The First Journey.

This is going to be a rewritten story of the Kingdom Hearts: The Journey Begins.

If you guys are wondering why I deleted it, it's because I really didn't like how I written it at the beginning, like chapters one through twenty. The summary was bad, including the grammar, and I didn't want to spend my time rewrite a lot of chapters. So, that story is going to be deleted.

The grammar will be better than before, and the story is going to be different than the one I wrote. Again, this is a rewritten story.

One last thing before we jumped into the first chapter, I'm still making a Fem Sora X Riku pairing, and this story will be T-rated. But it might change into a M-rating.

Enjoy the chapter.

Chapter One: Prologue.

Darkness.

That word caused her whole body to shiver a bit. Oh, how she hated that word since she was four. She was never a big fan of the darkness, not one bit. The darkness always scared her, like a cat afraid of water.

But she can feel it, the darkness. It was around her, like an animal trap in a cage and never to be released, as she slowly sinks downwards, away from the warm light and into the cold shadows.

However, just when she can feel a slight bit of coldness in the darkness, a faint light reaches her, making her body warm and relax. Whenever she sees or feels the light, she felt peace and calm.

"I've been having these weird thoughts lately…"

What is that sound she was hearing? Was it the water or was it the wind? What is that sound?

"Like…is any of this for real or not?"

She then felt the shadows around her shifted a bit, causing her to open her eyes a bit. She can see an endless stream of darkness, with a faint light shining down on her.

Her mind was telling her to scream because of the endless darkness, but she didn't. She didn't scream, she just stayed quiet.

As she continued to sink downwards, she felt the shadows stirred again, causing her floating body to move into a stand position, and before she knew it, she was now standing at the bottom of the endless stream of darkness.

She looked around, her eyes looking scared and cautious, not trusting to move her feet at all. If she took even the slightest step forward, there's no telling what would happen to her.

But regardless, even though her mind was telling her no, she took a single step forward.

At once, a flash of bright light erupted from where her foot was, forcing her to shield her eyes with her arms, while revealing a young girl.

As she waited for the bright light to vanish or even dimmed a bit, she heard a whooshing sound, followed by the sound of flapping wings.

Sensing the light diminished a bit, she pulled her arms away and looked around to see a bunch of birds flying upwards. Her gaze turned upwards where the birds were flying to, which was the endless darkness, and she continued to watch them, until they were out of her sight.

After a few moments, the young girl stopped gazing at the endless darkness and looked down to see what she was standing on, only to release a gasp that escaped her mouth.

She was looking at a round and circular platform that was green and made of glass. There were small, yellow circles on it, which were filled with woodland creatures, and there were also slightly bigger circles that were filled with seven dwarfish people. But what interested the young girl the most was the picture of a young woman display on the glass platform.

The woman was beautiful, that's for sure, and seemed to be a slender figure. Her hair was black as the raven, lips red as the rose and skin white as the snow. Her outfit was a dark blue, sleeveless top bodice with short, puffy, lighter blue sleeves with red stripes and a high, white collar that was standing in the back. For the bottom part of the outfit was a light-yellow skirt with decorated white hearts that went to her ankles. She was holding a red apple with a bite mark and her other hand was resting on her heart.

"What is this place?" The young girl said to herself, as she stared at the glass picture with wide eyes.

"So much to do."

"Huh? Who said that?" The young girl asked, looking around to see who said that, but only met endless darkness.

"So little time. But take your time…"

The young girl was confused. 'Take my time for what?'

"The door is still closed. It can't be opened…"

"What door? What are you talking about? And who are you?" The young girl demanded.

"Now, take a step forward. Can you do it or not?"

Not liking the fact that she was being dismissed and getting mocked at, the young girl growled a bit before stepping forward. But as she got closer to the middle of the glass platform, there was a ringing sound in the silent area, causing the young girl to quickly look around, trying to figure out where that sound was coming from.

"Power sleeps within you, waiting to be unlock and released."

The ringing sound got louder, forcing the young girl to look at the middle of the platform, where three separate pillars of light suddenly appeared right in front of her. A yelp escaped her lips, as she stumbled backwards in shock.

"But if you give it form…"

A sudden flash of light appeared in the three pillars of light, causing the young girl to close her eyes. Once the light was gone, she opened her eyes to gaze at the pillars of light, only to widen her eyes from what she saw.

