*My team, including Knuckles & Julie-Su had just arrived at the Crystal Dessert. But when we got there, it turned out at Metal Sonic had attacked the Unit & taken off with the Emerald. Sonic took off after him as soon as we landed. Tails, Bunnie, Huck, & I went after him. Me on a hoverboard. Sally & the others stayed behind at the Until to help the injured soldiers*
Sonic: PTHHT! Kicking up sand us cheating, ya jerk!
Abigail:*in her mind* We can't let Metal Sonic take the Emerald! Eggman already has one and that's more than enough!
(Third-Person POV)
*Meanwhile, back at the unit all the Freedom Fighters, including Knuckles & Julie-Su were helping the soldiers. Sally then got a notification from Nicole*
Nicole: Incoming message from Rouge.
Sally: What timing. Put her through.
*Rouge appeared on the screen*
Rouge: What happened, Princess? I was kind enough to give you a lead on an Emerald, and now the G.U.N. Unit involved has gone completely silent.
Sally: Metal Sonic attacked the Unit and stole the Emerald.
Rouge: Ugh, seriously? I told the commander I should be on any gem-centric missions . . .
*Sally gave a soldier a canteen of water*
Sally: We're tending the wounded now. But you need to send support immediately.
Rouge: Roger that. And Metal Sonic?
Sally: The G.U.N. Unit fought bravely. You and I both know how vicious Metal Sonic can be. I've got Sonic, Tails, Bunnie, Huck and Abby in hot pursuit!
(Abigail's POV)
*Metal Sonic used his V. Maximum Overdrive Attack to smash through any crystals in his way. Tails & Bunnie helped Sonic avoid it*
Metal Sonic: DIMENSIONAL ANOMALY DETECTED. POSSIBLE GENESIS PORTAL. POSSIBLE ESCAPE ROUTE.
*Suddenly, he did a burst of speed*
Sonic: Hey! Don't even pretend you can outrun me!
*He also did a burst of speed, kicking up sand at Tails. Bunnie fired one of her lasers*
Tails: PTHHT! GAK! Sonic!
Sonic: Sorry, bud! *suddenly, a purple swirling portal thing opened & Metal Sonic headed straight towards it* Oh,
*He grabbed Metal Sonic & started to fall into the portal*
Abigail: Sonic!
Huckleberry: Chao!
*I quickly went in after him before it closed. We all fell on to rocky terrain*
Abigail & Sonic: Oof!
*We all got up & looked around. We saw nothing up rocks & fire everywhere*
Sonic: . . . Don't. Whoops.
Abigail: Where are we?
Huckleberry: Chao-Chao?
*Just then, we looked up & saw Silver closing the portal we came out of*
Sonic & Abigail: Silver?
Huckleberry: Chao?
*He looked down at us & his eyes went wide*
Silver: Sonic!? Abby!? Huck!? *suddenly, Metal Sonic kneed Sonic in the stomach & swatted me & Huck away with his free hand. then he flew off* Oh, man! Are you guys okay?
Sonic: Yeah, fine. Grab Metal Sonic!
Abigail: He's got a Chaos Emerald!
Huckleberry: Chao-Chao!
Silver: Um . . . He's already gone. It's like he's faster then you . . .
Sonic: Lies and slander. "koff!" We need to hurry after him before . . .
*We looked around at where we were*
Abigail: I don't really think there's anywhere he can escape to, Sonic.
Huckleberry: Chao-Chao.
Sonic: Looks like it.
Silver: Sorry! I wasn't expecting anybody to come through!
Sonic: . . . Okay, dude? Bring us up to speed here?
Silver: I've been closing all the Genesis Portals I can find, remember? I was in the middle of closing the one leading to your world to this messed-up dimension when you guys and Metal Sonic tumbled through. With the portal closed, he's trapped here with us!
Sonic: Super! Except for the whole "we're trapped" part.
Abigail: Genesis Portals?
Huckleberry: Chao?
Sonic: Long story short, they're portals that lead to other dimensions. Created courtesy of Eggman messing with reality more than once.
Abigail: Oh.
Huckleberry: Chao.
*A holographic image of three dots came out of Silver's glove*
Silver: Hey, don't worry! There's three budding portals here.
