A/N: Hello! It is Sol this time as the author. While Nutsofthechest is the one posting this, I did get his expressed permission to do my own rendition of his Fatal Flaw story, so I am going to do my best!
FLASHBACK:
YEAR: 2013
POV: PERCY
I awoke from my nightmare with an audible gasp, and sweat pouring down my back. I shuddered as the dreams finally subsided. This nightmare seemed worse than last night's as I was feeling every sensation from that time all over again. Every time I blinked I could see Tartarus' face when he captured myself and Annabeth; his malicious grin, his blistering purple skin, and his voice that could cut through steel without any trouble.
'You are a tough one to break Perseus Jackson, but that daughter of Athena is not.' I heard in my mind, replaying our conversation when I decided to essentially sell my soul to the being that even the devil was scared of. I couldn't… no I wouldn't let Annabeth become his plaything, all I could do was beg him to take me instead.
I was so relieved when he took my pleading and listened, and then those cursed days began. The very days that finally broke me and filled my mind with pure terror. I don't even know how long he truly kept torturing me in such an insane fashion, it could have been a few days, or a few millennia. The only real timeframe I was truly given was when I was out, only a full day had passed.
I could still feel the snakes being forced down my throat, I could still see afterimages of the illusions he made me watch. I could still feel the countless cuts he gave and then healed with splashes of water, even when he amplified my pain and threw me into the Acheron River.
He even would kill me at the end of the 'day'. Each was more creative and painful than the last method. The final method he used though left a permanent scar. Along my back was a large vertical line that was from when he reached through my skin and ripped my spine out of my back, killing me instantly. I still remember when he healed me enough so that I was able to comprehend what I was seeing, and when he knew I could see, he dangled my spine directly in my face, taunting me with my own bones.
The worst torture he ever gave me, was what he called "The Pot". It was a pot that was just big enough that it could fit me in a fetal position and deep enough that sitting down I would just barely have my nose above the rim of the pot. What he filled that pot with was a mixture he concocted just for me; oil and water. He mixed them just right so that when I submerged I could heal from the water, but the oil stopped me from getting any sort of oxygen from it so I had to surface.
He would then light the top of the pot on fire so that I would be burned every single time I came up for air. Then he slowly took away the water, and just drowned me in the oil and made sure the fire was more ablaze so that I could no longer surface for air. He did that torture every night, as he claimed the pot would be my bed until he decided to give up on me.
When he finally gave up and let me go, I was so relieved. He even offered an escort out of that place, along with swearing on his essence that no monsters would harm me or Annabeth. When I heard that swear I breathed a sigh of relief, well as much relief as you could breathe in toxic air. As I was walking out of literal hell, he gave me one final gift, a curse to make me relive the very night terrors I just woke up from.
I slowly sat up in the bed trying to shake the thoughts out of my mind and wiped all the sweat running down my face. Just then I felt two softer hands reach up and gently caress my shoulders. I jumped a small bit before I calmed myself down and reminded myself of who was in the bed with me. I softly smiled as I felt her soft and yet still calloused hands rub my shoulders to help me calm down.
I looked down at the woman in the bed with me and grabbed her left hand before bringing it up to my face and gently kissing the simple wedding ring she had on her hand. I then raised my gaze and saw a pair of stormy gray eyes, I gave her hand a tight squeeze as she did the same. Annabeth gave me a loving smile before gently letting go of my shoulder. I took in her beauty while she smiled at me; her long hair had grown longer yet still kept her curls looking godly, her eyes looked at me with that familiar calculating look, and her hands looked just as perfect as the first time I held them.
I smiled at the ring that I had just kissed, the simplicity of the silver band with swirls of sea blue symbolizing waves. I knew that on the inside held a simple inscription of her name; Annabeth Chase-Jackson. As I thought of the ring I also thought back to our wedding day, the day that also happened to be my 18th birthday. As a sort of wedding and birthday gift, Chiron and Mr. D had allowed us to both live in my cabin as long as Athena agreed. She did; but not without a threat or two from Poseidon, and an argument or two about it.
