The mighty Demon King Piccolo is a being no person on Earth had ever thought would appear. A being of tremendous power that commanded an army of demons at his beck and call. Very few had challenged his authority, and only one had defeated him, long ago. Now, with the life of a dear friend taken, the demon king's return had been silently announced, much to the horror of everyone involved…

Ayote was in her own thoughts, staring with widen eyes at the blackness that had enveloped her consciousness as she saw her friend - her brother in arms - Krillin slain on the floor. She could vaguely see Goku try in vain to awaken their friend, but Ayote's mind was completely blank, all feeling in her body vanished. Her mind trailed off to her mother, during her last moments in the living world, then to the large ball of energy that engulfed Planet Vegeta. The sounds of scream of agony echoed through her mind as she had lost another loved one. She couldn't go through it all again, not when she was at her happiest. She felt her heart beat faster, louder… Her breathing got faster before…

A sudden jolt as a hand grabbed Ayote by her shoulder, nearly causing her to have a panic attack. She turned to the source and saw… her Grandpa Roshi, looking at her with a look of genuine concern. Ayote took a moment to process what had happened; she was on all fours, a puddle of… vile below her, along with drops of sweat and tears. She must've thrown up when she was in her own mind.

Roshi: "Ayote. Are you okay, my dear? Can you stand?"

Ayote took a moment and found her legs again as she stood back up to her feet.

Ayote: "I-I'm f-fine… Just… had an episode…"

She looked around and found everyone looking at her with concern. But Goku was… seemingly gone.

Ayote: "Where's Goku…?"

Scared Male Voice: "Th-That crazy kid? He w-went after the monster that killed his friend!"

Ayote turned to find the tournament announcer in the corner, trying to calm his own nerves.

Bulma: "He took the Dragon Ball Radar because the monster took the Four Star Ball that he had."

As the young Saiyan tried to sense out Goku and follow, she starts to realize just how dizzy she was as she falls over, much to Roshi's worry. But then Oolong walks up, holding a piece of paper.

Oolong: "Hey, look what I found. It looks like some kind of symbol, but I don't recognize it."

As Oolong shows it, Roshi's skin turns pale as he clenches his fist in anger and fear.

Roshi: "...Demon King Piccolo…"

Tien: "Piccolo?"

Roshi: "Yes… An evil demon from long, long ago. Back when me and Shen still trained under our master, Mutaito… King Piccolo's reign started in earnest as the entire world fell into his rule. Those in Master Mutaito's dojo tried to fight the demons back, but the king himself proved too much for any of us. In a desperate gamble to save the world, Mutaito used the Mafuba to seal the Demon King in an electric rice cooker, but at the cost of his life. …I started the Turtle School in his honor after that. But now… Someone found that rice cooker and was foolhardy enough to undo the seal."

Ayote: "So King Piccolo's the one who killed Krillin… Then he'll pay with his blood… A bastard like that…"

Roshi however grabbed Ayote's tail to stop her.

Roshi: "Ayote. Stop."

Ayote: "Grandpa, let go of my tail."

Roshi: "No, Ayote. This is too dangerous. I cannot allow you to get involved."

Ayote: "Dangerous? DANGEROUS!? Roshi, I'm a fucking Saiyan! I am stronger than any human on this damn planet! And you're telling me some stupid demon is too much for me!?"

Roshi: "No. However, it's clear your mind is too clouded to think rationally. You are letting your emotions speak for you."

Ayote: "My friend, your student, JUST DIED! How else am I supposed to feel right now!? Act like this didn't happen!?"

Roshi was silenced; he understood how Ayote felt. And the fact that Goku left in such a rush to get revenge for Krillin didn't help either. But he could not risk losing another one of his students.

Ayote: "I am going to go find Goku and together we'll beat this stupid Demon Ki-"

But as she spoke, Ayote felt a chop to her neck, causing her eyes to white out as she collapsed to the floor, unconscious. Roshi stood behind her, his hand in a chop position as he looked at his granddaughter with a sorrowful look.

Roshi: "I'm sorry, Ayote… But you cannot join in this battle…"

Tien then approaches, looking at the old hermit.

Tien: "With all due respect, Master Roshi… But why not let Ayote join us? Having experienced her power first hand, she could be an asset to us in defeating King Piccolo."

