"Amyyyyy.. Do we have to go out straight after my next concert? I've got stuff to do." Sonic groaned over the phone, 'stuff' would be trying to gain the courage to confess to his crush, Shadow. The two first met at Club Rouge, the bar Rouge the Bat herself owned, they hit it off pretty well and sometimes meet up there for the occasional drink. Since their first encounter Sonic had only had eyes for him, despite Amy's constant insistence that he should be with her.
"Yes, Sonic! You promised we'd go out for dinner!" The pink hedgehog frowned on the other side, the tone of her voice making it clear she was going to get what she wanted. Sonic didn't want to start anything so he sighed, caving to Amy's desires. "Fine, I'll take you out. But it can't be straight after the concert, I have to help the guys pack up." He reluctantly agreed, knowing that his lie would buy him a little bit of time after his show to try and find Shadow.
"Good enough for me! Oh- I have to go, Vanilla's just arrived with Cream. Love you Sonikku!" She giggled, ending the call and rushing to her front door. Sonic let out a long breath he didn't know he was holding in and placed his phone in his pocket, he decided it would probably be good for him to get out of the house for a while so he decided to go to Club Rouge for a drink.
"The usual?" The ivory bat asked, a small smile on her face. "Yes, the usual Rouge." He growled, Shadow was never one for niceties - Sonic being the exception of course. The ebony hedgehog watched as his friend made his usual drink; Whiskey, when suddenly a familiar voice called out to him. "Shads!" His eyes widened as the voice hit his ears, he spun around in his chair and looked at the door to the club. It was Sonic.
The azure hedgehog had taken the scenic route to Club Rouge, which for Sonic mean walking instead of speeding through the city. He pushed open the glass door and spotted someone he didn't expect to see, Shadow. A grin spread across his face and he called out to him. "Shads!" Sonic yelled, using the nickname he had given Shadow a while back - during their second meeting to be exact.
The cerulean hedgehog approached him and sat himself on the stood next to him, an elbow on the bar with his head resting on his hand. He seemed completely entranced by the ebony hybrid, never once taking his eyes off of him - that was until Rouge spoke up. "Are you gonna get a drink or just stare at 'Mr Handsome' over here all day?" She snickered, knowing how much it ticked Shadow off when she called him that, but to her surprise he didn't even bat an eyelid at her. Sonic shook his head and snapped out of his trance, turning to Rouge. "O-oh, I'll have... Uhh..." "Just get him an apple juice, Rouge." Shadow sighed, he knew Sonic well enough to know he didn't really drink alcohol unless it was a special occasion. "One apple juice comin' right up! I'll get you another round as well, Shads." The female bat laughed, walking away to get them their drinks.

A few hours had passed and the club was now packed with customers, Sonic and his group putting on a little show for them - mainly for Shadow in Sonic's case. The ebony hybrid watching him intently, the lyrics seeming to hit close to home. Sonic had told him the song was unfinished but it was clear what it was about. Shadow glanced around the bar and spotted the pink hedgehog he suspected would also be at the show, once again gritting his teeth at her mere presence.
Once the show came to an end, Sonic maneuvered his way through the crowd so Amy wouldn't see where he was going and approached Shadow, without any explanation he took the hedgehog's hand and pulled him out of one of the club's back doors.
