The Shadow
The Shadow watched as the Jaffa Rebel Leaders met. She was not there to spy nor to attack the proceedings. Simply to watch and wait. Her Mother had gotten word of a meeting of the Rebel Jaffa. More importantly, her fellow System Lords were going to attack the meeting.
Attack they did. It had been a slaughter. All say for two of the Jaffa had survived. To no one's surprise it had been Bra'tac and the Sho'va, Teal'c. The Shadow chuckled at the title the Jaffa now wore proudly. Ironic as it was amusing. Both of them moved with such coordination and grace during the battle. They would have been unstoppable had they been raised in her Mother's domain. Toward the end of the battle, the Old man had sacrificed himself for his younger protegee.
The Shadow waited and watched as Teal'c would switch his prim'ta between him and Bra'tac. It was a resounding testament to the Jaffa's character. He seemed to be having adverse effects. No surprise. Seeing Hallucinations. A Prim'ta would no doubt be pressed to the breaking point. The Shadow would have felt bad if the young goa'uld was of her brood.
Spectra, daughter of Serana, and the Princess of Whispers found the Rebelling Jaffa to be rather interesting. It was clear their movement was taken seriously now at least. The other System Lords were often slow to act. Her mother had seen this coming a long time ago. The Jaffa were a bunch of proud meatheads, but not entirely stupid. That is why her mother ruled as an Empress, not a God.
Spectra moved slowly, ensuring she was not seen. She could have her stealth field and sound dampeners on, but she would not need it for a Jaffa going through Prim'ta withdrawals. It was good to practice without the fancy tech once in a while.
Her suit was form fitting with small hexagonal armor plates interlocked like chainmail, enough for basic protection. It was set to a simple camo pattern, based on the ground and cliffs around it. The only non practical thing about it was the hood that went over the helmet. A small tube was magnetized to the small of her back. Her mother had specific instructions. To ensure the free Jaffa had a leader. It seemed now they would still have two.
She quietly approached and grabbed the tube. She held it down, the end against the Teal'c's stomach pouch. She opened it and a Prim'ta from one of her own bloodlines slid in. The batch the prim'ta came from had specific instructions and objectives. Even with the small chance it had to reach maturity and take a host. Spectra backed away slowly-
An alarm went off in her visor. Goa'uld hieroglyphs flashed.
Ascended Energy Signature Detected.
She didn't react and did as she trained others to do for centuries. She had mastered her host's body long ago. There was no visible change in her movement as she exited the gate. She would have to ensure the entity did not follow. It was hard to shake a being of such power, but it was not the time to deal with them quite yet. The Alarm went away as she exited the stargate. She still took ten more gates before returning back to a beta base. Her mission was successful.
She turned on the terminal in the base.
Her mother appeared. "Speak Spectra." Spectra bowed.
"Mother I was successful in securing the future of the Jaffa resistance." Serana nodded. She seemed to have something on her mind.
"Good."
Spectra tapped a code into the console and Serana's eyes widened slightly, and then she even rolled her eyes. The code was a signal that the possible Ascended beings were listening. Serana nodded. They wouldn't speak openly of the Ascended over a comm. Intelligence reported that Daniel of the Tau'ri ascended and could pass information along to his people. Spectra was bred to be paranoid as her mother intended.
"I want you to refocus your efforts on the enemy in Pe-, The Far Regions." Spectra was shocked. Was she being punished? Marking dormant wraith hive ships for orbital strikes was the work for new agents.
"May I ask why?" she asked.
"Because I know you will find the ships and cloning centers that the newbies won't. The Bounty of The Far Regions has been glorious in these past thousand years, it tipped the scales against our enemy. I fear that the Wraith may be waking up soon." Spectra understood. They didn't know the extent of the wraith forces. They could only glean so much from Wraith systems before they risked activating the hive security. Even then it only revealed so many ships as the Wraith factionalism ironically protected their species from being wiped out in one blow. It had been slow work, but necessary. The fact the wraith cloned their armies allowed them to replenish. Even worse it was assumed they may know that someone powerful was hunting them while they slept. Someone not their own. Serana's forces kept a wide berth of the Replicators and ensured the reverse engineered tech was implemented properly through the Empire in the Milky Way.
"I understand. I still would be of better use to you against the Tau'ri and the Enemy." Spectra found her daring to be uncharacteristic. Her mother smiled amused more than anything.
"Perhaps, but I need to ensure your sister doesn't outpace herself. I will not take you away from the heart of my domain for long Spectra." Serana smiled before adding. "My Empire may be grand and ever expanding, but it pales in comparison to the pride I see in the five of you. I know you will be the key to removing the Wraith from existence. Now before you go, Anything new from Anubis' and the System Lords' little war."
"Lord Yu is crushing Anubis' forces, Athena moved to take the territory you left for Baset. Olokun fell in battle to Anubis' forces." Serana seemed surprised but unconcerned. "Osiris is planning on coming to you with an offer from Anubis."
"Unsurprising. A little bit surprising. Hah. Now I wonder how she plans to get into my good graces. She is fishing for information. Ensure she doesn't have any devices with ancient or Asgard tech when she comes to meet us. I will need to gauge her motives." Her mother had that look in her eyes. "If an excuse arises, ensure her capture. It seems your posting to The Far Regions is temporarily on hold. Send one of your best to head the operation in the interim." Serana tilted her head in thought.
"How are the Tollan Refugees adapting to their new home?" Spectra was flabbergasted. They already had the tech better than the Tollan. Still their scientists were rather useful. No doubt the reason the Tollan were taken in was to deny them from being taken by other enemies.
"There have been complaints about their living situation. They lived a very pampered lifestyle and find discomfort easily." Serana nodded expecting that. "I have Caesaria handle that. Right now I need to reinforce Domina."
"One more thing, Mother." Serana raised an eyebrow.
"Yes Spectra."
"Anubis may be searching for the Eye of Ra." Spectra's tone was serious. It was dangerous to mention such information. To her surprise, Serana chuckled.
"Let him." There was an amused look in her eyes.
Spectra shouldn't have been shocked, but her Mother seemed a step ahead these days. Spectra's innate curiosity begged her to discover why.
"Spectra, Have your agent bring Magistara back with them after they deal with the Wraith. I need to meet with all five of you." There was a tone of finality in her voice like she had been weary of such an action. "Things are going as planned, but I should prepare for the possible eventuality that things may accelerate out of my control."
"Yes Mother."
The connection was cut. Spectra had to admit her mother was distracted recently. Domina described it as a sickness. As she was prone to bouts of isolation and melancholy. Had the sarcophagus stopped working? Or was it something else? Spectra would have to do her own research on her mother's behavior of late.
As of now she had work to do.
