It's a calm and quiet night on the Boiling Isles. Everyone is out and about, enjoying the night. At the Owl House, things are peaceful... for now. Eda is currently helping Luz with discovering new glyph combinations. "Okay" Luz says, just finishing a combination " This is going to be a good one. I can feel it!" She places her hand on the glyph, which glows yellow before sparking. The static travels up her arm, and her hair stands on end.
Eda and King laugh at her. "That's a good look on you, kid," Eda snorts. Luz narrows her eyes and smirks, grabbing Eda's hand. The static runs along Eda's arm, and after a few moments, her hair stands up on end, resembling a giant afro.
" It's definitely catching on," Luz grinned as Eda glared playfully at her and King rushed to Eda, jumping onto her wrist. "I wanna try!". And his fur puffed up, making him look like a black cotton ball with horns, which made Eda and Luz laugh at King.
"That's not funny!" King shouted at them. Then Hooty opened Eda's door, coming in. "Hoot Hoot! Lulu is almost done with dinner, Hoot!" Hooty said. Eda and Luz stopped laughing and looked at Hooty, then at each other before grinning and looking back at Hooty as he said, "Hoot?".
Downstairs, Lilith was in the kitchen adding spices to a pot that was on the stovetop, with tentacles poking out of it. "Just a pinch of gargoyle vinegar," she said as she picked up a bottle and removed the lid. Lilith heard Hooty's voice beside her. "They'll be down in a minute, Lulu."
" Thank you , Hootsifer'' Lilith smiled " I think this is going to - Oh my titan!" Lilith gasped, dropping the whole bottle into the pot. When Lilith turned to Hooty , she sees that he's feathers are puffed out. " Do you like it ?" Hooty asked "Eda and Luz said that it's a new style that's catching on ".
"Oh," Lilith blinked, "such a... bold new look."
"Aw, thanks Lulu," Hooty said, wrapping himself around Lilith in a hug , sighing in annoyance , but smiled nonetheless, before she noticed that the pot was boiling over more than it should. It didn't take long for Lilith to realize that she had dropped the bottle into the mix. "Oh no."
Cut to outside, The Owl House was seen just as a loud BOOM ! shook the entire house, scaring off some of the wildlife. Inside, Eda, Luz, and King walked down the stairs into the kitchen, their hair and fur returning to normal. "Okay guys, what's cooking? " Luz said. They stopped in their tracks and starred at the scene before them , the kitchen had what looked like orange soup with tentacles splattered all over the walls and ceiling. Lilith and Hooty turned to face them, their fronts completely covered in soup.
"What happened?" Eda asked.
Lilith removed her glasses, revealing her eyes and the small bit of her face protected by the blast. "Too much gargoyle vinegar," Lilith said.
"Allow me." Hooty said as he scooped up Lilith's glasses into his mouth, seconds later he spat them out in Lilith's hand, clean of soup but dripping wet from his spit. "Mmm spicy " Hooty said.
"Thank you, Hootsifer." Lilith said as she properly cleaned them and Eda looked around her kitchen. "Well, Lily, it looks like all those cooking classes finally paid off." Eda chuckled as Lilith glanced at her with a smile on her face and went upstairs to change for the night.
Luz looked at the walls a little grossed out. Then she heard a scraping sound and looked to see King using a spoon to scrape the soup into a bowl. King noticed that Luz was staring at him "What? , can't get let it go to waste."
Luz shook her head, smiling at King, but got a bowl of kraken soup for herself. The group sat at the kitchen table after cleaning the kitchen. They all enjoyed the soup, which tasted oddly good having just been on the wall. "So," Eda spoke up. "What kind of trouble are you gonna get into tonight, kid?" Eda asked Luz.
"She means metaphorically," Lilith said.
" No, I don't," Eda smirked, sipping her apple blood.
Luz looked at Eda and Lilith. "I don't know, trouble seems to have a way of finding me, but not tonight," Luz said.
"Maybe you should try wearing a disguise?" King offered.
"That's not what I meant, King," Luz said, putting her hand under her chin and thinking for a moment. "But I know that I'm tempted to do something that involves disguises."
Eda smiled at Luz, placing a hand on her shoulder " Luz , with or without a disguise, you're still you" Luz smiled back at her and hugs her , and Eda returns the gesture.
Lilith smiles at the sweet moment, causing Eda to raise an eyebrow. "What?" Eda asks, breaking the hug.
"Oh, nothing," Lilith says. "I'm just still surprised to see how maternal you are."
"What?" Eda gasps.
"Don't you remember the Google beast test?" Lilith reminded her.
"The what test?" Luz asked with a raised eyebrow.
" It was an old test back in our Hexside days," Lilith explained. "Students were given a Google beast egg and had to take care of it when it hatched."
"Oh," Luz said, realizing something. "We have something like that back in the human world."
" And the Google beast was raised by your truly and was bigger and better than everyone else's " Eda said proudly.
"Eda, it ate three other students," Lilith pointed out.
Luz and King glanced at each other then back to Eda, who scoffed, "Oh please, it spat them out after a couple of minutes and they aren't even close to being digested."
Well," Luz said, blinking, "the important thing is that they're okay."
" Physically yes". Lilith added before he expression became dark "They saw things in there and they were never the same again".
Luz and King looked at each other a little scared before looking back at Eda, breaking the silence. "Well, I'm glad they're okay," Luz said as Eda looked at her.
"Oh, they're fine, but they did run away like a bunch of headless cockatrices when they saw me." Eda said as Lilith snickered at the memory.
"Yes, I remember that one of them ran into a pole while the other two ran into each other." Lilith laughed.