I then remembered our rather simple honeymoon, a trip to the island thought impossible to visit more than once; Ogygia. Once Calypso's residence, but after Leo freed her it just became the vacation spot that only the Seven could get to, as Festus was the only way back to the untrackable island. As I continued to remember the nice times I had shared in the little bit of time that we had been married, my wife spoke to shake me out of the bliss.
"Nightmares again?" She simply asked, this wasn't a new or sudden occurrence. I simply nodded in response which caused her to softly rub my back, being careful of the large mark. She then rested her head on my shoulder, sighing as she felt the sweat that had built up from the night terror I had not even five moments ago.
"Yeah, I am sorry if I woke you up," I said with a sheepish smile trying to apologize, to which she shook her head as if saying it was okay. I nodded in thanks and slowly sat up more, gently moving her off of me,
"I am going to go for a nice jog to try and clear my mind and get some cold air to feel rejuvenated," I stated and slowly swung my legs out from under the covers, turning back to her to give her a gentle peck on the forehead. She quickly wrapped her arms around my neck and pulled me in to give me a soft kiss on the lips, causing a smile to appear on both our faces before she let go and snuggled back into bed, leaving space for me as if telling me to hurry back.
"Don't be gone all night, Sea-Brain." She teased as she closed her eyes and slowly drifted back to sleep while I got dressed to go outside. After throwing on some pants and a shirt I stuffed Riptide into my pocket and left the cabin. As I walked out, I was greeted with the cold night air as I looked around. It was around three in the morning and Artemis was the one that was in the sky. I smiled to myself as I began to jog around the camp border.
As I did my jog, I fully reminisced about how I used to look, a bit more muscular, a bit more tan, and quite a bit happier. Due to the pit and lack of proper nutrition, I had lost some of my muscles. Another thing I lost was my swimmer's tan, which was lost due to not really going out during the day; mainly because whenever I saw someone it would cause flashbacks to the nightmares. I also would have either sleepless nights, or basically be in a coma. I could sleep for only two hours and be miserable from the lack of energy, or I would be trapped in one of the nightmares for twenty hours. With the lack of going outside during the day, I had gotten out of touch with my swordsmanship. I sighed to myself in defeat from the fact that I was truly broken by Tartarus.
Once I escaped those thoughts I realized how isolated I had become. I did almost everything at night because of him. The flashbacks that were caused by looking at everyone he used against me were vivid, so I slowly became the 'Night Walker" as the camp called me. If I was ever out during the day I could hear their whispers and gasps at seeing me and my sickening state. Slowly I knew some of them had begun seeing me as a freak instead of broken, wondering why I couldn't just get over what was done to me. I was so thankful that Annabeth stayed by me. We had been through so much, so much so that I am sure that if she also distanced away and saw me as a freak I would lose the last little bit of hope and willpower I had.
I was so thankful that Annabeth stayed at my side through it all, I mean we had been through so much together. Yet part of me always seemed to be whispering in my head that she would also start seeing me as a freak if she did… I don't think I would have the willpower to keep myself together.
The thoughts that filled my head slowly angered me, causing my jog to turn into a run to tire myself out a bit, causing me to stop and rest at Thalia's tree. I smiled as I saw Peleus slowly open one eye to see me, then just closed it and quickly went back to sleep as he knew I was not a threat. I just sat beside him carefully and rubbed his head softly causing him to gently purr in his sleep, well as much of a purr as a dragon could. While I stroked the dragon's head, I looked up and let my dull eyes glow from basking in the full moon's light.
"Do you think today will be any different Peleus?" I asked aloud, to which he just gave a slightly confused grunt. I simply nodded at that and smiled as a joke popped into my head.
"I figured you would say that. I agree." I mumbled, letting myself relax and continuing to gently pet the dragon's head. I closed my eyes and just petted the dragon softly, which caused me to slowly drift off into sleep, making time pass by quicker than I realized. Eventually, I felt the warm sun on my back, causing me to slightly wake up from my nap. Then I heard some yelling from down the hill which fully jolted me awake. I looked down the hill with Peleus and what I saw almost made me do a double take.
He had the same hair as me; as black as the deepest seas, and somehow it was shorter yet messier. He held a rather simple sword in his hands which made me get up to make sure he was not being chased. At first, nothing was there and then I noticed the shadows moving from tree to tree. I sighed to myself as this kid had managed to get what looked to be multiple shades on his tail.
