Chapter Five
Back To It
A/N – First, I apologize for the delay in getting the next chapter but things have been hectic over the holiday. After the new year I hope to get on a more regular schedule. Well, I hope everyone enjoyed the look back. I had received several inquiries about the 5+ year gap so I thought I would cover some of the high points, which by the way will be part of the story moving forward. The Bordens had a great holiday, JT had an eventful birthday and oh yeah there was an engagement. Let's get the year underway as many milestones are on the way and as usual there will be stories in between. They Borden's life is defiantly different with Wyatt and Lyndy closing in on graduation, the twins living on campus at the family apartment, Maddie in high school and 16 years old as well as 10 year old JT rocking 5th grade. The family dynamic is different but they are still family, which is the most important thing for them. Amy and Ty are very proud of their kids but see that they are growing up and finding their own way. Even though they have more time to focus on business they are still committed to each other and the love story that is the foundation of their legacy. I have a number of things to get started on and as you all know, I will continue to let my pen go where it feels like. Mature Content – Enjoy!
RR (Reader Reviews Responses) – I have continued to receive review from readers I can't respond to, so I would like to respond here moving forward. Paul, Thanks again for the nice comments. I am still determining when the wedding may be but I know Amy and Ty liked the holiday time. And as for as leaving the nest, like their parents I think they may hang around for a while for sure, but who knows. M Taiawa, thanks for another review. I appreciate your comments and am looking forward to the ride as well. THANKS!
It was the first day back to school as Amy and Ty were elated that all the kids were there for breakfast. As they tended to the horses, they worked together cooking up a big breakfast for the herd. Addie and Annie would be staying at the apartment for the first time and were excited but a little worried about not being at home. Lyndy had an early lab so she was going to stay with them just for tonight and would be back home the night after. The plan was that as needed, Wyatt and Lyndy would stay there if their schedule called for it but since they both had work to do at the ranch, it wouldn't be that often. The twins still planned to come home every weekend and Annie also would come back for jumping practice two days a week but then go back. She was doing three sessions a week with Georgie to prepare for the Olympic trials and also practiced with the school team, so if needed, Wyat would trailer Theo back and forth with his truck. Maddie and JT still used the bus but overall the logistics of transportation were something they all had to stay on top of. Amy smiled as she looked out the window at the kids heading over. She hugged Ty, kissing him deeply. She whispered, "I really love those kids, but you are still my favorite." He laughed, "Well last night I seemed to be." She giggled kissing him again only to be interrupted by Maddie, "Geez you two, did you at least get breakfast done, we are starving." Everyone laughed and sat down to eat, having almost 45 minutes till everyone had to start heading out. Ty and Amy had very busy days so everyone helped cleaning up and went about their way. They had about 45 minutes Ty and Amy stayed back and sat in the lounge in front of the fireplace which was burning down to snuggle with some coffee. Amy leaned into him and quietly enjoyed his warmth. This was a place that meant everything to her and she loved begin in his arms. She sighed and listened to his heartbeat. For Ty there was no place he would rather be than holding the girl of his dreams. They had been together almost 30 years and married over 20 but he never missed the chance to hold Amy tightly. They both smiled as they realized that their children were growing up and becoming adults, with new paths to follow. But they each also realized that the family would always be together no matter where their lives took them. Amy had a vision of grandchildren on their laps taking all of their attention. Ty saw the kids take on roles with the company that would secure the future of the business and the family. She leaned up and kissed him on the lips passionately as they held each other close. Life couldn't be better. As they kissed their hands roamed a bit and the passion increased. Their breathless moans increased followed some gentle caresses. Amy giggled like a school girl and Ty held his breath as her hands wandered down below his belt buckle. He cupped her breast which brought on a moan from Amy as their cuddling increased. They were unaware of anything around them until they heard the door slam, jumping up, straightening up their clothes quickly. Georgie stormed in, "Amy we have a lot to do today, are you guys coming over." Realizing she may have interrupted something she joked, "Geez you two, do you ever let up, you need to get a room." Amy rolled her eyes, "Georgie we are in our house. We'll be right over." They laughed and as Georgie left they snuck in one more very passionate kiss. Ty whispered, "Till tonight my love." The filled their mugs and headed over to the barn.
