Naruto stands in front of Haku's casket. Her face is emotionless, but her eyes well up with tears. Friends and family members surround her, their grief is palpable in the air. Naruto's best friend, Sasuke, stands by her side, offering quiet comfort.
'I can't believe you're gone, Haku. How am I supposed to go on without you?' The blonde omega thinks her thoughts are mild.
Naruto's thoughts stop for a moment as Sakura Haruno, her other male best friend wraps her arm around Naruto, supplying a gentle squeeze of support.
"I know it's hard, Naruto. We all know you loved him so much." Naruto nods, her gaze fixed on Haku's casket.
"Let's go sit down" Moving her gaze from Haku's casket towards Sakura she catches Sawyer Haku's arranged husband and the bags under his eyes his slumped look, and his nose was still bruised from when Hinata hit him.
Naruto knew how much Sawyer loved Haku and she was the reason he was dead...the reason Sawyer didn't have his love...it was all her fault.
The sunglasses she wore fell off leaving her tear-soaking eyes pushing Sakura away. She left the room and ran through the funeral home away from everyone... to a place where she needed to feel safe before she would hurt herself.
The blonde girl breathed in a sigh as she clenched the fabric between her fingers where her heart was as she slid down onto the floor and listened to the soft pellets of rain against the glass-stained window, Naruto closed her eyes as she pressed her head to her knees trying to exhale and inhale slowly.
"There you are"
a voice said as the soft light that emitted from the door opening caused the blonde to raise her head her eyes widened at the sight of Sawyer, and she turned her head away in shame as the door closed softly emitting the dark gray sky to be their only light.
"You know everyone is looking for you out there" Sawyer looked at the blonde before softly sitting down next to her, he took out a flask from his pocket and took a drink enjoying the way it softly burned his throat.
Naruto turned her head to look at him, her light dull eyes meeting his similar gray ones. Before Sawyer knew it Naruto had pulled him into a hug.
"I'm sorry it's my fault that Haku died," she said, hugging him close. Sawyer couldn't help but cry as he hugged her close, his emotionless mask falling apart...it had been so long since he had gotten a hug from someone.
"It's not your fault Naru...Haku would have done anything to save you...no matter the cost" he said whispering in her ear causing the blonde to lean away as she wiped Sawyer's tears.
"Sawyer, I know you don't like me, but I want you to know that Haku cared a lot about you I know he did because the way he talked about you was something out of a romance novel I know he truly loved you"
The alpha male let out an amused chuckle before using his pocket square to clean the blonde's face, the dark gloomy scent of rain fluttering his senses.
"I don't hate you I hated the way Haku treated you compared to me, yes he may have loved me but he loved you more I was jealous of the friendship you two had and the love shared and I think Haku wanted us to bond that's probably why he would invite you on all of our dates"
This caused Naruto to let out a chuckle as she sat beside him her eyes focused on the rain as she voiced her thoughts
"but now we only have each other" At this moment Sawyer couldn't help but sigh as he watched the rain alongside her.
"Yes, but that's not so bad...you know Haku always used to say that-
"Love is like dancing in the rain, where every drop becomes a step, and every moment together creates an everlasting melody."
He looked at Naruto with amazement in his eyes "Glad to know I wasn't the only one listening to Haku's random sayings" Sawyer said as he took a sip from his flask offering some to Naruto smiled and shook her head.
Naruto looked at Sawyer and then towards his hands that were scared up. That look from deep cuts out only made her think about one possibility.
"How can you handle all of this? Like it's normal" Sawyer looked at the blonde then took out a cigarette to light and exhaled through his mouth.
"When you're born into the life of the Mafia, you have to expect the worst and try not to show emotion, Haku helped with that"
Naruto hummed slowly and laid her against his shoulder as she felt her eyes heavy with tears and tiredness. She rested her head, her eyes getting droopy by the second.
"Haku's gone...but I don't mind helping you out. But at the moment I don't think I'm ready to go back, you don't mind us waiting here, right?"
"No, it's fine...you just rest your eyes" she nodded, feeling sleepy by the second.
It was hours before Naruto woke up and when she did, she was laying her head in Sawyer's lap her eyes gazing at his sleeping face, she sat up alarming him he fluttered his gray eyes open catching her blue ones.
"Your parents came, they saw how exhausted you were and wanted you to rest. We should get going" Naruto nodded as she stood using the wall to hold her up as her legs were still asleep.