Sonic: Great. Three random portals and you think one will lead back home because . . . *I elbowed him in the arm* OW!
Abigail: Just trust him. I'm sure Silver knows what he's doing.
Huckleberry: Chao-Chao.
*Silver started to fly away. Sonic & I followed him. Sonic running & me on my board with Huck on my shoulder*
Silver: Abby's right. I've closed a lot of Genesis Portals. I'm still not sure why, but I've noticed a high percentage of them lead back to your world and time.
Abigail: Most likely because our world is the Prime Zone.
Huckleberry: Chao-Chao.
Silver: Maybe. But like I said, I'm not sure.
Sonic: If these things are popping up all over the place, aren't you wasting your time trying to close them all?
Silver: It's . . . Kinda daunting, to be honest. But what if someone gets lost or something dangerous is let through? I couldn't live with myself knowing I could've done something.
Sonic: Good point. I guess I'd do the same.
Abigail: I think we all would.
Huckleberry: Chao-Chao.
Sonic: Kinda along that line. Do we win?
Silver: Win what?
Sonic: Fix the shattered planet, I mean.
(Sonic's POV)
Sonic:*in his mind* 'Cause, I doubt Eggman even feels an once of remorse for this mess he's caused.
(Abigail's POV)
Silver: I . . . Uh . . . Probably shouldn't say. Shouldn't pollute
Sonic: This coming from you?
Abigail: Sonic! *in her mind* Did he have to bring up the "traitor" incident again?
Huckleberry: Chao!
Silver: Hey! I did it to save my time!
Sonic: Yeah, I know. And we're trying to save everyone in our time! So a little heads-up would be nice!
Silver: Whoa! Hold on . . . *we stopped at a deep chasm with a pool of lava at the bottom* We're here. The Genesis Portals should be appearing around here any minute.
Sonic: Good. It feels like my every breath is on fire.
Abigail: And I'm starting to feel like my whole body is on fire.
Huckleberry: Chao . . .
Silver: It's better than the world that was completely overgrown with angry plants. The pollen was actually hunting me down! So . . . Do we have a plan?
Sonic: Yup! Metal Sonic went straight for the last Genesis Portal. That tells me he can detect them. We'll wait for him to detect these portals, and then ambush him!
Silver: Cool!
Abigail: Sound like a plan.
Huckleberry: Chao-Chao!
Sonic: . . . Except . . .
Silver: What?
Sonic: Metal is based off me, and sorta thinks like me. Which means he might . . . *suddenly, three portals opened above the lava. just then, Metal Sonic came flying in & attacked us with his claws. then he flew towards the portals* That punk . . . He's heading for the portals!
Silver: I've got him! *he stopped Metal with his psychic powers* HA! How d'ya like that, you - ?
*Suddenly, Metal Sonic used his Black shield to break free*
Metal Sonic: IT'S NO USE.
*Just then, Sonic kicked the Emerald out of his hand*
Sonic: And Metal fumbles the Emerald! *he went down the cliff after the Emerald. Huck & i followed him* Race ya for it!
Abigail: Silver, find out where those portals go!
Huckleberry: Chao-Chao!
*All three of us, including Metal Sonic, zoomed towards the Emerald. It was a three-way battle for the gem. Just then, when it looked like it was going to fall into the lava, Silver caught it with his physic powers*
Silver: Hey, Metal Sonic? You're too slow!
*Sonic then hit Metal Sonic with a spin dash & a kick, making him fall into the lava. Then we went to meet Silver*
Silver: Is that going to stop him?
Abigail: Not for long.
Huckleberry: Chao.
Sonic: Yeah, for maybe thirty seconds. He'll never stop. Any idea where those portals go?
Silver: Yes! Those two lead to other worlds, *he pointed to one of the portals* While that one leads to your world. It should be pretty close to where you from, actually.
Sonic: Cool. New plan. First, give us the Emerald, *Metal Sonic burst out of the lava using his Burst Shield* Thanks for the Emerald, slowpoke!
Abigail: Hope you like the scenery, 'cause we're out of here!
Huckleberry: Chao-Chao!
*Metal Sonic chased after us as we zoomed towards one of the portals*
Silver: Er . . . You sure antagonizing him is a good idea?