"What the hell did you do to piss off the dead?" I yelled out at him before going down to him and getting behind him with Riptide drawn. Once I was behind him, immediately the few Shades seemed to multiply and became a few dozen surrounding him and myself. The creatures of pure blackness seemingly bounced around the shadows they resided in, growing antsy at the fact that there were now two sons of a major god for them to try and eat.
"I slept in a cave and woke up because they were attacking me! Now while I know this isn't the time for introductions the name's Jake Richards!" He yelled back before I shook my head in disappointment.
"Had to sleep in a stupid Shade House, didn't you!? As for introductions, I'm Percy Jackson, son of Poseidon." I simply stated before starting to attack the Shades as they got closer. He didn't seem to make a big deal of it, but his next sentence was what actually shocked me for a moment.
"Well, hello then half-brother." He said which quickly bewildered me but I still managed to fend off the Shades when they tried to attack me. As they attacked I slowly realized he was a decent swordsman. His form could use work but that could also be marked up to the exhaustion that the Shades had caused.
As we swung, I slowly realized that the Shades could not even get close to us, and then the sun slowly pushed them away as its light covered the hill. Once they realized that the sun was taking away their land, they began to hiss before the sun covered them and they were fully gone. I slowly took a breath as Jake did the same, I walked us past the tree, getting us into the barrier of the camp before sitting down as Jake followed suit and began talking again.
"Well, that was fun wasn't it?" He asked, looking at me as he continued to take deep breaths from the exercise he had experienced. While he sat I checked him up and down, noticing a few bite marks and slashes. Nothing too major or life-threatening thankfully. I then answered his question with a shake of my head before stating,
"I would not call that fun, but I suppose it felt good to exercise again. You best thank the fates that I was taking a nap at the tree, otherwise, I am not sure you would have made it to the camp." I said with an exhausted grin before slowly standing up and dusting my clothes off before helping up my half-brother.
"I suppose the fates work in mysterious ways, wouldn't you say?" He asked to which I simply nodded and started walking to the big house, seeing that Chiron was slowly making his way from the front door to the nice patio he had to relax in.
"Hey Chiron, he will need some ambrosia and nectar, but other than that he is fine. As for the resemblance you may be seeing, yes he is another son of Poseidon." As I said that, Dionysus slowly walked out of the front door grumbling and rubbing his eyes as he was still waking up. As he did he seemed to glance at Jake and then me, he then mumbled something along the lines of 'Great there are two of them now'.
"Ah, just the god I wanted to see! Am I still on for my crazy talk time?" I asked with a chuckle, causing my brother to look at me confused, while Chiron got his attention with a small cube of ambrosia and a shot glass size of nectar.
"Percy, that 'crazy talk time' is what people often call 'Therapy'." Chiron tried to correct with a shake of his head in disapproval. I then sighed and looked back towards the god of wine before talking in a serious tone.
"My episodes have gotten a bit better, went from having them twice a day to times where I can go two nights without one. Plus today I have yet to have any sight terrors." I explained as Mr. D seemed to take a mental note of this new information.
Jake seemed to look me up and down with a rather confused look before looking between Mr. D, Chiron, and myself before opening his mouth,
"You look fine to me, maybe a bit skinnier and paler, but other than that? You seem alright." He asked, confused by what was going on. To which Mr. D sighed, "Don't worry about it Blake, this is more of a private matter."
"My name isn't Bla-" Jake started before I raised my hand and cut him off;
"He does that to everyone, you get used to it after a month or so. I promise. Now for something a bit better to think about, I believe breakfast might be getting served in a few moments." I stated while I looked around and started seeing campers begin to shuffle out of their cabins and then a moment later heard the horn go off signaling I was right.
"Off you go to breakfast Petey. Take James with you if you would." Mr. D stated, to which I slightly shook my head and replied,
"I am going to go back to the cabin and grab Annabeth, Chiron could you take Jake with you to breakfast? I am sure he will get claimed by our father then." I requested the centaur. Chiron simply nodded before looking back at Jake and commenting on his whole reaction to everything,
"You seem rather calm about all of this information Jake." He stated to which Jake nodded slowly and began to reply to it.
