My Perfect New Year-Ch 2
Over the next couple of days the family had an amazing time together, they'd all decided to go outside once if finally stopped snowing to play in the snow and Derek stayed right by his baby girls side to make sure that she didn't fall and get hurt. Fran couldn't help but smile as she watched son and the woman she knew as going to be her future daughter-in-law together, the way he held her in his arms showed his depth of love for her.
The mountains around the Rossi cabins were so beautiful but with all of the snow on them now they looked so majestic, so romantic, so so beautiful, ohhhh how she wished they could stay there forever but sadly they couldn't, they would be however, staying to ring in the New Year here because right now the roads were impassable and drivers were told to stay off of the road until further notice.
Dave said, "well it looks like we're going to be here for a few more days", Reid looked around and said, "it's so beautiful here, I'm glad that we'll be staying a few more days, that was we can all get a little more rest before we go back to work after the New Year". Emily said, "I love staying at the cabin, the air here is so clean and refreshing, not like it is in the city", JJ, Fran and the others nodded their heads yes in agreement.
Jack and Henry were making the most of getting to stay up in the mountains a few more days, they were outside playing in the snow everyday, they loved the cold weather and playing in the snow but something about being at the cabins made them both enjoy it a lot more than playing in the snow at home.
Derek stood with his arms wrapped around Penelope smiling, he was smiling because he was remembering snow days with his dad when he was a little boy, his dad would always made snow days fun for Derek. They would go sledding, build snowmen, have snowball fights and one of his favorite things was building a snow fort, ohhhh how he couldn't wait to do all of those things with his little boy or girl".
Penelope sighed happily and said, "what are you thinking about handsome?", he said, "playing in the snow with our child, I can't wait baby girl, I can't wait to watch you being pregnant with our child, watch as he or she is born, watch as they learn to crawl, talk, walk, ohhh I can't wait, I know I have to but I'm looking so forward to it ya know?", she turned in his arms and kissed his lips gently, he then rested his forehead against hers and said, "I'm so happy angelfish, I've never been happier in my entire life".
Derek sighed happily and said, "neither have I baby girl, everything seems so perfect when we're together, I love you so much and I love this little one here" as his stomach slid to to her stomach". Her hand slid on top of his and she said, "would you rather have a son or daughter?", he said, "to me, the sex of the child doesn't matter, the only thing that does matter is that he or she is born happy and healthy".
Penelope said, "that's the way I feel to handsome, i just want a healthy baby, it doesn't matter to me if I'm having a little boy or girl because I know that whatever I have will be loved by so many people". Derek nodded his head and said, "that they will sweetness, that they will" as they stood looking lovingly into each others eyes for a few minutes before deciding to go back inside and enjoy some hot cocoa in front of the fireplace.
As the happy parents to be sat in front of the fire Derek couldn't stop staring at his baby girl, she was the woman that he'd waited his entire life for and tomorrow night he was going to propose to her, he was going to ask her to be his wife and spend the rest of her life with him and pray that she says yes.
Derek had talked to his mom and Dave already so they know that he's going to propose on New Year's Eve, so what they are going to do is have everybody to walk up to the lake a few minutes before midnight so that Derek and Penelope can be alone. Fran couldn't have been happier when Derek told her that he was going to propose to Penelope, she'd known from the first time she saw them together that they were destined to be together.
Fran glanced over her shoulder and smiled as she watched her son and soon to be daughter in law, they were so adorable together and the fact that Penelope was pregnant with her first grandchild only made the mood more perfect. As she looked at the people around her she knew that by this time next year she would have a little grandson or granddaughter to spoil rotten and the thoughts of that made Fran Morgan Rossi, one happy woman indeed.
