[Two Years Later]
Bella Storm, mother, wife, Council woman. The new system was flourishing like Everett. Seattle was part of the hub and roads were being build between the cities for easier transport. There were zones outside the wall that were being extended, suburbs of Seattle that were being established since they were wanting to expand. Charles' people established air crafts and so drones could be sent on exploration missions so they could find other cities that were possibly still standing. Divergents were not a tradename anymore. People were just people. This was humanity, this was growth.
Cecilia Renee Storm was a year an a half and was beautiful. Her dark hair and green eyes were a mixture of Lukas and Bella and she was smart for an eighteen month old.
Eric walked into the house and Cecilia cackled and ran to her uncle. He scooped her up, a wide smile on his face as he bounced his niece and her squeals of happiness was like music in the air. "CC you are getting too big!" He exclaimed in his uncle voice. He smothered her with kisses and she cackled some more and that made Bella smile. Her hair was longer, a dark tumble of waves that went past her shoulders again.
"The mighty warrior returns." Bella said with a chuckle. "How was Abbotsford?"
Abbotsford, Canada. A new city to the hub. They had harsher winters there, snow on the ground. It was something that Eric hadn't really seen before in his lifetime.
"Cold." Eric said and then walked towards Bella. "Buggy and Gopher are doing some recon in the forested areas with two teams, to see what resources are useful. Abbotsford is smaller than we are. Less people by far and aren't thriving. I spoke with their leader, Jasmine and she is willing to relocate to one of the sunnier cities. Told her to take her pick. We have housing here in Seattle and then Charles has Everett." He said and then Bella popped a cookie in his mouth. "Mmm. These are good." He said and Cecilia giggled and tried to take a bite and he let her. He smiled at her. "Where's Lukas?"
Bella smiled. "He is with dad. They are talking about the other hub. Lakeside."
"Oh right. The town on the lake. How did they manage to survive this long?" Eric asked.
"Fish. Lots of fish. They're smaller too, but they're not struggling like Abbotsford." Bella explained. "Jazz is leading the southern expedition with Will and Chris riding along. We don't know what's South of us and the drones can't fly that far South." She said and then gave Eric another cookie and one to Cecilia.
Eric smiled, accepting the cookie. "Hmm. Well okay then. I suppose that Uncle Eric is going to go shower and get ready for his date with Denise tonight." He kissed Cecilia on the forehead and set her in the floor and then kissed Bella on the cheek.
Bella smiled. "Bring her flowers!" she called after her brother as he walked down the hall to his room. She shook her head a little and smiled down at her daughter who was still munching on the cookie. Life was perfect.
Lukas made it home when the sun started going down in the sky. He found Bella on the couch, reading a book. It was odd to see her not in go mode, but she was six months pregnant and on light duty until the baby came. He leaned down and kissed her softly, breaking her away from her reading. She smiled up at him. "CC in bed?"
"She is. Eric is out with Denise and it's just me and you now." Bella said and set the book to the side.
Lukas got on the couch with her, pulling her feet into his lap and he started massaging them for her. "Lakeside is going to relocate after all."
"Oh? What changed Veronica's mind?"
"Space." Lukas smiled. "It's smaller there and they have no where else to expand, so they're going to relocate to Everett since they're closer."
Bella loved it when Lukas rubbed her feet. Something about being pregnant, the feet swelled and they just hurt more. "That's good." She said and rubbed her hand over her belly when she felt a kick.
Lukas moved closer to her, his hand rubbing over her belly, feeling the ripple of their child within roll against his touch. It was such a marvelous feeling. "He's strong."
"He huh?" Bella smiled.
"One can hope." Lukas smiled.
Bella reached over to her book and pulled the ultrasound picture out and handed it to Lukas. He took it and looked at it, his face lighting up.
"A boy." Lukas smiled wide and then leaned in and kissed Bella passionately.
Bella kissed him back, and smiled at him. "Round two and we have a son."
"Michael Charles Storm."
"Yes." Bella said and put her hand over Lukas's as their son rolled and kicked some more. "Michael Charles Storm."
Life was how it should be now. No anarchy or chaos. People were people and that was all there was to it. Humanity was back and growing. It was the end to a war filled era and it was the perfect place to raise a family. Especially for Bella and Lukas.
