Chapter 1: Am I Yusei?

Hello, I am the incarnation of Yusei Fudo. I know that's a big claim to fame right there but please allow me to explain. It all started when I was back in the, well, what I assumed was the 'Real World' anyway. I was watching a Yugioh video on the top ten synchro monsters in the tcg and generally vibing until I messed around with my Stardust Dragon deck before I eventually went to bed. Now I have had some crazy dreams before but to say I was confused waking up in a younger version of my body is an understatement.

I was currently looking at my face in the bathroom mirror, confirming what I saw in the reflection. My long brown hair with large curls was the same as when I was a kid, but with yellow streaks like Yusei Fudo's hair in the same spots. And my pale skin had a criminal mark under my eye like Yusei's. All in all I estimated my age to be around 16 years old, way different than my 22 year old body.

Trying to find out where I was I went outside to look for addresses or known landmarks and was shocked to my core to see some familiar sights, but not in the way I expected. What was right in front of me across the road at a bar's parking lot was a bunch of sector security guards with their duel runners next to them.

There was no doubt that this was the setting of Yugioh. But was this Satellite city? It didn't look as…desolate. So was this…the slums? I turned around to look at the building that functioned as my assumed home. It was a small square white little building with almost no outside features except a red door and two rectangular windows. As I tried to make my way back in I bumped into someone a bit smaller than me.

As I glanced down I saw two familiar looking hair styles. The first one had a blue head of hair with yellow 'banana' like stripes in the front. The second was a sea green set of curly locks with slightly lighter green hair strips extending down past the others. Obviously this was Yugo and Rin from the synchro dimension of Yugioh Arc V, but they seem about 12 years old . "Hey you idiot! Watch where you're going!" Yugo shook his fist at me, anger apparent on his face. Luckily I didn't have to appease the anger of the young soon to be turbo duelist because his friend did it for me.

"Yugo, please calm down. He didn't do it on purpose, he was turning around and since you weren't paying attention." Yugo had an embarrassed look on his face before facing me again. "O-oh,sorry Rin, my bad. I really messed up, I hope you can forgive me mister..." I gave him a nod, still a little dazed from the whole transported to another world thing. "Mato. Mato Fudo. And yeah, no problem man, I was just trying to get back to my home." I figured I would use my real name in combination with the Fudo last name. I'm not 100% Yusei but I'm definitely gonna use Accel Synchro that's for sure. I lifted my hand to point at the building in front of me and behind them.

"Sorry sir, we're just trying to find a place to rest. You see, the place we were staying was taken from us by some thugs and they won't leave." Rin explained that the thugs were a part of a duel gang called the magicians four, and Yugo couldn't duel them because his deck was hidden beneath their floorboards in the home.

With that info in mind I invited them into my (?) home. It was the best move I could think of to get more info on the current ongoings of this timeline and not stick out too much. Yugo and Rin sat down on a couple of kitchen chairs while I looked for some food for them. Unfortunately whatever force brought me here didn't think I needed much in the way of food, but I have a bunch of soda and water bottles in addition to a couple wads of cash. After handing a few assorted drinks to them I got to the questions.

"So…how did this happen to you?" As soon as I asked, Yugo took the chance to speak his mind first. "Those magicians four freaks broke into our house when we were gone shopping! We came back home as quickly as possible but when we got there they had locked us out, and even worse they have my cards in there. Hopefully they can't find them because I couldn't stand it if they started using my prized cards! We went to sector security but they blew us off and went to the bar over there!"

He angrily slammed his fist on the table. For a twelve year old he really had strength. Rin then put a hand on his shoulder to try and calm him once more, before speaking to me. "I know this is a long shot, and you've already been kind enough to us but could you duel them? I mean only if you want to, I wouldn't dream of trying to force you to help us."

I looked to my desk side and saw my duel deck and a modified battle city duel disk next to it which I assumed was mine. Yugo jumped up with an excited fervor doing a fist pump in the air. "Yeah! If you could just take their leader down in a duel then we can kick them out!" I grabbed my deck box from the table and shuffled through it, and just as I thought it was a synchron deck. Although I don't see a couple of my synchrons and most of my synchro cards. The only synchro monsters I do have are Junk Warrior, Junk Archer and Junk Speeder. That's not the worst but I definitely need to up my arsenal with more. And see if Stardust Dragon is around here, I would like my ace after all.