As they walked into the office hand in hand Georgie and Katie were already waiting for Amy. Scott had also arrived already as Steven and Cass joined them. The meeting had been planned for a couple of weeks to talk over the 1st half of the year and preparations for the upcoming Board Meeting, which would be the first with Lou as Chairperson and Katie, Clay, Lyndy and Wyatt as full Board members. They moved to the small meeting room, got their coffees and sat down. Katie joked, "Where's the muffins?" Georgie started and went over the current list of horses on site at the Equine Center and the Rehoming Center. As she went over them, Ty, Steven and Cass went through the medical report. Scott had performed some surgeries on several of them and added his input. The also discussed the lead trainer for each one and Katie entered or confirmed all the information into the system on her I-Pad. These had become a great tool for the team and really helped keep everyone on the same page. Then they went over the preliminary operating results from last year and talked through the successes and some opportunities for change. Cass spoke up, "You know the demands of the Miracle Ranch stuff is growing and I think we need a third fully dedicated vet to join Ty and Steven. I am spending over half my time here and Scott can confirm the business at the other two clinics along with Llama care is a 4 full time vet thing. Ellie and Mandy are great but they need to be fully committed to the clinic needs, since that business continues to be strong." They all agreed and Scott added, "Cass is absolutely correct, the students and vet techs on hand are great, but I do agree, we need one more DVM." They all sat for a second, when Katie spoke up. "Well, I think we can all agree that Wyatt has been doing great and he graduates in June. If he agrees, why not move him full time to the ranch with Steven and Ty until then and make him the 3rd DVM once he is certified. Heck he can do all the stuff we need without the initials behind his name. And even with that we still may need to steal Cass from time to time, but not as often." They all smiled realizing it was a solution to the issue but Ty and Amy were quiet and Georgie spoke up. "Well, I think it is a perfect solution. Scott, you and Cass or family and bringing in Wyatt makes perfect sense and feels right. So, let's put it on the docket for the Board meeting to confirm. Ty can you talk to Wyatt about it?" He smiled proudly and held Amy's hand tightly, "We will and we want to thank you all for being there for him. I expect he will be very pleased to be joining us here." Amy laughed, "And I expect that Lyndy will be pretty happy too." The all laughed and talked through a few more things, including the University Clinical and troubled youth programs, Caleb's world including the ranch hands and a host of other things, including talking points for the Board meeting. Katie took notes and told everyone she would send them their way. As they dispersed the caravan arrived that they were waiting for a little early. A well to do family and reputable horse breeders from upper Washington state in the US just north of Spokane, was coming up with four of their horses for the team to look over. An SUV and Two trucks, each with a two horse trailer pulled into the ranch complex. The vehicles and state of the art trailers were logoed with Ridgeway Farms, Green Bluff WA, USA. Amy poked Georgie when they read statement below the name, "Where Champions are Bred." Amy whispered poking Ty's ribs, 'I have heard about the owners, we have some work to do."
