Wayne Family Chronicles

Well, here is the latest chapter, finally found the time, and energy to write it.
{Justice League}
It is the day before the couple must leave Themyscira, and right now, they are both making sure to have things ready by nightfall. Bruce is making sure their javelin is fully functional, that none of the locals have decided to try something drastic to it.
Diana is with Hippolyta, just enjoying some mother and daughter time. "So tell me, my daughter, when you and Bruce come up with a date for your wedding," She started to say, although sounding a bit unsure, "Do you think it would be okay if I were to arrive about a few weeks earlier? To take the time to better understand the outside world, that doesn't include a calamity going on within it?"
Diana gave off a big grin. "Of course, Mother. It would be a pleasure to have you in Gotham during that time. The Wayne Manor is located out of the city, so you should have plenty of privacy from the public." She said, remembering how her mother felt completely out of her element, in a city that has way too much activity going on at once, even at night.
"And who is this Alfred, that I've heard you and Bruce mention more than once?" Hippolyta asked, "I remember you bringing him up more than once, during your visits, but I never got around to asking you about him."
"Oh, he is Bruce's butler, and has been like a surrogate father for him, ever since his parents were murdered." Diana explained. "He is the one person that is more than capable of keeping Bruce in line, whenever Bruce himself is in danger of crossing it." Giving some brief thought, she decided it would be better if Bruce and Alfred explained such things.
After going back and forth, with questions and answers, "So Diana, once you return to Man's World, what is the first thing you are going to do?" Hippolyta asked.
"Let's see," Diana said, thinking about the answer, "First I need to return to Gateway City, and let the museum know that I am returning to work. Then I have to get used to balancing the job, with my league duties, so I'm going to be pretty busy."
"And what about Bruce?" Hippolyta asked about her future son-in-law, "Since he runs his own empire, so to speak, would he have to announce his return as well?"
"Knowing Bruce, the first thing he would try to do, is investigate the marks that were on the Amazons, who tried to kill him." Diana said, the same way one would talk about the weather, "Then Alfred would try to remind him of his duties of Bruce Wayne, in order to maintain some kind of appearance."
Sensing that her daughter was being careful with her words, mainly trying not to bring up things that would make absolutely no sense to her, Hippolyta decided to change the subject. "So Diana, we have had a plentiful harvest just before you showed up," She said, "You are welcome to take some of it with you, on your return trip."
Diana smiled, glad her mother changed the subject, "Oh I would love to," She replied, "Just to have a taste of home, and I could leave a few with Alfred, since he can make the best meals with them. Especially ice cream."
"I remember you mentioning ice cream before," Hippolyta said, "And I believe you should show me the places that makes this treat. Especially since some of the flavors tend to sound outlandish for me."
Diana smiled, looking forward to what she believes to be, one of mankind's greatest invention. "Let's have a look at that harvest, Mother." She said, before the two headed towards the fields.

Bruce, dressed as Batman, is at the javelin, giving it a once over, making sure nothing is going to interfere with the launch. First, he checks the outside, making sure no animals have decided to make themselves at home in the wrong places, such as the engine. Even though it is a ship designed to go into space, there will always be a place for little critters to sneak in somehow.
Once banging the right places long enough to scare the wildlife out, Bruce pushed a button on his remote device he keeps on his utility belt. Looking towards the guards that Hippolyta assigned to guard him, to avoid a repeat incident from the other day, stepped onto the ship without sensing any kind of danger.
Once he sat on the pilot's seat, Batman started up the engines, letting the ship blow/shake off anything that it might have collected. While the ship is getting itself together, Batman activated a nearby console, using it to establish a connection with the batcomputer. When he established a connection, Alfred appeared on a screen.
"Well, Master Bruce, I take it your vacation is going well?" Alfred said, his dry wit on full display.
"More or less, Alfred, although I was still able to relax." Batman said to his faithful friend. "I was attacked by a group of Amazons, that bore a mark that seemed to be controlling their free will." He gave his butler the story of what he had experienced, "So I need the batcomputer to start looking for any ancient symbols that matches the mark, in order to confirm a suspicion."
"My word, even when you try to get away from trouble, you are still able to find it, Master Bruce." Alfred said, being serious after hearing Bruce's near-death experience. "I'll make sure to contact your usual sources on magic and gods, so that they'll be ready for your sudden appearance."
"Thank you, Alfred." Bruce said, knowing full well how Alfred can read him like a book. "I should also tell you that we'll be bringing back some of the island's harvest to the manor, so you should be able to come up with some new recipes ideas."
"Understood, sir." Alfred said, "I will be looking forward to it."
"Although as a fair warning, knowing Diana," Batman said, "You might end up gaining a new fan to your desserts."
"I will take that into consideration, Master Bruce." Alfred said, before cutting the link.
After seeing that the javelin is ready for tomorrow, he shut down the engines, and went to see if there is any room in storage for the produce. Thanks to Diana giving him a heads up on the comm link, he didn't have to be worried about any last-minute surprises.