As the funeral service ends, Naruto and Sawyer make their way to a private room where Haku's parents' lawyer awaits them.
Naruto and Sawyer enter the room. Mr. and Mrs. Yuki, Haku's parents' trusted butler, sat at the head of a large wooden table, their faces etched with grief. A middle-aged lawyer, Mr. Johnson, stands beside them, holding a sealed envelope.
"Naruto, Sawyer, thank you for coming. Please, have a seat."
Naruto and Sawyer take their seats, their eyes filled with nothing, their faces emotionless.
"I am here today to read the will of Haku Yuki and Ms., Yuki, Mar, Yuki." Mr. Johnson opens the envelope and begins reading aloud.
Naruto, you were not only Haku's best friend but also someone he deeply trusted. As per his wishes, he has named you the sole beneficiary of his estate.
Naruto's eyes widen in shock, her numbness momentarily forgotten.
"Furthermore, both Haku and Mr. Yuki and Ms. Yuki have designated you as the owner of the Yuki family estate and all the wealth that accompanies it." Naruto's voice trembles as she speaks.
"But...why? I don't understand. I didn't expect any of this." Mr. Johnson continued to read Haku's part of their will
"Naruto, you were like a daughter to us. Haku saw something special in you, and he wanted you to have it all." Naruto's mind whirls with a mix of emotions. Grief, shock, and gratitude blend in a bittersweet symphony.
Mr. Johnson continues "In addition, Sawyer has been appointed as the executor of the family's companies and brands. Haku had full faith in his abilities to carry on his family's legacy."
Naruto's eyes meet Sawyer's, who stands against the wall, his expression pensive. Naruto stays still as everything registers in her mind.
Kushina speaks softly as she comes wrapping her arms around the small blonde "Naru, sweetheart, we're here for you. We know this is hard." Naruto's eyes darted between her parents, her gaze filled with confusion and numbness.
"I don't understand... Why did they leave me this will?" Minato stands by his daughter as he moves a stan from Naruto's face "They left it to you because they trusted you, my love. They believed in you."
Naruto shakes her head, unable to understand the weight of her friend's passing.
"But... but I can't understand. Why did they have to go? Why did they have to leave me?"
Kushina reaches out to comfort her daughter, but Naruto pushes her away, her pain turning into anger.
"No! Just leave me alone! I can't deal with this!" Naruto storms out of the room, leaving her parents standing there, their hearts breaking.
Days passed, and Naruto's parents led her to a secret room hidden behind a bookshelf. The room is filled with monitors displaying footage of dangerous events, illegal activities, and powerful figures. Minato and Kushina, stern-looking individuals, stand in the center of the room, surrounded by their loyal subordinates.
"Naruto, welcome to our world. We are the leaders of the Mafia, and we protect what is ours." Minato said in pride as he wrapped his arm around Naruto with a smirk that could kill...Naruto had gotten the same feeling she got the day she found the bookshelf The scene before her.
Naruto says in disbelief "This... this can't be real. I knew Sakura was a part of this but Sakura...Into... Shikamaru... were you too? How could they be a part of this?" Struggling to hide her emotions, Naruto keeps a brave face as she processes the unimaginable truth.
Day by day her parents were so happy about her knowing about the family business, but all Naruto felt was sadness. She tries to show as little emotion as possible, but despite all of this her parents still won't let Naruto go to school.
Despite having her friends visit and pretend everything never happened, Naruto still feels lonely. Naruto thinks she can talk to Sawyer, but he is busy looking for colleges despite being 17 years old. Hinata was also there, but things had only worsened. It seemed that her family had been heavily involved in conflicting relations with the Taketori clan since she was the target.
And it was difficult to sneak around with a phone because she still couldn't use one.
Later that same day Naruto sits on her grandmother's couch, her head buried in her hands. Tsunade, a wise and compassionate woman, sits beside her, offering comfort as she strokes her blonde-growing locks.
"I know this is overwhelming, dear. But your parents decided to protect you." Naruto looks up, her eyes filled with tears and her voice trembles.
"But... Why does everyone I love to have to leave? First, my friends, and now you and that pervy sage?"
Tsunade's expression softens, and she holds Naruto's hand tightly.
"Naru, your grandfather, and I have to embark on this business trip to fulfill our duties. But we promise we'll be back. But if you want you can come with us." Naruto's tears flow freely now, and she clings to her grandmother, seeking solace in her embrace.