As the husband and wife owners got out along with boy and girl, twins who looked about 20, Ty, Amy and Georgie headed their way after saying goodbye to Scott and Cass. Steven, Katie, Clay and Rusty headed towards the trailers to help their children unload the horses to their prepared stables. Per their request the horses were paired up in two double stables. Amy approached, welcoming them and a round of handshakes followed. Ty spoke first, "Mr. and Mrs. Ridgeway, it is great to meet you, how was the trip?" The man was rather stoic and the wife smiled speaking, "It was good, a little longer than I would like but the horses seemed to do well. We want to thank you for seeing us so quickly, I can't believe it was only a week ago that we contacted you." Amy smiled, "Well Mr. and Mrs. Ridgeway, that is not a problem, it is kind of what we do here at the Equine Center. Ty, Georgie and I along with the rest of the team are really excited to work with your horses. I have to say their bloodlines and competitive success is pretty amazing. And please we all go by first names here if that is Ok with you." Again she smiled, "Well I am Evelyn and my husband here is Richard, or Rick I guess. Again the husband did not talk just smiled tightly. After an awkward silence, Georgie spoke up, "Well, if you would like to get settled at Fairfield, feel free to head over and Jenn Stillman will get you to your rooms. As you request the stable hands that came with you will have a place to stay in our staff quarters, close to the horses." Everyone smiled and Amy continued, "When you come back, we will check in on the horses and talk over the plan we have. Your input is valued so during the process, don't hesitate to let us know how you feel and any insights you have." She looked directly at Mr. Ridgeway to solicit a response. Feeling he should respond to her directed comment he spoke curtly, "I have to be honest, I am not quite on board with this as my wife and children are. So, I will need to see what you have planned." He finished abruptly and again there was some silence. Finally Evelyn spoke up, "Well we will head over to Fairfield and be back, say in an hour or so." Georgie's answered, "Perfect, we will have lunch after we visit the horses and during our discussion. Will that work for you?" Everyone shook their heads in agreement and the family headed out. A combined sigh of relief from all of them and Ty spoke up, "Wow, he is something." They all silently agreed until Katie spoke up. "Well their daughter spoke to me as we were loading the horses. It seems that the fire that affected these four horses, really affected him as well. He trained all four of them since as you know he was an Olympic competitor in dressage and show jumping when he was younger. She said ever since the accident, he has pulled away and focused the majority of his time with the horses that were affected by the fire. Luckily, none of them were killed, but some were burned, it was a mess." Everyone smiled, now having a better understanding of what happened as she continued, "She said he was always a carefree and confident guy and they all hope that we can help the horses, and we can help him." They all smiled in agreement as Amy commented, "Well I think we all have some things to do, so let's meet back here in an hour or so." They all went about their business with these clients and their horses heavy on their mind.
The University of Calgary campus was bustling with all of the returning students. Annie, Lyndy and Wyatt crossed each other's paths often and tried to meet for lunch as much as possible. Addie was in a different part of campus, but she tried to meet them when she could. Since the three of them were in the same program they crossed paths often although this year Lyndy and Wyatt didn't see each other as much. He was in more specialized classes and she was planning to stay in the apartment a couple of nights a week since she had early classes and Wyatt was swamped with lab work. They each made sure that they found time together and always looked forward to their weekends, even though both were busy working. Annie and Jeremy saw each other a lot since they were both in general studies still and he spent the night in the apartment several nights a week as well. Addie and Desi, not as much but tried to as often as possible. Being at different schools was a challenge but they still found time to help each other study and be together. Ty would joke later that the apartment was the Borden B&B for family and friends both present and future. This final semester for Lyndy and Wyatt was going to be a challenge as they both were graduating at the end of the semester. Their bond was a strong as ever and they spent a lot of time quizzing each other, helping them be successful. Their life was hectic but they were excited about being engaged. But the dream of working together long term was the goal they both wanted and needed. Watching their parents work together and achieve so much was their benchmark and they planned to meet it. Maddie was more excited as most as she truly loved being in high school. Her classes were really a lot of fun but challenging and this semester, as a part of her curriculum, she would be spending every Wednesday afternoon observing the therapy team working with kids of all ages. She especially liked the preschoolers and thought that may be what she wanted to do. She kept her options open and of course got many opinions from friends and family. But what was making her the happiest was how she had a lot of time with Ricky, not just at school but at the ranch as he worked as a part time ranch hand. Rusty and Caleb even got him into rodeo, which scared her a little but she was Ok with it. Secretly, she hope his rodeo career lasted as short as her dads did. JT was also happy to be back as school, although he had a pretty great holiday. He had an amazing 10th birthday, got to see his grandma Lilly, was with family and friends over the holiday and got to watch his best buddy and his amazing sister get engaged. It made him feel all warm inside, especially since Wyatt had talked to him first about it and they both went to ask his dad and mom's permission. School for him was not only fun but was becoming a social experience. Having four older sisters who went through the Hudson school system had it's perks and his family was well respected. Trent and Shawna were as close to him as ever, especially Shawna who seemed to have the ability to read his moods, especially after he had an eventful sleep she always knew what to say. Even though she was a year younger in grade they were close and saw each other a lot during the day. Trent and him shared some friends but he also had another group of boys that he had connected with. But no matter what the three of them were always there for each other. Mallory called them the three musketeers. All the kids were excited about getting back to school. The semester would be full of events, competitions and school activities. No matter what they were doing they would drop everything if a sibling needed them as that was what was most important and what their parents had instilled in them. They each knew that whatever was happening to them, they had each other.