Batcave
Alfred is working on the batcomputer, doing everything he told Bruce, when Dick and Tim came walking up behind him. "Hey Alfred, what are you doing?" Dick asked. Both of them dressed in their hero suits, getting ready to go on patrol with Barbara.
"Oh, hello Master Dick, Master Tim." Alfred said, without even looking from his work, "I am taking care of some business for Master Bruce, since he was attacked in Themyscira."
After giving them the full story, both Dick and Tim gave each other a look, before shaking their fists for some reason. "What are you two doing?" Alfred said, seeing their reflection on the computer screen.
After Tim grumbled about his loss, Dick started to explain. "We had a bet with Barbara about how peaceful Bruce's trip is going to be, and she lost, saying that it was going to be completely peaceful." He then pointed towards Robin, "So now Tim must break the bad news to her, hoping that he doesn't end up catching her on a bad day."
"And what, pray tell, did you two bet on with Miss Gordon?" Alfred said, knowing full well that both men would never bet anything despicable with anyone, especially a woman.
"Oh, we haven't figured it out yet." Tim said. "Chances are, we would just let it go, and let bygones be bygones on it."
"But knowing Barbara, she would insist on otherwise." Dick said, with a slight chuckle. Looking towards the computer, "So is that the symbol that Bruce wants you to research?"
"Yes, Master Dick, and I'm just getting everything started." Alfred said.
Both boys looked at the symbol for a bit. "Hey Tim, maybe you should take a copy of this image with you, when you return to the Teen Titans." Dick said. "I think this symbol might be up her alley."
Tim gave a slight hum, "Good idea, Dick, since every little resource could help." He said. When Alfred handed him a photo, before being asked, "And of course, you are one step ahead. Thank you, Alfred."
"You are welcomed, Master Tim." Alfred said. Once he stood up, "Now if you two would excuse me, I need to make some room in the kitchen for what Master Bruce and Miss Diana plan to bring back with them."
Once Dick sat down at the batcomputer, looking up any police reports involving Batman's rogue gallery, "What are the chances that we are going to find people with similar marks, just before Bruce returns to duty?" he asked, what was obviously a rhetorical question.
"It would be just another day at the office for us." Tim said, as he watched the batcomputer provide the necessary information.

Themyscira
It was nighttime, and both Bruce and Diana were having a meal with Hippolyta, for what would be the final moment for now. Despite having a rough start, things improved for the pair during their vacation.
Diana was able to rebuild the trust that her sisters lost for her, when she first left the island to help save the world. While there are still those who refuse to let things go in the past, she decided to let things be, since she too has been guilty of refusing to let go of a grudge for so long.
While with Bruce, even while being on his guard in what would be a hostile location for him, he was able to get some relaxation during their vacation. By being cut off from a world of technology for a certain amount of time, he felt like his humanity was starting to recharge. Despite being treated like the plague by most of the population, along with the 'incident' on the first day, he felt like he gained something more after learning about the world his fiancé left behind.
Hippolyta decided to bring up something, she never thought she would ask about. "Diana, as much as I enjoyed your occasional visits, it becomes harder to bear every time you leave." She said, with a sad sigh, while reaching out a hand towards her daughter, "Especially since there is no real way for us to communicate, due to the differences between our worlds."
Diana gave a small smile, while using her free hand to grab her mother's hand and give it a small squeeze. "I'm sorry, Mother." She replied, "I would like to keep communicating with you as well, and I would like to make it happen. Yet I also want to make sure it's something that is both, not going to effect this island in the worse ways, and anger the gods in anyway."
Bruce didn't say anything, knowing when to keep his mouth shut. While enjoying his meal, he just observes the tender moment, that he wished he could have with his parents, if they were alive today. His thoughts were interrupted when two pairs of eyes were looking towards him. Knowing full well what they were asking him with their eyes, "I'll make sure to have something ready by Diana's next visit." Bruce said, not feeling the need to say anything more.
After that, the rest of the night went along smoothly. By morning, the Amazon Queen watched as the two lovebirds left, to rejoin the world they left behind.