"Alright, I'll do it. Show me where they are." I saddled up my duel disk to my left arm and we headed out. On the way I decided to ask Yugo some questions to see if he had his ace monster yet. "So Yugo, what's your favorite synchro monster? I mean unless you don't use them." I tried to play it nonchalantly, getting answers casually. Luckily Yugo took the bait hook line and sinker. "Oh that's easy, it has to be my Clearwing Synchro Dragon! That's my ace monster!" He seems so happy to talk about it. I guess it is his soul after all, so it makes sense. "What about you Mato?" I looked back to him with a questioning look. "Uh?" Yugo looked up to me while holding up his index finger. "You know, what's your favorite synchro monster?" I looked down to the ground with a bit of a sad smile.

"Unfortunately, my favorite is one of my aces, but it's missing at the moment." Yugo gave me a shocked look. "Your ace is missing? What happened to it?" I looked back up as I had noticed our destination up ahead. "I'm not totally sure. It was with me before but then later it... Until then I'll make do with what I have." Not that I have a believable back story for why one of my ace monster cards is gone but hopefully they can help me find it. What would really suck is if Jack had it, there's absolutely no chance of me beating him without it or Shooting Star Dragon. Or maybe not considering that he's nicer in this universe from the get go.

Then Rin pointed ahead of us to a small brown and white brick house similar to mine but with more windows. "We're here Mato." I walked up and looked into the windows and saw what seemed to be four teens sitting on a bed watching tv. I knocked on the window and they all jumped, apparently not expecting someone to be there.

The fat one with green hair ran to the door fuming as the rest followed suit. As they ran out like rats I backed up from the window before I was surrounded. The hooded guy, their leader, stepped right in front of me with a 'menacing' look on his face. "Who the hell are you!?" I pulled out my duel disk ready to get started. "I'm here to serve justice to those you've stolen from. Here's the deal, we duel and if I win you all get out. If you win…" I held up my deck before I put it in my duel disk and it shuffled automatically. "You can have my deck." Upon hearing the ante of the duel Yugo stepped up beside me while waving his arms and shaked his head. "No Mato!

I can't let you bet your deck for us like that! A duelist's deck is their pride and soul!"

I held an arm up to stop him. "It's my choice Yugo, it's fine if it's to help a friend." Meanwhile during my and Yugos conversation it looked like the leader made up his mind. "Fine kid! I'll take you up on this duel! Hope you're ready to lose all your favorite cards! HA HA HA!"

Then we both shouted the ancient word. "DUEL!"

Leader: 4000

Mato: 4000

"Alright then I'll start this off. First I summon the Magician's Valkyria from my hand!" He placed the card on the duel disk and a monster that looked like a taller dark magician girl appeared on his field. ATK:1600 I was honestly excited, REAL duel monsters are right in front of me. But before my happiness could show the leader continued. "Now monsters you control can't target other face-up spellcaster-type monsters for attacks, except her! And then, I set one card face down and end my turn!" I placed my hand on my deck and closed my eyes for a second. "My move," I then pulled the top card off in dramatic fashion "draw!" I looked at my cards and smiled. "First I play the spell card Tuning! I can add 1 synchron tuner from my deck to my hand, then send the top card of my deck to the graveyard." I looked through my deck and grabbed the old faithful tuner monster of the original Yusei. I then send the top card from the deck and I'm in luck because it was Speed Warrior.

"Then I normal summon Junk Synchron!" The little orange warrior jumped onto the field as I placed his card on my duel disk. ATK: 1300 "Then when normal summon him I can special summon a level two or lower monster from my graveyard!" Junk synchron held out a hand and Speed Warrior appeared on the field by way of a glowing circle. ATK: 900

Yugo gazed at my monsters in happiness. "Yosh! Mato has a tuner and non tuner! That means he can-" My opponent finished his sentence with a shocked expression. "First turn Synchro summon!?" I smirked before getting serious again and throwing my hand into the sky. "I then tune my level 3 tuner monster Junk Synchron with my level 2 non tuner monster Speed Warrior for a level 5 synchro summon! Gathering stars will call upon a new force! Become the path its light shines upon! Synchro summon, let's rev it up! Go, Junk Warrior!"