Ack a he Miracle Ranch the group just finished meeting, as Ty and Steven went to do workups on the horses. Ty took the two dressage horses, Fred and Ginger, named after the iconic American dancing duo from as Ty put it from the old days. Steven took the other two, who were jumpers, named Hope and Glory. It seemed the Ridgway kids liked to name the horses and always picked all of them. All four were from strong bloodlines and were extremely successful in their areas. As they did the exams, Amy, Georgie and Katie decided how to assign them. Although Amy was not handling as many horses, she decided to take the two dressage horses and was going to ask Ellory Whitepath and Haley to help. Ellory had been heavily into dressage as a youth and like her father had a way of reading a horse and it's needs. For the group, it only made sense for Georgie and Katie to take Hope and Glory, since both were high level jumping champions. They also decided to bring Annie in when she was available for obvious reasons. This was a highly valued client and they were paying top dollar for their services but as always, they would ensure to the owners that they were committed to their horses care. The group got back together to wait for the family to return. Jenn had just texted Amy to let them know that they were on the way. Ty spoke up, "Well, physically they are in really great shape, you can tell they are Olympic quality horses. There are no physical signs of scarring from the fires and it seems the reported smoke inhalation has been resolved." He looked over to Steven and he agreed, "Bottom line, they are in great shape so it would seem that the ball is in your court girls." Georgie laughed, "Isn't it always." Steven spoke up, "We did notice that all four of them seem a bit skittish, but really lean on each other a lot. Also the two pairs don't seem to gel well, so we think we need to keep the pairs together but separate from the other duo." Georgie laughed again, kissing his cheek, "Look at my husband, the horse whisperer." He joked, "Well I have learned a lot watching Amy and Katie." She scowled poking his ribs only to be interrupted by Evelyn Ridgway, "We are here!" The family approached as handshakes and greetings were shared all around. Evelyn laughed, "You guys seem happy, and Georgie why are you poking the vet." She smiled and in her usual way quipped, "Well this one is mine, well my husband and he needs to stick to the vet stuff. Sometimes he goes all horse whisperer on us." Along with their son and daughter they all laughed as the stoic Mr. Ridgway stood with his arms folded. Evelyn smiled again, "Well we heard this was a family business and as you may know, so are we. These are our kids, Richard Jr. and Eloise. As you may have noticed they are twins and just turned 21. They both are riders, in fact are scheduled to compete in Olympic qualification event in the spring, Rich is our jumper and Ellie our dressage champion." They both blushed. Amy spoke up, "Well it would take a while to give you the details since between Georgie, Katie and I we have 10 children, oh and I guess our husbands too. But the present group will be the ones working with you and your horses. We strongly believe that the owners need to be involved in the healing process once we determine the issues." The group acknowledged her comment and she continued, "This is Dr. Ty Borden, my husband and the lead vet here. Dr. Steven Weber, the one who was poked, is Georgie's husband and works with Ty evaluating incoming horses, treating illnesses and when needed performing surgery. We are fully equipped to handle anything here and mainly use natural herbal remedies. We believe they are the best for the horse and produce better results than traditional medicines." All of a sudden Mr. Ridgeway spoke up, "It's not common to have all services at one location, Dr. Borden, can you detail you and Dr. Weber's qualifications." Ty smiled, "Of course, Dr. Weber and I are graduates of the University of Calgary Veterinary program and are both DVMs. We also both hold certification in the US as well. Although well versed in all animals, we both decided to specialize in the Equine world and have earned several advanced certifications. We both have guest lectured at the university and Amy and I have taken our ways to universities and equine centers all over North America. In fact we were invited to France to work with an Equine center over there as well." For the first time, he almost smiled and spoke, "Well I would be remiss if I didn't do my homework and Evelyn and I are impressed with you and you team's accomplishments, but I like to hear it from the horse's mouth so to speak." The group chuckled as Amy introduced Katie and Caleb who had walked over. "Caleb here is over th ranch hands and his group will care for the horses during their stay. Caleb isn't blood family but we like him anyway." Caleb scoffed as he shook the client's hands. "Anything you need you just ask me, Clay or Rusty, who are my kind of supervisors." Amy went over how the horses would be handled talking through who would do what. When she mentioned Ellory, Eloise spoke up, "Is she related to Victor Whitepath? In school we read several of his books, he is like a legend." Amy smiled, "Yes in fact she is his daughter and Victor, was an old family friend and a mentor of mine. Ellory runs our rehoming center and uses her father's methods to help calm the horse and find them the best home. Lucky for us she decided several years ago to stay here permanently and is like family."
