Slytherin Dungeons.
Draco pales and begins saying."Wait till my father hears about this, Fenton." Danny grabs Draco by his collar and says."Are you threatening me, Peacock?" The rest of Slytherin is looking with anticipation, unknown to the students. Snape is watching as well.
Draco, knowing his bluff, has been called. Shouts."Crabbe, Goyle, get him." Danny sees two goons charging at him. He throws Draco to one of them. The other one tries to punch Danny. Danny blocks and hits the boy full on the nose. He pushes the boy to the ground And looks toward Draco and the other goon. And asks."So who is next?"
Snape walks in and says."Mr Malfoy, might I suggest that next time? You choose your opponents more wisely. Crabbe, Go to the hospital wing and have your nose healed." Snape turns towards Danny and says."Mr Fenton, while I believe in the right to defend yourself. Next time, try to take a more cunning approach. We are not Gryffindors here."
Danny says."Professor, is it not knowing when to use the direct approach in a situation cunning unto itself?" Snape Smirks and says."Mr Fenton, you will do well here. It seems that the first years have found the Junior Prefect. We will expect great things from you. Mr. Fenton, do not disappoint us."
Draco says."But that is my title. The Malfoys held that title for generations." Danny says."I guess it's time for a change." Draco says."I have followers, and you dont." Danny snorts and says."Hired goons are not followers." Goyle says."Malfoy, we back you up against anyone." He then points at Danny."Except for him. If you want to fight him, You're on your own."
Draco says."He is just one..." Marcus Flint interrupts Draco and says."Who without any real effort beat all three of you."
Draco storms off to his room and says."It is not over yet. Fenton." Danny rolls his eyes and says."Whatever." That causes the entire dungeon to start laughing.
Two girls, one with blond hair and a girl with brown hair. Walk up to Danny, and the girl with blond hair says."Hi, Im Daphne, and this is Tracy." Danny replies."It's nice to meet you, too. Im Daniel Fenton, but call me Danny." Daphne says."It was so satisfying to see Malfoy squirm."
Danny asks."Not his biggest fan, I take it?" Daphne snorts and replies."Would you like a guy who sees you as an accessory? And only wants you for your family name?"
Danny says."I dont have to worry about that with Mr Peacock. Mom says I'm not allowed to date animals." Tracy laughs and says."Danny, If your magic is half as good as your Humor. You will be a Legend."
After taking and getting to know the other kids, Danny calls it a day and heads towards his room. He enters his room, Walks up to his bed, and falls asleep.
Snape's office.
Snape thinks to himself. "It's clear to me now. That Fenton is not Potter's brat. No spawn of James Potter is that cunning." Snape pours himself a drink and heads to bed."
The Next Day.
It's seven in the morning. And Danny walks into the great hall. He sees Hermoine sitting alone. Having breakfast. He walks up to her and asks."Good Morning Hermoine. Mind if I join you?" Hermoine smiles and says."Not at all."
Danny sits with her and asks."So, how was your first night here?" Hermoine says."Gryffindor Tower is lovely. Is so warm and inviting how. is the Slytherin dungeon?"
Danny says."Everything I imagine a supervillain hideout to be." Hermoine laughs, and they finish breakfast together. And they head to the first class of the year.
Transfiguration Class.
They walk into the Transfiguration class together. And see that it's empty. The only exception is a tabby cat that sits on the desk. Danny and Hermoine take a seat in the front of the classroom. And get their books out.
Danny observes the cat for a bit and finds it strange that it's not moving around or grooming itself. He asks Hermoine."Dont you think it strange? That a cat sit still for so long without doing anything?" Hermoine replies."I admit that it's odd. But what are you thinking, Danny? That the cat is part of the class?"
Danny says."You have to admit to seeing that cat. Transfigured into something else would be a great intro to Transfiguration. Mabye the cat is a shapeshifter?" Hermoine replies."Do you mean the teacher is the cat? I admit that would be amazing." Danny says." It makes sense with ten minutes left before class. Why there is seemingly no teacher."
Hermoine says."But Danny, we Dont know if shapeshifting exists. But I said the same thing of magic a few months ago." Danny says."I guess we have to wait and see. But im convinced that's it." The rest of the classroom fills up. But even after the bell rings. There is still no teacher.
Suddenly, Ron and Neville run into the classroom. Ron says."We made it. Could you imagine the look on McGonagall's face if we were late?" McGonagall transforms, and Ron exclaims."That was bloody brilliant."
McGonagall replies."Thank you for that assessment, Mr Weasley. Mabye I should transfigure you or Mr Longbottom into a watch. Mabye one of you could be on time." Ron says."We got lost." Mcgonagall replies."A Map, then? I trust you dont need one to find your seats."
McGonagall begins her introduction."Transfiguration is some of the most complex and dangerous magic you will learn at Hogwarts. Anyone messing around in my class will leave and not come back."
She then continues."For our first lesson, we will turn matches into needles. But first, we will work our way to the theoretical aspect of the spell."
After the theory, it's time to practice the actual spell. McGonagall explains."Remember to concentrate, Make your wand movement precise, and Use the proper pronunciation that is the key to success." She hands over the matchsticks. And the class starts practicing.
Danny thinks back on something his dad said.
Flashback.
Jack is working in his lab. When a four-year-old Danny walks into the lab and asks."Daddy, what are you doing?" Jack lifts Danny in his arms and says."Im inventing something new, Danny." Danny looks at the table that Jack is working on, and Danny says."That's just a bunch of junk." Jack laughs and says."It's junk now. But with the help of this blueprint, it will turn into a portal. You see, Danny, the blueprint tells my hands what to do."