Naruto whispered "Thank you, Baa-chan... I don't know what I'd do without you." Tsunade held Naruto even tighter, offering strength and love in this difficult time.
"Now I just have to tell your parents that's going to be a tough job", this caused Naruto to laugh as she hugged Tsunade.
Harder than anyone ever thought because once Tsunade and Jiraiya talked to Naruto's parents they flipped and told Naruto's godparents who made it a bigger deal than it was already is...and then her uncle visited Kushina's brother Kurama who what a joy now they were all spending the night at Naruto's house in guest rooms.
It was late at night when she found her parents talking with her grandparents and it didn't sound as enjoyable because they were practically yelling.
Naruto stood in the doorway, her heart pounding as she listened to the heated conversation. She had known about her grandparents' plan to embark on a five-year trip but hadn't realized the impact it would have on her parents. Their voices filled the air, filled with worry, frustration, and sadness.
"I can't believe you're seriously considering this," Kushina exclaimed, her voice trembling. "Leaving for five years? How can we be apart for that long?"
Her father's voice, laced with determination, responded, "We've discussed this, dear." It's an opportunity for Naruto to learn about our family history and learn how to fight and defend herself. We can't miss it."
"But what about her education, her friends, her life here?" Kushina's spat tears. "She's just entering her teenage years. This trip could disrupt everything."
In their normally calm, composed voices, Tsunade and Jiraiya had a hint of guilt as they explained, "We understand your concerns, but this journey means a lot to us. We want to share our heritage, our stories, with Naruto. It's a chance for her to connect with her roots."
Silence settled in the room as the decision weight hung in the air. Jiraiya stepped forward, his voice calm but determined. "I appreciate your intentions, but this is a decision that affects us all. Can we find a compromise that allows her to experience this adventure without sacrificing everything she has here?"
His words broke the tension, and the room fell into contemplative silence. Naruto's parents exchanged glances, realizing the importance of their daughter's perspective.
After a moment, Kushina spoke softly, "Perhaps we can work out a plan where Naruto can join an online school while she learns medical skills from you. That way, she'll experience the journey without disrupting your life here."
"That sounds like a fair compromise. I know Naru wants to explore and learn, but I also want to nurture the connections she has made here."
As the family continued their discussion, the atmosphere shifted from tension to understanding. Naruto realized that, through open communication and empathy, they could find a solution that satisfied everyone's needs. It would take compromise and adjustment, but together, they would make this journey a truly enriching experience for Naruto, her parents, and her grandparents.
Naruto's eyes brightened with hope, and she nodded gratefully. She left the hallway feeling a deep sense of relief fill her as she looked at the text, she received from Hinata, her heart pounding by the second.
I'll wait inside the flower passage
Nodding to herself, Naruto stepped back into her room and glanced nervously at her bedroom door. She made sure her parents and bodyguards were occupied.
With her heart pounding, Naruto tiptoed across her room, careful not to sound. She pushed aside her heavy curtains, revealing a hidden passage concealed within her garden. Her parents had put in a garden with more people gardening it since they found out Naruto snuck out with Halu. The path was overgrown with ivy and wildflowers, some of her favorite dark blues and greens.
As she ventured into the secret tunnels, the dim light filtering through the foliage illuminated her way. Each step brought her closer to freedom, excitement mingling with trepidation. Naruto had never done anything like this before, and the rebellion thrill coursed through her veins.
Appearing from the green maze, Naruto found herself in a moonlit clearing. The soft rustling of leaves and the distant chirping of crickets created a symphony of nature, lending an enchanting atmosphere to the rendezvous.
Her baby blue eyes scanned the area until they landed on the street signs at the end of her street. While walking towards her school, Naruto rounded the corner where a hidden passage was hidden before disappearing into the leaves. Her heart stopped when she realized it was the Alpha she had been yearning to see. His warm smile and sparkling lavender eyes mirrored her excitement.
As she approached him, the silence flowed effortlessly, filling the air with secrets of silence. Naruto felt a connection she had never experienced before. In a way, Hinata felt the same but the growing feeling in his stomach said otherwise.
"I'm leaving," Naruto said, her loose blonde hair flowing in the wind. The sudden chill that ran down her spine caused her to shiver slightly.
Hinata froze, staring at the blonde before him. Seeing her shiver, he took off his jacket to give to the blonde whose cheeks were tinted red from the cool air.
