The Wicked Eyed gamer
Chapter 1
Warning: I'm modifying the game a bit to make it more fun for you. Don't worry it'll roughly be the same just with added things.
(The wicked eyed Gamers Ascent)
I was always different from other kids, I knew that from a young age. I would watch as kids my age ran around playing on the swings or playing tag with their friends, but me I was always a loner so to speak. I never had that interest of conversing and playing with any other kids my age; it just didn't seem enjoyable. This has led to many problems in my life. I was truly an outsider.
Hi there my name is Kirigaya Kazuto, I'm currently 14 and I'm a fucking loner with no friends other than ones that try to use me. My hobbies included one thing and that was the fine art of gaming. I come from an extremely rich family. I currently live with my sister or well cousin and aunt/mother it was complicated but I was always preferred to be alone the company of others my age seemed to annoy me rather than being enjoyable.
Anyways you could see how that would make me an outcast among my peers in school. Even if it wasn't weird enough with me being a loner. Being the son of the CEO of one of the biggest companies in Japan had me under current scrutiny. I never got bullied since nobody would risk pissing my family off. I probably could have been popular due to my "devilishly handsome" looks as my aunt or mother put it.
I had a mop of raven black hair that fell effortlessly over my forehead, paired with piercing red eyes that seem to draw people in. I have been told many times by anyone who had actually spoken to me that my eyes are my best feature. Along with my striking eyes I had a decently fit body due to my aunt forcing me to work out every now and then to maintain a decent body type
Honestly I had no care for my looks; they only brought unnecessary attention that I did not want at all. In fact I didn't care about a lot of things. That included my grades and social life. That was until I started playing games. It had brought me into a sense of euphoria when I had first started playing. I was immediately addicted to the point I would often have to be stopped by my aunt or younger cousin.
My younger cousin Kirigaya Suguha was the golden child. She was perfect at everything and a raven haired beauty along with that. She had perfect grades and was popular beyond belief. Basically every guy in our joint school drooled at her and her intelligence made her the favourite child so to speak. She was also had an unmatched skill for kendo making her play in many tournaments, I had used to do kendo with her but we had been drifting apart ever since I had found out she wasn't my true sister.
Anyways back to the topic of games, I had been playing them for arounds a year now and I had found out quickly that I had a talent for it. Playing my first MMORPG I was quickly enthralled. The games name was DAWN one of the most popular games at the time it involved spawning into an giant island and basically having to survive to put it simply. Monsters would spawn in the wild and you would either have to flee or take them on.
Some of the spawned monsters would take up to 6 high levelled players to take down. They were certain areas where they spawned at higher levels but the real objective were raids. I nearly shivered at the thought of them.
Raids were basically taking on dungeons but not your typical dungeons. No, these dungeons had certain trials to get through before you reached the boss. These trials could consist of running away from an army of millions of monsters and making it to the other side of a massive arena or fighting giant monsters that where extremely slow but incredibly powerful. Sometimes even dragons.
Needless to say I thrived and when I say I thrived I don't mean like a normal player, no I became the best my online name was known by everyone. Kirito. A nickname that I changed to my actual online name after I became known after I wiped a whole guild out. My name had spread across the hundreds of players that played dawn. I was that guy that you "did not fuck with". I had done something no one had before and it made people start to idolise me.
To be fair they where actively pissing me off and despite how everyone makes it out that I just straight up destroyed them which was actually false in a way. It was a guild of 34 players. It had taken a lot of planning and killing squads of them at time along with setting traps for me to wipe them. It had taken weeks but the loot was awesome.
I was widely known for being a solo player the way I liked it. I hated when people tried to team up or interfere which unfortunately came with the fame. Which was an unfortunate side effect of being a talented player.
That fame grew once I had won a worldwide tournament. The King of Dawn tournament to be precise. I had spent weeks researching all the other pro players when it had started. I remember the adrenaline pumping through me as the counter went down. The objective was to be the last man standing. The only reason I joined was for two reasons.
One being this was a rare solo tournament normally tournaments had teams which of course due to my anti-social lifestyle did not allow me to participate and two the reward.
I cared not for the money but the other prise a free copy of the new Sword Art Online's beta test, and the new unreleased Nerve Gear. He would get to become a beta tester for the Hot topic of the gaming community and forums. Said to be the best thing coming this year. Sword art online. Looking at the advert once more he grinned.

Yes, you may have guessed it. After 30 hours of no sleep playing he had won. He had become the King of Dawn. His name in the game held a golden crown beside it for all to see and he was known by everybody. In a game of over 5000 worldwide pros he had come out and destroyed them. I could remember the feeling of when I won. I had screamed so much my cousin had thought I was getting murdered.
I remember speaking to her so excited she looked shocked. All my life I had been a calm but cold person. Even to my family I was cold and wore an indifferent attitude since I had found out they lied to me about my real parents of course I dropped it a bit with my sister/cousin due to her being the closest thing to someone I care about in this world but I could remember the beautiful smile she gave me when she saw my excitement. She had been trying to get me to get off gaming and get out of the house to make friends and become more sociable like her.
