— Remus and Sirius —
"That's an interesting song." Remus' mother leaned against the doorway, eyebrows raised at her son. "I didn't know you liked this kind of music."
Remus scrambled for the record player, which had been quietly playing some Muggle rock music. When his shaking fingers finally managed to silence the music, he looked up at his mother with a hot flush on his neck.
"I have to say, dear, it doesn't sound particularly pleasant," Remus' mother said, frowning. She strode across the room and began to flick through his modest record collection. "Don't you have anything that sounds less angry?"
Remus winced as his mother handed a record towards him. Just from the sleeve alone, he knew she had chosen Celestina Warbeck's most recent record. It had been a somewhat unwanted (though, of course, appreciated) Christmas present, and as of yet, had not been played. He accepted it without argument and deftly replaced the record in the player. His mother nodded with approval as Warbeck's smooth tones filled the room.
"That's much better, isn't it? Why on earth would you be listening to that rabble, Remus?"
He shrugged. "The boys at school like it."
"Do they really?" His mother looked shocked. "They must be very angry young boys."
Remus couldn't help but disagree. Sirius wasn't angry. Well, he was a little bit. But Remus had always figured that Sirius had just picked the first Muggle band he'd come across and decided to become their biggest fan. Anything to piss off his parents, right? Silently, Remus wondered if it would've been the same if Sirius had first encountered some kind female ballad singer or pop artist.
All he knew was that if Sirius said he liked it, then he was damn sure going to listen to it. At least then they might have something to talk about.