After the conversation finished, they headed over to go meet the horses. Ty and Steven went over the examination results and then Amy and Georgie detailed the plan moving forward. Mr. Ridgeway, with his son Rich, joined Georgie and Katie on Team Show Jumping as it seemed he was a show jumper years ago. Amy thought that he would respond better to Georgie since she was an Olympic champion. Evelyn and Eloise joined Team Dressage. Amy and Ellory decided to work with Fred but have the Ginger tied off outside the ring near Eloise. They felt that the horses were close and it may be of benefit for each of them to see each other. Amy started driving the horse as Ellory quietly talked with the two of them about what she was trying to do. Amy talked to the horse but quietly kept them updated as well. After about 30 minutes she spoke up, "Well Fred seems responsive to my direction and is following my commands. I need to establish dominance and get his respect. Only then can we join up." As she ran him around the ring, Ellory called out quietly, "Amy, look at Ginger, she is watching the both of you very closely. Are you thinking what I am thinking." Amy smiled, "We are going to try something you guys. It seems they are very interested in what the other is doing and I think together they can help each other. They have the skill but their confidence has been affected by the trauma of the fire." Eloise spoke up, "They have been together since they were foals and have spent a lot of time together in a stable and in the paddock. They always compete together as well and I have always noticed it is like the watch each other and get excited when the other does well." Evelyn smiled, "They come from the same blood line but have two different sets of parents." Ellory asked Eloise to help bring Ginger in. Ellory stood behind Amy and she asked Eloise to sit on the rail so the horses could see her as she noticed the bond between the three of them. Amy began again to lunge Fred and he stepped up immediately. After a few minutes Ginger joined him, right behind him just a little to the left. Ellory whispered over to them, "It seems our girl likes to follow her man." The all chuckled lightly as Amy continued to focus on them After 20 minutes, she looked over to Ellory and they smiled, understanding the next step. Ellory walked over to Evelyn and Eloise and spoke quietly. "Normally we would attempt a join up at this point. It is hard to describe but it is when the horse and trainer form a bond and trust each other. We are going to stop for now and tomorrow try to take the next step. We are pretty confident that these two are a couple in the true sense of the word and want to make sure both of them are ready at the same time." They shook their heads in agreement as Eloise whispered, I have seen videos of Amy and Georgie doing join ups, it is magical for sure." Ty had walked up and laughed, "Well watching Amy join up years ago with Spartan is why I fell in love with her." Eloise asked, "Who was Spartan?" Ty smiled, "Well he is the black horse on our facility sign and was the horse that she saved with her mom when she was killed in a car accident. Amy's grandpa decided to have Amy fix him and he is the one of the reasons we have all of this today. Spartan inspired her to carry on the family gift that has been passed down through several generations of her family." The women smiled warmly as Amy hooked leads to the horses and brought them over, motioning for everyone to come in the ring. She grabbed Eloise's hand and put it on Fred's forehead. "Ok, Evelyn I need you to do the same with Ginger. This is called T-touch. These guys worked hard and deserve a reward. T-touch is a method to calm a horse down and settle them after exertion or nervousness." She watched as they both did it and their eyes opened wide as the horses calmed leaning into them. Amy smiled, "We have done enough for today, might I recommend that you guys go give them a good brush down and a treat. I have a few more horses to work on but if you would like, we would love to have you for dinner at the house. You can meet some of my brood as some of them are staying at college tonight." Surprisingly, Evelyn hugged Amy and Eloise hugged Ellory both shaking their heads yes. She whispered, "Thank you and of course, anyway we would love to hear about your family's legacy." Amy smiled a little confused as Ty grabbed her waist and kissed her cheek, helping her realize what she meant.