She was looking at three weapons that were floating in mid-air. Each weapon was different. The first weapon, which was in the middle of the pillar of light, was a sword, a real-life sword that knights use during the 3000 BC's.

The sword had a gleaming sliver blade with a golden cross-guard. At the base of the cross-guard was a red circle with a black mickey mouse symbol. The sword also had blue, leather wrappings around the hilt, which the hilt itself was black, and the pommel was gold and had a sharp point.

The second weapon in the pillar of light, which was on the right side of the glass platform, was a magic staff with a light blue mickey mouse symbol on top.

The final weapon, which was on the left side of the glass platform, was a black and red shield, and like the magic staff and sword, it also had a mickey mouse symbol display in the front.

"It will give you strength and the will to fight."

The young girl didn't say anything, only to stare at the three weapons with wide eyes.

"Choose your weapon well."

The young girl looked at the three weapons, wondering which one she should choose. She first looked at the sword in the middle, liking the fact that the sword was real instead of a wooden one.

Without even realizing it, she made her way towards the middle pillar of light, intending on grabbing the gleaming sword that shines off the pillar of light.

As she felt the leather wrappings in her hands, she blinked a couple times and looked around. She was sure that she was standing in front of the pillars of light, so how did she walk over there without knowing it?

Shaking her head, the young girl looked at the sword that was in her hands and began to observe it.

The sword felt heavy in her hands, like lifting a set of weights…yet it felt good at the same time. She can feel the raw power radiating off the blade, and she couldn't help but look at the sword in awe. She liked feeling this kind of raw power, the power of destroying enemies.

As the young girl continued to observe the sword in a sense of awe, she heard the mysterious voice again.

"The power of the warrior. Invincible courage. A sword of terrible destruction."

The young girl stared at the sword in her hands, not even blinking her eyes. She knew what swords can do. After all, they have been used in battles, and they are either used for good or evil. The good for protecting innocent people, and evil for slaughtering people.

"Is this the weapon you want?"

"Yes." The young girl replied without hesitation, and the sword in her hands disappeared with a flash of light.

"Your path is set, young one."

The young girl couldn't help but grin at that.

"Now, what weapon would you give up in exchange?"

Losing the grin to become serious, the young girl stepped back to the middle of the glass platform and looked at the staff and shield. Since she wasn't interested in magic, she went over to the staff and grabbed it.

At once, a sense of weird feelings were coursing in her body and wondered if that was the power of magic.

"The power of the mystic. Inner strength. A staff of wonder and ruin."

The young girl stared at the staff weapon with an unimpressed look.

"Is this the weapon you want to exchange?"

"Yes." The young girl replied, and like the sword a few moments ago, the staff disappeared in a flash of light. The pillars of light also disappeared, taking the black and red shield along with it.

"You've chosen the power of the warrior. You've given up the power of the mystic. Is this the form you choose?"

The young girl was getting annoyed with the statements of the weapons and questions, as she replied one last time, "Yes."

As soon as that word left her mouth, the glass platform shook vigorously, causing the young girl to look around alarmingly.

To her shock, the glass platform was starting to shatter into pieces, and it was shattering with alarming speed. She looked around, hoping that the voice can stop the glass platform from shattering. But it seemed that the voice had no intention on stopping it.

All she can do was watch helplessly and depressingly as the shattering glass got closed to her, and before she knew it, she was now falling into darkness.

As she started falling to the darkness again, she did the only thing she could do.

She screamed.

She didn't know how long she was falling into the endless darkness. Was it a couple of minutes or an hour?

But nevertheless, she was still falling and screaming the whole time.

Her throat was becoming raw from the screaming and tears were pooling at the corner of her eyes. She was going to die.

'Please, mysterious voice! Help me!' The young girl pleaded into her mind. 'Please, summon another glass platform! I don't want to die!'

If the voice answered her prayers, it didn't answer because the shadows around her shifted a bit, and the young girl can see something in the distance, something faint and round.

She squinted her eyes to see what the round thing was, but since the shadows were shifting, it was starting to block her vision, making her nervous. How was she supposed to land on whatever she saw if she can't see it?

As if reading her thoughts, the shadows shifted heavily and the round thing she saw was another glass platform, similar to the last platform.

Only this glass platform had different colors and designs.

For instance, the new glass platform's colors were purple and blue, and the outer circles, the ones that go around in a complete circle, depicted a man and a woman dancing, along with a glass slipper that had a symbol of a heart on the front, while the bigger circles, the ones that framed around the woman's head, were filled with a white horse and carriage, a castle with three towers, and a crown.