Roshi: "I won't deny your point, young man. However, Ayote's instincts as a Saiyan were shining through, clouding her otherwise human-like nature. If her race was anything like she has so vividly described, then… there was a chance she would have gotten herself killed. And… I didn't want that to happen. Of course, this was never her fight to begin with…"

Tien: "...I see… Very well, let me and Chiaotzu help in that case. We may stand a better chance that way."

Roshi looked at Tien with a serious expression, then sighed, agreeing to the former Crane Students' help. He then turned to Bulma, Chi-Chi, and Ox-King.

Chi-Chi: "Hey, I'm not chopped liver. I want to help too. Somehow…"

Ox-King: "Guh! B-But Chi-Chi! You heard Master Roshi! That Demon King Piccolo could be dangerous! I don't want to lose my baby girl too!"

Chi-Chi: "But if we don't do something, people are only going to get hurt or worse!"

Roshi: "Chi-Chi, I admire your bravado. However, Ox-King is right. This is also not your battle to fight. But I do need a favor… If… If something does go wrong… Then I need you to keep Ayote safe…"

There was genuine sadness in Roshi's voice, giving a very real feeling that what he was about to do and how this would all end… It may end with him forfeiting his life. Chi-Chi could only stare as Roshi, Tien, and Chiaotzu walked away. A tear then rolled down the girl's cheek as the realization hit her. She clenches a fist hard enough to draw blood as she could only helplessly watch Roshi march to his final moments.

As the Dragon Team were off doing their own thing in order to stop King Piccolo, Ayote was drifting in her mind after being knocked out by her grandpa and master. Unlike her earlier episode, this one didn't feel as… bad… She wanted to wake up and kill King Piccolo… But as mind drifted more, she began to recall an old memory from long ago. A day after her first growth spurt at Kame House. Roshi was sitting on a lounging chair with a mug of beer beside him before he heard walking on the sand. He turned and was surprised to see… Ayote wearing her sundress.

Roshi: "Ayote! What're you wearing? And where'd you find it?"

Ayote: "Hm? Oh. I dunno what it is exactly. I just found it with a collection of other clothes. I found this black and white, frilly outfit with a… string tie? I dunno, the skirt was way too high for my liking. And that's not getting into the various bikinis I found too."

Roshi was reasonably flustered at having his secret stash of potential outfits he'd have a girl wear if one came by. But as he stared at Ayote wearing the sundress, he realized… the dress actually worked for her. She had been wearing her Saiyan armor for years so a different outfit for her was certainly a nice change. And it showed that Ayote was now much more comfortable being on Earth.

Roshi: "Alright, kiddo. What do you think of your new outfit?"

Ayote: "It's… comfy. And loose. I feel great in it, in other words."

Roshi: "I'm glad. Actually, hold on…"

Roshi stood up and moved to the interior of his house, looking around until he opened a less private closet. Inside, he pulls out a matching sun hat, which he dusts off. He then hands Ayote the hat.

Roshi: "Put that on your head."

Ayote looked at it confused before doing so. It was… strangely comfortable. Unlike the scouters of the Saiyans of her old home planet, this hat provided a sort of comfort that she… liked. Her expression basically said all that Roshi needed to hear.

Roshi: "You like it?"

Ayote: "Yeah. It's… nice. Thank you, Master Roshi."

Roshi smiles as he nods. The two then sat down on the sand as the watched the sun set in the distance.

Ayote: "Hey. Are you lonely? You seem to have a lot of clothes meant for girls."

Roshi: "No. I've been living on my lonesome for a couple hundred years now."

He says, not wanting to admit that he did crave the feeling of a woman in front of his own adoptive granddaughter.

Ayote: "Am I interrupting your lifestyle then?"

Roshi: "What? Of course not. Your being here has been nothing but a thrill. Actually, it's had a very positive impact on my life. I wasn't quite certain, given your… absurd strength… But after a while, I learned more about you and I came to understand you. Honestly, I call you a miracle of the stars."

Ayote smiled at Roshi after hearing that. It sounded so genuine and that made her very happy.

Roshi: "Of course, you're sometimes a pain, considering you keep going into my room!"

Ayote: "Well lock your room then! I live here now so you have to get used to it!"

Roshi: "You should learn what privacy means! That means no entering other people's rooms!"

Looking back at this memory, Ayote began to feel at ease. Her murderous Saiyan side felt… suppressed. She still felt angry… But her mind felt clear again. That is until another feeling, much like the one she felt from Krillin's death, shot through her senses like an arrow piercing her heart. Something in the waking world happened…