As Amy and the team worked on their duo, Georgie was also in the round pen with Hope. Both of the jumpers were mares and seemed very close. Rich Jr. mentioned that they were literally born just a few days apart from different mares but had the same sire. Katie laughed, "Sounds like a busy daddy for sure." Mr. Ridgeway showed signs of a slight smile, "He was the son of my horse that I road when I competed. Chester was a champion, one of the finest jumpers in the northwest US. We have produced almost a dozen Olympic quality jumpers from his bloodline and these two are the current generation." He got quiet looking down and whispered, "I just hope you can help them." At that point, his son put his hand on his dad's shoulder as the girls realized why he was so stoic and quiet. As they watched Georgie run her around the ring, Katie leaned over to them both, "Don't worry, Georgie is amazing with horses and as you know she can jump. She will get them back on track, we just need to be patient." Just like Amy, Georgie realized Hope was quite the jumper and she responded well as she drove her around the ring. She glance over to Katie and spoke softly, "Bring Glory out, I want her to see this." Katie and Rich Jr. went to get her and tied her to the fence post so when should see her partner. Before he could ask Katie spoke to Mr. Ridgeway, "Your son told us these two were thick as thieves so we want her to watch and hopefully get what we are trying to do." The three of the kept watching as a few others gathered. Hannah and Noah had just got back from school and walked over as Katie hugged them. Hannah knowing she had to be quiet asked her, "Are these the two jumpers from America?" She smiled, "Yes they are sweetie. Let me introduce you to the owners. Mr. Ridgeway, Rich Jr. these are Georgie's twins, Noah and Hannah. As you can see our family has a thing with twins." They both smiled as the twins politely shook their hands and said hello. Noah spoke up looking at Glory, "She is really interested in what my mom is doing, are the two horses friends." Mr. Ridgeway realize how intuitive he was, "Well you are pretty smart, they are best friends and have the same father but different mothers. Hope is a few days older and they have been together their entire lives." Hanna smiled, "Wow a busy guy that father." Katie smiled, "Well the apple doesn't fall far from the tree." They all laughed as their attention went back to Georgie in the ring as the twins petted Glory and stood by her. Rich Jr. watched Hannah rub Glory's brow and asked, "What are you doing?" She smiled, "It's called T-Touch, it calms a horse. It's kind of a family thing." As Mr. Ridgeway watched and listened he realized that they had made the right decision and for the first time relaxed his shoulders and asked her, "Can you show me how to do that." She giggled, "Sure take your hand and rub like this, horses love it." Georgie glanced over at the happening outside the ring but continued to work Hope. He was responsive but seemed hesitant ad a little skittish. She looked over to Katie and motioned to have her bring Glory inside the pen but to keep her tied to the rail. When she did Hope calmed a bit. She smiled and while still lunging the horse she spoke to the Ridgeways, "Well it seems with all that happened, they still seem better together, almost like they are leaning on each other for support. Watch how Hope continually looks over to her and vice versa. Were they together when the fire happened?" Rich Jr. spoke up, "Yes they always share a stall and train together. The fire was about 30 feet from their stall when we got them out it was like they each wanted the other to go first. They inhaled a lot of smoke but otherwise were Ok." Georgie slowed down the horse and put a lead line on her. "Well I think we know what to do but they are done for today. Noah and Hanna, can you take them back to their stall and start brushing them down. Mr. Ridgeway and Rich will join you soon." They took them away as Georgie and Katie detailed their plan. Mr. Ridgeway marveled at how the horses responded to the young twins, "Look at that, It is amazing." Georgie smiled, "Yeah, they got the gene for sure." She mentioned dinner as well with just the Borden's and taking Katie's hand she smiled, "We don't want to overwhelm you with our groups yet. You need to kind of ease into it. Plus Katie and I along with our husbands have some work left to do." The smiled and shook their hands heading off to groom their horses with Noah and Hannah. For the first time in a while, Rich noticed his dad smiling. It had been a good day.