"Poseidon told me about all of this during my rests, about this camp, about you Chiron, and most of all about what he called 'The Best Son Ever'. He told me all the stories I would hear here, about how he saved Olympus not only one time, but twice. Oh along with the fact that I missed a wedding!" He said looking at me with that last part with a smile and nudge before I laughed and slowly started walking towards the cabin.
As I walked away I looked back and said one last thing to my new half brother,
"Well, I can see we will get along amazingly." I smiled at my statement before walking to the door of my cabin and slowly entering it. As I opened the door I was greeted by the sight of an empty bed which made me slightly confused. I then walked over to the bathroom, to which I was greeted with the sounds of running water and soft humming from my wife. As I heard this I smiled to myself and quietly snuck into the bathroom, removing my clothes and sneaking into the shower room.
As I got closer to the only operating stall I saw some steam rising up towards the ceiling. I frowned as I was unable to see over the stall door, hiding my wife from me. I quietly opened the stall door and saw my gorgeous partner with her eyes closed as hot water poured down her face and hair. I stepped one foot into the stall before she finally spoke up.
"Word to the wise, if you want to be sneaky don't slam the door when you are coming in." The moment I heard those words I gave up on sneaking closer and just entered the stall with her, resting my head on her shoulder gently before looking up and kissing her cheek. To which she turned and kissed my lips gently before smiling as she pulled away and spoke again,
"As much as I would love to have fun, let's wait until tonight okay? Also you seem much happier than normal, so you might not have any terrors." She then finished cleaning up in front of me and left the stall grabbing her towel and going to our room to get ready for the day. I quickly did a clean up of myself, washing away the dirt and sweat from the fight earlier. After I finished I grabbed a change of clothes before slowly preparing myself to leave and see everyone.
As I made my way to the dining hall I found Annabeth at our table since Chiron allowed it. As I walked to the table I had a lot of people staring at me but I focused on Annabeth and then saw Jake at the table as well causing a smile to form on my face.
"Dad claimed you already?" I asked to which he nodded.
"Heard from Annabeth yours was cooler though!" He said before shoving a piece of bacon into his mouth and crunching down on it.
"I don't know about all that." I replied, rubbing the back of my neck before looking around and seeing people still staring at me. I reminded myself not to focus on a single face that way it would be better. I continued to focus on Jake, since he wouldn't cause anything as he wasn't used against me down there. He finished the food in his mouth before raising his fork at me,
"So I hear you are the best swordsman here. Would you possibly be able to train me?" He asked to which everyone that was within earshot seemed to take in a large breath, unsure how I would react.
"How about we eat first, then we can talk about battling?" I asked, to which everyone around then let out the breath they were holding in.
"Fiiine." He sighed out before smiling to which I smiled back as we went back to eating our food. As I put a piece of pancakes into my mouth, I heard a voice that made me roll my eyes.
"Hey Nightwalker. Why are you out? It's daytime." Rick said behind me, to which I finished my mouthful and groaned out,
"What do you want from me Rick?" I asked as I slowly turned my head to look back at the blonde haired son of Zeus who was staring down at me with his electric blue eyes.
"I want you to go back to your little cave of a cabin, Cavefish." He said before Annabeth sneered and looked at him.
"Rick, just leave him alone." She said as Jake turned to Rick who was the same age as himself.
"Whatever you say Sugar Tits." He replied which caused him to receive a middle finger from the daughter of Athena as everyone just glared at the son of the king of the gods as he slowly backed away from our table. As he backed away, Jake slowly pointed at me and spoke to break the silence that had formed.
"Percy your fork.." He said trailing off as I slightly looked down to see that I had crushed the metal fork into nothing more than a ping pong ball. I sighed and dropped the metal ball before looking at Annabeth with a saddened face.
"I am sorry love. I should have stood up for you and I didn't." I softly spoke before she grabbed my hand gently and rubbed small circles on it to stop me from shaking.
"It is okay Percy. I know how difficult it is for you to not harm him. Now since we are done with eating, let's go spar okay?" She asked, grabbing all of our plates and throwing them into the fire, softly mumbling a prayer to our parents since my plate still had food on it. She then made her way back to the table kind of ushering us towards the Arena.