The thought made me cringe. I didn't care for all that. Honestly I'm pretty sure there wasn't something wrong with me due to the fact I had yet to feel guilt or remorse even when I destroyed people online with my skills and quick witted thinking I had never really cared that I had basically just erased all there hard work but oh well it's just a game so what do I know. Anyways today was the day Sword art online opened for everyone.
I had been playing the beta for a while in sword art online and it blew my expectations out of the water. Though the nagging was annoying with many wanting to team up for raids and quests due to my status as one of the best pro gamers currently around, I was able to brush them off and simply try my best to ignore them although it was annoying that was overshadowed by how amazing the game was.
When you started everyone got to spin the wheel of fortune, a wheel that would shape how powerful you could become. It gave you your first skill or to be exact a unique skill. Don't get me wrong thought they weren't always good In fact out of the 1000 beta testers only a select few got powerful skills. You only got one and it didn't affect the number of skills you could have in the game.
In sword art online you could only have a limited amount of skills making these starter skills basically a free gift from the creator Kayaba Akihiko. Though people didn't get their hopes that high since they were mostly pretty small but useful skills and some skills that were powerful enough to be noted but not anything that would make them that much stronger. Like skills such as [Ignite] allowed a user to set their sword alight with flames that did a bit of after-damage when used.
I don't know, I thought it was pretty cool. Unfortunately I didn't get much. There where tiers you see. Pretty simple for the unique skills they were devised by the online community of gamers. Common was a skill a lot of people got, Rare was one of the few people who got a pretty powerful one and Legendary which was meant to be on another level but had yet to be seen.
Many people were excited for today since it was the true launch of the game. Today was May 1st 2026, the launch day of Sword Art Online and to be honest, I couldn't be more excited. I had rushed home from school, ditching my sister who was late dealing with kendo practice, even though we had grown distant. We normally walked home together but today was too important. Plus she would forgive him eventually it was fine.
Watching the countdown I grabbed my Nerve gear with excitement rushing through me and looked at the download completion with a grin. I quickly went over and locked my door, not wanting people to disturb me while I played. I lay down on my king sized bed and said the two words that would change my life forever. The only thought in my mind were five words.
I will become the strongest once more.

SCENE CHANGE
I spawned into a floating platform with my newly created avatar. It didn't take him long to make because he already knew what he wanted to look like. Basically just myself I was really bothered about people caring. My name was still Kirito but luckily people couldn't see my gamer tag so it wouldn't matter and my new avatar made sure I wouldn't be bothered. Looking up I grinned at the wheel in front of him.
Now, to see if he was lucky. I strolled up to the wheel in front of me that the title Wheel of Fortune emblazoned on it in big bold golden letters that seemed to sparkle. Grabbing the lever I pulled it down. To be honest I didn't expect much since out of 1000 like 4 people got really good skills and if then it didn't make them invincible. I had to wonder though with 10,000 people playing today would someone perhaps gain something legendary who knows?
Unique skill gained.

[Congratulations!]
[Entering Sword Art Online..]
"Huh?" Was all I could say before being blown into a black portal and spawning into Sword Art Online. Looking around and clenching his fist. I grin.
'Prepare yourself Sword Art Online, the king has just arrived to claim his throne.' I thought with a chuckle. I glanced around to see if any other players had spawned in next to me and of course they had, As there were hundreds spawning in at a time seemingly circling together as they logged in a bright light, many checking out their own bodies in amazement and gossiping with one another.
Every one of them had an excited smile on their face as many of them were experiencing Sword Art Online.
Stretching my arms I inhaled a deep breath of air and grinned viciously. It was great to be back. I looked down at my clothes. Even though you could customise your character's looks, you couldn't choose your starting colours. Everyone started out in basic leather clothing.
I heard many people chatting about there unique skills and how excited they were about the game releasing before deciding I had enough of listening and walked off to find the start weapon vendor to obtain a [Starter Package] that contained a starter sword that was a basic weak short sword that honestly wouldn't do a lot of damage to anything above the first floor. Along with some armour which was honestly barley better than his current attire in terms of defence.
I watched as more people started to go to the stall I was just at and noted that they were probably Beta testers too. I quickly decided to leave lest the noobs recognise me as a beta tester and ask me for help. Or god forbid someone recognise my voice.
Highly doubt it but would rather just be seen as a normal player who wants to play solo than that famous guy who fucking wiped out guilds for breakfast and yes he had seen many posts making him out to be a demon at games who destroyed whatever was in his path.
Technically true but they made it seem like it was easy. My weeks of preparing and setting traps was not easy well I mean it was kind of just more time consuming I guess. Eh oh well. I decided to bring up my status page while I quickly speed walked outside the city. My destination was the frenzy boar spawning place. No quest was worth it currently and this would provide me with better exp.
Name: Kirito
Level: 1
HP: 100/100
SP 100/100
STR: 1
SPD: 1
AGI: 1
VIT: 1
STATUS POINTS: 0
Yup, you see that right, no magic in this game. Something about the creator Kayaba Akihiko hating magic in fantasy's games which was weird but everything ran of SP. SP could be gained through the AGI perk; it was basically energy reserves for all skills. Making it pretty important. The other way were legendary items that could increase it somewhat yet to be found but confirmed in the game by the creator which was interesting.
