going to be on hold for the forseeable future while I bunker down on the rewrite. I don't want to move forward with Alderaan with everything behind it being such a mess.
