Summary: The year is 2552, humanity has been in a long war against an alien empire known as the covenant, all hope is but lost, but not yet...
Chapter: 1. "Cat's have nine lives."
Noble 6 made it back to the ONI tower the rest of the team was in, without Jorge (he died saving many, but it was in vain), he felt, well, a little depressed, to say the least. Emile and Kat were talking about the time she lost her arm about the time Noble 6 came in. Jun: Hey, you made it back in one piece.
Noble 6: Sorry i came back alone. Jun: Yeah, I feel the same way. Noble 6 then handed Jorge's dogtags to Emile, knowing they were frenemies. Emile: keep 'em, he gave them to you, I'll honor him in my own way. Heh, it's a regular family reuinion. Jun: Jorge always said he would never leave reach, tragic.
Emile: HAHA, the big man was sentimental. The rest of the team simply looked over in slight concern, wondering why he wouldn't be as sad as the rest of them were.
Carter then responded: He gave his life thinking he just had saved the planet. And that we should all be so lucky. Jun: Sir, is it true about Gauntlet, Red and Echo teams being assigned to civilian evac ops? Carter: Those are senior-level communiques. Kat was being very quiet, minding her own business as Carter wanted her to clear a link for him to talk to SATCOM. Kat: I hear what i hear, reason is why put Spartans on defensive deployments? Carter was feeling a little nervous, not for a clear reason though. Carter: I need that link to SATCOM Kat. Kat: Chasing it. But the consoles got more shrapnel in it than transcievers. But you didn't asnwer my questi- Carter: You want to know if we're losing? Kat: I know we're losing, I want to know if we've LOST. Just this little question made the team feel, a little un-sure of what would happen next. Kat: Colonol holland...HAILING US. What is he doing on an open channel? Carter: Weird... Let's hear it.
Kat was hesitant to do so because she couldn't gurantee an open channel being safe anymore, the covenant could track it at any given time. She eventually linked the signal with their devices. Holland, over radio: -In the south west quadrant of the city, over? Sierra 2-5-9, If you're recieving, I am AUTHORIZING override of radio securty protocals to link with this channel. The rest of the team looked over at the radio by Kat, confused on why he would make such a fatal decision. Carter: How long for a secure link? Kat: i cant gurantee safe anymore... Carter was feeling a little too nervous about the situation. Carter: Could the covenant trace it to us? Kat, feeling a bit sarcastic, commented: I could. Holland: Noble leader, this is a priority ONE hail. If you are recieving, acknowledge immediately. Kat was both worried and confused. Kat: Keep it brief. Carter: Carter here, yes sir... Jun: Sir, we got enemy movement. Multiple covenant phantoms vacating the area. And they're in a hurry... Emile: How often do you see the covenant retreating for no reason? The rest of the team was very confused. Kat: What the hell... RADIATION FLARE. BIG! Forty million roetgens... Carter: just lost holland, what the hell is going on? Kat was rushing her words as she made a horrifying realization. Kat: Atomic excietment scrambled the signal! Ninety million now! Carter: Source? Kat: Airborne, close... The team realized now what was going on, they just needed a confirmation. Carter: How close? BOOOOOOOOOM! Just as Carter said that, the covenant were glassing the city. Kat: THAT CLOSE! The radiation mixed with the blast blasted the window open and knocked the team over. Emile was the first to get up, knowing that the best chance they had was the elevators. The rest of the team followed him in. Loads of scrap, garbage and dust flew into the building, Kat had to put her helmet on. Noble team got into the two elevators and then pushed the button, not even deciding where to go yet. Kat then directed them to the best possible extraction point, a fallout bunker. Kat: first glassing? Me too. She looked nervous, shy and scared all at the same time, no telling what could happen. Kat was with six, the rest of the team was in another elevator next to them. Kat: Don't worry boss, I'm on it... Our best option is a fallout bunker on sub-level 2. Ninety-six meters North-east. We get orders from holland sir?
Carter: We're being redeployed to sword base. Jun: Sword? Covenant own it now! Carter: Which is why he wants us to do a torch and burn-op. Keep Dr halsey's data from falling into enemy hands... Kat: well, if it hasn't already... Carter: Maybe, but according to holland, the covenant are still hunting for something. Kat: Strange... Where does he get calling a demolition on priority o- PEOOOOW! Just then, a phantom overhead heard them talking, and shot Kat... Kat: AHHHh, Get inside. NOW! Kat fell over on the ground, luckily, the elite zealot shot her through the left shoulder. Just barely inches away from her head. Noble team started firing upon the Phantom, with assult rifles and whatever else they had, unloading their magazines within seconds to protect Kat from being shot again, limping to the door. Kat, in pain, shouted: YOU CAN'T SHOOT FOR THE OTHER ONE? Carter: QUICK, get inside noble 2! The doors closed seconds later, Those few seconds felt like forever since the shields of the zealot hadn't even popped yet, they didn't get to kill the elite.
Kat: That was too close... Carter leaned his head back, taking off his helmet. Carter: Kat, You got some humor, but that was too close for comfort. Holy shit... Emile: I thought i told you not to cut yourself. Kat was still in shock, the needler shot in the middle area of her shoulder and neck. QUICK, i need medical assistance.
OVERVIEW: Kat is one of the characters i like, although she isn't for a lot of people, i am deciding to have her survive, with one other member... you'll see sometime soon.