The Ridgeways arrive at the Miracle Ranch house a few minute early. Amy and Ty decided to have Maggie's for dinner and Lou delivered it a half hour earlier. Ty texted Lyndy and was happy that along with the twins and Wyatt, they would all be there for dinner. Lyndy, Annie and Addie had to head back but still wanted to be there. The kids knew how important this client was and were ready to put on the Borden welcoming charm. Amy and Ty greeted them as they came up to the porch as Lyndy kept the others focused on setting up the food and table. As the group entered, Wyatt and JT took their coats and Maddie took the pies that they brought. When everyone was settled, Evelyn introduced her family. The kids were very cordial shaking their hands. Ty laughed, "Wow you guys pretty impressive, so polite. You must get that from me." Amy poked his ribs and the kids scoffed, "Whatever, so let me introduce our family to you. "Lyndy is our oldest daughter and Wyatt, well we adopted him years back and they both are in their last year of college. Lyndy is in the Equine studies program and Wyatt is going to be a vet." Smiling she continued, "So now for what some feel is the weird part. They are together and in fact just got engaged less than a week ago." Evelyn smiled, "Well congratulations you two, that is wonderful." Amy continued, "These two are our twins, Annie and Addie. They are just starting their second year of university and are a semester ahead of their studies. Annie is in the Equine program as well but she is also competing with her school and is scheduled for an Olympic tryout in the spring. Georgie believes she is ready and happens to know the coach that has seen her before." Annie blushed as her siblings acknowledged her accomplishments. Amy continued, "Addie is actually in the Mechanical Engineering program and is really doing well. She has been tinkering with stuff her entire life and kind of oversees the equipment at the ranch and our old cars and motorcycles. We hope she plans to stay with us long term but as it is with all of our children it is their choice. Next is our Maddie, who is a sophomore in high school and our organizer and planner. She wants to be an Occupational Therapist and has been shadowing the therapy team at the high school. She is also the founder and organizer of our annual "Special Kids Rodeo, for kids with physical and mental challenges. It has grown quite big and had gained a lot of recognition and corporate sponsorships, including endorsements from the Prime Minister himself." Maddie laughed, "So Mr. Ridgeway, you want to be a sponsor. You guys can even come up and volunteer." Ty shushed her but surprisingly Mr. Ridgeway answered. "Actually Rich and Eloise have a cousin with autism, whom we adore. Let's talk later." She smiled broadly as Amy pulled JT in front of her with a hug. And this little man is our JT. Although he is only 10, he is already in the 5th grade. He is still deciding on his life's mission but is definitely driven, even though he is outnumbered with 4 sisters." He looked up at her, "First off mom, I am not little and second, Wyatt, dad and I know we really rule the roost here." As he high fived Wyatt, everyone laughed and the girls attacked them both. Ty interrupted, "Well enough of that let's eat. We are having the world famous Maggie's fried chicken and all the fixings. By the way Maggie's is part of our organization as well, Amy's sister as well as Georgie and Katie's mom Lou owns it." Evelyn spoke up, "Well we can't wait and your family is really amazing." Amy and Ty held each other and said in unison, "We think so." Maddie rolled her eyes, "Don't worry you'll get use to that."