Abigail: Probably not, but it's fun.
Huckleberry: Chao-Chao!
Sonic: See, the thing about Metal Sonic is he won't stop. Ever. He'll always keep coming. And while I'll never give up either, I do know when to stop running.
*We all dodged Metal Sonic as he flew into the portal behind us*
Abigail: Close it!
Huckleberry: Chao!
*Silver used his physic powers to close the portal. Then he led us to the portal that would take us home*
Silver: Here you go. Your way home. Don't worry, I'll close this one behind you.
Sonic: Thanks, but . . . *he looked at Silver, who looked uncomfortable* I gotta know. Fixed or not fixed.
Silver: It's . . . Um . . . It's like my uphill battle trying to handle the Genesis Portals. If I told you that you do succeed, then everything will be fine, right? And if I said you're destined to fail, would you really accept that? Would you give up?
*Sonic looked at the Emerald & then smirked*
Sonic: Nah. That'd be just mean I'd fight destiny too!
Abigail: Besides, I just know everything will work out in the end. Like always.
Huckleberry: Chao-Chao.
*Sonic & Silver looked at me in surprise. Then Sonic smirked again*
Sonic: Let me guess, you just had a vision while I wasn't looking?
Abigail: Nope. Just call it woman's intuition.
Huckleberry: Chao-Chao.
Sonic: If you say so. *he turned to Silver* Alright, forget I asked. I'm outta here. Later, Silver!
Silver: So long, Sonic!
*Sonic jumped into the portal*
Abigail: Bye, Silver. Good luck on your mission.
Huckleberry: Chao-Chao.
Silver: Thanks, Abby. Bye.
*Huck & I jumped into the portal*
(Third-Person POV)
*Meanwhile, the Freedom Fighters, including Knuckles & Julie-Su, we're discussing how to find their teammates. Sally
Sally: had a holographic image, showing the members of the Freedom Fighters & their status*
Sally: . . . And we can't leave Sonic, Abby, and Huck stranded . . . Wherever they are. Tails and Rotor, you're to start researching a way to reopen that breach. Sonic said they're calling "Genesis Portals." Nicole and I will keep in contact with G.U.N. and look after the wounded soldiers until Evac arrives. The rest of you will come the desert in pairs. See if you can't find another Genesis Portal so we can -
*Suddenly, a portal opened in front of them & Sonic fell out. Abigail & Huck came out next, landing on top of Sonic*
(Abigail's POV)
Sally: . . . Or that.
Sonic: Guess who's awesome? That's right . . . Me!
Abigail: Ahem!
Sonic: Oh, and you guys too.
Abigail: Thank you.
Huckleberry: Chao.
*As soon as I got off of Sonic, Amy glomped him*
Amy: Oh, Sonic! I was so worried when you vanish with - *just then, she backed away from him, looking disgusted* Blech! Why do you smell like a fireplace!?
*I took a sniff of my jacket & nearly vomited. Huck & I also smelled bad*
Sonic: C'mon, we're teammates! Don't you always want to stay by my side?
Amy: I do, and I always will. But I'm keeping my distance until you've showered!
*Lacey plugged her nose as she stood next to me*
Lacey: Geez, girl. What did you three do? Roll around in volcanic ashes?
Abigail: Something like that.
Huckleberry: Chao-Chao.
*Sally waved a hand over her nose as she helped him up*
Sally: Welcome back.
Sonic: Thanks, Sal.
Tails: We're six-for-seven on the Emeralds now! But what happened to Metal Sonic?
*Sonic gave him the Emerald*
Sonic: Mmm . . . Don't know. Don't care, but we don't have to worry about him for a while, I'm sure.
Antoine: Non, but there is still ze planet being broken, and we have not even found one of ze temples. There is plenty to being worried about!
Bunnie: Gotta focus on the small victories, hon.
Sonic: Exactly! We saved some G.U.N. troops, grabbed an Emerald, and sent Metal Sonic packing! Abby, Huck, and I just ran through a world made of fire and misery. And now we're back here like it ain't no thing! We've been through some crazy stuff together, which means we're qualified to take on even crazier things! We're the Freedom Fighters! We can do anything!