"Alright, let's go you two." She said and pulled us both to the Arena, Jake laughing while I avoided people staring at me. She then stepped away from us and looked at Jake and myself before nodding.
"Jake, you come with me and we will get you some armor, Percy will be okay." She said as she and Jake left for a moment until he returned in some leather armor with a sword in hand. She then went and took a seat in the stands, as people slowly began to funnel in from the sides as they came to watch 'The Mystical Night Walker' fight the newbie. Even Rick came in, but he was on the side of the stands by himself, flipping his sword around to entertain himself. I looked at Jake with a smile and moved a bit closer to cross blades with him and speak.
"I will begin easy on you alright?" I asked to which he simply nodded and I began to strike at him to which he would block. After a minute or two of the simple strikes I would speed up, which he would also do to continue to block. After a while of this system we were in a full on spar. After a bit of this spar he managed to get a good hit on the hilt of Riptide, causing it to fly out of my hand and then he placed the blade to my neck causing me to smile at him in approval.
"Very good job Jake!" I simply told him while I noticed his heavy breathing from the workout which caused me to lightly grab the handle of his blade to lower it down to the ground.
"Hey go get some water man, I got this under control." I said before walking over to where Riptide had landed and bent down to pick it up only to see a foot suddenly appear on the blade holding my weapon down. I looked up at the face of none other than Rick with his own blade resting softly on his shoulder and a smug grin on his lips.
"Didn't I tell you to go back to your darkness Cavefish?" He spat before I slowly stood up and loomed over him with the height difference of his 5'8 to my 6'2.
"Rick, just get off my sword. Please." I asked kindly before I was answered by a blade pressing against my neck, causing my dull green eyes to glare into his shining electric ones.
"You do not want to do this Rick. You of all people know that you will not win." I said, and he slowly pulled his blade away from my face before he suddenly cut my shoulder by dragging the blade along it. The moment I felt the cut I pushed him away and placed my left hand on the wound.
"That's what you get, Sea Spawn." He said, spitting on the ground in front of me while I slowly pulled my hand away and saw blood. The sight immediately caused me to stop moving.
After seeing the sight of blood I was immediately thrown back into the hellscape of Tartarus, and was trapped on his "Table of Joy" as he called it. From what I could see in the dim candle lit room, I looked fine with only a small cut on my shoulder. I continued to look around before hearing the torturer hum an unfamiliar song. I looked in his direction before he looked over and noticed I was awake. Once he noticed he flashed me that wicked smile I despised.
"Seems like that got you up. Good, that means I can begin! You are going to love what I have in store today! A vivisection like yesterday, and ripping out your eyeballs! Of course you should know by now that my magic will be keeping you alive, along with your normal dosage of medicine." He said before sticking the rusty needle into my arm and injecting me with the drugs that made me feel the pain tenfold.
After he injected me, he began the torture. He heated up a pair of rusted pliers and slowly tore my eyes out of the sockets, taking an excruciatingly long amount of time due to the poor condition of the tool. As he got one eye loose, my screams grew louder and louder until my throat was scratchy from the pain of screaming. After he got that eye fully out, he set it down on a table looking over my body as he began to work in the other one.
After what felt like days he got my other eye out and my vision was fully removed, only able to feel the blood pooling in the sockets while he began to do the vivisection on me. He dragged his favorite blade, what he called "The Oxidized Scalpel" which was just an extremely rusted box cutter, along my chest down to my lower abdomen.
After the horrible incision was made, it felt like he was stabbing my insides a million different times as he slowly cut apart each and every organ I had, all while his concoction of "medication" kept me alive enough to feel every sensation. Eventually I felt him stop, and slowly realized that I no longer had my organs. All that was inside of my body was a pool of blood. I slowly feel myself slipping away before Tartarus injects me with ambrosia and nectar causing my body to heal and be revived for more suffering.
I slowly was pulled out of my nightmares as I heard muffled voices calling my name. As I slowly fluttered my eyes open and saw multiple children of Ares holding me down, some looking a bit beat up. I then realized that there were two of them each holding down one of my legs and arms as Annabeth was looking down at my face, her hands gently cupping my cheeks. Then I felt my muscles, they felt like I had just gone through war, they were feeling like they were on fire and then I relaxed them causing the Ares' children to let go and quickly back away from me.
