MC POV

'Where am I?' I could not see.

'What happened?' I could not taste nor feel the air.

'Was I alive?' The sensation of blood flowing through the veins of my body was absent. I felt disconnected, detached from my limbs and organs, like a head floating in space.

[All Systems Online.] A female voice resonated in my head. What followed were a series of engines coming to life and a rainbow of lights beaming into my eye sockets.

The lights quickly subsided, revealing what I assumed was a giant desktop home screen covering all 360 degrees of my field of vision. It was similar to an upright hollow cylinder that displayed videos on its interior surface. When I turned my head, the screen would rotate instead, using my head at its axis of rotation.

The usefulness of this function revealed itself in the form of various popups providing live stream videos of my surroundings, where each application took up a part of the desktop screen to form a coherent 360 view of my environment.

This feat was unnatural for normal people. Humans do not have eyes behind their heads to achieve a 360 degree view.

[SCOR-00001 is not human.] A familiar voice responded to my inner turmoil.

'Oh? Then what am I?' I questioned back, the shock of my predicament overwhelming my hesitation and surprise of hearing voices inside my head.

In response, a rotating 3D diagram of a scorpion-like robot creature materialized on the screen.

Three pairs of insect legs propped up the robot, each limb having four digits contacting the ground for increased traction when traversing at high speed and on angled terrain. A fourth pair of limbs closest to the head were modified to have giant crushing claws designed with enough crushing force to pop a human head like a bloody pimple. If that wasn't enough, machine guns were built on the dorsal and ventral side of each claw so a victim that's already dying from being crushed will also get a face full of lead to make their last moments of life even more gruesome.

The most striking feature is the stinger attached to the tip of a curved tail on the back and hung over the rest of the robot's body. Instead of a sharp needle designed to inject poison, this one was a concave of deadly blades surrounding some sort of energy weapon.

(AN: Think of the MC looking similar to Batalalan Du from Code Geass, but with the aesthetics of the Legion from 86. The size is approximately two times larger than a Dinosauria unit).

'Is that really me?' This entire situation felt like a fever dream.

[Affirmative.] The voice confirmed my worries.

'It…Can't…I thought…I know…I was something else?'

I glanced at the machine's claws. My claws…and willed the limb to stretch.

The machine obeyed and I saw the motion in full display before my eyes. This was indeed me.

*BOOM!*

A large explosion tore me away from my existential breakdown. A large flashing warning label forced its way to the forefront of my vision.

[Warning: Hostile Combatants have been sighted at 8 o'clock and 4 km away.] The voice, who I had accepted as my first companion in this new world, warned.

The message was minimized to make room for maps and live feed videos of incoming squads of murderbots that have the exact same aesthetics as myself.

'Why the hell are they attacking me? I was just born a few minutes ago!'

[SCOR-00001 is designated as 'Traitor.']

'Can I tell them that I am not!?'

[Negative. Unit SCOR-00001 has been voided from all Legion networks. Any attempt to reconnect will only act as a beacon to be tracked by Legion pursuers.]

'Oh great! My first minutes of life and I am already a convict. What are the odds?'

[Very likely due to the circumstances of SCOR-00001's activation.]

'That was a rhetorical question.'

[No attempt of being rhetorical was made by SCOR-00001. Does the unit require a software diagnosis?]

'Don't you dare sass me? Isn't my tone of voice enough to convey that?'

*BOOM!* Another explosion resounded outside the warehouse.

[SCOR-00001 does not have lungs nor a mouth.]

'Of course, I-' I realized that I wasn't human anymore. 'Well played. But I still hold my point that you should have noticed.'

*BOOM!* A piece of the warehouse roof fell to near inches away from my robot body.

'Shit! Is there anything I can do to escape?' My companion and I could fight at another time. First, we gotta get out of here and survive.

I scrolled through the various applications and tools available to me. And none of them gave me any instructions to actually move myself to safety. Maybe a voice command would work?

'Move forward?'

[Acknowledged.] My companion confirmed. I saw my legs begin to raise from the ground, propelling my body forward. A map pinned itself to the lower left side of my vision, visualizing the route we are taking towards a preset designation 300 miles away.

Moving away from the danger was a great start. The next problem was how to shake these pursuers off my trail because I doubt this body of mine was built for speed. If the schematics were to be believed, I was moving slower than an M1 Abrams tank.

[Redirecting 10 Ameise from battle group N-502 to delay the advance of hostile Legion units.]

'Battle group? Legion? Ameise? I have soldiers?!' I screamed, surprised to actually have robots that didn't want to murder me and supposedly having said robots be under…My?…Is it our control?

[Battle group is under direct control of SCOR-00001.]

'Right…So we have robots under our control?'

[Affirmative.] She replied. Blue dots popped up on the map and shown to be converging on my position. My own robot self was represented as a green marker. And a great wall of red dots were also present, slowly gaining on my coordinates.

Then, just as the voice has stated, a group of 10 blue dots separated and directed themselves on a collision course with the red dots.

The second the two colors met, the detachment of Ameise was wiped out. However, the short battle was enough to stall the advancing wave of enemies.

Their sacrifice would not be forgotten.

[Confirmed. The battle squad of 10 Ameise has been designated 'Not Forgotten'.]

'That isn't what I meant!' This voice has got to stop being so blunt and direct about things. I was going to have a metaphorical aneurysm if she kept this up.

[Does SCOR-00001 wish to remove the name ID of the sacrificial battle group?]

*Sigh* 'I am never going to get used to you.'

Four Days Later

"Hey, Shin. Do you want to help make dinner?" Anju Emma called out. Shinei Nouzen was reading his book near the counter of the cafeteria. Everyone else was either helping with chores or having small conversations.

Before he could give a proper reply, Vladilena Milizé made her presence heard through his communication's device.

"Shin, we have an abnormal Legion movement in Kaza Village." She announced. The news was a shock to him. He didn't notice any nearby Legion activity. Usually, he would have heard the voices before the Legion could be spotted by their Handler.

Lena was right to call its activities abnormal since the village provided nothing, but a few dozens of houses in an open field without cover. To an AI army like Legion, it was useless to take it. Unlike the city that they usually fight over, the village would be a difficult place for the assaulting force to fortify. This made the Legion squadrons vulnerable when they would start recharging themselves. The Republic of San Magnolia, ignored the area knowing this fact.

Now that the Legion had defied their expectations, the guys back at the capital should be scramming to find out why. For him and his colleagues, it meant a quick suit up and an engagement before the Legion could do anything worthwhile.

Anju noticed the frown forming on Shin's face and immediately knew that the news wasn't good. As if sensing the change in atmosphere, everyone in the spearhead squadron stopped what they were doing.

"So...Is it another battle?." Raiden Shuga asked and broke the silence

Shin nodded and told everyone of their task and situation.

"Everyone, eat quickly and prepare for battle." Shin added. A few of the members sighed at their misfortune, while some ran to get their gear and maybe their dinner because they wouldn't want to fight on an empty stomach.

Shin closed the book and glanced at this squadron. 'Whatever the Legion is planning, I won't allow it to succeed.' He thought.
