Honkai: Starting with Finality

Summary:

A routine inspection of her world and the nearby bubble worlds in the surrounding sea of quanta changed Kiana's fate entirely. All the way back to the start. Meeting a familiar yet wholly unfamiliar "Captain", she starts off on her new and bizarre journey with him to break the shackles of fate.

Prologue - A New Possibility

The bright, warm glow of the azure blue planet shone brightly above the futuristic, yet dull research building.

Today is Kiana's 10th month (judging from Earth's time) on the moon since she accepted the Cocoon's embrace and gained the Authority of Finality. It would be a lie to say she wasn't a little scared at the time when she finally faced the Cocoon and had to make a choice, after all, Kevin's situation then speaks volumes about the weight of its power and its consequences. But, after all, she wouldn't be a Kaslana if she just backed down in that moment in the face of fear—no, she dared to face it because it was the only best choice they had then.

The only choice they could make. Kiana's final choice as an ordinary girl just trying her best.

Truth be told she still feels a little unreal feeling the authority she holds, the great amount of things she has seen in the surrounding 'waters' in the Sea of Quanta nearby is already astonishing enough and she may probably never fully comprehend the fullest extent of Finality's power in her lifetime. What she could do already makes her truly understand how if Herrschers are the Apostles of God, then Finality would be the closest approximation to God itself.. if it weren't God itself already. And that power, for a girl like her who hadn't even graduated Saint Freya, is truly overwhelming.

Perhaps if she hadn't had as strong a willpower and mindset as she had now, then she may be the first to succumb to its power without the cocoon even doing anything to induce it. But when she remembers all the people who had helped her come this far, and the expectations behind them… then she suddenly feels that it's not so difficult.

As Kiana took a look out the observatory's window, she looked up at the stars and wondered if Himeko-sensei is proud of her now after watching her. If she was able to live up to her expectations even just a little bit.

Holding a slight smile on her face, Kiana then went back to seriously monitoring the surroundings of her World once more. The Imaginary Space nearby, the fluctuations in the Sea of Quanta, she has seen and felt many things in her short time observing the surrounding spaces and dimensions alone. Many things she can't even describe properly, not because of anything else, she just doesn't know the terminology.

But if she had to describe the many beings that she occasionally glimpses at in those spaces, then she would probably describe them as either monsters, aliens, or indescribable high-dimensional beings. Even she herself can't be sure if her vision is also of a higher dimension now with how she often comes across them while looking around nearby.

Although 99% of all Honkai Energy has been safely siphoned to the moon using the cocoon, and generally there's hardly any fight left to be fought back on Earth, but the same can't be said on those nearby bubble worlds that may often have connecting nodes on Earth, or worse, just randomly take people out of nowhere. Those are the real headaches, and it's also one such headache that got Seele, Senti, Prometheus and some others caught up that she's really having trouble with. Especially looking for that 'Sa'.

Kiana was helpless for that one, although she really wanted to help, but she herself can't move too much for fear of something going wrong with the Moon and even if she did, it's already hard enough to sift through all sorts of bubble worlds and areas in the Sea of Quanta just to find a trace of that Sa. Not to mention how sneaky that so-called 'Abyss of the Sea of Quanta' has been just to avoid touching their own world bubble. Although it's not as if she doesn't have a way to deal with it using her current understanding of her powers, but doing so rashly may just directly destroy those bubble worlds around there and it'd be really bad if she implicated Seele and the others, how could she explain to Bronya and the others by then?

So comes back to her just staying at the moon with a bunch of researchers and staring closely at the different dimensional spaces close by.

It was at this time, however, that an abnormality happened. One that would change her life forever.

Without any rhyme or reason, Kiana got caught in a spatio-temporal disturbance. It happened so quickly that nobody noticed it happening, and by the time people noticed, history had already been corrected.

As though… there never was a Kiana on the moon.

Kiana blinked and suddenly realized that she was on the Hyperion. She was about to get ready to fight until she saw the two people in front of her, making her eyes go wide in shock.

"You! You're… Ai Lambda!" Kiana shouted, pointing at her.

