"I'm not so sure about this..."
Shawn said as he watched Harriet put on her costume for movie night. It was a rare time for them to be off from work. And though, Gus had to spend the holiday with his family Shawn couldn't help feeling nervous about his and Harriet's first sleepover as a couple.
Harriet sighed while making sure her cat tail was secure. "Why? We've been planning this for weeks. Don't tell me that you're scared of being alone with me."
"Of course not." He replied quickly. "I just have this feeling that won't go away."
Harriet crossed her arms and looked at her boyfriend. She took in the dark rings around his eyes. "Have you not been sleeping?"
"Only when I am excited about something." Shawn said. "And this is important."
Harriet pulled him toward the couch and placed in his hands a large bowl of popcorn. "What's on your mind?"
"Vampires."
"Seriously?" Harriet asked.
"Yes." Shawn said. "What if they come attack us in the night while we are sleeping and leave our dilapidated corpses for wolves to find and devour."
"Vampires don't exist Shawn." Harriet said. "And neither do werewolves."
"But aren't you a witch?" Shawn asked.
"Have you been reading my previews again?" Harriet asked. "You know I haven't decided on a concrete idea for my next novel."
Shawn didn't speak for a moment. He had forgotten that she was a novelist that specialized in paranormal romance.
"And even if a vampire or werewolf did exist why would they want to attack us..." Harriet said, her green eyes sparkling with laughter.
"Well..." Shawn said, "you see..."
"Gus must have really did a number on you." Harriet said. "I think you need to sleep."
"NO!" Shawn shouted. "We planned this time for us and I don't want to ruin it because of crazy thoughts."
Harriet sighed. "So what do you want to watch tonight?"
"Something funny." Shawn said. "And without gore."
"Should I take off my costume then?"
Shawn blushed. "Not until tomorrow."
"Ok." Harriet grabbed his hand. "Just to be safe."