"Hey." I said, signalling I was fully conscious which caused Clarisse to snort and Annabeth to shake her head with a loving smile.
"He's back you all. Just a vision terror it seems." Clarisse told the campers while Annabeth gently tended to my cut shoulder, causing me to wince before looking up at Clarisse.
"What happened while I was… away?" I said asking the daughter of war before she just looked at me with a saddened glance.
"Well after you saw the blood, you kind of just froze. The moment Annabeth noticed that, she screamed that you were having an episode. Right after she did, you immediately began to shake. Then Rick's dumb self thought he was cool and tried to hurt you again, causing your body to react and disarm him before he could blink. Then after he was disarmed you put him into a headlock until he fainted, but you didn't let go so we had to intervene to save his life." She explained to which I nodded solemnly. She then took a deep breath before continuing her speech.
"You are a monster when you're having those terrors Jackson. When we were trying to subdue you, you took nearly half of the Ares' children out unarmed, while they had weaponry to try and stand a chance. We even noticed that you weren't fully focused as you would sometimes grip a part of your body and let out a blood curdling scream. It took us a while to pin you down but once we did, Annabeth came over to try and help. All I have to say is make sure you are unarmed when you have a terror attack because otherwise it would be disastrous." She finished as I felt Annabeth finish off the patching of my shoulder. I looked around and then saw Jake running towards me with a worried look spread across his face.
"Are you alright man?" He asked as he helped me up, since I could still feel how sore my muscles were. I then turned towards the big house and sighed.
"Not at all sadly. I've got to see Mr. D again." I said and slowly began walking towards the big house.
"I can come with you, it's the lea-" He started before he suddenly stopped and began coughing as campers began to scream causing me to turn around and see Jake coughing up blood and a sword piercing his chest where one of his lungs would be.
"Jake!" I yelled as I ran over to him and caught him as he began to fall forward. I then looked up and saw his attacker, Rick, with a smirk on his face. Jake began to gasp for air before he suddenly stopped breathing, causing my heart to ache as I just lost my new half-brother.
"Damn it. Thought that was you Jackson, my bad." Rick said nonchalantly before smirking and pulling his sword out of Jake as if to disrespect him more. As I saw that my mind broke and I lost it.
"I am going to FUCKING END YOU!" I screamed before charging at the son of Zeus. I grabbed him by the neck faster than he realized and lifted him off the ground as an aura began to cover my skin, causing my skin to look like an ocean in the middle of a hurricane. Rick tried to grab at my arm and pry himself loose as his feet kicked around to find something to stand on.
"L-let me go P-Percy." He begged which fueled my anger more, blinding my vision as I began to let out an ear piercing scream, causing something inside me to break. When I felt that, Rick began to scream in pain causing thunder to shake the ground as lightning lit up the sky as if Zeus was warning me. Rain has started to pour down, but any of the water that got within a small circle of me dissolved immediately and flowed into Rick's gasping mouth.
I continued to push on that door that felt like it broke a bit, harder and harder until I heard Rick's screams and gasps stop. I felt his body grow limp in my hand and raindrops begin to fall on me. I suddenly felt an urge to snap my fingers, but before I could Annabeth began to talk.
"Percy! Jake can still be saved! Just let Rick go! He isn't wor-" as I heard her go on, my brain forced my left hand to snap which caused Rick to explode outwards. His blood shooting everywhere, covering me and people more than fifteen feet away in his red liquid. His guts and bones just fell to the ground at my feet, as I just stared at my hand that once held a demigod. After a moment of complete shock, people began to scream and run in horror from me.
As I looked around I realized that the only people spared from the shower of blood was Annabeth and Jake. I slowly looked down at myself, noticing I was covered in blood. I then began to feel warm rain hit me and looked up to see that his blood also went upwards and began to shower back down on the area. After a moment I heard the sound of the gods and goddesses appearing behind me. I stood still as I heard them all move closer before they suddenly stopped, which caused me to put my hands behind my back as I knew what was coming. I then felt the shackles around my wrists causing me to be unable to move my arms.
