Dress to Impress
Author Notes: It's been a year or two but I finally fricking did it! I beat this nightmare of a game-now onto the dark mirror lol. But let's make something a little silly. Been wanting to write this one shot for ages and now's as good a time as ever. I do not own Skul the Hero Slayer.
3rd P.O.V
"Don't take too long, Little Bones. Everyone will be arriving within the next hour." An hour? Plenty of time. Skul nodded before rushing into his room, leaving his halfling friend to get ready. Honestly did they really think he would be late?
He couldn't possibly think of such a thing today of all days. The Frost Festival only came around once a year afterall. Frankly all of them could afford to take in the spirit of celebrating with how the last year's been. Skul could admit that he himself desperately needed some cheering up.
Being killed, turned into a skeleton, struggling to win a war and inevitably-killing his father...yeah Skul wanted to have a fun day. Problem was...what was appropriate to wear? Throughout his conquest in fighting Carleon's army, Skul came across a lot of well...skulls.
So many of his allies and enemies fell, and all of them in some way helped him in stopping evil. With that being said, what was an appropriate skull to wear for the festival. There were a lot to choose from. And many that just wouldn't work.
Grim Reaper, Wolf and Mummy were more for the Autumn Festival. Any of the Carleon soldiers would be in bad taste since many of his surviving friends were still traumatized from the war. Skul theoretically could've just gone as he was.
Just typical Little Bones. It wasn't a bad idea, especially since he and the Demon King would be wearing their matching capes. But this was an important event. His favorite witch told him that so many of their people would be coming to officially greet him.
The Demon King mentioned a ceremony dedicated to him and his achievements. Just like how his father had to wear formal attire for when Carleon Castle hosted events, he had to dress up. Dress to impress.
So one by one Skul went through his arsenal of skulls to wear. Ninja and Samurai were the most utilized in the war-to the point where he felt the most normal wearing, so they were obvious contenders.
However Skul didn't like the idea of carrying around the weapons. Whatever head he switched with and he's stuck with the attire that came with it, meaning those two were out. The frost skull was a definite contender-except his hands were ice knives. He couldn't eat with those.
He refused to wear ghoul's head, not only would his form ruin most of his companion's appetites, but all of his food would just fall out. Prisoner's face was covered once his head was on. Rock Star was nice but Skul didn't feel like entertaining everyone with his guitar shredding.
Gravekeeper lugged around coffins. Bomber had his awful bombs...Skul slumped as he made a pile full of his rejects. There were still so many to go through. Perhaps he was being too choosy. Too picky.
But then he remembered his father going through the same struggle when he was still alive. An endless amount of armor and clothes, closets upon closets searched through. Eventually the First Hero found what he wanted, relieved to finally leave his room.
If his father could do it-why not him? But he was running out of patience. Time went tick tock-and he wasn't liking it. It was only a matter of time before the Demon King arrived telling him that they needed to get to the banquet hall. Minotaurus and Gargoyal were too bulky.
Little Bones caught his reflection in the mirror. He tried to smile, flexing his nonexistent muscles, posing just like the rookie hero his father trained. His cape flapped from the movements, and it was there he saw it.
The sun peered through his window, casting light on the one skull he had missed. The pinnacle of his collection. He rushed, arms outstretched. Plans formed in his cranium. He knew what to do and just enough time to execute it.

"-here we thank all for the efforts our army did while imprisoned. But out of all of us, there was one who gave our kingdom the strength we needed to not just survive the war-but win it. It is here we proudly present our most powerful subordinate, and newly appointed general. Skul-or as many of us know, Little Bones."
Applause rang out in the wind. Snow fell freely, coating the castle in a light layer of white. The lovely scenery made it easy for Skul to appear, smiling as he approached the equally smiling Demon King. "Good choice."
Skul beamed at the praise, adjusting the crown on his head. Yes...it costed him him one-hundred and forty bones, but he had the perfect head on his shoulders. Joker...the king of clowns, had the most formal attire as could be.
It helped that he matched the Demon King as well, leaving the wicked monarch not feeling as uncomfortable or sulky with his layers of clothes. Together the two stood side by side as hoots and cheers overran the castle.
"The time has come, friends. We are pleased to announce the start of the Frost Festival!" It was the moment he had been waiting for. Finally-he could eat. A true feast for the ages! There were so many options that it was a good thing he was no longer human less he create a river with all the drool falling out of his mouth.
Spiritual coffee, snow salamanders, milky ways, odd soups, shurikan snacks, hero combos, poison flower stews, onigiri pyramids, kidults meals, a giant DC cake-even korean spicy noodles! Truly, the grandest of food lay before him. "I made sure to get all of your favorites, Little Bones. Enjoy."
Enjoy he would. Minus the Demon King and his favorite motherly witch, the chef was by far his most favorite person. Without any further prompting, Skul dove headfirst for the banquet table. He more than earned it.
The End
Author Notes: Whoop whoop-another one shot for the books! Seriously I love our little protag, he deserves all the hugs for what he's gone through and done in the game. But Ninja and Samurai needed to be referenced since I one the game with those two.
Now with that my friends, that is it. Ladies and gents thank you all so much for reading my one shot. If you liked it please feel free to fav/follow/review as it would mean a lot to me, or check out my other holiday one shots. See you all next time, tchao for now.
