Peter's POV
Peter was in school, tapping his pencil against the desk, begging the school bell to ring already. He wasn't even sure why he was so determined for school to be over. He wasn't seeing out to another night of crying himself to sleep and it wasn't as if he had someone to go home to or a friend to hang out with his
Not even a Stark internship that everyone would say is fake.
He was alone for the first time. No one knew the boy under the mask, and while he knew it was better this way, he still felt the pang of guilt each time MJ looked his way. He knew to her, he was a new student, a nerd. But in truth, they had known each other for almost two years and were on the brink of something more than a friendship when he was forgotten to the whole world.
Ned was just a painful subject, a best friend whom you share a complicated handshake with almost every single day stolen from your life.
But out of everything he had lost, the biggest hole was left by his sort of parents, May, Mr. Stark and Mrs. Stark. May dead 2 months ago and the scar she left was still fresh, but at least she remembered him until her last breath. Tony, who was always his mentor and one of the only fatherly figures Peter ever had, he was still very much alive and well. He was just without the kid, he began to refer to as his.
Peter also missed Morgan, his not real but real sister. Morgan's fifth birthday was in a few days, and Peter wouldn't be there to celebrate. He could just imagine the over the top gifts, the cake with too much sugar and the smiles on the two proud parents faces. Yay, Peter was going to have a blast alone in his shabby flat.
A ringing sound filled the air, ripping Peter away from the wall of painful thoughts. He jumped out of the chair, gripping the bag that held the one thing he had left, his spider-man suit.
While the world forgot Peter Parker, his alter ego spider-man was once again making a name for himself, and he might not be aware, but Shield wanted everything, there was on this 'new ' masked vigilante
Tony's Pov
Tony was at that exact moment tinkering in his lab, still suspicious about that workstation in the corner that he couldn't remember the building, when the music he had on full blast was abruptly cut off.
"What the fudge Friday, I didn't say to turn it off,"
The AL calmly replied, "On orders from Pepper I'm permitted to stop you from working in the lab if the time limit of four hours have been reached and Cap has also asked me to notice you about the meeting that he is going to have at 7 pm."
Processing the mouth full of information he grumbled half heartily, this meeting better not be about spider-man again, he and the team had almost 6 meetings with Nick Furry and to be the most blunt, he was tired of it.
Tony sighed quietly, his was going to have to travel to the tower for this meeting, great another almost 3-hour trip to New York. He should really retire from the avengers. Half heartily, Tony asked, "How late is it now?"
"Almost one o'clock," Friday answered.
That him an hour before he had to start the drive.
Tony considered all his combined information for a few seconds. Pepper was probably still busy shopping with Morgan, and that specific event usually took a few hours, so he was on his own.
The perfect time to hide Morgan's birthday gift.
Tony rushed up the stairs, gift in hand, going to the one room Morgan would never look in, the guest bedroom. Not that Tony could remember every going in there, either. Pushing the room door open, Tony jaw dropped open, and the present almost slipped out of his grasp.
Star Wars posters covered the walls, Lego sets lined up all the selves, red and blue colour scheme decorated the bed and then there were the photos. An entire wall covered in photos alone.
Photos of him with his arm sling over a teenager's shoulders. The same teenager cooing over a baby, Morgan. Pepper kissing the teenager on the head. He and the teenager snuggled up on the couch, both sleeping. The boy was halfway on top of him in that specific photo.
Tony ran deeper into the room, ripping open the first drawer he touched, clothes, so many clothes. There was even homework scattered over the desk. Tony picked up the top page, his hands shaking, the date at the top of the page read June. That was two months ago...
Who was this boy?
Why did he have a room in Tony's home?
Where was he now?
Why can't Tony remember him?
Tony choked out a question, " Friday, who used to live here?" Tony had more to ask, but he couldn't make himself say more than that. Friday was silent for a moment before she answered,
"Password needed"
Tony suck in a breath, "what do you mean?"
Friday answered," The information you want is password protected. I can only access the files when the password is provided."
"Override code 2749"
"Friday's voice filled the room again, "Access denied."
Tony couldn't process the words correctly, but he still asked, "Who, Friday, who password protected it."
"Peter,"
Tony rubbed his hand over his eyes. He knew this name, but his mind still couldn't connect the dots, but the boy in the photos was no longer nameless. Tony had to call Pepper.
The phone rang a few times before Pepper picked up, " Hey honey, where almost home just a few minutes." Tony could hear an excited yell in the background, "Daddy!"
Tony's head swam. He didn't only have one kid. He had two. Focus, a voice in his head whispered, for Peter.
His voice was hoarse as he choked out Pepper's name, "Pep – I don't know what to do, h-he is everywhere."
Pepper's sounded worried, "Tony, what is wrong, and who is he?"
Tony breathed out an anxious breath, " Peter."
Tony could hear Pepper becoming anxious as well, "Tony, hang on, I'm coming. Where in the driveway."
Tony could feel his legs turn to jelly as he sank down to the floor.
Before Tony could do anything else, he heard footsteps and a voice ask, "Tony, what are you doing-"
Pepper's voice cut off mid-sentence as she took in the room.
Neither adult noticed Morgan walking in until she burst into tears, "I want my big brother." The distressed girl wailed as Pepper picked her up.
"Shh baby," Pepper whispered, her own eyes wide with fear but not because she was scared, this was the fear a mother had when she discovered she was missing a kid.
Fat tears slipped down Morgan's face as she wailed a second time, "Where is Pete?"
Neither adult had an answer, but they would find out.
A few hours later, with no progress made on the Peter case, Pepper suggested this meeting would be the perfect distraction. Tony had disagreed full out, but Pepper like usually won. He could be finding Peter! Not, that he could remember the boy, but Morgan insisted it was her brother, and that was enough for Tony.
Tony fidgeted anxiously with his hands as he sat next to Natasha. Hopefully, this went over fast.
Steve started the meeting, rather slowly, in Tony's opinion." You're all probably wondering what this is all about, and I'm more than willing to share information, so let's get this started. I'm sure you all are aware of the spider-man problem and the fact that nobody knows anything about who he is. "
Everyone in the room nodded because if Tony was beginning honest you couldn't really forget him, Furry really had a way to drill information into your head and assure you didn't just forget.
"Look, we all know Shield doesn't like being in the dark, so our next mission is to find Spider-man and ask a few questions and hopefully learn his age, morals, and where we could find him in the future. It could also be helpful to know all this on the rare event that he turns bad."
Sam mumbled under his breath, " Like always, Shield is fearing that the tiny heroes are going to go bad."
This has been one of their tasks each single time an enhanced individual made an appearance, and for Tony, it was getting old, especially because Shield has been warming them up for this event. This specific guy literally only sticks with helping people in Queens, and just a while ago, he saved a cat from falling from a tree.
The super spy next to him suddenly piped in, "So what do you think? He will just tell you everything after going through all this trouble not to reveal anything about his personal life. No, I don't think so, I say we knock him out and bring him here for integration."
The others nodded in agreement, but to Tony, something about the plan felled oddly wrong, and it wasn't even that he hadn't drugged bad guys before. It was something else.
Tony shook the feeling off. He had more important things to worry about. Like a person that was supposedly missing from his life. He would do this mission but without involving himself too deeply.
