Mario/Blaze and Peach/Amy

The two teams Mario/Blaze and Peach/Amy search for the cottage together. They walk for a long time. But still nothing.

- Mario: It can't be! Where's the chalet?

- Amy: That's a bit worrying...

- Peach: Hey, look over there!

Peach points to a chalet near a river of ice.

- Peach: You think that's the one?

- Blaze: It's the only one around. We've looked everywhere. It's got to be it.

- Mario: Well, let's go inside!

The group enters the chalet. There's no one inside. There's a desk off to the side and an unlit fireplace at the back.

- Amy: There's no one there! That means we're the first in! Great!

- Mario: Well, we'll just have to wait for the others to arrive! I hope they don't have the same problems as us and find the chalet!

- Peach: Don't worry, Mario. I'm sure they'll be here soon!

- Blaze: How about a warm fire in the meantime?

Blaze approaches the fireplace. The wood has already been laid. She only has to put her hand on it for it to catch fire. The others move closer to keep warm until the other teams arrive.

Wario and Knuckles

- Wario: Ah, at last I've found it!

Wario admires for a few seconds all that gold shining like stars before pulling out bags from nowhere. A good thief always has bags with him. He quickly fills them up as Knuckles looks on in dismay.

- Knuckles: So, you're just going to leave me here and take off with your gold? Good luck, because we haven't found the way out yet!

Wario pays no attention to Knuckles' words and fills his bags. He manages to take all the gold, making around 5 huge bags, which Wario has no trouble carrying. He's about to head straight for the road when he says:

- Wario: I'm off! Ciao, buddy!

Wario speeds off and disappears into the darkness.

- Knuckles: Wait! Come back here!

Knuckles sets off in pursuit of Wario. Unfortunately, contrary to what you might think, Wario is pretty fast. Still, Knuckles keeps running. Suddenly, a soft light illuminates the cave: it's the way out. Knuckles is surprised to find that he's outside, at the top of the mountain, very close to a deep and dangerous crevasse. He sees Wario and immediately stops him.

- Knuckles: Stop! Stop right now!

- Wario: Why don't you just leave me alone?!

- Knuckles: I told you! Because without you, I'll be disqualified from the trek! We're a team, we have to arrive together!

- Wario: And I'm telling you that I don't care and that I just want to run off with my beloved gold!

If Knuckles didn't hold back, he'd strangle Wario without hesitation. But the echidna manages to keep his cool. He thinks of a solution.

- Knuckles: Tell you what, Wario, I've got an idea. Hide your gold somewhere you'll remember. We'll finish the trek and once we've established the rankings, you can leave and I won't tell the others. Okay? All I ask is that you finish the trek. That's a good compromise, isn't it?

Wario looks at the bags and thinks. All he wants to do is leave with his gold. Despite that, he walks over to Knuckles and says:

- Wario: Okay, I accept. To thank you for saving me during the earth-quake earlier. But as soon as the trek is over, ciao! Got it?!

- Knuckles: Got it.

- Wario: Well, help me hide the bags under the snow and let's get going!

At once, the two team-mates hurried to bury the bags under the snow near the crevasse, the landmark. Under the snow, the bags are no longer visible. Knuckles rub their hands together.

- Knuckles: Right, let's go! We've wasted enough time!

Knuckles and Wario set off in search of the cottage. Wario takes one last look at where he's hidden the bags, hoping they'll stay put.

Shadow and Luigi

- Shadow: Would you like to explain? Because I'm having a really hard time following you here.

Inside the cold chalet, Shadow waits for an answer from Luigi, who chatters his teeth before taking a deep breath.

- Luigi: Ever since we were kids, Mario's always been the favorite. He's always the one everyone calls to the rescue, he's always the hero. And me...I've always taken a back seat. Sometimes it's really tiring to always be number 2. It's as if I don't exist.

- Shadow: Are you jealous of him?

Luigi frowns, both sad and embarrassed.

- Luigi: Yes...maybe a little. But...

- Shadow: But...?

- Luigi: I may be jealous and envious of him, but I can't stay mad at my big brother. In fact, I love my big brother. We've always been together. Mario has always been there for me. He's a great big brother, but he's also my role model. No matter how hard I try, I can't match him. Sometimes I'm even afraid of embarrassing him. I'd so much like to be like him...

Shadow looks at Luigi with a slight smile of understanding.

- Shadow: You know, Luigi, I think you're wrong.

- Luigi: About what?

- Shadow: You're wrong about your brother being ashamed of you. When I hear Mario talk about you, you can tell he's proud of you. There's also a great feeling of protection and consideration towards you.

Luigi nods slightly. He obviously agrees with him.

- Shadow: And I also think you're wrong to want to be like him at all costs. I often fight with Sonic, but I don't want to be like him. Our abilities are the same, but our personalities are different. And that's fine. Sonic is Sonic. And I'm me. I'm still me, no matter what, and I do what I want.

The words hit Luigi's head like a shock wave. Shadow has managed to capture his full attention.

- Shadow: Besides, you're fine just the way you are. Admittedly, you're a sissy, sniveling, cowardly...

- Luigi: All right, all right! I get it!

- Shadow: But you're a good guy. At least I appreciate you.

- Luigi: Really? Do you really think so?

- Shadow: Honestly, am I the kind of guy who doesn't say what I think?

- Luigi: Oh no! Deep down, you're a nice guy too, but you can't keep your mouth shut! Sometimes you're really rough!

Luigi can't help laughing out loud. The two team-mates continue chatting away the chill in the chalet.