Luz laughed at that before she heard Hooty's voice in her ear. "Oh Luz, you have a guest."
"Amity " Luz said , turning to see Hooty , only to see that he's covered abomination goo " Wow , how did you know ?" Hooty asked .
"Just a hunch," Luz smiled before running to the door as King ran across the table and took Luz's bowl, which still had soup in it.
"King, no!" Lilith exclaimed as she finished up her soup.
"Luz knows the rules. Abandon your food and it's first find, first consume!" King said before several bits of abomination goo dripped off of Hooty and into the soup "Weh?".
"Are you gonna eat that?" Hooty asked. King sighed and offered the bowl to Hooty. "Here " .
"Oh boy!" And Hooty proceeded to swallow the whole bowl.
Luz quickly opened the door to reveal Amity and her paladin, Ghost, who was perched on Amity's shoulder. She let them in as Hooty shut the door behind them. Luz embraced her girlfriend, saying, "Amity, it's so good to see you!"
'''Me too,'' Amity said, returning the hug.
The girls broke their hug when they heard a meow and looked down to see Ghost rubbing herself against Luz's legs. "And you too, Ghost," Luz said, scratching under Ghost's chin, making her purr.
"Hey! The girls and Ghost turn to see King stomping over them and the Clawthorne sisters and Hooty come out of the kitchen and into the living room " The only one getting scratches and belly rubs in this house is me!" King said.
Ghost became defensive and stood in front of Luz, swiping her claws at King, which barely missed his nose. ''Ahh!" King screamed and ran away from the palisman and jumped into Eda's hair, popping out a second later, shaking his fist. "How dare you attack your king? I'll have my revenge!" Ghost responded with a mighty HISSSS!.
Edal and Lilith were watching them from the couch. "As entertaining as this fight would be, both of you should behave," Eda warned King and Ghost.
King jumped out of Eda's hair and walked towards the girls and cat. "You think you can scare me, cat?" King said and Ghost growled at King. "Well, what you don't know is that I've seen Earth's YouTube videos!" And King tossed something green in front of Ghost.
"A cucumber?" Luz said in confusion before her eyes widened in realization, "Oh no."
The ghost screeched in fear, jumping into the air, startling the girls and landing on Hooty's door. It began to claw at it, "Ow! Hoot! Those claws are sharp!" Hoot yelled.
Luz and Amity rushed to Hooty, shouting, "Hang on, Hooty! /Ghost, he's not a scratching post!" Amity grabbed hold of Ghost, but she wasn't budging, so Luz wrapped her arms around Amity's waist and pulled hard. Together, they managed to get Ghost off of Hooty.
But in the process , they go flying backwards " Whoa!/Hello!" And Luz lands on the ground back first with Amity on top of her, both groaning ,Eda, Lilith and King are laughing at the two.
" For Hootsifer's sake maybe you two should go to a different part of the house" Lilith said between her chuckles.
" Maybe your right " Luz said as she and Amity get off the floor.
"Wait," Amity said, freezing. "Where's Ghost?"
Everyone looks around, but there's no sign of the palisman. Amity's worry turns into anger and she turns to a very scared King "What did you do to Ghost?! Tell me!" And Amity creates an abomination gauntlet of goo around her hand for good measure.
"Easy Amity," Luz puts her hand on Amity's shoulder "I'm sure that King didn't do anything to Ghost."
"Ahem!" The girls look at Lilith, who clears her throat to get their attention. "I believe I've found the missing palisman" she says, pointing to Eda's hair, which is twitching.
"Ghost, I'll get you out." Amity says, changing her gauntlet into a long arm and reaching for Eda's hair.
"Hey!" Eda smacked away the goo arm." I don't use abomination goo products in my hair and besides, they're a total rip off".
" Ok then" Luz said , stepping up " I'm going in".
Standing on a stool, Luz reaches into Eda's hair and proceeds to pull out a carton of apple blood, a dagger, and a pencil sharpener, she tossed them aside before reaching in deep " I got her!" Luz crows , pulling out the palisman.
"Ghost!" Amity said in happiness and relief then raised a eyebrow " What's that you got there?" She points to the red stick in the palisman's mouth.
" Is that dynamite?" Luz gasps in horror.
" Oh, I've been looking for that " Eda said , taking the dynamite stick from Ghost and bit a piece off " Mmm ,Still got that flavor " she smiles before offering some to Luz "Want some ?".
" I'm good'' Luz smiles awkwardly, stepping off the stool before she remembers something " Amity, I've been getting better at my glyphs and check this out !".
After Luz gave Ghost back to Amity, she pulls out a glyph with a lighting bolt on it and actives it, now Luz has lighting dancing around her body and now, her hair is standing straight up as Amity looks at Luz in surprise " You've unlocked lighting magic " Amity says before smiling " That's amazing!".
Amity takes a step forward, only to trip on the pencil sharpener. " Amity!" Luz said ,catching Amity in her arms stopping her fall. But this also caused the static to go to Amity and Ghost, who was on her shoulder and the witches hair and palisman's fur stood up on end.
"What?" Amity said seeing that everyone was staring at her "what are you guy's looking at?" And she turn to look in a mirror " GAH!"
" Oh relax " Eda waves her hand " It'll go back too normal soon".
" Hmm" Luz thought for a second "Well then , I think we can all agree that there's one thing we can do right now". There's a flash of light and when it passes, it shows everyone smiling for a picture, and all of their hair, fur and feathers standing on end. After the static fiasco Eda, Lilith , Hooty and King stays down stairs in the living room to watch their show in the crystal ball while Luz ,Amity and Ghost ahead upstairs to enjoy each other's company.