Danny asks where the drawing came from. Jack says."From Mommy's Uncle Vlad's and My Minds. Before the magic can take place. You picture it clearly in your mind. And your hands will do the rest." Danny says."I dont get it." Maddy walks into the lab. Says."You will when you are older, Danny."
End of Flashback.
Danny thinks."Picture it clearly in my mind and follow the blueprint." Danny visualizes the Match turning into a needle. He takes a deep breath and focuses on what he wants his magic to do. He does the movement and says the spell. And his Match turns into a needle. But it's not perfect. Not yet.
McGonagall is impressed and the only one besides Danny. Who makes good progress is Hermoine. At the end of the class, Only Danny and Hermoine managed To complete the Match into a needle.
McGonagall assigns the class homework. And she Shows around the needles transfigured by Danny and Hermoine. She says."Miss Granger and Mr Fenton. Take five points for your houses for your excellent progress in class. And Mr Fenton, I award two extra points for being the first in a long time. To figure out my Animagus ability."
Charm Class was theoretical only. But Danny and Hermoine's sharp minds won them a few points. After charm class, Danny asks Flitwick."Professor, are there any easy self-defense spells? A first-year can learn?" Flitwick asks."Why are you interested in that kind of Charms, Mr Fenton?"
Danny says."Soon. people in the snake house Are going to figure out that I dont care. About Blood status at all. So I want to know how to defend myself." Danny thinks to himself while saying that."And I prefer not having to use my ghost powers."
Flitwick says."I could see how that could become problematic. Come back next week, Mr. Fenton. I will have something ready for you by then."
Danny says."Thank you, Professor." and Danny heads toward his next class.
Herbology Neville proved himself to be a prodigy in Herbology. Only Hermoine and Danny were able to stay awake in History of Magic.
Danny loved Astronomy and was eager to answer any question the teacher asked. After class, hermoine asks."How do you know so much about Astronomy?"
Danny replies."My dream is to be an astronaut. so I learned about the cosmos as much as I could." Hermoine says."That is a nice dream, Danny." Danny asks."What about your dream?" Hermoine says."I always liked teachers. So mabye a teacher. But that might change now that im a witch."
Danny found that Defence Against the Dark Arts was a letdown. It was primarily Theoretical. And Professor Quirell seemed to be scared of his own shadow. But for some reason, Danny can't explain why he feels uneasy around Professor Quirell.
And Before Danny knew it. It was Friday.
Potion class
Snape walks into the classroom and gives his opening lecture."I do not expect. That many of you will understand. The subtleties that potion making is. But for the few with the talent. I can teach you to bewitch the mind. Ensure the senses. And even put a stopper in death."
Snape suddenly asks. "Mr. Fenton, What would I get if I added powdered root of asphodel to an infusion of wormwood?" Danny, having prepared for this class, says."You get a sleeping potion known as Draught of the Living Death Professor." Snape replies with."Correct, Mr. Fenton."
Snape then asks Neville."Longbottom, where would you look if I asked you to find a Bezoar." Neville says."I dont know, sir." Snape sneers and says."You did not think to open a book? Before coming to class, Longbottom?"
Snape then turns to Danny and says."Mr. Fenton, same question." Danny replies."In the stomach of a goat, Professor." Snape says."Correct again,Mr. Fenton."
Danny thinks to himself."Great, this place comes with a British Baxter And Lancer."
Hermoine is raising her hand into the air. Hoping she gets picked to answer a question. Snape turns towards her and yells."Sit Down." Snape turns to Ron and says."Weasley, what is the diffrence between Monkshood and Wolfsbane?"
Ron says."I dont know. Ask Hermoine. I think she knows." Snape replies."That will be one point from Gryffindor for your cheek, Weasley." Snape once again turns to Danny."Mr. Fenton, once again, same question."
Danny replies."monkshood and wolfsbane are the same plant, Professor, which also goes by the name of aconite." Snape says."Well, Fenton, it seems you are not a Dunderhead. Take five points for Slytherin. As for the rest of you. Why aren't you writing this down."
The class pairs up. And today, the class is making a potion Called the cure for boils. Hermoine is pleased to be paired up with Danny, who seems as prepared as she is. However, she is disappointed that she did not get a turn in the Q&A section. And she finally understands Danny's story about Biased Teachers.
Danny and Hermoine work well together. But Danny sees Neville and Ron about to add the quills while the potion is still on the fire. He says."Neville, you need to remove your cauldron from the fire first. Or it might explode." Ron asks."Are you sure, Mate?" Danny says."Positive." Ron and Neville decide to trust Danny and follow his advice. Snape comes over and compliments Danny while yelling at Neville and Ron.
Danny is Clenching his fist while Snape is on his tirade. Hermoine, Neville, and Ron see Danny's reaction to Snape's behavior and know he disapproves.
Snape Dismisses his class and gives Danny another five points for protecting dunderheads from themselves. Danny rolls his eyes as he heads outside and says." Thank you, Professor."
Neville And Ron see Danny's reaction. And they are having difficulties containing their laughter.
After Ron and Neville stop laughing, Danny asks them about their weekend plans. Hermoine says."I heard that Hogwarts has a brilliant library. Im going to take a look." Neville says."Im going to check out the greenhouses." Ron says."Play WizardChess and Explore the castle."
Danny says."First, I'm going to write my Family. And tell them about my first week. Hermoine, do you want me to deliver your letter as well? Hedwig won't mind." Hermoine says."Thanks, Danny, when are you going to send Hedwig?" Danny asks."Is tomorrow okay?" And Hermoine says."Perfect."