"Zeus, you know that this is unnecessary. You saw what Rick did! Percy was retaliating!" Poseidon told his brother of the sky as Apollo ran over to Jake. I heard some mumbling, and a soft confirmation that he could be saved before I heard a flash and Annabeth, Apollo, and Jake were gone.
"Look, while it may hurt me to say, I do agree with you, Poseidon. Yet the laws state that any demigod who kills another will stand trial. Even if Percy is the savior of Olympus, he must stand trial like any other. You broke the law, Perseus, therefore you will be punished accordingly." Zeus stated causing me to nod and wait as I felt myself being flashed to Olympus with the gods and goddesses.
STILL FLASHBACK:
LINEBREAK:
LOCATION: OLYMPUS
POV: PERCY
Once we were at Olympus, I was cleaned up before the trial began. The trial was being broadcasted to both camps and all minor and major deities were here to spectate. I knelt before all of the Olympians as that is how my chains forced me to be.
"Perseus Jackson, two-time savior of Olympus, you are here today on the charge of murdering another demigod. Is there anything you want to state before the trial begins?" Zeus stated looking down at me with authority.
"I apologize that a person who cowardly stabs another in the back carried your bloodline," I said, causing his eye to twitch with anger before he erupted, causing his hair to crackle with electricity.
"You bastard! You will hold your tongue when speaking about my son!" He yelled before getting up, causing both Poseidon and Hades to spring into action and hold their younger brother back from attacking me.
"You know he deserved it, Zeus. For far too long he ran around spitting on the other gods and goddesses in your name. I guess you don't care, like father, like son." I said as I began to laugh, an unknown giddiness flooding my emotions from Rick being dead now.
"Why do you laugh Perseus?" I heard Artemis ask while Zeus struggled to sit back down.
"If you want honesty. I have no clue, I just know I felt something snap in me. Something I had been holding back for so long finally rushed to the surface. I felt and still feel nothing about his death. No remorse, no guilt, and no pity. After the months of torment he gave to me and Annabeth, he deserved this." I said with a smirk as everyone took in a sharp breath.
"Dionysus I thought you were working on curing him! What happened?" Poseidon shouted at the drunkard while Zeus continued to crackle and spark with electricity while Hera tried to keep him calm.
"I have been trying, but those memories of that place are way too strong. I can't do anything to fix it. This was going to happen eventually, I couldn't stop it. I'm sorry." He apologized to the sea god with a frown at his failure.
"Percy, when you said you felt something break inside you, what do you mean?" Athena asked, trying to get more information out of me.
"I don't know. I just felt my powers grow in strength and I noticed the rain dissolving as it got close to me. Then I saw gas filling Rick and once I snapped my fingers, he just exploded." I stated as Athena listened and thought for a moment before something clicked and she had a horrified expression on her face, causing Hermes to pipe up.
"Athena I sense you have figured out what happened?" He asked to which she slowly nodded with a solemn expression on her face.
"I do. What Percy did was separate the water compound into the base elements, creating highly explosive hydrogen gas. Once it was split he controlled the gas and filled Rick with it before causing a spark to explode the gas inside him. I have never seen this power used, only spoken about. Percy Jackson has unlocked a new power to control the elements it seems." She explained before Zeus perked up and had a sinister grin on his face.
"So he's more of a threat now?" He asked to which Athena's face grew shocked as her father twisted her words.
"No. I didn't say he's a threat just that-" She tried to explain before Zeus cut her off.
"You said that he unlocked a new power that hasn't ever been seen before, making him more of a threat." He said to which Athena realized there was no way to argue and slowly nodded.
"A demigod of that magnitude can not exist in this world. He would pose a threat to us. With that said I have to change his sentencing. I was going to go with a decade of prison time, but after this news I must change that. As the king of the gods I hereby sentence you to a thousand years in Tartarus." He said with a sickening grin as the entire council room erupted into yells.
"Silence!" He yelled which caused them all to immediately shut their mouths and look at him once more.
"As the laws state, the King of the Gods, who I currently am, can make such decisions." He said as Poseidon and a few other gods stared at him with rage in their eyes.