Dinner was very enjoyable as the families really hit it off. Amy, Lyndy and Ty shared stories about the legacy of horse healers and the Ridgeways shared their history as well. Like Fairfield, Richard's grandfather started with one horse and built an empire that had produced multiple, regional, national and Olympic champions. The parents had heard of Fairfield and hoped to be able to visit it the facility more. Amy said that she expected that they could finish with the horses by the upcoming weekend and would make sure Lisa and Ben would take them around both Fairfield and Briar Ridge. Rich and Eloise wanted to see the Rehoming Center and visit the Llamas. JT joked, "Just make sure they don't spit on you." After they enjoyed the fried chicken, sides, pie and ice cream, the Borden kids took the Ridgeway kids to meet the family horses and settle them for the night. Amy, Ty, Evelyn and Richard sat in the living room having coffee by the fire. They asked each other questions about their kids and each other's businesses. Both sets of parents were duly impressed with both and compliments abounded. The briefly talked about the rest of the week until the kids made it back. The tired Ridgeway family headed to Fairfield and Lyndy and Wyatt went with the twins back to school in their car. Lyndy's truck was there so they would bring it back tomorrow when they returned. After checking on Maddie and a flat out JT Amy and Ty headed to their room. They were both on the same page and as soon as the door was closed and locked working their way to the bed shedding each other's clothes. As they jumped on it giggling like teenagers, Amy took the lead and began kissing him from head to toe, paying special attention to his lips, below his ear lobe, his chest and lower stomach and the area of his body that he felt the most pleasure from. She moved her lips and hands over him with an ability to bring him to amazing levels of satisfaction. He arched his back and moan her name as she stimulated him intensely. As he gathered his senses it was his turn so he rolled her over as she shrieked a little giggling. He began his caresses and kisses as well, paying attention to her breast, her lips and the area between her legs that gave her a complete feeling of being loved. She shook through several orgasms as his tongue tasted her sweetness. She moaned a little louder each time a climax came even having to put her hands over her mouth a few times. They both knew it was time to join as one. She opened up for him and he entered her slowly and seductively. She held her breath as he slid in and as always Ty had to remined her to breath. The fluidity of the motion was part of the joining as they moved in sync for a while. They both felt the need to reach the peak of their love making and in a flurry of thrust and movement they both exploded kissing each other deeply to suppress their screams of love. As they finished they kissed one more time with a passion only they had for each other. They each rolled to their backs breathing heavily and perspiring from their love. After a few minutes they gathered themselves and rolled into each other's arms whispering I love yous to each other. Amy sighed, "Well Dr. Borden, you never disappoint do you. That was amazing." He laughed lightly, "Well Mrs. Borden, we aren't too bad for a couple with kids in college. I'd say we are pretty good at that." She giggled as she got up to go to clean up. Ty put on a pair of PJ bottoms and cleaned up the strewn clothes and the bed sheets, laughing at where he found their undergarments. Amy came out in one of his t-shirts as he held up her panties, "Found these on the lamp and found my boxers covering my phone on the night stand." She giggled coyly, "Yea we kind of made a mess." As they cleaned up they climbed back into bed they told each other good night in each other's arms. As they were dozing off they heard rapid taps on their door. Amy got up, opened the door and saw JT, wide eyed and in tears. She pulled him into a hug and sat him down on her chair. Ty came over and spoke up, "Hey buddy, what's wrong, bad dream." He took a big gulp and spoke quietly, "Something is wrong with Grandma, we need to call Grandpa Max. I need to be with her." Both alarmed they held him tight as he sobbed. Maddie heard the commotion and joined them. Amy spoke softly, "Sweetie, we will call first thing in the morning." Happy with that Maddie took him to her room to sleep with her. Ty held Amy tightly, both worrying about what he had seen in his dreams, planning to make a call early in the morning.