I would definitely have to find that since SP was a big factor in the game. Bigger the reserves the more bullshit skills you can use. Well this game was pretty tame for skills with the creator and his idol Kayaba Akihiko preferring more realistic skills but there were apparently some awesome skills out there hidden away with a lot of power but massive SP drain which was fair.
He was determined to find them as quests that gave awesome things like that where mostly one time use. I snapped out of my thoughts when I reached a clearing full of boar. Grinning, I nodded my head.
"Time to grind this bitch before other players make there way here." I said with a grin dashing at the first boar with a slash. Making it squeal in pain and turn to rush me. I quickly sidestepped and sent the blade diagonally through the frenzy boar making it shatter into pixels. I quickly picked up the small 50 cor left behind and continued my grind.
SCENE CHANGE
I had been grinding for over 5 hours now. I was getting good drops and xp. In fact, I was getting pretty close to levelling up. No one else had shown up. It was kind of strange. I had expected at least one person from the beta to make their way here now, but he was the only person there.
'Suckers are probably busy helping the newbies, it sucks to be them.' I thought amusedly. Looking down at my nearly broken blade I tsk in annoyance. I better go run to [Tolbana Town] and grab that quest for the [Night Blade] the night blade was probably the best blade you could get for 10 floors it was even better than the [Anneal Blade] which I assumed most if not all of the beta testers would be going after soon. The quest for getting the [Anneal Blade] required a shit ton of grinding those little shitty Nepents and could take days to actually fucking finish.
After all it was known as the supposed best blade for the first 5 floors anyways but I knew something they didn't. As a talented gamer and someone who knew how to look for hidden secrets in the game I had found the [Night blade Quest] it involves raiding a secret hideout full of Kobold Troopers and even a mini boss called the Kobold General [Avarice the Greedy] but it was hard. There where many Kobolds and normally Mini bosses have been known to require 2-5 people to take down.
Well that was until I soloed it but that wasn't to say it was easy by any means. The Kobold General was a hard fight and I wasn't expecting something like it on the first floor so much to my shame I very nearly got beaten by it. I would get the quest and so some grinding first since I believe only one person can actually claim the [Night blade] and it was better to have the quest first before anyone else could obtain it and do a little grinding so I don't get one shotted and have to respawn. Jeez that would be embarrassing.
So I decided even if it had less risk as I like to say no risk no reward and the [Night blade] was definitely a good reward
Just as I went to make my sprint towards [Tolbana Town] for the [Night blade] quest when I suddenly appeared back at the starting area in the [Town of Beginnings]. "What the fuck?" That about sums up my current thoughts. It had taken me like 20 minutes to run all the way out there ugh that's so fucking annoying. Is this a bug?
I looked around and saw a bunch of other players who seemed like they had been teleported. Matter of fact, it looked like everyone single player in Sword Art Online that had logged into the game was forced teleported here. Everyone else seemed to be just as confused.
I glanced up to the sky and watched as code seemed to shift into reality and form into a giant hooded figure who wore a white cloak with his face unseeable.
"Attention to all my players." He began. "I bid you a warm welcome to you all, to my wonderful world." The figure spread their arms out in a grand gesture. Huh, so he's Kayaba Akihiko… cool.
"My name is Akihiko Kayaba." Obviously. "And as of this moment, I am in control of this world." Also pretty obvious.
"I'm sure all of you have noticed an item missing from your main menus, to be exact the log out screen, I assure you this is no defect in fact this is how I designed it to be." Okay, Slightly less cool. Immediately everyone around me started shouting protests and things I honestly just droned out since I didn't care.
"From this day forward you will be unable to leave my world, any attempts to leave will be blocked and if your nerve gear should be removed a explosive device inside the helmet shall be detonated and your brain shall be promptly expelled from your head." He said and for a second it was deathly quiet like people were having to forcibly load that sentence into their heads and keep it for processing.
Well, that's something.
"Fear not since there is a way to escape." People began to reboot and started looking with hope.
"Simply beat the game" that hope was then shoved out of an airplane and thrown into a pit of lava and promptly chucked into a black hole where it then turned into particles that got erased by a eldritch being. People started the scream protests.
"T-this can't be real. No way I'm leaving!"
"This had to be a joke."
"I don't like this please let me leave!"
"WHY should we believe you!"
Immediately many screens appeared showing news stations warning people against taking the nerve gear off and they already amounted to 127 deaths that had occurred.
"If you would please look into your inventory you will find a little gift from me." Kayaba held out his hand, gesturing that he had given them something. I quickly looked into my inventory and found a mirror it shattered while I looked on in confusion only to glance around as everyone started to morph out of there character and what he quickly understood to be there real bodies.
It was quite weird seeing many of the girls characters actually be big muscular men honestly and some of the male characters become small girls. I guess it was good I didn't change my appearance would of been a waste of time.
Many shouts and cries of despair rang through the air as I stared at the figure that slowly started to disappear. People where on the ground hyperventilating and some people where ramming into the exit which had a barrier concealing it. Some other where simply crying and begging for a chance to leave.

Well, shit.