Like the very first glass platform, there was a picture of a young woman displayed on the glass. The young woman was beautiful and had a slender, yet hourglass, figure. Long, golden-blond hair that was tied into a French bun behind her head, fair skin that was smooth and bright blue eyes that were closed. She was wearing a white, sleeveless, ballroom dress that further enhances the young woman's beauty, with white opera gloves, white-capped sleeves and glass slippers for shoes. She wore a black choker on her neck and a white headband on her head.

The young girl landed on the glass platform with her feet, making a small 'Click!' fill the air.

The moment she landed on the glass platform, a sudden flash of light out of the corner of her eye, making her blind for a bit before she felt a weight in her right hand. Recovering her vision, she looked at her hand and to her great surprise, the sword she'd chose a few moments ago was now laying in her hand.

"You have been given the power to fight. Use your power well and use it wisely."

The young girl can feel the raw power coming from the sword once again, but instead of admiring it, a grin spread across her face. But the grin wasn't like the grin she had a few moments ago when she first picked up the sword.

It was a sadistic grin.

'Oh, I'll definitely use this power well, mysterious voice.' The young girl thought, her grin becoming more wider and creepier. 'I'll use it well…'

"But there will be times during your journey."

A frown appeared on the young girl's face, replacing the sadistic grin, as she wondered what times the voice was talking about.

"Times for what?" The young girl asked.

"To face enemies."

The young girl's frown deepened from what the voice said. What kind of enemies is she going to face? Are they strong enemies or weak enemies?

However, she didn't had time to think about when she suddenly sensed something, something that reeked of evil and darkness, along with a sudden coldness that can drive away the warmth and light.

She slowly turned her head to the left to see a faint, black spot on the white, ballroom dress. She squinted her eyes while leaning forward to see what the black spot was, only to release a gasp and took a step back.

The black spot had risen from the glass platform to reveal a small, dark creature that had small claws, large feet that lacked any digits and a head that was the size of a soccer ball with two twisted antennae and yellow eyes that were glowing brightly. It was slightly twitching a bit and was half-standing/half-crawling.

"What the hell is that thing?!" The young girl shouted, pointing at the small, black creature with the sword in her hand.

"Don't be afraid, young one. Use the sword in your hand to strike the creature down."

The young girl looked back and forth towards the sword in her hand and the small creature, which was starting to walk slowly towards her, before getting into a two-handed fighting stance. She then rushed at the creature and strike it with a vertical slash and a stab before finishing it off with a powerful horizontal slash.

The moment the creature felt the powerful blow, it vanished completely, and a puff of black-purplish smoke took its place, much to the young girl's shock and slight bafflement. She was expecting the creature to fall to the ground, not vanishing in a puff of smoke.

"Excellent. But be wary of your surroundings. Enemies will not always be in front of you."

As soon as the voice said that, the young girl sensed two beings behind her and swiftly turned around to see two more of the same black creatures, and one of the said creatures sent a claw attack at her.

She blocked the attack with the flat of her sword and slashed the creature that sent the claw attack at her. Like the last creature, it vanished completely, and a puff of black-purplish smoke took its place.

She then turned her attention towards the second creature, and just as she was about to rush and attack, the creature suddenly sunk to the floor and began moving around.

'It can move around in the ground?!' The young girl thought with shock on her face, as she watched the small creature moved around in the glass platform before it suddenly risen to reveal its body. And that gave her a chance to rush at the black creature to strike it down with her sword.

"Good job! You're getting the hang of your new power!"

The young girl felt a wide smirk appearing on her face, and she couldn't help but show off a bit by swinging her sword in her hand, while feeling confident, proud and a bit cockiness.

"But while I am happy that you're using the power to fight, I must warn you too never be cocky at all. Many warriors ended up being strike down from being too cocky, confident and arrogant. They think they are strong enough to handle any problems, but they're not that strong to handle any problems. Not to mention, warriors underestimated their opponents, and that underestimation causes the warriors to be killed or either turned into the creature you just slay. Remember my words, young one, do not ever be cocky at all."

Eerie silence filled the endless darkness area as the young girl's mind was thinking about the words the mysterious voice warned her about, while the sword in her hands disappeared in a flash of light, something she didn't noticed. Was it true? Were all the words the mysterious voice just said to her true? Did many warriors ended up being killed from being too confident, arrogant and cocky? Or were the words just lies to trick her?

