Author's Note: Two years later, Ochaco finally gets a happy ending. Thank you to Zeena for giving me a sequel idea. To refresh everyone's memories, All for One took over Ochaco's body because she's his daughter and he's crazy possessive. This chapter skips ahead in time to the final confrontation with Izuku.
The darkness of the Void crackled with energy, red and green mixed together. All for One stood with his daughter in front of him. It almost seemed like a pleasant embrace, except for his hand loosely around her throat.
Ochaco stood still. No one could die in the Void, her father would never kill her anyway, but with one touch he could knock her out or send her into the vault deeper in the Void. Her father had only let her out briefly to taunt Izuku. If she only had once chance to act, then she would make it count.
Izuku stood before All for One, his eyes blazing with rage. Green lightning crackled through his hair and made it stand on end as he growled, "Let…her…go!"
All for One laughed mockingly. "You're too late, Ninth. No One for All holder will ever rob me again. My daughter is part of my body, now."
"It's her body, not yours!" Izuku cried.
All for One half-shrugged. "Whatever belongs to my daughter is mine." Including her, went unspoken.
Izuku's eyes flickered to Ochaco, measuring the distance, but he did not dare move with that hand on her throat. He was too kind to let her get hurt, even here where damage would not be permanent.
Movement flickered in the corner of her eye. Ochaco saw her moment. The perfect way to distract her father came to mind. At the top of her lungs, she screamed, "Izuku Midoriya, I love you!"
Izuku's jaw went slack. All for One lost his grip.
In that moment of weakness, Yoichi clubbed All for One over the head. Then all the vestiges surrounded him and beat him.
Izuku arrived to take Ochaco home from the hospital. There was no one else: her mother was dead, her father locked up in a mental vault by the other vestiges, and she had no other family.
Izuku brought an enormous bouquet of flowers. Shifting awkwardly, he asked, "How do you feel?"
"Better than ever. Not a word from him, since Uncle Yoichi locked him up." Ochaco tapped her head. It made her happy to be able to control her own body, every time she moved. "In fact, I've never felt so healthy. I still have the regeneration quirk." A tiny spike popped out of her arm. She chuckled sheepishly. "I'm still working on controlling those."
Izuku's eyes lit up. "I could help you! I have pages of quirk analysis." He reached for his pocket as if expecting his notebook to be there, but did not find it. "I left it at home. Uh, tomorrow? I could come over to your house?"
"Could we go out for lunch?" Ochaco asked. "The house feels empty, with just me in it." There were too many memories in her family home, many of them tainted by the horrible reveals about her father. It turned out her happy family had been a lie all along.
Izuku nodded vigorously. "I know a restaurant not far from your house where we can get a private room."
Was this a date? It sounded a lot like a date. They hadn't spoken about Ochaco's confession. Well, they hadn't any time to speak since she'd woken up back in her own body, and U.A. had rushed her off for tests to make sure All for One wasn't about to possess her again. Ochaco felt too awkward to bring it up first. But Izuku had brought flowers. This definitely felt like a date.
Her heart soared. After so much suffering, she needed a happy ending.
The table had a single white rose in a vase. Ochaco pretended to be looking at the menu, but mostly she was looking at Izuku. She'd never seen him dressed up before. He wore a formal dark grey suit with a blue stripped tie. It suited him.
Last night, all the vestiges had gotten together to help Ochaco pick out her outfit. They'd settled on a pink babydoll dress with ruffled sleeves and white sandals. They'd also given her first date advice. Remembering Uncle Yoichi's advice made Ochaco blush.
Izuku spread notebook pages across the table. "I've been coming up with ideas for how to use the All for One quirk. In the right hands—in your hands—it would be a great force of good in the world." He looked at the table. "Oh, no, now I've covered all the space for our meal. Sorry." He started gathering up his pages.
"It's fine." Ochaco reached out to help him. Their fingers brushed. They both leapt away as if shocked by electricity. Even though she'd jumped too, Ochaco felt a little uncertain and hurt. Did he not want to touch her hand? A lot of people had been scared to touch her since she'd woken up in the hospital with holes in her hands. But she knew Izuku wasn't like that. He was only nervous, like her.
"Sorry," Izuku mumbled, his face crimson.
"There's no need to be sorry." Ochaco swallowed. "We're on a date."
"We are?" Izuku's head shot up.
Ochaco wanted to float all the way up to the moon. She'd never been so mortified, not even when her father had been puppeteering her body. (And he'd been really embarrassingly monologuing with her body.) She whispered, "I thought…I confessed to you…"
"I thought you were faking it to distract your father," Izuku said. "Since he's always convinced a One for All holder will steal his family."
Her hopes crumbled away. Ochaco leapt to her feet. "Excuse me, I need a moment alone." Just a moment to compose herself in the bathroom, and then she'd be able to smile and say it was okay and they could still be friends.
Izuku's hand shot out to grab her wrist. "Wait!" In a painfully earnest way, he said, "I love you, too."
At that point, Ochaco really did float away. It turned out she'd used one of her father's many quirks, and she didn't know how to turn it off. It took half an hour to get her down from the ceiling.
OMAKE TIME!
All for One: I always knew a One for All holder would steal my family again. I bet Midoriya secretly has spiky hair.
Yoichi: Maybe there's a reason all your relatives are attracted to people who hate you. Think about it. You might learn something. In the meantime, I'm going to force you to watch my cute niece's first date.
All for One: NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Aren't you a hero? This is torture!
#
Izuku: If my father isn't All for One, then who is Hisashi Midoriya?
Shouto: I have a theory!
Izuku: I wish my father was All Might, but he wouldn't abandon his family.
Shouto: What about Dabi? He's got a fire-related quirk.
Izuku: Stop trying to pawn Dabi off on another family, you're stuck with him.
Author: I'll let you have my sweet crybaby version of Hisashi because Ochaco deserves a good father figure.
#
Ochaco: Although my father is evil, I'm still sorry he's dead.
All for One: Fear not, my angel, I'll live on inside your head as a vestige forever.
Ochaco: I take it back. Can we just kill him?
