Pomni's vision felt very fuzzy. She could vaguely see the shape of Ragatha as she attempted to wake her up from her fainting, which was from the mistletoe incident.
"Pomni…Pomni!" She could hear Ragatha shouting.
"Wow Dollface… you sure showed me how to kiss someone," Jax said with a sly smirk. "You made Pomni faint."
"Don't make this situation worse," Ragatha said. Pomni finally came around, and her vision cleared.
"What…happened?" Pomni asked, and Ragatha pulled her into a hug.
"Pomni! Thank goodness you're okay," Ragatha says. "I'm sorry, I didn't think you would do that."
"Sounds like someone is head over heels for the Ragdoll," Jax teased, and Ragatha pushed him out of frame.
"I'm sorry Ragatha," Pomni said, rubbing her arm. "I don't know what came over me."
"It's okay Pomni," Ragatha said, comfortingly. "I will try to be more careful next time."
Pomni stood up and saw Gangle and Kinger trying to sing Carol of the Bells. Gangle was singing the actual words, while Kinger was going 'ding dong, ding dong'.
"They are so in sync," Pomni commented.
"Being paired together by force does that to you," Jax says. "Anyway, Do you guys smell something…chocolatey?"
The three of them took a whiff of the air, and were hit with the sweet smell of warm chocolate.
"That smells really good," Ragatha said, when suddenly Caine and Bubble came in with a tray that had 8 cups of hot cocoa.
"Made with all the Christmas cheer I am legally allowed to give," Bubble says. Everyone grabbed a mug to enjoy. Pomni took one sip and almost immediately burned her tongue.
"Careful, it's hot," Caine warned.
"You can still burn your tongue here?!" Pomni asked, Jax chuckling.
"We're not a hundred percent immune to pain," Jax says, blowing his cocoa so he doesn't make the same mistake as Pomni.
"Can I get some marshmallows?" Gangle asked, and Caine threw a comically large marshmallow in her direction.
"Can I get some, too?" Kinger asked as well. Caine threw another marshmallow his way, and while Kinger fell over from being hit by the marshmallow, the mug survived.
"Thanks," Kinger says, his face now full of marshmallow.
Ragatha took a sip of the cocoa, and was hit with a wave of nostalgia, as if she'd tasted this combination of chocolate, milk, and marshmallows before.
"How did you make this?" Ragatha said.
"Oh, it's just an old family recipe," Caine said, waving off her question like it wasn't anything special, before holding up a paper containing a recipe. On the paper, Kaufmo's name had been clearly crossed out and replaced with Caine's name.
"Now, enjoy your cocoa because today we're going to be taking our annual Christmas photo!" Caine announced. Only Ragatha cheered while everyone else groaned.
"Please don't make us wear the sweaters again," Jax said.
Cut to everyone wearing matching Christmas sweaters.
"GOD D#%MIT" Jax shouted, and Ragatha chuckled.
"Ragtha?" Pomni asked. "Why does Caine make us wear these?"
"He wants all of us to match for the photo," Ragatha answered. "We take two photos every year: One with and without the sweaters. It's what makes this holiday special."
Pomni nodded. She looked over at Caine as he was setting up the camera. She missed her old life, and wished she could remember who she once was. Did her past self love Christmas? Did she enjoy spending the holidays with her friends? Who were her friends?
If Pomni dwelled on it any longer, she could've abstracted then and there, but Caine's voice was what drew her back.
"Alright everyone, squeeze in!" Caine said. He flew over and assembled everyone by height: tallest in the back, shortest in the front. With the press of a button on the camera, the timer began, and he flew back to the crew.
"Everyone, say: Digital Christmas!" Caine said.
"Digital Christmas!" Everyone shouted, some with little enthusiasm, and some with so much enthusiasm.
FLASH!
"Now without the sweaters," Caine says. One snap, and everyone was in their holiday clothes again.
FLASH!
Caine quickly passed everyone a copy of the photo so they could gawk at it.
"Pomni, why do you look so worried in these pictures?" Ragatha asked as she looked at her copy.
"I've never had my picture taken before," Pomni admitted. "I was so worried about what I should do."
Ragatha looked at the photo for a little longer, before smiling. "Well, I think you look wonderful," She told Pomni, and the poor jester fainted again. This time, Jax couldn't stop laughing.
Caine briefly disappeared to place the photo frame onto his desk. He picked up the old photo frame, which had Kaufmo in the picture.
"Merry Christmas…" Caine said solemnly, before throwing the old photo into the cellar, along with all the other photos.
The gang were chatting with each other over hot chocolate and Christmas tunes, and in a scene eerily similar to the finale of the pilot, Pomni looked over everyone chatting before looking down at her hot cocoa. Was Pomni ready to celebrate her very first Christmas in the digital circus? Probably.