Too many thoughts…too many questions…and too many doubts…

However, she didn't had time to think about the warning when she suddenly, for some reason, started to sink downwards. Alarmed and panicking, she looked down to see a swirling, dark portal with a purple glow in the middle.

'No! I-I can't get loose!' The young girl thought, desperately trying to get her legs out of the dark portal, which was now starting to get to her hips, but the attempts were fruitless since not only she didn't have something to grab onto, but there were multiple dark portals on the glass platform that was completely covering the said glass platform.

She continued to sink lower and lower into the dark portal until it was up to her neck.

She struggled to move her body.

The dark portal was moving upwards.

She struggled again.

The dark portal had now reached her lower lip.

She struggled again but harder this time.

She tried to move her arms, but the dark portal's power and coldness prevented her from doing that.

The dark portal swallowed her whole.

She couldn't breathe, she couldn't see, she just couldn't do anything.

Her body felt weak and cold, like all the warmth and light in her body vanished without a trace.

And she continued to sink further into the shadows, where she will be in the dark forever without an ounce of light to keep her company.

Yet…she doesn't seem to be sinking into the darkness. She appeared to be…laying on something…like a platform.

And that was when she could breathe again.

She instantly opened her eyes to see a faint, pillar of light shining upon her, but she didn't care about the light as she was busy letting out puffs of air.

Once she got her breathing under control, she stood up and looked around.

She was standing on top of another glass platform with different colors and designs, which the colors were deep red and orange, and the designs had black and green thorns that were scattered around the platform. The outer circles were filled with red roses, while the bigger circles were filled with three people, which seemed to be old women.

The young girl then turned her attention to the young woman that was framed on the platform.

Long, wavy, golden-blond hair that went to her slender waist, fair skin that was flawless, and violet eyes that were closed, as if she was in a deep slumber. She was wearing a purple dress that hugged her body while leaving a part of her neck exposed, with a black choker on her neck and a golden tiara on her head. In her hands was a single red rose.

'How many glass platforms are there?' The young girl thought, a curious, yet suspicious, look on her face, while crossing her arms. 'This is the third one I've been on.'

Her thoughts were interrupted when she sensed something behind her, and she turned around to see the same small, black creature she fought on the previous glass platform. She quickly summoned her sword into her hands and got into her two-handed fighting stance, while glaring at the black creature.

'Just one?' The young girl thought with a raised eyebrow. 'Mysterious voice, you ain't giving me much of a challenge.' However, just as she was about to rushed at the creature, she heard skittering noises, and looked around to see more black creatures appearing out of nowhere. 'Okay, maybe you are giving me much of a challenge.'

Once she saw the black creatures moving towards her, she act.

She rushed at them with her sword raised in the air and by her side and began attacking. Her attacks were quick and powerful, and she made sure not to stay in one spot, so she would not get hit by those small claws.

After she finished slashing the last black creature and dismissing her sword, a soft, vibrated hum filled the eerie silence and the young girl turned around to see the pillar of light, the light she saw a few moments ago, moving towards the edge of the glass platform.

At once, colorful glass steps started to appear in a small, flash of light, and they began to extended all the way upwards to another glass platform.

The young girl stared at the colorful steps with a baffled expression before she walked over to the glass steps and began to walk on it.

"This better be the last glass platform I have to be on…" The young girl muttered to herself, as she climbed up the last remaining stair and began walking towards the middle where a pillar of light was, not before observing the platform.

The glass platform was mostly yellow and brown, with the outer circles depicted with different utensils and the bigger circles are depicted with a clock, a tea kettle and a cup, a candlestick and a red rose that seemed to be old.

Unlike the previous three glass platforms, two people were framed on the glass platform, a hideous beast with brown fur, a brown tail and horns that sprouted upwards and a young, beautiful woman with brown-hair, pale skin and hazel eyes. She was wearing a golden ballroom dress with off-the-shoulder sleeves and yellow opera gloves to match the dress.

The young girl stopped observing and walked into the middle of the glass platform where the pillar of light was.

"The closer you get to the light, the bigger your shadow becomes."

The young girl raised an eyebrow from what the mysterious voice just said, and she turned her head around to see…her shadow being four times longer than before. It almost reached the edge of the glass platform.

A surprised, yet shocked, gasp escaped her lips when she saw her shadow coming to life and she took a step backwards.

