Pixal was starting to feel a bit freaked out.

Her high school courtyard was always crowded and filled with fellow high schoolers, but today it was empty. There was no one in sight. Sure she usually came to school a lot earlier than her fellow students... but still, there was always someone out of the courtyard.

Not to mention that Skylor had kept eyeing her with a knowing smile all morning.

This was starting to feel- how would fellow teenagers say it again? Ahh, right, of course- this was starting to feel a bit sus , if Pixal was going to be honest.

She ran through her entire database, trying to see if it was a holiday or an off-day from school or something- anything- that she wasn't aware of. But there was nothing that hinted in the absence of her fellow students.

Something wasn't adding up.

She walked up the stairs of Ninjago High and turned around, a demand for an explanation on the tip of her tongue. The words died on her tongue as she looked at her adopted sister.

Skylor was holding her phone out, very clearly recording her.

Pixal put her hands on her hips, glaring at her sister. "Sky, please. This is not funny. What are you up to now?"

Her adopted sister smirked at her. "Relax, Pix. It's no biggie. Come on, let's go to class,"

Pixal raised an eyebrow but decided to just comply. Her sister could be stubborn so prying out information out of Skylor was not a feat she was gonna waste her time with.

Taking a breath that she didn't really need, Pixal opened the school doors.

Pixal didn't know what exactly she was expecting. But seeing students all holding flowers and lined up against the lockers making a clear path across the hallway, was not what she expected.

She blinked, and turned around to look at Skylor. The redhead only motioned for her to continue on, grinning madly at her.

Not feeling quite safe with the grin her sister was wearing, Pixal continued on with a confused expression on her face as each student started handing her flowers.

Soon Pixal walked up to the end of the hall where there was a barricade of students blocking her path. She looked back at Skylor in confusion, but her sister only nudged her forward.

Just after she received the last flower, the lights in the building flickered, before turning off completely. Just before Pixal could activate her see-in-the-dark feature, a bright spotlight was shone in the middle of the human-made barricade. The group of students parted as a teenage boy stepped in the gap, illuminated by the spotlight.

Pixal recognized him almost immediately. Zane.

He was wearing a fancy dark blue tuxedo, his whitish-blonde hair neatly combed. He looked up at her, his warm icy-blue eyes locking onto her emerald-green ones. And then he grinned, before breaking into a song.

Pixal's jaw dropped as he started dancing and singing a love song. Behind him, the group of students, whom she now recognized as the Performing Arts Team, started vocalizing, singing, and dancing along with Zane.

Pixal let out an excited squeal. She then shoved her newly created bouquet into Skylor's hands and started singing and dancing along with Zane.

After doing a quick mental search on the internet, Pixal managed to find the dance moves and fall in sync with Zane. Despite the fact that she was singing, she couldn't help but smile at the blond as they both whirled around each other.

Just before the song ended, Zane twirled her around and dipped her down exactly at the moment when the song closed.

Pixal grinned up at him and was already getting up to her feet but Zane wasn't done. Still holding her in a dip, he asked her a question loud enough for everyone to hear.

"Pixal Borg, will you accompany me to the Winter Dance as my date?"

For the second time that day, she let out an excited squeal. "YES!" She replied with a little more excitement needed. Almost immediately, all the students around her burst out in cheers and claps.

Zane grinned down at her and cheered excitedly, almost dropping Pixal in the process. Thankfully with the speed and quick reflex he has acquired from his life as the Ice Ninja, Zane managed to catch her before she hit the ground.

A quiet silence spread across the hallway as everyone waited for her reaction to almost falling from her boyfriend's (BOYFRIEND!) arms.

But to everyone's surprise, Pixal only laughed. When she had finally got her footing, she wrapped her arms around Zane, giving him the biggest hug she could possibly give him.

"Thank you, Zane," she whispered into the crook of his shoulder. And she meant it, with all of her heart.

It had taken her a while to realize that she was actually more than just an android... that she was actually a being who was allowed to have emotions and allowed to actually be human, if that made any sense.

After a lot of conversations with her father, she finally had accepted the fact that she wasn't replaceable, that being human was more than having the anatomy of one. That she was human despite her robotic features.

And Zane... Zane made her feel human. Despite all his previous attempts to cancel his robotic nature, he made her more able to accept both her humanistic side as well as her mechanical one. He made her feel loved.

Zane's arms came down and wrapped around her waist, squeezing her in his well-known tight hugs. But Pixal didn't mind the grip, partly because she couldn't exactly get hurt by them and partly because she loved his hugs. She returned the force of his hug.

After a while, they pulled apart, both of the mechanical teens smiling widely at each other. "You're welcome, Pixal," Zane replied, smiling warmly at her.

Someone tapped her shoulder and Pixal turned around to see Skylor handing her the bouquet. She took them with a smile and turned back towards Zane. Giving him her biggest smile, she reached out with her free hand and grabbed his hand. She then burst into another love song,

The smile that fell on Zane's lips after she started singing made her entire day. With a wide smile of his own, he joined along, singing in perfect harmony.

To make a long story short, they were singing the entire day, and Pixal couldn't help but fall more in love with the blond teen beside her.
