This is the English translation of a Fanfiction I wrote and in my native language first and now got back into the Hobbit and needed it in English too.
Note that I wrote this like 8 years ago and was my very first Fanfiction (and the second thing I ever wrote) and didn't change up that much from the story.
Despite the cool weather it dragged Lhindril outside, to the river - her favourite place. Her little brother, who she was supposed to take care of, was with her. She sat down in the dewy grass next to the water and her thoughts strayed to reveries about adventures she would experience in her life. Her father always said that her brother and she would earn great renown one day. What exactly he meant with this the little girl wouldn't know but probably he meant that either her brother or her would become the leader of their people. Nevertheless, Lhindril doubted it would be her because she was a girl and born to an unmarried mother, in contrast to her two-year-old brother.
She spent the rest of the day by the riverside and watched the stream water. Only when it was dusky, she lifted up her sleeping brother and went on her way home. If she had stayed any longer, her mother would have gotten worried, what possibly meant trouble. Presumably she was mostly worried about the little boy.
Surprisingly, Lhindril's father was already at home and supped his soup. Joyfully, she ran towards him and fell round his neck wherewith she almost overturned his plate. It really made her happy that they could eat a meal with the whole family, what hadn't been the case in a long time. While they were eating, her father watched them, before declaring he would head out with Elves the following day and he didn't know how long it would take them.
"May I accompany you?" Lhindril immediately blurted out because she wanted to ride out with him once again. Slowly her father put his spoon down and sighed.
"Now, my little girl, I don't think this is a good idea. We have planned to go hunt down some Orcs. But I could take you to the valley of Imladris since my companions are the sons of Elrond if you want." enthusiastically she nodded, at least she could accompany her father and would see Elves. Also her father nodded slowly, nonetheless it was obvious that he still wasn't really sure about the whole issue. "Alright. I will leave at sunrise, if you aren't up I'll go alone." Once more Lhindril agreed and was already thrilled.
But nothing came to pass as she had expected or wanted it…