"Zeus, if you do this I will curse you and all future children you have. If they even get close to a body of water larger than a bathtub, they will drown painfully." Said the enraged sea god before Hades chimed in.
"I will do the same. I will curse them with nightmares beyond the horrors of even Tartarus." He stated, before standing up as if challenging Zeus before Zeus' face grew one more grin.
"I hereby declare martial law." He stated which stopped both Poseidon and Hades in their tracks. Suddenly the room erupted into shouts again before he shook his head.
"Silence." He said to which immediately the room went dead silent, everyone in the room shut their mouths as if they had no control over themselves. His declaration of martial law rendered them all his pawns.
"Poseidon, take away your son's power. That is a command from your ruler." He said as Poseidon tried to fight the order, causing his face to contort in pain as his body began to move on its own towards me.
"I can't disobey him, Percy. I'm so sorry for this." He said as his eyes teared up and with that, he gently placed his hand on my shoulder causing me to feel like my energy was being drained. I felt the connection to the sea I once had broken into nothing. It was extremely painful to feel my connection be cut like it was, and I just glared at Zeus with pain and hatred in my eyes.
"You are dead to me Zeus." Poseidon spat out before returning to his throne where he fully broke down into sobs. Zeus simply shrugged off the words before looking over towards Athena.
"Athena, I want you to think up a punishment so that Perseus will never think of even trying to betray us." He commanded to which she slowly nodded as her brain began to think before she looked down when she came up with something.
Meanwhile, all the other gods were trying and failing to fight against the Law set by Chaos herself. It was said that once a year the king of the gods could enact this law and when it was enacted, the king could control all of the council as if they were puppets.
"We could make him hold all of the fatal flaws we carry," Athena said with anger in her voice at the power Zeus had over her, while Annabeth broke down more, causing Piper and Hazel to hug the daughter of Athena to comfort her.
"Great idea Athena!" He said giddily as he stood up and walked over to me with his signature sinister grin.
"Perseus Jackson. For your crimes of killing another demigod and disrespecting the king of the gods, I hereby place all of the Olympians' flaws inside of you." He stated before the whole room seemed to shake from the anger of all the gods. Everywhere around the world was having disasters strike; the oceans were sinking ships like one would eat popcorn, mountains were erupting causing lava to flow everywhere, crops were dying out, even the sun and moon seemed to be angry.
"From Poseidon, you gain Personal Loyalty.
From Hades, you gain Vengeance and Grudges.
From Demeter, you gain Depression.
From Hera, you gain Jealousy.
From Hestia, you gain Isolation.
From Athena, you gain Hubris.
From Hephaestus, you gain Inferiority.
From Aphrodite, you gain Vanity.
From Hermes, you gain Curiosity.
From Artemis, you gain Impulsivity and Pitilessness.
From Apollo, you gain Egotistical.
From Dionysus, you gain Addiction.
From Ares, you gain Rage.
Finally from me, you gain Ambition and lust for power."
"May these flaws never leave you, and may you rot for eternity in Tartarus." He finished before suddenly 14 glowing orbs shot out of the named deities and slammed into me. At that moment I cried out in pain as it felt like Tartarus was torturing me once again. After those 14 orbs vanished, suddenly orbs from every being related to those 14 gods and goddesses also slammed into me.
Once the final glowing orb went inside of my chest, I just knelt there, crying in agony as all the flaws flooded my entire being. The whole room was silent other than my sobs as all of the people seemed confused as to what just happened.
"What happened?" Apollo asked the burning question, turning to Athena for an answer.
"I think Percy just took all of our flaws, along with the flaws from all our offspring," Athena said simply before looking down at my writhing body as the rest followed suit.
"So, you mean to say that he didn't just take our flaws, but took them from our current and future children?" Artemis asked as Athena simply nodded.
"From this day forth, Perseus Jackson holds and will continue to hold all fatal flaws of Olympus. Never again will a god have flaws." Athena said before Zeus nodded and walked back to his throne grabbing his master bolt.
"Now, with all of that done. Goodbye, Perseus. Enjoy Tartarus." Zeus said, before launching his bolt at me, causing me to be teleported back to the living nightmare realm that is Tartarus.