Junk Warrior flew out of the synchro rings and did his iconic pose in front of a moon that shouldn't have even been there in the middle of the day but hey, anime logic. Still the coolest thing ever though. ATK: 2300

"Whoa! Hey, that's the monster on urgent tuning! Mato has a card like that in his deck!?" Yugo was definitely bringing the hype on my monster summon alright. Still though, it's cool that this world still remembers the original Yusei's cards. But now was the time to end this. "Go Junk Warrior! Attack Magician's Valkyria!" The leader pressed a button on his duel disk activating his face down card.

"Not so fast there fool! I activate my facedown quick play spell card Ego Boost! When a monster declares an attack, I can choose 1 face up monster on the field and it gains 1000 attack until the end of this battle phase! I obviously choose my valkyria!" His monster's attack points rose from 1600 to 2600. "Now what you fool!? What can you do when your monster is gonna lose!? HA HA HA HA HA!"

I didn't do anything…until Junk Warrior's fist met the magician's monster, then I smirked. "I activate Rush Warriors effect from my hand! During damage calculation, if a "Warrior" synchro monster I control battles an opponent's monster, I can send this card from my hand to the graveyard and have Junk Warriors ATK become double its current ATK during this damage calculation only!" I placed Rush Warriors card in my graveyard and watched as Junk Warrior suddenly had a giant fist of light form around him. ATK: 4600 "GO, JUNK WARRIOR! SCRAP FIST!" The leader of the gang backed up. "NO NO NO!" His monster exploded and sent him flying back to the house hitting the wall with a loud thud.

Leader: 2000

Mato: 4000

"I then end my turn with a face down!" I set a trap card and waited for the leader to get up. His gang tried to cheer him on but I could tell they were feeling scared of losing. Yugo however… "Go Mato! Do it! Kick his butt and win this!" Rin was on the sideline and even though she was the calmer of the two I could tell she was excited too. "My turn! Draw!" The leader added his new card and laughed hard. "Now you've done it! I play the spell card Monster Reborn! I can target 1 monster in my graveyard and special summon it! I special summon Magician's Valkyria and then I immediately tribute her to summon Cybernetic Magician!"

A white robed magician came onto the field in computer code and magical symbols before striking a pose with his staff. ATK: 2400 "Then I activate his effect! I can discard 1 card to target 1 face up monster on the field and that monster's ATK becomes 2000 until the end phase of my turn! I discard my useless Pot of Greed to depower your Junk Warrior!" Yugo leaned in to Rin to whisper to her. "What's Pot of Greed do again?" She just shook her head and sighed before focusing back in on the duel.

As his monster's effect took place Junk Warrior slumped down a bit and a glow of shadowy computer data flew down on him. (Junk Warrior ATK: 2300 → 2000) "Now go Cybernetic Magician! Attack Junk Warrior!" Cybernetic Magician threw an attack made of magic numbers at Junk Warrior and I activated my earlier placed face down trap card.

"Not so fast pal, I activate Synchro Deflector! I can activate it only when a face up synchro monster I control is selected as an attack target, I can negate the attack and destroy 1 monster you control! And since you only have one!" The magic numbers turned into a missile and flew away from Junk Warrior and hit Cybernetic Magician in the chest, making him explode into a million tiny shards of shattered light. The leader looked at his empty field and dropped his remaining cards. "I-I…I end my turn." (Junk Warrior ATK 2000→ 2300) I drew my card and added it to my hand before pointing at him.

"Go Junk Warrior! Finish this duel and win this!" Junk Warriors eyes lit up red as his jets launched him forward to punch the leader in the gut and launch him up and he fell back down on his ass.

Leader: 0

Mato: 4000

Yugo jumped up in the air with a raised fist! "ALRIGHT! That was awesome, Mato! You didn't take any damage at all! You and Junk Warrior are the coolest!" Then he and Rin turned to the leader and his gang, glares present on their faces. Rin was the first to address them and she did so with gusto. "How could you just steal someone's home!? You should be ashamed of yourselves!" Yugo chipped in his two cents as well. "Yeah, Rin-rin and I worked hard to get that home for ourselves and you just break in!? Why!?"

Instead of answering they got their leader up and started to skedaddle on out of here. Yugo started to give chase yelling some more before Rin stopped him. "Let's just let them go, Yugo, I want to check on our stuff. " As she said that she went inside their home and shuffled through their things. "Ah, you're right!" Yugo was quickly following behind her, presumably to see to his deck.

I just gave a little smirk before walking away. I was never the type to expect thanks after helping someone and decided to go home and think on what to do next.