She watched as her shadow goes under a transformation and took another step backwards.

"But don't be afraid…"

She watched as her shadow's feminine body becomes muscular and taller. Another step backwards.

"You have a power…"

She watched as her shadow's feminine hands become bigger and more masculine, with sharp pointed tips. Another step backwards.

"A power to fight enemies…"

She watched as a pair of black wings flapped a bit on her shadow's back, and saw, with an icy sense of horror, a face that was wrapped around in twisted, black tentacles, which barely shown the small, glowing yellow eyes, along with a large, heart-shape symbol on the chest.

That is what it took for the young girl to turned around and began sprinting away towards where the colorful stairs were, but before she can even reach the edge of the glass platform, the stairs simply vanished in a small, flash of light, much to the young girl's great horror.

'NO! NO! NO! NO!' The young girl screamed into her mind, as she pleaded, desperately pleaded, the mysterious voice to bring the colorful stairs back so she can be away from this…monster.

Said monster was slowly walking towards her with an aura of darkness and coldness that made her stomach sick with nausea and her skin to crawl heavily. There was no way she can defeat this huge shadow, since the said shadow was four times bigger and bulkier than her body.

What can she do?

"Use the power of the warrior against your shadow, young one."

As if sensing its master's depressed thoughts, the sword the young girl used appeared in her right hand with a flash of light. She looked surprised and a bit hopeful of seeing the sword in her hands, realizing that she might have a chance to face her shadow.

'I get it.' The young girl thought, a smile appearing on her face. 'You want to protect me from this shadow, right?' A flash of light from the sword answered her question. 'Alright, sword. Let's work together.'

The young girl stood up and turned around to looked at the huge shadow, who recoiled a bit from seeing the flash of light.

"Alright, you big son of a bitch." The young girl said, now glaring at the huge shadow before her, as she got into her two-handed fighting stance. "You're going down!" She began charging at the shadow. "And you're going back to where you belong, in the darkness!"

The shadow didn't seem to like being taunted as it titled its head backwards to let out a menacing roar, which caused the young girl to cringe a bit. She might become deaf from hearing such a roar that sounded like a lion but with hatred and darkness inside it.

The shadow stopped roaring and suddenly pulled its arm back, where an orb of darkness, mixed with lightning, appeared on its hand before the shadow slammed the arm downwards to the glass platform. The young girl was terrified that the shadow's punch will break the glass, but to her surprise, the punch didn't break the glass, but it created a pool of swirling darkness with a purple glow in the middle.

'Now's my chance to attack it!' The young girl thought, as she rushed towards the arm, ignoring the swirling darkness she was stepping on, and began hitting the arm with quick and powerful blows. If she keeps this up, she'll defeat the huge shadow.

However, just as she was about to swing another blow with her sword, she felt something sharp cutting her legs, causing a yelp in pain to escape the young girl's lips before she looked down to the swirling, pool of darkness, where pairs of glowing yellow eyes stared back at her.

'The pool of darkness my shadow just did is summoning small shadows to protect its arm!' The young girl thought with wide eyes, before she got rid of the creatures with a single swipe of her sword. As she turned around, she noticed that the huge shadow had retract its arm from the glass platform, making the pool of darkness vanished, and slowly began to stand up.

"No, you don't!" The young girl shouted, as she jumped onto the muscular arm and began running upwards to where the head was. She jumped into the air when she felt the shadow moving its arm and strike the shadow with a mighty and powerful blow, making the said shadow moved back a bit.

The young girl landed skillfully and graciously on the glass platform with a thud and jumped backwards when she saw a fist coming straight at her. She readied her sword in the air and was about to charge at the huge shadow, only to have the sword disappeared in a flash of light.

Horror, shock and despair was on the young girl's face as she stared at the hand where her sword disappeared before she suddenly fell backwards on her rear when she saw the huge shadow loomed menacingly over her.

A pool of darkness appeared underneath the young girl, but she didn't notice as she continued to gaze at the huge shadow with a completely scared expression on her face.

"Don't be afraid…"

The darkness began covering her legs.

"Never fear your enemies…"

She turned her body around and tried to crawl out of the darkness beneath her and away from the huge shadow.

"As you hold the mightiest weapon of them all…"

Her arms were now covered in darkness, including her body.

"And don't forget these words…"

The last thing the young girl saw before unconscious and darkness took over her was seeing a pair of sinister, glowing yellow eyes.

"You are the one who will open the door."