Ai Lambda just smiled as she stood beside the red-haired asian man wearing a uniform.

The man smiled softly as he heard Kiana's voice, as if he felt nostalgic all of a sudden.

"Welcome, Miss Kiana to the Hyperion. I'm the Captain of the ship Lin Mo." Lin Mo said, "Would you like to rewrite this story with me?" He stretched out his hand.

Kiana's thoughts spun rapidly as she took in the situation she got into. She could still feel the power of the cocoon within herself—no, rather, it felt like she had become the cocoon at this point already. Although she can't understand how exactly this happened, she could guess that it had something to do with this 'Captain of the Hyperion' in front of her.

To be honest, the first thought she had when she heard that he was the Captain of the Hyperion was of the so-called Ferryman and Mr. Assassin she could perceive through the Sea of Quanta in some distant Bubble Worlds from time to time, but after seeing Ai Lambda here, and also feeling the very ethereal yet unmistakable sense of familiarity from him, she could guess that this was a very different Captain. Rather… It felt like he was that being who had always been watching them, the 'third person' who had been following their stories from the start and even gave them the strength to fight against Kevin in the end.

The observer.

Realizing this, and knowing just how great his strength must be to be able to even come down in such a way with her barely noticing his true figure in the higher dimensions and even personally help her rewrite their stories to what they want, she couldn't help but be moved. Although Kiana didn't know why he suddenly appeared now, and why Ai Lambda also suddenly appeared by his side and pulled her here. But she knows that this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to change everything.

Mature as Kiana may be now, but no matter what, she has never stopped dreaming. And this time, she will truly make a beautiful story this time. One far more brilliant and more perfect than the past.

Grinning, Kiana stretched out her hand to meet Lin Mo's, "Of course! You can't count Kiana Kaslana out of this one, captain!"

Lin Mo laughed and nodded, "I wouldn't have it any other way, Kiana."

A/N: Well, Merry Christmas everybody! (Or belated if you're from the eastern part of the globe like me). As you can definitely tell from my account activity on this site... I haven't been here for years. I can't even remember the last time I posted here anymore whew.

Well, first off, I mainly used to write RWBY Fanfics, so what's going to happen to those? Easy but cheap answer: Indefinite Hiatus until I find out (or remember) what exactly I want to do with those. I won't scrap them outright, but don't expect too much there.

Second, for this new fanfic... well, it's gonna be a long story to talk about how and why I got into Honkai Impact 3rd (seriously I never realized there were so many weird similarities between the first few parts of it with RWBY it's actually nuts) so I'm gonna talk about it in Chapter 1 instead of here.

I just wanted to add this note here because one: I love Honkai Impact 3rd, two: I love Honkai Star Rail, three: much of my HI3rd lore/story knowledge mainly comes from some wacky english mtl'd chinese fanfics (which already explains why our SI-OC's name is as such, also with the title lmao). Anyways, I'll do my best to make this story as plausibly realistic as I can and also try to fill in the gaps of my knowledge through the wiki and various HI3 manga when I'm not busy.

Also: VERY IMPORTANT NOTE BEFORE YOU CONTINUE READING AFTER THIS PROLOGUE: This SI-OC will be OP. Not just the conventional kind of OP, but I mean, REALLY OP. The main perspectives of the story that'll happen in this fanfic will revolve around the MC's actions influencing the characters. So be warned. If you're not too into that, well, idk then, but I still hope you'd give it a glance and see if you find my writing interesting even if it's with such an archetype. Overall, I just wanted to share this since I've had this wacky idea for a while now and I feel that posting it out there for people to see and comment on would help motivate me into continuing this and taking it somewhere... instead of just rotting my brain away reading chinese-english mtl'd fanfics of this lol.

Lastly: I'll just warn you that this will most likely end up as a HAREM even if it doesn't seem like it at first. Although I am gonna write mainly for one heroine if Romance does happen, but with my style of writing and all that, it will likely end up as a Harem at some point. Kiana will definitely be the main one though, that won't change.

The next chapter (Chapter 1) should basically be up at the same time as this so just go look there.

Again, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone!
